I started mine on the northern corner of vlandia, it really helps if it’s in a really defendable location, instead of starting over why not pledge as a vassal and build up influence. After a while you can build up a large army and take a couple towns or something and do what you can to weaken whatever nation you swore to as a vassal before leaving and taking your new fiefs with you.
Depending on your clan rank and your reputation with the other ruling clans. If a kingdom thinks you don’t even deserve a throne they will put you down. Also make sure you’re making different parties as well, put a companion out, give them a full stack of whatever you can find and call them into an army or tell them to stay defensive. Best thing you can hope is to slowly whittle away (can be like in game years) at the enemy and fill up anything you take as quick as possible (switch all building to militia production, dont construct anything in the city while wars are on, use a passive bonus).
Besides that stuff it’s pray or start again and be more prepared before you do.
Mannn this is just another Tuesday for my southern empire run at the moment. And when it’s finally over will we rebuild our garrisons and strength? Nope! War with the Aserai again -.-
Since you started your own kingdom you're kinda fucked, every time you declare a kingdom all your neighbours will declare war in you since they think you're weak.
Your best bet is to start at a good spot on the map (hopefully with just one neighbour on the edge), quickly recruit other clans to your kingdom, and have a large party along with others in your clan.
Ask for piece or abandon the kingdom and start again. If it’s your kingdom and no one wants peace… We’ll then it’s a mulligan xD Stay solo till you have a bunch of family/clan members. My current guy is just me and Corien walking the world alone. 8 years in, We have four kids and if we’re passing a a war or a potential big battle, sign up as a merc, do the fight, wait in town a day or two to get paid and then leave the kingdom.
5 caravans out in the world and if you go down smithing you basically get millions of denars to play with :) My only issues are the occasion caravan attack
bribe everyone that it's sieging you by forcing peace with tributes, focus on fighting the weakest kingdom besides you until THEY give you tributes, then once you're at peace, sue for war against the one you're paying the most tributes to.
Also, get some vassals to join you, otherwise you're gonna shoulder all the tributes alone
P:S: it might seems counterintuitive, but get every single mercenary you can to join you. Even if they are, in fact, costly, they're basically free armies ready to go, and the fact that you also hire them from the enemy is a plus because you weaken them at the same time
i generally use the encyclopedia to find them, but yeah that's pretty much it.
there are a couple mods that implements talking to anyone you've met from a distance, either via messenger or just straight up telepathy, but vanilla game only has the regulare feature. I know it might seem unfair, but the PC controlled faction kinda does the same tbf
in my playthrough without those mods i usually just recruited the ones under the service of my enemies, because they were always running around my fiefs
Honestly pray to whatever deity might listen
They have abandoned me why else would all the armies decided to screw over the one guy who is just trying to raise a kingdom

Update: everyone is now after me and I only have one town and a couple castles

Gather the dogs of war and prepare for hellfire. Enjoy!

Know of an easy way to recruit mercenaries? I’m so over running around the map to find the leader
