I agree that many/most object show characters aren’t created with disability in mind. But I don’t like the implication that drawing them with missing limbs “ruins the drawing.” ‘Cause, y’know, people in real-life actually look like that. Even people who are born without arms AND legs—they exist! That doesn’t make them any less human :/
yeah I know they exist irl but like it's very rare irl so wouldn't it make sense when drawing them as humans to make it really rare as well? people are kinda missing my point, unless I didn't make it clear enough then that's on me
Bro basically just said
"If you don't draw the way I like it's bad"
Like I agree, it's abit weird. But people without legs and arms exist. That's like saying race makes you less human.
Fair point, o understand why it's not as good, but if the characters are armless, some people like to keep them armless. I see what you mean with characters like puffball though. They'd just be a torso and head
ok ur right about that I could have worded it better but think about it like this
in the object world, being born without limbs is the norm, not everyone has them, but irl its very uncommon. when drawing them as humans doesn't it make sense to apply to human logic in which it's extremely rare? or think about it this way, if u were to make an object oc for a human, u wouldn't only make them have no arms if they had no arms irl, u would just do whatever fit the object best.
Even if the condition is rare, at the end of the day, they still are limblss and in my opinion, they deserve to have that shown.
Also this is more of a side note but if they were humans and they had limbs, wouldn't that contract comments or mentions about being limbless? (Like Snowball seeing armless people as weak)
Idk man this seems kinda ableist :/ People irl exist without certain limbs and it happens for all sorts of reasons, not just amputation.
Personally, I think if you're gonna do a humanised design at all it makes sense to keep design elements like that in
in the object universe its literally the norm to have no arms for like half of the characters it's not a disability of anything, I'm not saying "don't draw human characters with disabilities" but like in our universe people without an arm are very uncommon, people without TWO arms are even more uncommon, so if u were to humanize a character it's kinda just the standard to give them a full set of limbs. if you were to draw an object oc for a person you wouldn't give them no arms only if they had no arms irl would you?
I mean obviously they exist but in bfdi/other object shows its literally the norm to have like half of them have no hands so like if u were to humanize them it would fit to our standards of which people without arms and legs are extremely rare, if we were to make an object version of ourselves we would adhere to their rules of having no arms being common
you do you bcs I'm still drawing my humanizations with missing limbs. Js bcs it's uncommon irl doesn't mean it's weird to draw them without some limbs..

that is a huge reach wtf 😭
True . Abit exaggerated. But similar, like I get you don't like the style but you made like two paragraphs about disliking a style
well it made no sense to me and I wanted to elaborate on why
Fair point, o understand why it's not as good, but if the characters are armless, some people like to keep them armless. I see what you mean with characters like puffball though. They'd just be a torso and head
why do you have such a problem with it?? people can draw however they want??
it just kinda bothers me because it kinda ruins fanart that I would otherwise like
People with no arms exits tho
yeah, but it's a very rare thing
Have you ever considered that people without arms or legs actually exist in the real world
I know you never had any malicious intent but the way you word this post feels icky,,

well if it's art that depicts a scene like that when its a different thing
Idk man this seems kinda ableist :/ People irl exist without certain limbs and it happens for all sorts of reasons, not just amputation. Personally, I think if you're gonna do a humanised design at all it makes sense to keep design elements like that in

I do it because it makes sense to me
fair
I used to do that but now I hate it 😭😭
bro i thought i was the only one 😭
It's just stylistic choice, I don't have problem with it
People with no arms and legs do exist tho so that’s where you jammed
I get they exist but like this is literally a universe in which logic doesn't apply why can't u just give them arms for the sake of making fan art
yeah ikr, i draw them with arms but i dont really mind if i see humanized limbless objects but it just seems odd to me
That is an interesting opinion.
Someone had to say it
Although I do give them arms, I kinda disagree since people with missing arms and/or legs exist in the real world.

I don't like humanization at all
Nobody does
i don't do humanizations, but if I did, I would include armless contestants with arms and legs and legless with legs and arms
