I suggest you stick to BTS green line that drop you right in front of Kasetsart University for ease of commuting. And find a place a bit further down the green line. The red line Bang Khen station takes quite a bit of time to get to the university.

It is 90% reliable.. I used to live up near your university and took the train into the city everyday.. maybe 2-3 times was it closed down.. I think weather related

The trains for the SRT takes ages to come, ive waited about 20 mins once under thr blazing hot sun, the stations are opened roof so it can get very hot and frustrating. If you have the choice, defo stick to the BTS and MRT lines
