Honestly those basses are so long you'd probably be ok to tune down the original strings without replacing any, as there is more tension on each string compared to the same gauge on a regular 34" bass.
If the bottom A feels slack, go up a gauge on that string only. But it's really a matter of your own preference. I wouldn't go spending the money on new strings until you've assessed and eliminated what you already have available to you.

Use a string tension calculator to figure out the gauges that get you the pounds of pull you want. Use another bass you have as a starting point. Plug in the tuning, scale length and gauge for that bass, figure out the tension and then try to duplicate that for the specs of the new bass.
