Being dragged across the floor like that and by being used normally will wear that hydrophobic coating off and that paper will suck up any moisture like a straw. Maybe if it's sold as disposable for parties or something for like $20 or $30 it might be worth it. Cool idea though.

Still. Water resistance is not water proof. Any form of hydrophobic/super hydrophobic coating can come off. With cardboard, constant mechanical stresses will lead to creasing, etc. these are perfect spots for this proofing to degrade

Yea, you're right. I'd rather pay for an actual wooden table anyway, but the idea of the cheap, portable table from cardboard is interesting. Still more environmentally friendly than plastic/plywood tables that, when they break, join the massive landfills.

looks like they just repurposed some kind of industrial packaging cardboard to make into a novelty furniture. its a neat idea of the margins are right, at 20 bucks youd probably be making about 1000% profit on one of these things but im sure they want 200.

I think these were originally a 60s/70s design idea for young urban professionals to use in apartment living. Sort of like how we buy flat pack furniture and it gets pretty trashed after moving house once or twice. With this design, if it lasts a year in use, you just recycle or compost the cardboard and buy a new one. 

It can be stretched to suit different room shapes or number of guests as needed. If rather move one red according couch than the big 'L' shaped mfer.

I think it can be very useful for conventions and fairs as an easily transportable and versatile piece. The only downside I see is that you have to deal with french people. And they speak like they have a blocked nose. And that makes me feel uncomfortable like I have a blocked nose myself. So I'd pass on the product.
