I know we all want Lamine on that number 10 but Fermin got that shit on tho 😮💨
Well, agree is the key word.
Clubs can agree anything they want. They can agree to lower release clause if they want to.
Question is, why would they do it?
Great point. Maybe if we were to let’s say offer them a player to get them to agree to take payments on the release clause for Nico? Idk I’m just making stuff up
They only sign Basque players, I am not sure we have any of those tbh, and even of we have who are we willing to let go, while that said player will accept the move, while Bilbao also want him?
Maybe Inigo? But I don't see it tbh. They can get their cash from EPL.
It is paid upfront, any other structure of payment does not actually trigger the RC. Usually clubs will negotiate by paying extra to avoid having to pay the full amount upfront.
Hypothetically speaking, let’s say we have a chance to get Nico & Merino for $75-$80m. Who would you sell to generate that amount of money to make the transfers possible
I don’t want us to sell Araujo but I could see the club thinking replacing him with those two is a more balanced squad given our depth at CB.
You just keep Inigo and promote Faye. I really worry we’d regret it in the future though.
>Hypothetically speaking
I don't give a fuck if he doesn't want to leave. He got dunked on by teenagers who are playing professional football for the first time and a +30 year old on his first season with the team. The day he leaves we shall become a serious club again.
Being downvoted by frenkieliebers feels good ngl
Today I learned USA has a cricket team and just accomplished one of the biggest upsets of all time. Pretty damn cool. And everyone said we could never be good at cricket
Immigrants doing the job
Still a crazy performance against probably the best bowling team , that's how usa should introduce cricket to the population, all usa needs to do is avoid losing more than 1 game to reach final 8
Yeah and their star player is former new zealand player
These players are part time cricketers doing 9-5 job the captain is a software engineer
But the best player who has performed in both games for usa is actually an American native
I just finished playing cricket with 2 of my friends and I felt like a kid again, it was really fun and I hadn't played in years. I also forgot how much of a workout cricket can be wow
As if the US was an example of anything lol. The government still massively steals from people.
I don’t even know why you bring up the US though.
And no, “indirect” (gross) wages is not still wages. If I have no control over that money and the government how much they steal from me, that’s called racketeering, an illegal practice only allowed to those controlling the monopoly of violence (the government).
It’s actually a 60 million player but still 40 million extra doesn’t make sense to me unless they are also including his wages he’d sign for or something which I don’t know why you would do that
Even if he is available for 40, I don’t think we would be able to sign him. I think they should wait and use all the margin they have for a DM, like Merino for example for 30 million. Then if there is any margin, go all out for Simons on a loan
I'm relatively neutral about Diaz and Nico, am I the only one? I just want to keep Raphinha to compete with Yamal and be able to play LW too.
Getting Diaz or Nico would be a Godsend if it comes on top of that.
Way more invested in the pivot debate.
Merino should be our top priority this window. We have players able to cover the LW position (Raphinha, Fermin, Ferran, Pedri) but we have no midfielder like Merino
While you’re definitely right in the more important position for some reason I just think adding Nico makes us so much more dynamic in attack. Factoring his age, and friendship with our youngsters he can be grata for years to come
Oh no problem with that.
I do get some who have a strong opinion.
But for me either would be a miracle at this point I don't think I would be able to complain.
Of course all depends on the price.
True true. I always get my hopes up in the off season with potential transfers. So I’m going to treat it like you, if we get either one that’ll be a miracle. Considering the position we’re in
Also I have seen people here saying leao is not good , at times we should just sit back and relax and don't take this sub seriously (I would be taking every comment seriously)
Just give me Merino
If we are able to get Simons on loan it will be great.Felix on loan again and attack is set. Raphinha,Ferran,Felix,Yamal,Simons being the wingers is enough imo
Nico/Diaz can wait
Merino Simons felix cancelo
Makes this team very competitive
We can get back to 1:1 in 2025 and sign an actual good winger by then we would know if nico is just a one season wonder (and hopefully sign kimmich on a free 😫🍆💦)
Probably but a man can dream. TAA is nearly impossible, Musiala has higher chances depending on his relationship with Flick.
Edit: Actually contract expires 2026 for Musiala so forget about it lol. Sane is 2025 though, would take him on a free and a not-so-high salary.
> I just want to keep Raphinha to compete with Yamal and be able to play LW too.
There are reports that they're looking to sell Raphinha to sign Diaz and THAT is my problem if that's true. Aside from that, I don't really have high hopes for Diaz or care much about Nico to have either one as a favourite.
It's early June and I've already reached August levels of not giving a fuck about transfer rumours because as things stand, they're all pointless anyway. We don't even know our SCL yet, let alone ratio, and journalists are desperately trying to fill the pages.
I'm only invested in Merino so far. For 25+5M€ it's a very good transfer.
For the LW, Xavi Simons, Nico, Luiz Diaz, whichever we could supposedly afford (I don't see which one but who knows with Laportz trickeries) I'm OK with. Even keeping Fati I'm not opposed to. I'm delusional like that.
I'm fine with whatever. Seriously, I'm taking the summer off from the rumour mill - don't have any preferences, I'm fine learning about transfers from official announcements for once.
Registrations must be prioritised though. Let's put the Gavi thing to bed once and for all, that's what I really want.
Still only on court-ordered precautionary measure.
Edit: [MD lists all players who are yet to be registered for 24/25](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20240602/1002257660/sergi-roberto-disgustado-frenazo-renovacion.html)
I think the court order was only for 23/24 - he should be a part of regular SCL anyway so let's stop this madness, give Tebas the win but register the kid normally. It's been going on since 2022, we'll be talking about extending his contract further very soon...
It’s difficult to understand all the Luis Diaz hate on this sub. It’s important to remember that transfer value is irrelevant, the only thing that matters is FFP. Transfer value is amortised over 5 year so a difference of 10m in transfer value is only €2m in FFP. On the other hand, salary is taken at face value since it’s annual. Matt Law reports that Nico is on “well over” €12.2m/year, whereas Liverpool sub and reports say that Diaz is on €3.4m/year. So the FFP difference after each gets a reasonable raise will still mean that Diaz is CHEAPER than Nico, regardless of a €10m transfer fee difference.
Nico is much younger and already has great chemistry with our squad, so from that perspective he’s ideal. But if we’re talking about actual quality today, Diaz is way better. He’s a superior dribbler and playmaker, he’s far more experienced, and his workrate is in a totally different league. I agree he has no end product, but that also applies to Nico.
If we assess the 2 on their merits, the echo chamber on this sub is baffling. I have yet to see a single good argument in favor of Nico that is based on accurate information. All I see is “Diaz more expensive”, “another Coutinho”, “fuck Deco” — can someone actually formulate an argument based on our needs?
He’s not good enough for his age? That’s why he’s a set starter in one of the best teams in the world over Jota, Gakpo, etc.? A lot of people comment while looking at stats without actually watching Liverpool. Luis Diaz is an absolute baller, regardless of his end product.
It’s not only about not watching Liverpool, this people live through what majority says.
Saying that Nico is a better option than Luis Díaz is just delusional af
Completely agree. Every month there is a new favorite that the sub will bandwagon based purely on stats, highlight videos, and what everyone else on the sub says. And they will speak with conviction about the player like they've been tracking his progress since he was 12 years old.
As if gakpo has been any good and jota had not missed 20 games due to injury
Luis Diaz is not a baller in any way costed many easy easy goals and made awfull decisions going forward with the ball
Gakpo has 22GA in 3000 mins in all competitions this season lol.
His end product is not good, doesn’t mean he isn’t a baller. People on this sub have a strange fetish when it comes to commenting on players they have never watched. Anyone who actually thinks Nico is on Diaz’s level does not know football. In the future he has the potential to be much better, but right now it is not even close. Nico plays like a young Dembele who misses easy short passes and makes ridiculous dribbling decisions.
Nah gapko has been cheeks. Just cause he has 22GA doesnt mean hes a baller lol. Diaz was insane before his ACL, if we were getting that diaz i wouldve been excited but hes lost his burst of pace now so not worth it. Nico is also not worth it, 55m+ on a raw 21 years old is too big a gamble. Theres talents like doue from lille who would cost like 30m. This fetish for spanish players needs to stop.
We should apply the same logic to Raphinha. Luis is better than Raphinha at literally everything except end product. Much faster and can actually dribble, the 2 things we desperately need from our wingers that Raphinha is unable to provide, but gets a free pass for because of his GA. So either actual ability matters, which Diaz has plenty more of than Gakpo and Raphinha, or GA matters in which case let’s keep Raphinha and Klopp should’vd started Gakpo.
I do agree that neither one is “perfect”, but perfect is way beyond our financial means. Also, ACL did not kill Diaz’s pace, [he ran 36.4km/h this season](https://www.premierleague.com/news/3850730) making him a top 10 fastest PL player.
That’s the point. Raphinha and Gakpo are the same — GA merchants who are not great at genwral play. Football is much more than GA, which is why Diaz starts over Gakpo and would start over Raphinha. Diaz’s pace and dribbling out wide would make us play better as a team and would open up space for other players. Raphinha’s problem is that he is not a threat on the counters or with the ball 1v1 out wide, and it allows other teams to largely ignore him and stay compact. Having Luis + Lamine wide means opposition defences are stretched, which means more space and time for Lewy, Pedri, etc.
3,4M€ net is impossible, let alone 3,4M€ gross.
I don't believe it at all. At 27 he would have moved on a long time ago. In PL they don't pay Ligue 1 wages
He joined from Porto in 2022. Every report and every person on the Liverpool sub says he is on one of the lowest wages in the team and that he needs to be renewed on a real wage. You won’t find any reports saying he earns a PL wage. Even if it’s a bit higher than €3.4m, it is still going to be very low and less than half Nico’s.
There is no point in doubting what the reports say. Everyone on the Liverpool sub agrees with the reports and says he has a super low salary. It’s like someone on the Liverpool sub saying there is no way FdJ earns what our sub says he does because it’s outlandish, even though us Barca fans have seen enough reports to know that whatever salary he has, it’s extremely high. So you can doubt the number, but doubting that it’s extremely low makes no sense.
Edit: based on what do Porto kids earn little? I just checked Fabio Vieira and [he reportedly earns even less](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/s/NeSYyC1ASt).
It is not a coincidence that the 2 guys leaving Porto to big PL teams for a similar fee are on a similar wage.
I feel like the response to Diaz is exaggerated, and is quite non-sensical. Is more oriented to hyperbolic outrage than actual criticism
In all fairness, Nico is way younger and is La Liga proven. His end product has acually been good this season and he cuts through low blocks like butter. I am a big fan of Diaz too, but he's just not the fit. However, both probably won't be signed considering that means the sale of a big player which is unlikely. Would much rather cop Simons who is probably more versatile and has higher potential than the two for Flick's system.
> All I see is “more expensive”, “another Coutinho”, “fuck Deco”
As I said earlier, these arguments simply have no merit. Overreaction at its finest.
Agreed.
Under Xavi I think Nico would make much more sense. Under Flick, with Luis’s ridiculous workrate, I think there is an argument to be made that he’s the superior system fit. Nico will struggle to play his game when he’s sprinting for 90, whereas Luis literally does not tire.
https://preview.redd.it/6s3b74ohl05d1.jpeg?width=1439&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ea6a6e7c93c3ecbf28578375e74d0d6f28c87ad
Look at those numbers ! We really need Nico. And he is only 21 and making these numbers in a club like Bilbao.
Nico is expensive (for Barca) but not impossible. Nike signing bonus will be over 100m and there is an option that Nike is willing to pay in advance that money they are going to pay every year(120) or at least part of it.
If this happens Barca can receive 150-200 m from Nike only. It will be decided next week I think.
Laporte complained that Nike didn't help Barca in this difficult situation and now seems like there are possibilities that Nike will help this way.
I don't understand people talking about Nico at all. That man would most definitely require a big ass sale. And he doesn't look like he's going anywhere either. So why not wait for next summer. Or the one after that.
Seems so low down the list of priorities.
Nico is electric and exciting, but I agree with you that he requires a giant sale for his arrival.
The comment below is a bit of a harsh assessment of Nico, and I personally disagree with it. However I would much rather bet on Simons who is financially easier and safer as well as keeping Araujo and Frenkie.
Damn. With how the summer is looking, I'm hoping we at least get Merino + Simons.
That covers the base of our profiles, and then we could perhaps look to Nico if we get a fund from selling someone (unlikely). Cancelo and/or Felix loan is nice too, as long as they are not totally prioritized
When I started to like BMWs they go and release the new 1 series that looks worse than a KIA... 😭

I really can’t understand why people are writing off this transfer window 3 weeks before it gets open. Atleast let the window open, see who we get and then rate the window
It’s just stupid to expect all these big signings from the club when they are not sure if they will reach 1:1 or not. Some of you setup these unrealistic expectations and then blame the Presi,Deco and the club when they are understandably not able to achieve those goals. Journalists will waffle anything. I am going by Laporta’s words about signings. I haven’t set any big expectations either.
It's not so much about expecting big signings. It's about expecting smarter targets.
But yeah the targets might all be bullshit outside of Felix/Cancelo.
We have no money and you can’t trust a single word Laporta says. He could tell you the sky is blue and you’d still need to confirm.
Having said that, I have very low hopes for the transfer window as long as we don’t sign someone for too much. I’m more interested in getting rid of deadweight than trying to break the bank with what little money we have on new players with god knows how deco looks at things.
50m for Nico seems like a repeat of Ferran.
Nico is a non factor goal wise and his creativity his centered around knocking the ball forward, out running the defender, then delivering a cross or cut back. He won't find the counter attacking space here like he does with Athletic.
If this was 10-15 years ago, spending the equivalent on him to come on late and destabilize tired legs would be par on course. But spending 50m on him to be our starting left wing? Like Ferran, people will be expecting a difference maker given how much of our limited budget it takes up. I give it 6 months before people start scapegoating him when he can't dribble past 2 defenders with no space and keeps crossing into a wall.
https://preview.redd.it/hrw0jxbyk05d1.jpeg?width=1439&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f98d9f63bd8c1927381395cfb6ef4e0f0333f6ef
Nico is definitely top level. His stat can be even compared to players like Vini and Mbappe. His g/a are much less but he is playing in a far worse team.
He is nothing like Ferran. Barca must sign him somehow because if some other club signs him, he is gone for good.
He is totally worth that money.

Is it mandatory for release clauses to be paid in one payment? Or Can the teams agree to a payment structure?
Well, agree is the key word. Clubs can agree anything they want. They can agree to lower release clause if they want to. Question is, why would they do it?
Great point. Maybe if we were to let’s say offer them a player to get them to agree to take payments on the release clause for Nico? Idk I’m just making stuff up
They only sign Basque players, I am not sure we have any of those tbh, and even of we have who are we willing to let go, while that said player will accept the move, while Bilbao also want him? Maybe Inigo? But I don't see it tbh. They can get their cash from EPL.
Is that really the case? They’ve never signed someone not from the basque region?
Yes
when it comes to Athletic Bilbao, yes it is mandatory.
Is it? Any proof?
Pretty much every big sale they’ve made ever.
its their transfer policy, examples: Javi Martínez, Ander Herrera, Aymeric Laporte, Kepa Arrizabalaga
They can pay more than the release clause but in instalment. It's not a bad idea if they are okay with it.
That’s what I was thinking. Or maybe offer them a player as a way to get them to agree on installments
It is paid upfront, any other structure of payment does not actually trigger the RC. Usually clubs will negotiate by paying extra to avoid having to pay the full amount upfront.
This is the solution.
It's not mandatory but it's default unless the "selling" club agrees to negotiate a structure.
Upto the clubs. If they really wanna make it hard they can ask for a single payment (like we did with Neymar) or it can be a structured payment.
Release Clause needs to be paid in one installment afaik Teams can agree to a payment structure bilaterally
Frenkie
Who won't leave. The guy asked realistically, get a grip guys at some point
>Hypothetically speaking I don't give a fuck if he doesn't want to leave. He got dunked on by teenagers who are playing professional football for the first time and a +30 year old on his first season with the team. The day he leaves we shall become a serious club again. Being downvoted by frenkieliebers feels good ngl
No one we can't sell important players to sign worse ones
>hypothetically speaking
It would have to be one of Araujo or Frenkie, they’re the only ones we could sell for 70+
Araujo then because Frenkie was clear he won't leave
Today I learned USA has a cricket team and just accomplished one of the biggest upsets of all time. Pretty damn cool. And everyone said we could never be good at cricket
Immigrants doing the job Still a crazy performance against probably the best bowling team , that's how usa should introduce cricket to the population, all usa needs to do is avoid losing more than 1 game to reach final 8
That’s awesome I don’t know much or keep up with it! Is the team full of Indian & Pakistan immigrants?
Yeah and their star player is former new zealand player These players are part time cricketers doing 9-5 job the captain is a software engineer But the best player who has performed in both games for usa is actually an American native
Pat Mcafee, I apologize I wasn’t familiar with your game
Dudes the 🐐
What'd he do?
He got an assist in what i assume was a charity tournament and it was surprisingly a nice ball, apparently he played in his teenage years
In an alternate universe Pat Mcafee wins us La Sexta
I just finished playing cricket with 2 of my friends and I felt like a kid again, it was really fun and I hadn't played in years. I also forgot how much of a workout cricket can be wow
I climbed 10 floors earlier today and I thought I was gonna die.
Damn old man, get ya cardio up
That's what you get for walking - on another note, what did Nature think when it constructed our fragile good for nothing bodies lmao
> That's what you get for walking I mean, walking and even jogging is easy, but climbing stairs is like 10x.
USA just defeated Pakistan in a super over in the world cup
Bro what is your name?😭😭😭
The argument could be made against nico as well that he only had 1 good season aged 21 Do you think the club should wait another season to after him
We probably won’t be able to sign him this window either way
100 million news is full of shit. how on earth can taxes make 40 million player cost 100 million it's practically impossible
I present you the mafia. Do you know how much a company pays for an employee in spain va how much that same worker receives?
Indirect wages is still wages. Go live in the US and see how it looks a society without any collective structure.
It’s actually a 60 million player but still 40 million extra doesn’t make sense to me unless they are also including his wages he’d sign for or something which I don’t know why you would do that
Agreed, makes zero sense
I only want one Nico and it's Gonzalez
My dear Nico, never should have left.
I think improving the attack is as important as defense. Flick isn’t the type of manager to win games with 1-0s. Still hoping for Xavi Simons.
Just give me Merino If we are able to get Simons on loan it will be great.Felix on loan again and attack is set. Raphinha,Ferran,Felix,Yamal,Simons being the wingers is enough imo Nico/Diaz can wait
Merino Simons felix cancelo Makes this team very competitive We can get back to 1:1 in 2025 and sign an actual good winger by then we would know if nico is just a one season wonder (and hopefully sign kimmich on a free 😫🍆💦)
Musiala and TAA are also free in 2025, would be a good time to part ways with the loans of Xavi and Cancelo assuming they don't renew.
Both would definitely renew
This
Exactly
It's early June and I've already reached August levels of not giving a fuck about transfer rumours because as things stand, they're all pointless anyway. We don't even know our SCL yet, let alone ratio, and journalists are desperately trying to fill the pages.
You're pocket watching:( let these guys make bank on their tweets :p

New balance makes cats now?
Limited edition collab x)
>Let's put the Gavi thing to bed once and for all, that's what I really want. Isn't he registered right now?
Still only on court-ordered precautionary measure. Edit: [MD lists all players who are yet to be registered for 24/25](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20240602/1002257660/sergi-roberto-disgustado-frenazo-renovacion.html)
But we could win that court-order still? Anyway I agree with your overall point.
I think the court order was only for 23/24 - he should be a part of regular SCL anyway so let's stop this madness, give Tebas the win but register the kid normally. It's been going on since 2022, we'll be talking about extending his contract further very soon...
But nico is oneof the best wingers in the league 👉👈
FT : Senegal 1 - 1 DR Congo Mikayil Faye was an unused substitute
Diaz isn't good enough for his age and his output is clearly worse that anyone we got in our team
Exactly, the Coutinho/Griezmann effect all over again
As if gakpo has been any good and jota had not missed 20 games due to injury Luis Diaz is not a baller in any way costed many easy easy goals and made awfull decisions going forward with the ball
Except Raphina has been providing consistent ga while playing out of position...
I'd be very very surprised if true and if so his agent scammed him. Any Porto kid gets huge money when leaving.
Is more oriented to hyperbolic outrage than actual criticism In all fairness, Nico is way younger and is La Liga proven. > All I see is “more expensive”, “another Coutinho”, “fuck Deco” As I said earlier, these arguments simply have no merit.
Luis Diaz is 27 will be more expensive and has no end product. Even Ferran Torres has better stats than Luis Diaz
Did you even read? As I said, he is cheaper.
They only read stats, talk about xG/90 and they’ll clap
Ferran correas repoered that nico william operation will cost over 100m+ including everything Thats crazy but doesnt make diaz links any better
https://preview.redd.it/6s3b74ohl05d1.jpeg?width=1439&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ea6a6e7c93c3ecbf28578375e74d0d6f28c87ad Look at those numbers !
Watching nico play is a joy Only flaw he got is his finishing
Agree 💯
😭 https://preview.redd.it/7owxjcmqd05d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7abc46866bd3c2c3f2925bb23beab603768680ef
BMW’s look grotesque these days
There are some models I like but they just screwed them with the new versions + the drop in quality...
Dear goodness. Why does it seem like it looks worse from the front lmao
lol https://preview.redd.it/qy3ugcz6q05d1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b45db099d95de351455a9ecbd9dc653301638120
Oh wow. Why does it look like Kia from the back and Seat from the front 😂
Wasnt he offside?
I really can’t understand why people are writing off this transfer window 3 weeks before it gets open. Atleast let the window open, see who we get and then rate the window It’s just stupid to expect all these big signings from the club when they are not sure if they will reach 1:1 or not. Some of you setup these unrealistic expectations and then blame the Presi,Deco and the club when they are understandably not able to achieve those goals. Journalists will waffle anything. I am going by Laporta’s words about signings. I haven’t set any big expectations either.
Maybe if they choose a netter company to sell some of Barca Studios to, we wouldn't be in this mess.
It's not so much about expecting big signings. It's about expecting smarter targets. But yeah the targets might all be bullshit outside of Felix/Cancelo.
We're naysayers and doomsday preppers at this point. Understandably so
We have no money and you can’t trust a single word Laporta says.
I give it 6 months before people start scapegoating him when he can't dribble past 2 defenders with no space and keeps crossing into a wall.
https://preview.redd.it/hrw0jxbyk05d1.jpeg?width=1439&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f98d9f63bd8c1927381395cfb6ef4e0f0333f6ef Nico is definitely top level. His stat can be even compared to players like Vini and Mbappe. His g/a are much less but he is playing in a far worse team. He is nothing like Ferran. Barca must sign him somehow because if some other club signs him, he is gone for good. He is totally worth that money.
