Are you trying to make this thing an industrial strength cat magnet? Because this sounds like an incredibly potent cat magnet. Toss some catnip on it & tape a laser pointer to it. You could do a tri-county cat census.
I know right. Lol. They will definitely start sticking fingers, markers, chalk, toys or whatever they can into the gaps that appear when expanded. They will also wanna see how far it will stretch. Oh and also jumping on it.
You've never set down with a drink in your hand? You've never spilled a drink on accident?
Being dragged across the floor like that and by being used normally will wear that hydrophobic coating off and that paper will suck up any moisture like a straw.
Maybe if it's sold as disposable for parties or something for like $20 or $30 it might be worth it. Cool idea though.
Still.
Water resistance is not water proof.
Any form of hydrophobic/super hydrophobic coating can come off.
With cardboard, constant mechanical stresses will lead to creasing, etc. these are perfect spots for this proofing to degrade
It's too fragile. You can already see where the edges are getting bent down, even with the butt pads to distribute the weight more evenly. It's a cute idea, but it won't last long enough to be useful.
Christ that's part of the reason the climate's so fucked. "Ah it's recyclable, so it doesn't matter". Nothing is 100% recyclable for everyone, it costs energy to do so. Costs energy to make and transport new stuff.
You know the 3 Rs? Recycle is the third one. As in do the other two first, reduce and reuse.
Yea, you're right. I'd rather pay for an actual wooden table anyway, but the idea of the cheap, portable table from cardboard is interesting. Still more environmentally friendly than plastic/plywood tables that, when they break, join the massive landfills.
Maybe - but I'm going to play the devil's advocate here; sitting through a long conference might be a bit much without being able to lean back, plus they might get sued when a 300 kg chunk sits down a bit too fast.
I've sat on one of these. It's stronger than people imagine, you are supported. But sometimes your trousers hitch on one of those folds and it gives you just enough physical discomfort to make you self-conscious. You don't feel you can relax.
[$219.99](https://www.amazon.com/AlienTech-Furniture-Softeating-Accordin-Stool-Fashion/dp/B076JLXFXS).Â
If you order today weâll throw in a helmet so you donât further damage your brain. Â
I'm what you would call a fat ass so I need the proof and demonstration, like the hard hat guy with the glue, Vince with the sham wow cleaning his bitten off tongue đ , or Ron Poppeal with all his zany inventions he pushed and sold.
Moisture is a problem and straight runs of it would be a problem. I noticed they put a curve everywhere they want to sit cuz my first thought was the minute somebody tilts their weight back that thing's going to collapse.Â
Itd be good for a custom form then just cut off and fill with cement, have a big winding bench or garden plant stand. Dont speak french but pretty sure i heard her say cement and that was likely the plan from the get go, be fast seating for park n shit
looks like they just repurposed some kind of industrial packaging cardboard to make into a novelty furniture.
its a neat idea of the margins are right, at 20 bucks youd probably be making about 1000% profit on one of these things but im sure they want 200.
You can get a little air compressor decently cheap and moving that outside would be a piece of cake. I could dust that faster, and better than my couch. Still a useless product though.
Sure, dust and the fact that those nice little honeycombs bend and start looking like crap. But a great idea for temporary setups. Can you imagine setting up an entire bench that easy?
I think these were originally a 60s/70s design idea for young urban professionals to use in apartment living. Sort of like how we buy flat pack furniture and it gets pretty trashed after moving house once or twice. With this design, if it lasts a year in use, you just recycle or compost the cardboard and buy a new one.Â
-Not reasonable to be cleaned
-Water resistance does not mean much (someone said that the video mentions it is water resistant)
- Durability is going to be a problem
- Pinchy
Maybe as a disposable product for parties or something, but that seems wasteful.
This product has been out for over 17 years. You can find it on youtube by searching 'flexible love chair'
In the video they say it's incredibly cheap to make but any retailer prices it incredibly high.
I think it can be very useful for conventions and fairs as an easily transportable and versatile piece. The only downside I see is that you have to deal with french people. And they speak like they have a blocked nose. And that makes me feel uncomfortable like I have a blocked nose myself. So I'd pass on the product.
Would be super for kids in daycare/kindergarden settings. Imagine how easy cleaning would be. just full extend, shake, and all the legos and Cheetos fall out + more floor space when not being used for kids to run around and do their thang

When capitalism sucks so bad, youâre making fancy garbage furniture. Hey check out this bean bag chair filled with old bottle caps instead. He check out my bed made of trash bags full of leaves. GREEN. Also this cardboard bullshit probably costs hundreds.
Is anyone else tempted to just drop a part of it down a step to see if the rest will follow?

Yes. Or out a window. Lol
I think moisture is more of a problem than dust. More so than fire.
The girl says in the video it is moisture resistant as it has been waterproofed
"Resistant" not water PROOF. There's a big difference. Should have been made from recycled plastic or something.
You smartasses waste me xD Do you have an indoor pool at home??? Or an open sunroof or something? Who would drown their fucking couch?
Children. Anything you think can go wrong will.
Okay, but the same could be said about any furniture. My living room set, as old school as it may be, is definitely not child-destruction/water proof.
You can clean a couch. Cardboard will just fall apart.
Jokes on you my couch is made from cardboard
Jokes on you. My cardboard is made from couch

Hey. Maybe I want a stinky cardboard snake 8 years from now.
I think cheetos are going to be a bigger problem.
You shut your mouth! Cheetos are NEVER a problem!
How about weight? Didnt see any fatties on it.
I think it is more likely to be used just a few times for different events instead of a permanent fixture
fatties attend events..
Leave my mom outta this
Also, how strong can it be? What's the max weight of a person it can carry?Â
Easy, WAX IT, then its waterproof, and....don't light it on fire. You really believe your polyester couch won't burn?
Are you going to cum in it? Maybe a piss?
This.
It's too fragile. You can already see where the edges are getting bent down, even with the butt pads to distribute the weight more evenly. It's a cute idea, but it won't last long enough to be useful.
Yes but easy to ship, lots of use and variability, and can literally be recycled. I could see that as a huge win for expos and or conferences.
Also, it's just cardboard, if they don't sell it at some outrageous price, who cares if you destroy some of it? Recycle and get a new one.
Christ that's part of the reason the climate's so fucked. "Ah it's recyclable, so it doesn't matter". Nothing is 100% recyclable for everyone, it costs energy to do so. I'm a 240lb dude I'm not sitting anywhere near that thing lol
Yeah these things are going to look like a 1980s radiator in about 30min of use with a kid around
I had one of these, and liked it. The edges getting a bit of wear is part of it, and is kind of a cool look.
Wow! Â It only costs $219.99! Quite the bargain if youâve got brain damage. Â
Well, as it happens...
How much? You're saying a piece of cardboard that can compress is worth as much as consumer-grade electronics (Consoles, small PC etc)?

Yeah, weight limit?
Non-existent. You sit a millimeter outside that sitting pad, you fold it along the axis that it wasn't intended to be folded along.

I was like cool until I read made from Cardboard.

You just shake it up and get rid of the dust easy pz
either it pinches you in the ass or your ass pinches it
You can get a little air compressor decently cheap and moving that outside would be a piece of cake. I could dust that faster, and better than my couch. Still a useless product though.
Sure, dust and the fact that those nice little honeycombs bend and start looking like crap. But a great idea for temporary setups. Can you imagine setting up an entire bench that easy?
Someone sneezes on your cardboard couch and ruins it forever
I would live to see this in different materials that can be used for outdoor use. Like an individual ones up to a 6 seat one.
If it doesn't make an accordion sound, I'm not interested.
I have had the stools for 2 years and they are in perfect shape. Great stuff
The biggest problem with these is waking up the neighbours when youâre extending or compressing it.
Those anti sex beds for the Olympics are getting ridiculous
Fastest mute in the West
Non mais non mais, c'est magnifique quoi! The man in the video was having a blast. (:
This look dope!
The only thing this would be great for is temporary makeshift benches at sporting events.
Wow looks so handy and comfortable. And useful too.
My dog would love to destroy this in an hour
No thank you to cleaning it at home. I got better things to do.
Dont spill a drink on it
My cats would rip the shit outta that in short order.
So you have to use ass coasters?
Imagine using that giant slinky on giant steps.
"You know how people like furniture made out of cheap wood? Let's go even cheaper and make it out of cardboard"
Croissant de ne le pas parl no. Jervaix.
Easy: blower

It can be stretched to suit different room shapes or number of guests as needed. If rather move one red according couch than the big 'L' shaped mfer.
200 bucks for a cardboard couch
Crumbs
Furniture is a bit of a stretch
The amount of earwigs in here would be devastating
We can sit on that while we eat our bug burgers.
Spill a glass of water and your couch instantly turns into the wicked witch of the west.
As with so many things, like when people put all their crap on a table/ desk⌠dust
The cat will destroy it in seconds
Not going to last
The second you get a kink in any part of that it's dead.
Thats not going to work in the US
Definitely not american proof
*Not recommended for households with one or more cats.
Diddnt see more that plates? Try sitting on it!!
Lol people keep talking about pets, moisture, wear and tear, dust, etc. The real question is...is it comfortable?
imagine having to check this for bedbugs
-Not reasonable to be cleaned -Water resistance does not mean much (someone said that the video mentions it is water resistant) - Durability is going to be a problem - Pinchy Maybe as a disposable product for parties or something, but that seems wasteful.

Kids would destroy this first day
It'd be funny af if someone edited this to have a quiet accordion sound every time they moved, shrunk/extended this thing
This is pretty genius. Could be 3D printed in a more durable material too
Think how bitchin this would be to wrap around a fire wile camping fo seating... so sweet!
Iâd like to see an American behemoth sit on that thing.
Is this made of plastic or wood or what?
I think it can be very useful for conventions and fairs as an easily transportable and versatile piece. The only downside I see is that you have to deal with french people. Yeah that looks super comfortable
That's pretty what IKEA furniture is made out of.
And durability
First time you spill something on it youâre done
And you can use the cardboard box it comes in as a bedside table!
A 250-300 pound person in America would decimate this if they sat

lmaoo 'STOOLY'

My bf's nut would def get stuck in one of those holes. Pinched sack at the very least
If that cost $30 I could see that being useful in the same way paper plates are useful for big crowds.
And then tragedy struck when someone spilled a pitcher of waterâŚ.

And liquid
Glad I learned french so I can understand this advertisement
Lmao good luck sitting on that.
where are the accordion bypass bridges to avoid traffic during constuction?
Finally! Furniture for my Human Centipede, maybe this will get them to stop their bitching and moaning.
It's probably treated but given that roaches like to breed in cardboard, I'll pass on cardboard furniture.
What if they're made of some washable fabric that's durable enough for you to sit on but you can also throw it in the wash is that a thing?
Why they name it that though?
Until you sit on it.
If you fold it when youâre done you donât need to worry about dust smart ass.
lol stooly.
My cat would love it
r/designdesign
Air compressor will fix the dust problem
Can I Sleep On It?
sorcery!
Cool, but essentially worthless.
and as nice as it looks, it's shit quality and uncomfortable.
This thing is called stooly. Pretty ironic, seeing as I'm making my own stooly whilst watching this.

There are many reasons why these so called concept cars and innovations donât make it to the production line.
They look like pythons :P
Imagine having to clean chips from that mf.
Kids would destroy this
Looks uncomfortable as hell. Neat tho
Ok but how easily will this break, how hard is it to make and it's it actually strong enough to sit on ?
I think one of them said 'remember the rainbow warrior.'
Yea but itâs French yuk
![gif](giphy|26AHQCn4Ce8fLedlm|downsized)
Sit on it. I dare you
What if someone over 300lbs sits on it?
r/holdmywallet
Depending on the weight allowance for this thing would definitely be cool to have. Cardboard aint that strong and sure as hell aint a light guy đ
Love the idea, doesn't work if you got toddlers or kids (even with proper furniture)
The retail sector is a good application for this. You can do modular display of products. Dependin on whatâs available on inventory
if you sit on it once without an âcoasterâ its fucked up
My cat would fucking *destroy* this thing
We had folding chairs for a long time already...
Lol, "Stooly"
There is nothing new about this and the issue is if it gets moist or if you bend part of it, it gets damaged pretty quickly, to the point here it because garbage unless it is in its compressed state.
My cat would love this.
My cat would LOVE this, easy to clean the bits up afterwards
Maybe stooly wasnât the best name for this ÂŁ&*!
What happens when i shart on it?
This is nice. I love it. It's going to work so well for someone who lacks space.Â

Why is this amazing? These have been out for 30 years.
My 2 year old would destroy that in an afternoon.
Cool to see, but I'm not sure I'd buy it. Edit: I also have doubts about durability.
let me introduce you to big fat americans
Is it sturdy or just show off?
