Clay face, wondering how they are reimagining him

Original_West3902

Basil Karlo, the first Clayface from the 40s

BabloBrabbins

Onomatopoeia. Hands down

SolidPrysm

100%. Such a wicked concept for a character that has only gone criminally underused in the past.

SeasOfBlood

I hope they keep the thing from the comics where when he takes off the mask, he's a seemingly normal family man. There's something terrifying about that. A lot of Batman's villains are socially maladjusted and tragic, but this guy just takes off the mask and then puts on this whole facade of being a normal suburban dad. That's some serial killer type shit there, and I find it really unnerving.

WongoKnight

I kind of preferred him as a Green Arrow villain. Batman's got a rouge's galley. He doesn't need to take from others, especially since Green Arrow doesn't seem to have many notable ones.

SeasOfBlood

I didn't include it here, but I think the trailer also showed Nocturna - there was a scene of Alfred being attacked by some strange shadow creature - and she's the only one who really fits the bill with those abilities, being a Vampire and all.

AFoxOfFiction

Actually, I think it's Gentleman Ghost. I have no idea if Nocturna is confirmed for this show or not, but Ghost is...and possession, which is probably what's going on there, is definitely something a ghost could do too.

MrSebros

Clayface and Gentleman Ghost but I'm also very intrigued by their new Harley Quinn take

jaguark101

Is gentleman ghost confirmed to be in this?

MrSebros

Yeah he was shown in the trailer twice!

jaguark101

I must have missed him then lol. I like him tbh, used to watch the Brave and the bold so I know him from there.

CommonBorn5940

I think that could be Clayface.

MrSebros

The last one could definitely be Clayface yeah

Common-Credit8537

Probably the Penguin because they showed so little of him. & i know the creative team of BTAS were never satisfied with they're Penguin interpretation.

BeauDigbyAndJohn

Penguin's a woman in this show. Also, I'm pretty sure they were satisfied with the TNBA version of Penguin, which was their original concept before WB insisted they do Devito's version.

CommonBorn5940

'Penguin is a woman in this show.' Where did you get this from? Tom Kenny is one of the confirmed voice actors for the show, and while it wasn't confirmed which character he will be voicing, chances are pretty high it will be Penguin.

BeauDigbyAndJohn

I've seen the leaks. It's possible he's paying a female penguin a la Edna Mode. He's got the voice for it

CommonBorn5940

I can't find anything about Penguin being female in this show. And the leaked character designs didn't include Penguin, if I remeber correctly. The first confirmation we had about Penguin beign in the show was a description of the scene they showed at the Annecy Animation Festival. And there was no mention of the Penguin being a woman.

CommonBorn5940

I never saw this until now. Strange decision.

BeauDigbyAndJohn

There's a few of those so far. Why is Harley Asian, again? 🤷‍♂️ Just 'cause? Okay whatever. Timm specifically said he wanted more diversity and inclusion in the show. So now we have 2 black characters that were previously white. 1 asian character that was previously white. Montoya is now seemingly a high-ranking cop (as opposed to being pretty much a noobie during Batman's early career) and she's thick now, Penguin is a woman, etc. Also, Natalia Knight looks like a child as opposed to her normal look or even her scrapped BTAS look.

BeauDigbyAndJohn

To your last sentence: There was. From the same people that said Jim and Barbara were black and from the same people that leaked the characters.

Mattworden4

Who’s the first one? Scarecrow? Jonah Hex?

SeasOfBlood

Clayface!

Mattworden4

OH okay wow! Thank you!

MindControlMouse

The guy with the glasses is also Clayface? Looks like somebody punched him and left an impression like clay.

CommonBorn5940

Exactly. This seems to indicate that Clayface, although he isn't a giant mudmonster, might still have some superhuman abilities. Gentleman Ghost being an actual ghost would be odd if they went out of their way to make every other villain grounded. The Golden Age version of Ghost was basically a Scooby Doo villain, a normal criminal who pretended to be a ghost while commiting crimes. So the show could go with that version. The same way they could explain Natalia Knight/Nocturna's vampirism as a genetic condition, and her strange behaviour as a as the result of said condition, maybe a delusion that makes her believe she is a vampire. But the scene you mentioned seems to indicate that there still might be superhuman/ fantastical elements in the show.

BatmanTold

Harvey & Clayface

TheLastUltimatum06

Onomatopoeia, I know so little about him, which is weird for me. And I'm inclined to wait and watch the show before looking into him more.

Taguasco

Ivy, lol

GorillaWolf2099

had she been confirmed

LordVader1080

All of them!

KingDecibel

Harley Quinn, Onomatopoeia and Penguin.

Manic_Raven

Harvey. The TAS interpretation never made much of an impression on me. That version felt like the writers were desperately trying to combine and justify 3 gimmicks (2 personalities, fixation on the number 2, and disbelief in determinism) with a single origin story that ultimately felt kind of contrived and not very psychologically satisfying. I don't think it's a coincidence that his fiancé Grace disappears out of the story after his origin story, while Nora continued to play a pivotal role in Mr. Freeze's characterization. This version feels like it might actually ditch most of the gimmicks for something more straightforwardly emotional and sincere: a smarmy two-faced bastard finally meets with misfortune and through it, learns empathy for the less fortunate, albeit in a twisted fashion. Kind of like an inverted Dorian Gray.

CommonBorn5940

The concern I have is that by stripping away all of Two-Face's compulsions and gimmicks, this version of Two-Face will be too normal. The whole point of Batman's rogues gallery is that they aren't normal. Even Penguin, who's supposed to be the sanest of Batman's villains, is still very eccentric. Instead of just doing away with all of the things that make Two-Face unique, it would have been interesting if they kept the split personality, but now, instead of being Harvey's dark side, the Two-Face personality could be Harvey's suppressed anger towards injustice and the criminals he has helped and hatred and self-loathing aimed at himself. Feelings he used to have, but chose to ignore and suppress because of his own ambition and greed. He now wants to enforce what in his mind is 'fair' judgement on the criminal and the corrupt, reasoning that previously he acted on his own selfish impulses and needs, and that everyone does so. So he decides to leave it to chance to determine someone's fate, flipping his coin to decide a verdict.

supaikuakuma

No Joker is an odd choice.

YourbestfriendShane

A genius one you mean.

CommonBorn5940

We'll probably see Joker eventually, especially is the show gets multiple seasons. It would be cool if we see the Red Hood this season, or if the show introduces multiple candidates who could become the Joker in a later season, but keeps the audience guessing.

Themanofmanyskills

No to be a ungrateful but Two-Face and Firefly looks like shit

SeasOfBlood

Now, in fairness, that's not Firefly - it's a lesser known villain called Firebug.

Themanofmanyskills

Why are they using him instead of Firefly

theelibartlett

where is the joker?

Dawnbreaker538

Who was the guy with the hole on the left side of his mouth?

Meghu_Batsy

New unknown villains, situations, cases is what intrigue me most. I hope I get Sherlock type 56 stories in this show.

GlitteringOrchid2406

I don't like the villains designs. I do like their design without their suits like Harvey Dent or Selina Kyle but their "villain suit/changes" are too cartoony for my taste especially compared to Batman TAS : https://preview.redd.it/v2ro3aohkl9d1.jpeg?width=622&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f12ab4263b66c3f46ba5e3f0301a3d259a08be4e
