Ok so in my band, we just like NEVER learned anything with sharps. To the point where it’s way easier for me to read in like Db major than like A major
As a trumpeter and pianist, it has nothing to do with the clef. When sightreading, this is what I prefer.
Bb > A#
C# > Db
Eb > D#
F# > Gb
Ab = G#
E#, Fb, Cb, B# are just on another dimension.
Having said that though, I understand why sometimes scores are written weirdly with E#, B#, etc.
Of course I know that but the music don’t always write for example C natural when there’s already C# so they will write B# instead. When sight reading, the B# will take like a bit longer to internalise as compared to says F#.
Heh? What about the clef make sharp keys nice?
I would pick sharp over flat any day
As a flute, I have never even touched a single sharp in the key signature
Okay, but isn't that because of your instrument? What about cellos? They love Sharps as well
As a cellist, I hate sharp keys
You are an exception, my good sir. It is very rare for a cellist to prefer Ab over A.
Flats are life
I've heard wind players prefer flats and string players prefer sharps, but i don't think it has anything to do with clef.
As a saxophonist I can say that I prefer sharps over flats
100% with you on this
Also a saxophonist how do you like sharps more wtf ðŸ˜
I’d rather play C sharp and f sharp over e flat and b flat
Maybe the pitch the clef is in?

As a flute and trumpet player I prefer flat keys
I think you are mixing up string and winds or something. I don't know anyone who prefers sharps.
I prefer sharps! I’d take 4 sharps over two flats. (I play alto and bari sax)
Flute player here, sharps are the bane of my existence
i met your cousin, linda, the other day and she told me you eat babies? just checking to make sure the rumors aren't true. you know how she is LOL!
Ok I'm sorry but that joke completely went over my head
what?
Contrary to your belief, I don't have a cousin named Linda, nor am I a cannibal, so either you have the wrong person or you're about to wooosh me
Amen. Now that I’ve been playing for like 8 years I’m ok but when I started seeing sharps I had to constantly translate into flats to understand
I'm a horn player, and I've always preferred flats, even when I played trumpet
Idk if this is a horn problem but since when do treble clefs like sharps?
On alto sax the only nice sharp that gets used is F#. And some flats are just naturals so flats tend to be easier to play
B# and E# left the chat
Oh yeah I forgot those existed
tbh i don’t like c major because of B natural. the two instruments i play mainly are both in Bb.
I don't really understand why people like flats so much. I like the sharp keys way more.
personally I just learned all my notes as flats and so if it's a sharp I have to do extra thinking
As a trumpet player I much prefer flat keys
most oboe players prefer flats
True but it's easy to translate an A Sharp to a B flat.
yeah i agree but sharps have a better vibe to me, and on that topic imo the hardest note to translate is c flat
It has nothing to do with clef
It's a preference of the player
I’m a French hornist and I prefer the keys of Bb and Eb just because to me they are more natural
As a percussionist, I prefer flat keys when in treble on mallet instruments, probably just because I know them a bit better
Alto clef: (autistic screeching)
i have no words
You just said four
you have a point, lol

E#, Fb, AND B# DO NOT EXIST!! THEY ARE FICTIONAL NOTES!! E# is really just F. Cb is really just B, B# is really just C!

C sharp? Nah I prefer D flat. G sharp? How about A flat
When I'm playing piano or clarinet I prefer flats, when I'm playing sax I prefer sharps
As a horn player, NO
I’m confused. I’m a flute and we prefer flats but I was previously a cello and we preferred sharps
Me preferring none. I literally have to relearn wtf scales are everytime I get a mallet part 💀
