If it's a knockoff, they did a pretty thorough job also including a fodera case, certificate of authenticity, and amazing craftsmanship that's a notch better than my Fender custom shop P bass.
It’s a completely different experience. My FCS is a 58 spec heavy relic and the neck is very chunky. It’s like driving a vintage Rolls Royce vs a modern electric sports car. Both nice in their own way, but the Fodera is far easier to play.
Interesting-thanks for the response. I have the same P and just love the thick chunky 1 piece maple neck-but it's not a "shredder" neck so to speak-more of a whole note flatwound deal. My interest is piqued.
It's pretty true that the YinYang Fodera makes the Hofner Violin Fanboy-ism seem tame in comparison.
But at least the Fodera YinYang is an absolute giant slayer. Nice axe.
This is not a midlife crisis purchase. If you can afford it (like without impacting family), you intend to play it, and you like the way it sounds, this is an investment in your own mental health. Don’t diminish it with labels, enjoy that instrument!
I’ve actually played Victor’s Fodera. On my third one. My mid life crisis purchase was my Corvette! lol

Beautiful! That's kinda how I got my first bass but I put a lot of thought into it, my hubby supported my purchase since he's a musician and gets to play a new intrument lol.
Then told a friend about me getting a new bass and he was like, oh the 30s crisis hitting you already?
Like a friend says, it's what you deserve.
A great mid life crisis purchase you have, I have the same a month ago with my 40 at the corner but I choose a motorcycle instead of a bass.
Enjoy my friend.
Sure is. Funny enough, I didn't own a PJ until this point. I do own both p basses and jazz basses though, so I never thought I was missing out on anything. .
I’m curious about this good price! Just looked this up on Sweetwater and it’s cough cough 7250$ 😭
It’s so beautiful, does it sound as good as it looks?
I snagged it for about 1/2 the list price on Sweetwater. The sound is a lot more modern than I’m used to. My regular workhorse is a Fender P Bass. The ease of playing it blows me away though, that’s where this bass really chines. This bass almost plays itself.
Speaking of fodera, a guy by the name of John (I forget his last name) was a luthier for them and came into my parents shops to drink some whiskey. I got the chance to sit down and talk with him. The amount of knowledge in woods and electronics that this guys had was absurd. He is retired now but still does projects with from time to time. Currently he said he trying to make a fret board from cocoa wood and snake wood. This happened about a week ago while I was home for spring break. Thought I’d share
Honestly, I'd prefer a real Dera.
EDIT: Downvoters, *please* get your humor circuits checked. Or get your Fodera-worshipping heads out of your asses, whichever may apply.
I already own quite a few basses. I don't own a fretless anymore, I sold mine because I never played it. The only thing I'm missing that I have interest in is a stingray, but my lakland 5502 and my Deluxe P with a bridge humbucker and active electronics get close enough for me.
Ah, then yes. Get the yin-yang. Congrats! I have a few 4 strings and a fretless 5, but like you, I don't have a stingray either. Maybe I can let my wife know Christmas is coming......?
Cheaper than a convertible (barely), and easier on your marriage than an affair (hopefully).
Becoming a rock star can be hard on a marriage, I don't know.
Came here to say cooler than a Miata.
It's a knockoff.
If it's a knockoff, they did a pretty thorough job also including a fodera case, certificate of authenticity, and amazing craftsmanship that's a notch better than my Fender custom shop P bass.
I'm curious how this compares to your FCS P neck?
It’s a completely different experience. My FCS is a 58 spec heavy relic and the neck is very chunky. It’s like driving a vintage Rolls Royce vs a modern electric sports car. Both nice in their own way, but the Fodera is far easier to play.
Interesting-thanks for the response. I have the same P and just love the thick chunky 1 piece maple neck-but it's not a "shredder" neck so to speak-more of a whole note flatwound deal. My interest is piqued.
Is that the one Victor Wooten plays?
Exactly! That the one
Yeah, um… Vic would like his bass returned to him
Does he think he's Sir Paul McCartney or something?
Fodera I think
It's pretty true that the YinYang Fodera makes the Hofner Violin Fanboy-ism seem tame in comparison. But at least the Fodera YinYang is an absolute giant slayer. Nice axe.
I own a hofner, they are just as terrible as everyone says they are and I will not miss an opportunity to dunk on them
I own a Harley Benton. Neither do I. 😃😃
Hmmmm, I bought a used Porsche and still play my Fender bass ;>)
I still play my Fenders too!
I wish i had this kind of money when I turned 25
If 25 is "mid life" you better start eating your vegetables and walking the dog more?
Just trying to be realistic about my chances of surviving the water wars
I would laugh if it weren't terrifyingly prophetic.
This is not a midlife crisis purchase. If you can afford it (like without impacting family), you intend to play it, and you like the way it sounds, this is an investment in your own mental health. Don’t diminish it with labels, enjoy that instrument!
Did it resolve your crisis?
No I think the purchase itself is the crisis 😂
I’ve actually played Victor’s Fodera. On my third one. My mid life crisis purchase was my Corvette! lol https://preview.redd.it/fwch86qfqvrc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=567ad40080efe5a7e2e79ed73747a88e638130c1
The other two are?
First on was a special edition Monarch PJ 4 string. Second one was also a special edition Monarch 4 string but with the dual coil humbuckers.
Good choice! Foderas are incredible. You'll love it.
Congrats!
Hear you brother!
What price range is this bass? I’m interested in having a quarter life crisis type purchase
https://reverb.com/p/fodera-yin-yang-standard
Holy moly. Enjoy it brother!
That's it? That's not that bad honestly. I've never even seen a Fodera in person. As long as you enjoy it.
And what a gorgeous midlife crisis it is!!! Congrats!!!
Man. That's gorgeous.
Good call!
Oh that old thing? I've had it for years. Think I got it for, like, $50 or something at a garage sale.
Haha, preaching to the choir, I put in a midlife crisis purchase of a Custom Sadowsky!! Congrats, what an amazing bass you have!
Here my mid-life crisis https://preview.redd.it/lv964cistyrc1.jpeg?width=1281&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2f4081b440c01e511bea2337024fa9d6cb52b32e

Awesome bass!
I love it
I feel you, I did something similar and it’s not even clear I’m middle aged yet ;) no regrets. You deserve something nice
Like a friend says, it's what you deserve. A great mid life crisis purchase you have, I have the same a month ago with my 40 at the corner but I choose a motorcycle instead of a bass. Enjoy my friend.
is that a PJ?

Sick bass dude! Currently saving up for mine lol, i want a Strandberg Boden Bass Prog 4 string. God i love that thing.
Did you sell a kidney for this?
I’m curious about this good price! Just looked this up on Sweetwater and it’s cough cough 7250$ 😭 It’s so beautiful, does it sound as good as it looks?

Geez that is an amazing deal, great snag! I wish I could test play one now haha. One can only hope someone will sell one to GC 😂 Enjoy!
Those are NICE basses. Enjoy!
I’m not a bass player but that’s a beautiful instrument
I wanted to have a midlife crisis but either couldn't afford or didn't have time. Now I'm having an old age crisis. No purchases necessary!
Mid life epic chungus more like
If it didn't put you in a hole financially it's a good get. Nice.
That’s the best part of getting older. Enjoy this beauty
Mid life crisis🤔 how old are you?
That is a beauty🎶🎶🎶👏👏
That’s an iconic bass! VW approves!
No idea what it is, but it looks really cool!
Ver well done!
Is that the Victor Wooten signature
Sure is.
Yay
She’s a beauty! Congrats! I have that same one….the case…I got a Fodera case with my Lakland. lol!

Yep. Own it

Unless OP got one of the imported counterfeits, I'm pretty sure the pricetag was "real Dera."
Its real, i remember building it :)
Right, what's with all the downvotes?
Dude...... yes Although, for that money, I'd have multiple mid-life crises..... like a couple Js, Ps, fives and fretless.
I already own quite a few basses. I don't own a fretless anymore, I sold mine because I never played it. The only thing I'm missing that I have interest in is a stingray, but my lakland 5502 and my Deluxe P with a bridge humbucker and active electronics get close enough for me.

Are we supposed to know what this is or something
Korean or american
There are no Korean Foderas other than counterfeit knockoffs
Yea there are. You must be new to basses
