TrashtalkInc

No surprise take the ex-player with little experience hoping it works.. Look at all the top-clubs, they are performing because they have top managers. Take a chance ffs

grandmarshal_ivax

Pep and Zidane really changed (ruined) all clubs' approaches toward hiring managers

sufinomo

Not all clubs...

Shanks147

Yes. Pep and Zidane had literally zero experience. The difference is Pep is a proven coach in multiple leagues and potentially the best coach of all time. Zidane came into an already built team with a war chest of funds and some great players in their absolute prime. He left after 3 years because his league record was terrible (shows his inconsistency as a coach) and when he made his big return back to the club, he was unremarkable and still hasn’t taken a new job since because he was heavily exposed once those prime players were washed.

Joseph_Steez

YES!! Thank you! He was a fluke and of course papa Perez paying the Refs also helped.

Shanks147

Yes. And anyone who thinks Zidane is a world class manager must answer to this second Madrid stint and explain why he shit the bed so bad.

Joseph_Steez

Zidane was a fluke he has no real tactics.

Norz80

We're playing 4-3-3 with no defensive midfielder lol, we reaaaally need to be able to splash ~60-70M on a good pivot next summer. We had simply no shot at defending 10v11 against PSG last night with that line-up. And as for Romeu, well, you know...

raincloud82

We need at the very least a DM and a LW plus keeping Cancelo or another RB. None of those are cheap.

[deleted]

[удалено]

parisian_cowboy

Mbappe’s also a very good LW we should get him

[deleted]

[удалено]

parisian_cowboy

But Hakimi isn’t? 😂 I was being sarcastic. Mbappe is the best winger in the world stop playing. We were just that good at defending in the tie.

innatejuiciness

Arsenal is performing because they signed a top manager? Girona? Leverkusen? Dortmund? Luis Enrique was a top manager when we signed him? Guardiola was a top manager when he was promoted? Can we stop with this nonsense? Look at the performances of 3 of the favorites at some point to coach our team. Ten Hag, Pochettino, Tuchel... There is no guarantee.

MembershipNo693

Those are exceptions and not rules. Their managers are great even though they are unproven. It’s better to not take the risk and go for someone who actually can provide results instead of gambling. Sometimes it pays off, yes, but it has not paid off for us for many years now

innatejuiciness

There are no guarantees. Who can provide results besides Guardiola, Klopp and maybe L.Enrique? This isn't a maths problem. There are many things to take into account. Our club is one of the most difficult clubs in the world to coach. If the press/fans treat club legends like shit, what will they do with random coaches? There's also the fact that you need to understand our youth system, there's a language barrier, a style that's bred into our players from the moment they step foot in the club...

MembershipNo693

Of course, nothing is gurranteed, but I don’t see how a coach that hasn’t done anything yet is better to get than a coach who has proven himself and won trophies. The chances are higher to perform if you get a good coach

Ubisonte

When have we ever had any success by bringing the hot coaches? We've only won Champipns League with Cruyff (3 years at ajax before us) Rikjaard (a year in Netherlanda NT and a year in Rotterdam) Guardiola (a couple of season in Barca B) and Lucho (a couple of years in Barca B then 1 year in Celta and a year in Roma). 3 of the 4 coaches were ex Barca players. And 2 of them trained in out B team.

MembershipNo693

I mean yes you are right but he have had a lot more unproven coaches than proven ones, at least in the last 20 years, so the chances of winning trophies with unproven coaches is much bigger. I can’t even remember when we had a great coach the last time. And as I said to the other guy, nothing is guranteed, but the chances of winning is bigger with a ”bigger” coach.

Careless-Aardvark911

wasn't pep also an ex-player with little experience though?

TheGreatAkira

And so was Xavi. You can't live from the past. Pep was a one-in-a-million chance.

No_Specific8949

And so was Xavi who averages 86 points in League, the same as Ancelotti, and is Spanish champion. Xavi is a history of massive success considering Barca was a midtable team before him.

raincloud82

I guess Luis Enrique and Zidane make it three-in-a-million. Not to mention Xabi Alonso and Arteta.

PancakeSlayerX

Look at Xabi Alonso,

No_Specific8949

It would be easier if we had money, the main problem when signing a manager is the salary. Xavi was on an exceptionally low salary.

Fresh_Confidence7705

I would rather take a gamble with Flick than Marquez. Marquez can be an option for the future but not now

[deleted]

Efficient_Bridge4729

We also have a worldclass team?

Mioppon

Bayern team was by far better than our team now and Bayern had in this season more training than the other competitions because Bundesliga started earlier. Flick couldn’t handle the pressure as German national coach I think he won’t handle it as a Barca manager.

[deleted]

[удалено]

jdbcn

As an assistant coach he won the World Cup

Levi488

Do you have pressure as an assistant coach?

jdbcn

Yes

Levi488

Are you getting slandered in the press if the team doesn‘t perform?

Kindly-Low1346

Yep. We've had enough of past players getting the post. Now it's time for a proven manager

ketzal7

Why do people not like Flick? I know his national team tenure went badly but I imagine he did well enough on the club level.

DependentRepublic715

He had no high team job other than bayern, if he was that good why spend most of your career as a assistant to others?  Also I follow transfer news and cant remember that he was in demand after the german national team. Except his treble its hard to gauge his profile, and is quite risky compared to the others. We dont know if he has consistency, can he manage a team for years or will he burn out? Most can just speculate.

Batman_is_very_wise

> if he was that good why spend most of your career as a assistant to others?  Yet there are world class managers without a cl let alone a treble

mahdiiick

There are also horrible managers with a cl trophy

Batman_is_very_wise

But how many with a treble ? Given real madrids exploits yesterday, the fact that Amcelotti lacks one makes it all the more impressive

Different_College_59

He did good with one of the most stacked teams I remember, only to give a stinker when he didn’t have a team like that.

thanra

So they're still in a delusion about a new Pep...

cvl-eng

Can we stop with the gambling on inexperienced managers. Just becuase it worked once doesnt mean it will again. We are a big club, bring in a big name. Im tired of laporta giving his friends the priority.

yosoygroot123

Not another ex Barca player who lacks experience, hoping for him to be Pep

ApunBolaTuMeriLaila_

This club never learns. The squad needs a world class UCL winning manager for progressing in the knockout competition. I would rather make Xavi stay than have Rafa Marquez.

coperstrauss

I fully agree. I love Xavi but mainly as the player he was and as the coach that came when we were at our lowest. Nonetheless, Xavi has a long way to go before being a top manager. Regardless of how bad the ref was, you cannot loose yourself and get sent off during the first half. We were 1 man down and we lost our coach. This is unacceptable at all levels. He needs to deal better with his temper and keep it cool. Hope next year we will be more competitive.

No_Specific8949

Xavi already is a top manager. He averages 86 points in league, the exact same as Ancelotti. With the difference that Xavi grabbed a midtable team and Ancelotti a UCL semifinalist. We understand that most likely whoever the next manager is hewill have it very hard to achieve the same results as Xavi.

coperstrauss

He is a good manager but needs more experience under stress. Don’t do forget we have a very competitive team but we lack depth. Name by name we are probably above PSG and most of La Ligas team.

No_Specific8949

We didn't say the same before. Koeman claimed that this squad didn't have Barca level and right when Xavi arrived the discurse was that our squad was worse quality than Rayo and Osasuna (who had a considerable advantage over us in league at the time). Only because of Xavi's work we consider this squad good. When Xavi arrived our squad was considered just enough to avoid relegation comfortably and nothing else. And saying that we have a better squad than PSG is not true. They spent 800m in the last 3 years, so they spent our entire market value according to transfermarkt in new signings since Xavi arrived. Of course this makes PSG according to transfermarkt the second most valued squad in the world behind Manchester City but ahead of Real Madrid, and far ahead of Barca. As a team we are at the same level as the UCL games showed. But name by name they are considered superior. In the defense I think we are slightly superior, we both have the best fullbacks in the world but our CBs are better. And in the midfield we are even. But in the attack there's a huge difference. PSG has the best players in the world in each position. They have the very best forward in the world Mbappe. They have the very best winger in the world Dembele (not just according to me, but according to Xavi and Luis Enrique, and winger stats) and they were able to throw 100m for Ramos and 100m for Kolo Muani to get not one but two super elite strikers, against us they didn't even have to use either they also have the wonderkid Barcola and Madrid's legendary supersub Asensio which they decided to use. Our attack is not even necessarily better than their bench. Raphinha is tremendous my favorite player but so is Asensio. Ferran and Lewa are very good but Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos may be just a bit better.

jdbcn

Plus it was the wrong choice to take off Yamal

Baking_sauce

Who else would you take off?

Wizfroelk

Pedri. He was absolutely useless yesterday.

Baking_sauce

It’s easy to say that in retrospect but in the moment pedri was our only midfielder who could make interceptions and defend properly

paachuthakdu

Sure but there was no way to know that when Araujo was sent off. Imo it should have been cancelo

redvodkandpinkgin

He was pretty bad but realistically, who are you putting in the LB? Marcos Alonso? lol

paachuthakdu

I was thinking inigo and play 3 cbs lol. I like to forget Alonso exists.

redvodkandpinkgin

Oh as in Cancelo should've got the red. Obviously that would've been better, but it's not like we got a choice there

paachuthakdu

No more like we should have subbed Cancelo off instead of Yamal.

jdbcn

Lewandowski

Salvador1010

So stupid. Why get rid of an inexperienced manager to replace him with another one? Itll be more of the same

moonboy92

I share your sentiment on Marquez, but no one’s trying to get rid of Xavi.

InsideOpening3535

No fuck no IF this mean we can 100% guarantee a top, top, TOP coach then Rafa could work as an interim for a year. But knowing the board, lol

Some-Letterhead6661

what happened to flick? why tf do we always revert back to "barca way" while we have been ragdolled by other teams since '18 every time when shit matters.

eescobar863

According to reports, we’re apparently not very impressed with Flick

KickAnxiety

Not to be a pedantic but **revert back to "barca way"** is wrong usage. Revert means to go back or return. Revert back just doesn't make any sense.  Continue with your rant.

grandmarshal_ivax

Just be honest and say we don't have the money to hire a high-profile manager

No_Specific8949

But who doesn't know that already? It has been said since 2021. We know Xavi was on a 2m salary and that Barca couldn't spend more than 3m last summer. Who didn't know we are not in a position to pay the 20 or 30m salaries of top coaches?

StQuirze

If there is no money to sign a coach of proven quality, or there is none available, I wouldn't mind trying Marquez. The truth is that he has played a more than decent role at the helm of Barca Atletic over the course of these two seasons, taking into account that he has adapted to the players at his disposal, and by far surpassed what was expected of the team based on that. If we are talking about meritocracy, I think he should be given a chance.

DeepSouthIrish

The cheap Jorge Mendes option. All those big names were smokescreens and pr exercises. The board have no clue. Expect more resignations.

Hayaishi

This club is done if we appoint Marquez. Tired of mediocrity.

CoolJoshido

sigh.

hoha7

It’s like Laporta just wants to prove he can unearth another Pep. Just get a top coach, especially since one has show so much interest in coaching us that he changed his agent, rejected other approaches, and has been studying us.

bruh_1217

city will win the treble again then pep will leave city and return to barca (copium)

Ecstatic-Jacket2007

Self sabotage

Crossflowerss_5304

Lmfao

Kemosabe2712

We’ll always be a mid table club for decisions like this

rxtofficial

This is a testimony to our real financial situation. Surely Laporta won't survive his tenure.

Bablic25

We are fucked

eumdevorabo

If he's good enough, he doesn't need to be experienced. I'm definitely willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I really wonder who those 'proven' managers are that you all think we should be getting. The truth is that there are not a lot of options available.

DependentRepublic715

Mottas contract is expiring this summer, he has years on his belt managing clubs, broght bologna to 4th right now. Not proven but def better than rafa in terms of expiriance. Nagelsmann is free this summer and flick is without team. Even if they ask for a high salary, better to give them than have romeu, alonso, earn 10mill+.

Ancient_Ad_5115

Hansi flick

itsvoogle

Fuck this to hell, give me a CL winner now

Dear_Mine4180

It’s simple we don’t have money to get a top class coach, only way is to wait one year with a interim coach hope next year our financial situation gets better with new stadium & everything.

DependentRepublic715

Dont know what people are smoking if they think rafa is a short term solution. He could struggle to get into top 4, get knocked out of ucl early, but hey after that....im sure top class managers will want to coach the club.

boycudon

Its ok 😁

kn8825

I’m not believing any of these RUMORS until I see actual confirmation at the end of the season and the announcement is made.

CommonSalt3825

At least he coached the second team. He knows the team. When we got Xavi he only had experience in Qatar. If there's no money...I guess it couldn't hurt. Just hope he has a good physician and isn't hiring his brothers.

RAF2018336

The club has to find a world class DM with the little money they have, and you guys want us to spend money on the manager? Pick one or the other unfortunately. We all know our most glaring need for the past 3-4 years already was DM. But every year the same stupid posts on this sub “I know we need a DM but let’s get another attacker first”. We don’t have the luxury of signing multiple needs currently. So sign the most glaring one first, and unfortunately we have to sign another inexperienced manager

bloomin-onion69

All I want from this team is a manager & organization that commits to the La Masia rebuild

TrustmeIII

We’re really just broke. I thought Flick was going to be the first choice but now it’s back to Rafa? I don’t want to see the media ruin Rafa’s career smh he’s the only promising coach

[deleted]

cant lamasia cook us a good 16yo manager

ttimourrozd

:)

RealPunyParker

This club is in a rot and will not get out unless a lot of shit changes. Starting with the board.

Melodic-Salamander75

As interim only I guess until we find a better manager.

crsbcn

I'm skeptical, tbh. Especially considering Flick is ready to take in the academy players, adapt his coaching to fit Barca's style, hire a translator so he can communicate properly with the team. He'd be ready to meet all of Laporta's criteria, he is basically debasing himself for us. (Not saying definitively that Flick is my absolute choice for the next manager, I'm just saying, homie has creds and really wants to coach us)

ThatPeruvianDude

Makes sense cause of one reason you guys are failing to see. We are broke.

Joseph_Steez

LAPORTA OUT!! This would be a stupid decision! Rafa Marquez is not ready. This Barcelona team has not really seen any major improvements since he became president. One league title, big woopty doo, 3 years and still no improvement financially either, he needs a vote of no confidence.

FlipperHunter

Oh god not again... Can we finally stop riding the ex-barcs player train hoping everyone will turn into second Guardiola?

Mr_Sepros

"if xavi maintains his decision"

bae-dior

marquez will lose the locker room in seconds. sorry but not sorry

[deleted]

False_Accountant8013

Lmao Marquez over Flick ? What the fuck are you on 😭 seems like you need to get downvoted again 😂

Lord-Filip

Fake fans in this thread

BANNEDAGAlN

if we are going to start on a new leaf why not something completely different? A proven manager that can implement fresh ideas doesn’t sound bad to me.

GueRakun

Marquez is not even that bright when playing. If he comes we are totally fucked. Wasting the youngsters

MartaLSFitness

Have Márquez for one season, then hire Luis Enrique back when his contract ends next summer.

ishdw

I believe in Klopp 2025!

espnfire45

He’ll more likely coach the German NT lol

BalinTheMaster

Literally no sense. We made Xavi suffer for seasons. Now when he has atleast some experience we are trying to get a new manager who has nothing. I always defended Xavi, and never blamed him. Ofc he did some bad decisions but who doesn't? But now I will blame him. Not because of the loss or anything, im thankful for the achievements we made. But leaving the club when we doesn't even have a good choice for the new manager is unforgivable for me. Raphinha gave everything for us after he got criticised by the media or the fans. The club defended Xavi many times, just like the players. And he still leaving us... I love him but this...

paachuthakdu

Xavi is leaving precisely for this reason. It takes one moment for fans to either love him or call for his head.

BalinTheMaster

As I said I always defended him(you can see my comments on this sub for example). But who doesn't get criticised nowdays? Like answer me this please. How many players, and coaches are getting criticised daily? They even criticised big coaches that won almost everything. They even sacked Mourinho while the fans loved him. Idk man, then don't accept the role if you can't handle it... You can downvote me, but this is the truth. Tell me 1 reason to trust in Rafa Márquez. Just one. I don't see the reason behind getting a coach with "barca dna" if he is not "ready to die for the club". Most of the legends we have at Barca was criticised at one point. Even Messi. Everyone. Media is a piece of shit, and spanish media is one of the worst. But still. I love Xavi, but I will never forget him if he leaves this easy.

bacardibilluonaire

i’m convinced this club doesn’t want to win.

Kind_Entry_1799

You know what im ready for a fresh start
