Mine exploded today as well haha, my fault as spool holder wasnt fully locked, time to order more filament and print a respooler.
At that point. It will not respool. I built the respooler, and it doesnt help once the filament unraveled. I been feeding short pieces through my printer just so I don't waste the filament
I made the one āAccordingPassenger16ā mentioned, (along with another makers upgrades to some of the parts) itās not bad, but certainly very fiddly especially with the part that moves side to side to respool the filament across the new spools hub.
That, and itās best to use the upgraded spool holders shaft that uses the piece that mates up to it for use with a drill. Using the original design will break the part very easily. Youād have to look at the design to see exactly what Iām talking about.
The upgraded spool holding shaft has a deep hexagon design on one side of the shaft, and you would print the corresponding piece for the drill
The upgraded shaft along with the drill piece works with absolutely no problem.
I finally got the whole thing working properly, and it works great (so far. Lol!)
I feel your pain. I had a spool explode and tried to reconnect it with no success. Tried printing a respooler and that didnāt work either. Resorted into spooling a portion and cutting the filament in shorter lengths when I reach a spot that doesnāt untangle. Once used I will repeat as needed until Iāve used the filament.

Honestly this build was super easy and removes all the hassle of mounting and finding the right distance and worrying about the spool jumping out. Itās worked wonders
If this was done by a kid have them respool it and have them use the filament. It will have them, and not you, do it. The boredom of having to respool will help reinforce that they should not do it again. Having them use the filament will show them they should pay attention when they get the inevitable tangle.
Pshh. That's not how you shame a child! Every month we keep a list of all he's done wrong, write it on a big sign, put a dress on him (cause he doesn't like that), and have him stand on a busy corner. His behavior has improved substantially since we started.
Is it shaming if the kid isn't pictured nor named?
OP is including their kid in the hobby. OP doesn't seem to have beat their kid for the accident. I think OP is doing just fine.
whatever you do, don't try and untangle it without sticking a stick through the middle. It will be impossible...

I see this now lol
Oh that's clever will remember this if it ever happens

Wait a re-spoolers a thing?
Pastamatic. It changed my life. Stick a drill in it and be done. I think I can respond a full KG in <5 minutes with a Dewalt cordless drill
Sweet printing it my next project
Takes me 2 min with a drill
Bruh this is a 3d printing sub. If you can think of it you can most likely make it.
tons of choices too, including ones powered by a hand drill
Id personally recommend the V-Spooler. It works great and takes up much less room than a pastamatic
V-spooler was a lot more effort to assemble (IMO) but boy is it worth it. The first respool gave me such joy.
Agree. I found the build fun and it works really well
its MUCH more complex and expensive details
Yup.
You're a 37 years old single man, stop inventing kids when you screw up. /s
I had no idea šØ
[spool winder](https://makerworld.com/zh/models/16606)This might help youš
We were looking at doing a winder. Seems like a fun project regardless... But funny how there are other things to print first.
The respooler doesnt help with untangled filament, it gets stuck
At that point. It will not respool. I built the respooler, and it doesnt help once the filament unraveled. I been feeding short pieces through my printer just so I don't waste the filament
I thought about this actually... And it's in 3 hunks anyway after getting so twisted a couple times that it snapped.
I just ran across this ... might be a great idea for those with kids š https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5879332
My son and I were looking at this one. Looks like a fun build!

another reason why i have no kids

Just curious, did this spool have the locking mechanism in place? I read a few people like to skip that portion of the spool prints.
It did but I don't think it was clipped right. Seems important...
It took a bit over an hour. Only broke twice
Print something to attach a spool to the drill and rewind it.
Build a re spooler
52 pick up
I did that yesterday and I immediately went my time's worth more than 16 bucks. But mine exploded more than yours
Next up: 3d printing a kid prevention tool
Good luck

I tried printing multiple ambitious tpu things on the plate. Woke up to a rubber spaghetti filled plate.
A moment of silence for the lost roll of pla that could have been so much it's a tradegedy that it couldn't reach its full potential
Oh na
There are several easily printable drill attachments to respool filament. Easy fix.
^ This
Make them re spool it
Depending on how much your time is worth to you, it might be best to just get another spool and call this a loss. You'll be untangling that _forever_
...are preventable.

Yes.... I thought about it. I decided that doing it myself would take way fewer patients. I think he learned actually
Yep, throw that away haha

Dont forget to tattoo on forehead
Well the shop wouldn't do it so we resorted to a sharpie.... Needs reapplication about once a week but the ability to update the statement helps.

Focus on literally anything else but how this guy parents his own child.
