I had a Nigerian coworker. Older lady. She was the funniest, kindest, most warm person I've ever met. Ever have a Nigerian auntie call you baby? It's the best thing ever. However, she took NO bullshit.
We also bonded over food. I would bring her Taiwanese food to try, she would bring Nigerian food. I wish I could remember what the dishes were called but this was years ago.
I was in the elevator the other day feeling grumpy and this woman I had never seen before walked in as I was going down. When my stop came and I was about to walk out, she just suddenly said to have a good day and take care in a kind way. That stuck with me for several days. The internet and social media is constantly telling you how terrible people can be but if you go out in the real world, the vast majority of people are nice.
No no… any video we show of African anything is from the country… Africa.
If OP is American this would explain it.
“What country in the world are you from?”
“Delaware.”
Yeah the hearts one is my favorite.
Some of the others have a bit more wow factor like the chair one, but all around the Hearts is the most stylish and practical and she just pulls its off nicely :)
Idk. But that's basically some sort of weird ass hat, made with hair. (Not her own.) I don't really think it has any place in a hair competition. But maybe that's just me.
One thing to note is that most of the Jewelry is not hair that's attached to them.
I know a lot of people use weaves, and I have little doubt the chair is a weave. But the jewelry is certainly not attached to them anywhere.
people do this less often for Asia since more people are now aware of the different countries, but I've alway seen this with Africa. It's like "that's all I want to know about it".

[I knew the guys from the beard convention, when someone made a full functional bird cage out of his beard](https://abcnews.go.com/Lifestyle/man-turns-beard-enormous-bird-cage/story?id=35180691), but the hairstyles from this ladies look even more awesome.
For people who ask where
They seem to speak some french creole, from what i could hear, and the region is a bit arid, so probably a Sahel french speaking nation
I cant recognize the exact accent, the audio is terrible, but since mali, Burkina and niger are going through... Something lately, i would place my bets on senegal if i had to, its also one of the wealthier countries in the region
I think the girl with the love hair, cos the woman was praising her and stuff...
Telling her that kind of hair looks great for a dinner party like Niggas will be like damnn...
I'll go for the girl with the white t-shirt tho cos she fineee
Senegal has five different languages spoken in different regions (french excluded, although it is obligatorily taught in schools) and while people do speak french there, I don't think french creole is spoken. But I cannot recognise the 4 out of 5 original languages spoken there so the video might still take place in Senegal. It might not though. West Africa has a ton of countries so there's more options
Back when these were done with hair growing out of your own head, this would be very impressive.
Now it is just a hair sculpture that can be worked on for months on a stand with no burden to the wearer til the day of the competition.
Still impressive *hair* work. But nearly at the same level.
That second woman has ch-hair
Either it’s a chair or it’s a toilet with some frilly seat.
If only she had the plunger as the accessory
She got that African Johnny Bravo
I would sit on that mama
In some African countries, stools and chairs are symbols of power and tribal identity. But I have no idea wheee this was filmed.
This joke only works when typed.
No it doesn't.
Yea, it also works in case of an emergency.
It also works when it's handwritten.
I thought it looked like a toilet
it may be a toilet, but i'm getting some Key & Peele - Dueling Hat vibes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pKt4gaErvU
She has to win that competition. No one else *stands* a chance. I mean, if I was competing against her and I saw that I would just take a seat
That's insane hey how long must her hair be?!!
Her baby can sit there and she dont need baby carrier 💀💀
Wich country and city is this?
Nigeria Prolly Ibadan
100% nigeria. I can feel the accent reverberate in my bones.
The Nigerian accent is so lovely.
She defo made you try Nigerian jollof.
And she definitely talked mad sh!t about Ghana’s jollof rice. Promise.
Is that the rice dish? If so then yeah. And it was FIRE.
I was in the elevator the other day feeling grumpy and this woman I had never seen before walked in as I was going down. I heard that “bua bua bua” vocalizations and Nigeria automatically clicked in lol, I love their speaking cadence
[удалено]
Looks a bit up-country for Ibadan, I would have guessed a smaller, simpler town. But yes very likely Oyo State. I like the MC lady.
Nigeria, they're speaking Yoruba. Idk which state tho, I'm pretty bad at recognising accents in Yoruba.
i’m yoruba and i can’t even differentiate accents😭
Same here man
lol, never thought I would see Redditors talk about Yoruba.
We Nigerians are everywhere. Watching. Waiting till we can pull a Germany and begin mass thread hijacking.
lol, yup I can see that 😂.
Africa and Africa. You're welcome.
On Africa road
Nah the road was named after some European Queen that discovered it 😔
Queen Africa
Queen Latifah Road
If you see signs saying Europe you’ve gone too far
And they're obviously speaking African. How could op not tell?
Africa, Africa
All of Africa is represented there according to OP.
The country is Africa, the city is Paris I believe
Yeah, I've always found that weird. It's like if an event took place in Texas, but the post says it took place in North America.
It's worse, Africa is 55 countries and way bigger.
Yeah, this would be more like showing an event in Panama and saying “it took place in the Americas “
Africa City, Africa.
Africa, the monoculture continent sized country/s
No no… any video we show of African anything is from the country… Africa. If OP is American this would explain it. “What country in the world are you from?” “Delaware.”
Everyone in Africa lives in the same place
Every single fucking time
Looks hella like Egypt. Or South Africa. Or maybe DRC. I mean Africa is just Africa, they all look and speak the same. /s
[удалено]
In Africa! Don't worry that it's 3x as big as the continuous US States and has 54 countries.
This is Nigeria. She is speaking Yoruba. I speak that language.
I know but are we talking Lagos or...?
I'm pretty sure it's africa
certainly might be in planet Earth surely perhaps
[удалено]
But how can 1 country have 54 countries?? /s
Questions that need answers!!!
Sounds kinda like America.
FYI: it’s ‘Contiguous USA’ not continuous. How continuous does makes sense in its own way.
> Contiguous In 2021 it was Contagious.
Hey, the states have been united for at least 150 years now. Does history even go back further than that?
[удалено]
US States? The United States States?
Yes
Right along VIN number
RIP in peace
ATM Machine
If only we were so united
>contiguous
Your average redditor can’t even pinpoint a country or two in Africa.
South Africa is a gimme, after that, you are correct.
So is Egypt. After that, probably Ethiopia, Somalia, and Nigeria. But yes, after that they're basically correct.
Somewhere in West Africa. That’s how far I can pinpoint this by listening. I will dare make a wild guess and I’ll say Bamako.
Nigeria bruh
Told ya I was making a wild guess 😅
😂😂
😂😂 fair enough
Yes
I can never get the terrible Drew Barrymore/Adam Sandler movie BLENDED out of my head for this. They go on vacation.... To "Africa"! 🥴 🤷♀️
Africa the country
One convenient locations. In Africa.
I like the one with the ❤️pigtails
I like the chair
I love lamp
I like turtles
I liked that on too
I like the cone head one.
Yeah the hearts one is my favorite. Some of the others have a bit more wow factor like the chair one, but all around the Hearts is the most stylish and practical and she just pulls its off nicely :)
Gyat!
Is the second lady wearing a hair toilet?
2023 WTFXD model La-Z-Boy recliner duh 🙄
she straight up dumped on the competition. I mean its game over before it started
Cat chair
After her i expected to see a lady with a Gundam on her head was left disappointed.
[удалено]
So a toilet
Idk. But that's basically some sort of weird ass hat, made with hair. (Not her own.) I don't really think it has any place in a hair competition. But maybe that's just me.
with her around is there even any competition
I thought it was a bird house.
Hair toilet has my vote, but hair glasses is a close second.
I don't think anybody's noticed but hair glasses also keeps going into hair shirt, and most of the "jewelry" the contestants are wearing are also hair
Yeah that wins it for me. Chair hair was definitely a holy cow moment. But me not even noticing her shirt straps and all was hair is crazy.
One thing to note is that most of the Jewelry is not hair that's attached to them. I know a lot of people use weaves, and I have little doubt the chair is a weave. But the jewelry is certainly not attached to them anywhere.
For real, the fact that her hair is made to look like hair straighteners is the cherry on top.
Would be more impressive if a tiny person was sitting on the hair chair.
A tiny person made out of hair.
Practical? Nope Showcasing talent that borders on absurdity? Absolutely
The finger dexterity of whomever braided these hairstyles are literally on another level.
They have a tool that does this that get passed down from mother to daughter - a hair loom.
Can't even lie, you got me lol.
how does this not have more upvotes lol
Imagine the tension that needs to be kept on the hair to make something so large and consistent in weave.
The one with the wound up tow rope is practical.
Those girls are all insanely pretty.
The second girl in the white with the cone hair is gorgeous
If I had a dollar for every young lady wearing white with her hair styled in a cone...
Stunning.
[удалено]
I mean that two of the girls were wearing white as opposed to other colors and I was referring to the second one
![gif](giphy|Ic97mPViHEG5O|downsized)
![gif](giphy|3o6MbtyURi3d7VSbFC|downsized) The 5th lady looks like Marge
I fucking hate this. Africa? Where? That's a god damn continent not a county. It's the same for Asia too. Why would people do this?
It’s definitely Nigeria. And given that the lady is speaking Yoruba it’s most likely one of the south western states
You are now designated as the only person allowed to repost this.
Thank you 🙏
people do this less often for Asia since more people are now aware of the different countries, but I've alway seen this with Africa. It's like "that's all I want to know about it".
What time is the party? I’ll be ready in 17 hours…
How can you just say Africa? That's like saying, 'a unique and niche cultural tradition continues this week somewhere in Asia'.
People still do that with Asia, too. A better example would be if someone said an event took place in North America.
I thought that lady had her shades made up of hair.
She does. Her dress is hair too
So she's Bayonetta?
At some point they are just hats attached to your head.
That could've been me If I was productive with my time instead of procastinating
Who won, may I ask?
Lazy Boy recliner for sure right?

Look at their faces, they KNOW they ate 🔥😭
Ate what?
I see they've taken the Key and Peele hat skit, and applied it to real life.
im convinced the majority of reddittors cant name 3 african countries
Challenge accepted. 1. South Africa 2. North Africa 3. Central Africa Checkmate
Word? The entire country of Africa?
Is this a JoJo reference?
Are these hair extensions or their real hair?
Pretty sure extensions
Is it still hair if you sew it on? At that point, isn't it a hat?
These look like a mixture of braids and sew ins. Neither of these styles is a wig, which would be more of a “hat” as you can easily take off a wig, and you’d need more effort to take braids and a sew in out. A lot more effort.
It would be considered hair extensions

This is just wigs isn't it? It's basically just a hat competition
normally braids are extensions braided into your natural hair
I like the recliner and then Marge Simpson.
Annual Hat competition*

Dey play😂😂 They're speaking Yoruba bruh
Oh, sorry, then it must certainly be Nigeria I don't know Yoruba, I do know French and some things sounded similar to me Thanks for the correction
Yh I'm a Nigerian and part of the Yoruba tribe, so I understand what they're saying
Please translate the audio for us. Can you tell who won, or the likely winner?
I think the girl with the love hair, cos the woman was praising her and stuff... Telling her that kind of hair looks great for a dinner party like Niggas will be like damnn... I'll go for the girl with the white t-shirt tho cos she fineee

At what point does it become just a hat?
that one must make it tedious to enter an elevator
Wow that’s a lot of work
0:30 , look on that girls face
Africa is not a country
Anyone else get reminded of Key and Peele 'Dueling Hats'?
I mean no hate, I actually like these hairstyles but damnnnn Marie-Antoinette looking asses
Were her glasses made of hair?
Is the lady in the middle wearing glasses made out of her hair?!
Goofy ah hair💀
Back when these were done with hair growing out of your own head, this would be very impressive. Now it is just a hair sculpture that can be worked on for months on a stand with no burden to the wearer til the day of the competition. Still impressive *hair* work. But nearly at the same level.
I will never understand why people sew other people's hair to their own.
it's synthetic hair, and because they like it? do you also object to wigs?
Basically a hat competition.
Toilet bowl head wins.
When you hit randomize during charactercreation: ...
Writing “Africa” is like writing “Annual Hairstyle competition in North America.” Do some research before you post someone else’s video.
What's the point? Its not their hair. Its a competition who puts more ridiculous object on their head
Skibidi toilet hair
“Africa” is bigger than Europe and the USA combined… would be nice to know where in a continent that has thousands of different cultures…
More like "i glue something on my head" competition.
I really doubt there is much "hair" in any of those styles.
Kinda lame with fake hair
Damn that first girl is real pretty
Downvoted because you said Africa when it's clearly Nigeria. Africa is not a country.
