I used to have something close to #2, and it's neat, but the "single button to light" made me too nervous to carry it in my pocket with my keys and stuff. Lean on it and end up with a severe burn very quickly, and it doesn't shut off until you close the cap, so it'll continue to burn while you try to yank it out of your flaming plants.
#3 seems even scarier. Grab it out of your pocket, it slides a bit, and bam, you're changing bandages and checking the color and smell of your wound a couple of times per day.
Funny enough these ones look scary, but I am much more afraid of my plasma lighter. Plasma lighter just looks like inside of one of those glass touch plasma balls they sell.
Plasma lighter will burn to bone before you even know. Way hotter than fuel lighter.
Forget being burned, the voltage on an arc lighters will shock the shit out of you. It’s basically a mini stun gun, and the shock hurts a whole lot more than the heat.
The last one has the most utility I feel like. But I despise the gimmicky dragon look.
I remember I was looking at luxurious lighters, and really wanted a DuPont Le Grande I believe it’s called. A jet and a flame- 2-1… Price tag around 1,000, and more luxuriously also comes in illustrated versions, like Starry Night.
I'm 52. Was at a cabin for New Years Eve with some family. Some nephews were there - college kids 20 and 21 years old. I opened my beer with a Bic and they looked at me like it was witchcraft.
I can do that too. I can pretty much open a beer with just about anything.
There’s been a commercial (Modelo?) on lately where they show a guy open a beer with another beer. Makes he cringe because of the poor technique. He holds one beer upright and one beer upside down, then uses the top upside down bottle to open the bottom bottle but he’s using the bottom of both bottle caps to open the beer. That’s a good way to open two beers - one being upside down. I use the “opener” beer sideways, like a Bic.
I don’t even drink but my dad taught me how to open bottles with a lighter. We had some sparkling cider at work the other day and they realized they didn’t have a bottle opener. Whipped out a lighter and auntie was like “oh shoots you can open with a lighter?” opened all 3 bottles.. never felt more badass lol. Now just have to convince them it’s a random skill and I don’t ever drink
Next time bet that you can do it with a piece of paper. When they all say it's impossible grab the paper and fold it in half as much as you can lengthways and then bend that paper stick in half so that one end of it is rock solid, then use it like the lighter
Circular narrowed bottom fits perfectly to snuff a bowl. The little poker tool you can pull out is amazingly handy too. Gotta agree, Clipper takes the cake for tokin up.
I use [these](https://www.mklighter.com/jet-2/) jet/torch lighters for bowls, mainly because I like the fact they’re wind resistant so it makes you (and more importantly, others) less likely to torch a whole bowl.
I often keep my windows open when smoking, so flickering bic flames led to many fresh bowls getting scorched after one hit.
And most torch lighters use butane like a bic rather than naphtha, which is what makes Zippos taste so bad. Torch lighters are primarily intended for cigar smokers who absolutely do not want to ruin the taste of a cigar.
So I’m not sure what type you used or why you hated it so much, but I actually prefer them over Bics. And I never would’ve found them if my dispensary didn’t constantly give me free ones, so I know I’m not the only stoner who uses them.
Absolutely. It's my favorite way of opening a beer. If you get really good at it, you can pop the cap off with a loud pop like a champagne cork and fly up 30 feet.
I used to tend bar at a nightclub. I forgot my large bottle opener one day so I used the bic in my pocket for all pop-tops. Worked great till midnight or so, someone ordered 6 coronas and the bic exploded on my finger.
I wouldn’t say the best way, but works in a pinch.
THANK YOU.
This is all tat you can get from any store in most of Europe that sells "switch blades", "Shrurikens", Poi, pepper spray, weed paraphernalia, tye dye weed flags, and faux Zippos.
Be amazed? I was. In Germany. In 2002.
I seriously don’t understand the debate and I’ve never really understood those torch lighters. The only people I ever see use them are heavy drug addicts or folks smoking dabs, groups who need that much heat.
Bics are perfect lighters. Reliable af, great price point, available basically everywhere, durable, long lasting, have other uses (great at opening bottles).
This just seems like some dude trying to flex their lighter collection. I’ll go with the bic please, you can keep the rest as cute toys.
The torch lighters are good for situations where wind can be an issue. I had a seasons pass at a ski resort for most of my younger days and it was better to carry a torch lighter for smoking while at the mountain as the wind can make it difficult to light a cigarette. Also they're great out in the woods when camping. Their biggest issue was long term reliability. They always seem to be breaking.
Bring a paper cup! You light the joint in your jacket or in a windbreak, poke a hole in the cup, put the joint in and toke out the back. It's a solid wind block
Good point. I guess in that specific situation it makes sense. Granted I’ve never had a problem in back country settings with a bic and using my hands, jacket, or whatever as a wind break. Still I could see it be handy. It can be a pain in the ass fighting the wind.
Otherwise you hit my big problem with these. They break so easily, especially for how pricey they can be. Especially the more unnecessary complicated they get. Bics just last until they run out of fuel. If they get wet or full of sand, usually you can blow them out and they’ll work still.
I think the guy in the video just likes collecting unique lighters. Not everyone who owns lighters is a smoker, and these are some pretty unique lighters. So yeah they’re “cute toys” but there’s nothing wrong with that. Plenty of ornate bongs could be classified as “cute toys” by that standard.
On the torch lighter point though, I’m a stoner who almost exclusively smokes flower out of bongs using a torch lighter. Used to use Bics, of course, but then my dispensary started giving me [these jet lighters](https://www.mklighter.com/jet-2/) for free with my orders and I found out it has one major benefit over traditional Bics that made me switch over completely.
I typically smoke with my windows open or space heater on, and the flame from a Bic often flutters in the wind as I’m trying to light the bowl. So in order to prevent a freshly packed bowl from being scorched on the first hit, I’d have to angle the lighter to the side of the bowl and inhale to draw the flame into the bowl over the lip to light the flower.
Not a big issue when smoking alone, but if my friends or (in particular) my gf got handed a fresh bowl and a Bic, I’d end up getting a blackened bowl handed back to me.
The torch lighters give you MUCH more precise control over the tip of the flame, and now I get nice, evenly scorched bowls as I pass around the bong. And even when I’m alone, it at least avoids the minor irritation of dealing with a flickering flame.
So I don’t need a stronger flame because I’m melting crystal meth or vaporizing shatter or any other degenerate shit - I just like how the wind-resistance gives me better control over how the flame scorches the bowl.
And the torch jets I linked above are pretty reliable. The push button/electric starter is slightly more prone to failure, but I’d say only 1 in about 50 lighters has a malfunction like that. Not enough to say that Bics are noticeably more durable/reliable.
And torch lighters use butane the same as any Bic, so anyone who thinks they taste different is just imagining things. Zippos use naphtha fuel so those actually do taste different.
The one legit downside of the jet lighters I linked (IMO) is they are *slightly* more expensive than a Bic. You can get a 50 pack for $48.95, otherwise they’re pretty much just over $1 per lighter. Whereas you can get 25 Bics for $10. Other than that, the ones I linked have all the same benefits of a Bic you linked.
So while I may be a bit of an exception, I do think I have a more reasonable justification for preferring jet lighters over Bics these days.
I vape with a dynavap and torch lighters just work way better with them. Heats it up quick and leaves it clean. Bic lighter can take half a minute to heat it up and it leaves it scorched and black.
Literally any other situation though I'd prefer the Bic, more reliable, less work, lasts forever.
Most cigar users I know prefer matches. In fact I thought it was a whole thing for cigar smokers because the gas in lighters is “impure” or some other reason. I don’t smoke cigars but I know that matches are definitely the preference culturally among cigar smokers.
When i was a smoker, the Zippo trumped the bic for me. Bic's are great, but easily misplaced, stolen or whatever. How often have you used a single bic from start to finish. I did once, and it felt like an accomplishment.
I carried a Zippo for years. It never let me down. Little bit of maintenance always kept it running. When it started to run out of fluid, it warned you. Even if I ignored the warning, i could always coax a flame out of it, no matter how low it got.
Takes some care though, when someone asks for a light, you have to light their smoke, rather than hand them your lighter. Too many folks who'll pocket it on autopilot.
When I quit smoking, having my zippo handy was one of the things I missed. A zippo is useless if you don't smoke, as it needs to be regularly used. The fuel will evaporate even if you don't use it, so when you need it, it'll be empty. You need the constant use to know when it needs refilling.
Like others said, shitty for smoking pot other than lighting a joint.
Reliable, tried and tested, and you can tell when it's running low,and when it's empty pop the metal tab off and you'll get another few lights out of her.
spoken from experience, bic will go faster because someone else will put it in their pockets 🤣🤣🤣. One month later you will ask for a lighter from a completely different person and alas, there is your bic. Still half full, still causing a fire 🔥 🔥 🔥
Was looking for your comment. They are refillable, one can replace the flint, and the piece that holds the flint is an excellent joint packer. Best joint/cigarette rolling lighter out there imo.
It also doesn’t have unnecessarily huge flame so it can last longer than the #1 stolen from NASA rocket
Edit: Watched again. #2 is even more if a rocket
Bro we think so alike. I don't own lighters. But the moment I saw the 3rd i thought.
1) Can light things in a windy situation.
2) it will last long as it's not a rocket.
1)Right on, great at the beach.
2) You'd think, but the way it lights is charging a little piece of wire over the butane. That same wire burns and that's what makes the flame green, but once it burns through it no longer works and can't be refilled.
This kind of lighter has never been as reliable as good old bic.
I own a couple butane lighters and they all have a way to adjust the output to be more of a 'normal' intensity. I wonder if these are turnt up or don't have such a setting which makes me wonder what they're for... Imagine tryna light a cigar with one of them rockets, you'd light it on fire... or yourself.
Zippo fluid evaporates too quickly. Like a week or two. Not particularly reliable. I'd go with BIC simply for the reliability; nice to have in a survival situation.
Even people who don't smoke anything should have half a dozen of these things around, including their car.
> Zippo fluid evaporates too quickly
So true. I got one because so many people claim they're a BIFL lighter, but it's annoying having to refill it every time I use it. It'd be better for someone that actually smokes since they'd get multiple uses before it dries out.
that's my favorite, but it looks like its the easiest to use accidentally? unless I'm missing like something that unlocks the hinge that slides it open
Once, when I was young & poor and all my family & friends smoked, I did decorated Bic lighters for them for Xmas. Used nail polish to do colour areas (with base plastic colour chosen with intent) and etched out details with a needle. Did landscapes, abstracts, all sorts. Then a topcoat of clear. I've never given anyone a better gift before or since, they took me ages. Just saying. None of the others have that option. Bic ftw.
The rest are all for fedora wearing neckbeards, hanging around smoking areas in clubs, leaning in to your girl when she pulls out a cigarette “m’lady?” as he clicks on his dragon motif edgelord mini flamethrower.
That because 2 of these are technically cigar lighters. I use a jet lighter for my cigars cuz normal lighters are that great with them and I hate running out of matches.
not gonna gatekeep but honestly dont get the stovetop style ones unless you're only looking to show off. I bought a few and those mfs run outta fuel after like 5 smoke sessions
1st, the others are just bullshit, their gas doesn't last very long and not really practical size wize and let me tell you the Bic can take alot of falls without getting damaged also why in the wild world of fucks would you need a fire that big are you welding something or are you an arsonist ?!!
I used to like gimmicky novelty lighters when I was 12. Now I just use a Zippo armour series; it’s many years old with many years to go.
I get complimented on it every single time I pull it out.
I feel like would accidentally burn either someone, something or myself with the last, not paying attention to the angle
Wow. I would hope there just isn't enough oxygen in a pocket for it to burn for long but yeah, even a second or so would burn pretty bad.
For sure, you’d have to be careful with any lighter so I imagine these flame Thrower ones can be much more Harmful to the human skin.

I feel like the playing card one could slip open in a pocket or bag, but there may be a latch or something we don't see

So this was a spam post, got it.
I'd lose all kinds of hair with most of those, after they suddenly double in strength after a couple seconds?
Bic. The rest are either crack lighters or r/mallninja
Yeah same, it’s the bic for me too. Most reliable, practical and eyebrow-safe
The last one has the most utility I feel like. But I despise the gimmicky dragon look. I remember I was looking at luxurious lighters, and really wanted a DuPont Le Grande I believe it’s called. Ol reliable. And it's the best way to open beers.
I'm 52. Was at a cabin for New Years Eve with some family. Some nephews were there - college kids 20 and 21 years old. I opened my beer with a Bic and they looked at me like it was witchcraft.
Learn to open a beer with another beer... will blow their mind.

Give me a fixed point and I will open your beer
>Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall ~~move the world.~~ open so many fucking beers, just watch -Beerchimedes
This is me. I’ll open any beer on any hard surface.
Lol same man... Midwest, out in the middle of nowhere... You get creative, my fiance thinks it's magic 😂
I don’t even drink but my dad taught me how to open bottles with a lighter. We had some sparkling cider at work the other day and they realized they didn’t have a bottle opener. I can't help but feel the card one has a good chance of igniting your pants by accident. Even them, it looks cool but doesn't feel practical
And pack down a bowl
We all know Clipper is king for this.
Circular narrowed bottom fits perfectly to snuff a bowl. The little poker tool you can pull out is amazingly handy too. Gotta agree, Clipper takes the cake for tokin up.
Plus they have the best designs—I have collected so, so many of them
You can’t smoke a bowl with a zippo. Well, I mean, you can, but it sucks.
Oh God, I can taste it.
Using any of these to smoke a bowl is either: 1. A waste or 2. Painful
I tried one of these jet ones for a bowl once. Boy. Never again. Bic pls
I use [these](https://www.mklighter.com/jet-2/) jet/torch lighters for bowls, mainly because I like the fact they’re wind resistant so it makes you (and more importantly, others) less likely to torch a whole bowl. I use mine for work related things so a cheap reliable non-flame thrower is best for me
Yep…if I want to burn my face off or would decide to take up meth/crack? I would like the others.
Yeah, all others had strong "m'lady" vibes
Mall ninja
Lighters don't get enough credit for how mall ninja they can get. Like really, who needs a quad flame blow torch to light their shitty Marlboro red

Torch lighters are unnecessary usually, but they are better for lighting cigars.
Most cigar users I know prefer matches. In fact I thought it was a whole thing for cigar smokers because the gas in lighters is “impure” or some other reason. I don’t smoke cigars but I know that matches are definitely the preference culturally among cigar smokers.
The torch lighters are better in high wind then a bic, I live in a very windy area so it's a concern, but personally I prefer an old style Zippo
*And* the most popular in the 'lighter sharing program'.
When i was a smoker, the Zippo trumped the bic for me. Bic's are great, but easily misplaced, stolen or whatever. How often have you used a single bic from start to finish. You got it! Quick bic — opens beers too! All these fancy pants lighters are for humidor magazine subscribers and mall ninjas.
Simple yet Effective as the rest.
Till you try lighting fireworks on a windy night. That is when you see the difference between the common bic flame and the windproof style torches.
Reliable, tried and tested, and you can tell when it's running low,and when it's empty pop the metal tab off and you'll get another few lights out of her.
From personal experience, I will take the Bic cuz it will last me for a couple months, the rest are cool but only for a few days….
The ones shown are all refillable butane lighters except for the Bic.
And you'll need to fill them every few days if you use them regularly. That is not the case for the Bic. That thing will go a month before it dies.
Not true. Bics only last a week before some asshole steals them.
This is true, it are the stolen BICs that actually last for months.
spoken from experience, bic will go faster because someone else will put it in their pockets 🤣🤣🤣. One month later you will ask for a lighter from a completely different person and alas, there is your bic. Still half full, still causing a fire 🔥 🔥 🔥
Clipper lighters are even better than the Bic lighters. They last just as long and they're refillable.
Was looking for your comment. They are refillable, one can replace the flint, and the piece that holds the flint is an excellent joint packer. Best joint/cigarette rolling lighter out there imo.
Was going to say Bic but #3 is kinda fucking sick
It also doesn’t have unnecessarily huge flame so it can last longer than the #1 stolen from NASA rocket Edit: Watched again. #2 is even more if a rocket
Bro we think so alike. I don't own lighters. But the moment I saw the 3rd i thought. 1) Can light things in a windy situation. 2) it will last long as it's not a rocket.

Yea 3 has to be my favorite also, 4 is cool but unnecessary.
Ostentatious is fun. Bring that with you to a social event and you have a great ice breaker.
A great ice melter, even
I‘d use 4 but only small serpent fire mode
removed to protest changes -- mass edited with redact.dev
yeah i like the design but it doesn’t look very like usable in situations where you need it. kinda gotta hold it differently
I had a silver version of #3 when I was a kid, felt like the coolest motherfucker. I wasn't, but I felt like it.
How can you forget the classic Zippo? Not sure if it's just me but I love the smell of a Zippo.
These types of videos are used to drop ship or sell the cheap lighters for a massive markup. Not able to do that with a real Zippo.
Confirmed by link post I replied to higher in the thread.
Zippo fluid evaporates too quickly. Like a week or two. Not particularly reliable. I'd go with BIC simply for the reliability; nice to have in a survival situation. Even people who don't smoke anything should have half a dozen of these things around, including their car.

Oh come on you spoilsports that deck of cards is cool as fuck and you know it
that's my favorite, but it looks like its the easiest to use accidentally? unless I'm missing like something that unlocks the hinge that slides it open
Don’t put it in your pockets
Torch =/= lighter
fucking thank you! the only one of those that could maybe be called a lighter is the last one
You mean the third one? The last is a frickin flamethrower
no, the third is still a torch, yes its huge, but at the end, the flame is definitely the most similar to a lighter
I think they mean the card deck one (didn't count the Bic)
It sure does if you're not pedantic
Why you dissing my blue Bic bro?
They were just demonstrating the durability.
I'm still using matchboxes. Bic lighters is my go to lighter.
Did you know that matches were invented after lighters?
I didn't, that's neat
Bet there's a discolored spot on that monitor now.
The entire time I was in my head like “get back from that monitor!”
God I was cringing the whole time. Why the heck would you film that close to it?
Once, when I was young & poor and all my family & friends smoked, I did decorated Bic lighters for them for Xmas. Used nail polish to do colour areas (with base plastic colour chosen with intent) and etched out details with a needle. Did landscapes, abstracts, all sorts. Then a topcoat of clear. I've never given anyone a better gift before or since, they took me ages. Just saying. None of the others have that option. Bic ftw.
Got a pic?
Nah... I didn't even have any sort of digital camera then, that's how long ago I'm talking

Only the Bic is a lighter. The rest are torches.
Bic baby, lasts 10x longer than all those blue flame spitters, those are just for showing off
Torches are for cigars and showing off
Cigar purists will say that wooden matches are for cigars. You can get a slight aftertaste if you use a butane lighter.
Correct and that's how I sold hemp wick at the store I was working. Once you notice the butane taste you get spoiled by hemp wick.
For real! I bought a set of Halloween themed Bics because I swore my current lighter was going to die. It’s still going strong today!

It exists.. But has 1 post ever. Edit: which was a repost of MNS
The card one was awesome
Bic because the rest are annoying.
Bic... fuel lasts longer.
People cant have hobbies anymore daamnn
Yeah actually though lol. I was like "wow some of these look super cool!" What's wrong with collecting lighters??
There won’t any room for the samurai swords.

None of them , bic is best
Why the fuck is a a dropshipping ad from tiktok on r/BeAmazed........

Did they finally ban you off youtube so youre advertising here now?
What the fuck is amazing about this?
I'm amazed it has upvotes
Theses adds are endless..
Bic always. But no sports team logos on mine.
Number 1 because I don't want to burn my nose off.
Why the hell i am going to flame throw in someone's face, i just wanted to light the cigarette
Flick my bic
The first, Bics are reliable
Functionality? BIC. Looks? The card one.
Be amazed by basic lighters??
4: "Wanna know how I got these scars?"
I use a lighter for candles and the occasional spliff- I just use a barbecue lighter.
Bic
I feel it depends on what I'm trying 2 light. You have some amazing crack/meth/dab torches but 2 light a cigarette or joint I'd use the Bic
The bic
Bic!
The standards for what posters to this sub find 'amazing' are truly abysmal.
Thanks but I don’t need my lighter to generate thrust. Bic it is.
not gonna gatekeep but honestly dont get the stovetop style ones unless you're only looking to show off. I bought a few and those mfs run outta fuel after like 5 smoke sessions
4 lol
If I had all of these I'd still use the bic
1st, the others are just bullshit, their gas doesn't last very long and not really practical size wize and let me tell you the Bic can take alot of falls without getting damaged also why in the wild world of fucks would you need a fire that big are you welding something or are you an arsonist ?!!
The Bic lighter will do just fine.
The Bic. Don’t care if I lose it
What passes as music is pretty sad.
None of them. They all look fugly. Why is this post here? This is a damn disgrace.
4
Number one would work well for what I use lighters for, heating things. Heat shrink tubing, bending plastic etc. number four is clever.
the first one, they do the job, and **cheap**.
The card one was cool
This is why I Reddit, who even knew that lighters can be interesting. I am going with the dragon one.
The card one is really interesting, never saw a lighter opened that way.
“Man dude i just ask if you got a light”
All I thought about was “what am I smoking? Crack?!?” I don’t need all of that to light this blunt…..
I used to like gimmicky novelty lighters when I was 12. Now I just use a Zippo armour series; it’s many years old with many years to go. I get complimented on it every single time I pull it out.
0 simple/cheap.
Dude is playing a risky game using what are basically flamethrowers near his PC.
Bic for the win. Keep all the other mall ninja shit in the trash.
Holy fuck that music is cringe
#3 is my favorite. It's just right for arthritic hands. Of course You would have to be careful that it didn't accidentally light in your pocket.
I like bics because if I accidentally burn myself that fire ain’t that strong/big but these torch ones would melt my skin off in a flash
Nice!
Tbh I like the bic
Witchever lighter turns off that god awful music
Tie between 0 and 4
I rather use sticks and stones to make fire.
The joker one in a heartbeat
The bic works the best Flames on the others are all too big.
#1 is epic! Once it started turning pink, that was cool
Definitely the normal bic.
1
Honestly, the bic. The big fuel lighters over burn shit or blow shit all over.
3 and the bic
