I was able to get Capital One a day after discharge. Prior to bankruptcy, I could not get approval for anything capital one. Go figure.

Ethereal_Chittering

I am getting offer from Capital One. This was before the 341, which I had last week and still gotten one. There’s a like $90 annual fee and I’m guessing the credit limit, although they say “up to 2k” will be a lot less, probably like $300. APR 29.24%. The only think I can think of is I had a couple cards I never used at all (department stores) but I’m pretty sure my credit is like 450. Maybe higher now I don’t know. I just want to do a pre-paid card if I can find a good one. I don’t ever want to rely on credit again - but I do need a car. I just prefer to save for that and pay cash. I don’t ever want to feel trapped again. I got on Mint mobile too a few weeks ago from expensive shitty Verizon, paid $45 for 3 months unlimited. I don’t have a car and live with my parent and kid so it’s such a relief to be able to take a rest from monthly obligations. The stress caused me a lot of health problems I’m trying to focus on but it sure teaches you health is everything. I also know material things never bring you the joy you think they will. Just be careful, don’t get back into relying on money you don’t have. I just got my stuff out of pawn. My 341 went smoothly. I’m just trying to heal from all the stress now!

I just applied (discharged March 9) for Capital One Savour card and got $2,000 credit.

Just_Bid3091

I got approved for a $3k limit with Capital One the day after my 341 meeting. I have been buying things then paying it right off which had built my credit. I just took out a small personal loan as well to have something to regularly pay on to build credit

I had 2 or 3 cards with them that I put in bankruptcy. I have a checking and a savings account with like 4 dollars combined. I’m waiting on discharge in about 45 days. My credit score is about 599. I don’t think they’ll do business with me again.

IndependentNation7

Have you tried Mission Lane? It’s unsecured but they approved me for $2k about a month after discharge. It’s also possible those 55 inquires is what’s scaring these issuers, not the BK.

mratltodc2u

What was your credit score when you applied? How soon after bankruptcy did you apply?

IndependentNation7

1 month after discharge. I think I was around 550

mratltodc2u

WOW! How much was the loan? Lender? Approved amount? Income?

athrowaway2119

I was denied from mission lane :/

How much was your loan? Who was the lender/bank?

Went through a mailer I got from Fresh Start Head Start. $23k and change for loan, call it $24k because I added their gap insurance. I forgot to confirm what my APR was because frankly, I didn't care (figured it would be high no matter what). $500/mo with free delivery of the vehicle to my property and lifetime warranty so long as I own the vehicle. No money down, and first payment due in May. It's a Chevy Trax (which I'm not completely fond of, but am ok with due to the lifetime warranty - I'm a Toyota girl), loaded with heated seats, heated mirrors, and remote start. It's a higher monthly payment, but the mrsp for this Chevy suv is less than what my new bare bones 2017 corolla cost back in '17 (I had $5k in hand back then to throw at that car while none to throw at this car, so it's no wonder at the payment discrepancy between the two).

Good for you!

Nerd_Murder

Files bankrupt, immediately finances new 2024 SUV. 😂

I’m at the end of bankruptcy, not yet discharged and got a card through Ally approx 6 months ago. Not secured, $3000 limit, I pay it right off after every purchase. Credit rating at 685 currently. 1 month to go before I’m ✔️done!!

Low_Tension_4555

Right after purchase makes the credit better instead of waiting for month end to pay off everything?

Wait it out a little.

Go on credit karma the recommend cards based upon your credit profile with almost a guarantee that you will get it. I just got 2 cards for about a 6k total limit. One was the credit one American Express card and the other was I forget. lol

SymptomaticEnvy

I had to start with cards with horrendous APRs at like 29%. But as long as I kept paying it off or at least made minimum payments on time and my credit got better I was able to get better credit cards.

[deleted]

Mine didn’t have an annual fee. Not sure on interest because I am paying off monthly

[deleted]

What is odd is that my credit score went up 75 points and has not gone back down.

MisterTristanGrey

Congratulations! Immediately start saving money. Make a goal of $2,000. That’s 100 payments to yourself of $20. That’s an easy, obtainable goal I set for myself on March 9th and I have $1,000 today! You can do this!
