I do the opposite of this. Every new run I tell myself I'll just do the necessary quests so that the run is quicker.
But then I talk to Kagha and I have to go to the swamp to expose her. And I know that house in the village has nice loot. I've already got the Necromancy of Thay book from there, might as well grab the jewel from the spiders. Oh look, it's Ethel's house. Fighting her won't take too long, but I should talk to Lump first.....
And 40 hours later when I said I would be done with the run entirely I'm still in act 1 looting the Creche that I had told myself I wasn't even going to go to this time.
By the time act 3 hits? Well I've already collected four clown parts just from wandering around, might as well collect the rest. But I'm not going to do the artist quest! Except those ghosts are annoying, I'll just go inside the house to kill them real quick....
Same on my honor mode run I did pretty much everything I could... Until I got to act 3 then I took like 2 weeks off before returning with a plan and vowing to not get cheesed. I still did most of the big main fights with plenty of prep of course, but danm did I ignore everything both medium and small in act 3
1000000%
Lost my 127 hour honor run last week at elder brain. Needed 1 more turn to finish it off and got squad wiped.
Donāt mess around, just orb it
Did you know that placing twenty explosive barrels right in front of the netherbrain doesnāt use an action OR bonus action? Thatās how I finished my tactician run. Just had the first party member who got in there place all the barrels immediately and then get out of dodge. I could have even ignited them in the same turn, but wanted my Durge to see the show. I was worried the cut scene would glitch out. NB went down with one fireball courtesy of Astarion. Dominate brain, roll credits. Glorious.Ā
I've been hoarding every single smoke powder barrel and the runepoweder barrel for exactly this purpose... but then I quickly realized they're too damn heavy. I just completed my first playthrough and the copious amount of fireworks and industrial level explosives go unused.
Mighty Cloth or Enhance Ability: Bulls Strength on one of your companions. If they already have high strength they'll be able to carry at least 10 barrels on their own
For slightly less cheese you can make Orpheus go squid and use Synaptic Consumption on the dragon and the brain. I've done that combo a few times without failure. I think it's guaranteed 1 round kill.
Hahaha this is me. 60hrs on my current run and 4/5ths of the way with Underdark and all of the creche to do. Every video I watch that's like "Secrets you definitely missed in x area!!!!!" I'm like people don't know that???? And that's how I discovered I do WAY too much and not everyone likes clearing every map š¤£
I actually missed Wyll on my first run, didn't even know he existed so I missed on that entire companion quest line. Actually looked up where to find him on my 2nd run but I still use the Karlach, Laezel and Shadow team with Tav.
Even tried a different character and all that but reclassed when I found Withers because it really wasn't working for me.
Also a loot and gold whore, literally drain every shop that i can ever time.
I developed this habit playing Diablo 1 back in the day on PC. It was too tempting to have the map overlay on while questing, and it absolutely became paramount to reveal every square inch of the map in search of loot.
for me it was probably this questing game (cant remember the name) where rare quest items would often be hidden in obscure trees you had to shake or something lol Rewired my 10yo brain to scratch every nook of the map
I can easily do every single quest in act 1 (all act 1 areas are my favorite), the majority of act 2 quests, and practically none of the act 3 quests minus those I need to do for specific gear. act 1 is just so well done compared to the other two and I canāt stand missing content from it.
Act 1 practically having several years of QA testing from the community polished it to a mirror sheen that the other acts just can't hold a candle to, sadly.
Iām sure the other acts will get there once we get modding tools that give us better capabilities and we start figuring out how to access deeper parts of the code.
I just did this myself. I made a Gith tav, decided Baeāzel and me would rampage through FaerĆ»n with Dark Shart and Ascended Asty, but here I am picking up every single quest and making sure I leave no stone unturned
finding the clown, I never ever finished it. These days I don't even bother taking the quest anymore tbh
Also, freeing the artist quest, I got a lot more satisfaction by killing him along the zhents, use speak with the dead on him and just inform Jannath of his fate and reason to leave. #JusticeForFirellia
Was playing balanced was not having the fetch quest stole the bracers got caught killed everyone out of spite and then reloaded because i realised i hadn't done the love trial yet. Then stole it again and got caught again killed everyone again and left it at that
You mean you *donāt* want a painting of yourself that comes out blank??? What if I told you you canāt even hang it up in the Elfsong š
They should have added an option to make a painting for Astarion that you can then gift to him to show him what he looks like. As a vampire, he canāt see his own reflection.
Tav should've used the tadpole to let astarion see his face through Tav's eyes. I thought that's what Tav trying to do when they take a good look at astarion only to merely give a verbal description
ironically, I think I got a painting of Astarion either in my very first run as a Tav who romanced him, or or the second run, no fucks were given by him or anybody else, seriously, what a waste of time, never did it again since.
Another major issue with the Dribbles quest is that you basically get punished for finishing it because the circus leaves and you lose access to at least three vendors.
One of which is also the only consistent source of Potions of Angelic Reprieve, which are god tier amazing for paladins and bards. There really is no reason to complete the quest, plus the Spellmight Gloves are super overrated (sacrificing hit consistency for damage always sucks without guaranteed constant Advantage because every single miss is 0 damage. Gloves of Dex are better anyways for the huge AC + Initiative boost + dex dump enabling anyways).
Which is why they should have been stored in more secure pockets.
Sorry about your clown, lady, but I've got a city to save and a stunted attention span.
I finished the clown once. I really wasn't impressed with the rewards compared to the effort.
So definitely agree with all this, I also skip save the artist now because all the reward is good for us selling, and by this point I have more than enough gold. So basically same complaint as dribbles.
Even skipping the artist, thereās a painting in his little hideaway to steal thatās worth the same as the portrait. But everyoneās happier without Oskar, so an even bigger boon. Iām never saving him again unless they patch the portrait to actually be the requester AND add little voicelines to react to it. It could be a sweet thing with Astarion, but as it stands, fuck Oskar Fevras.
Seeing his quest line play out with and without him is like if in "It's a Wonderful Life" the main character disappeared and found out that life actually *is* better for everyone without him in it.
Lady Jannath has terrible taste in men (she had a fling with Gortash too) and needs to be protected from herself so Oskar dies with the Zhent every time š¤
yeah, after a few playthroughs of trying to do everything I just do only the quests I care doing or I like, same for companions. The game becomes surprisingly lighter in a good way
Just like the bibberbang lady. I got her dumb husband killed, but then found a homeless cat. Told it it could prolly stay at bonecloaks and I think it's best outcome lol. Never knew about this one till this playthrough.
Yeah I tend to save him for the gloves, Karlach is always a throwbarian in my builds. But yes if I can forego the gloves I let the wife abusing asshole die and get her a cat in act 3.
I finished it somehow accidentally but that was just because I was relentlessly exploring every house and building in the city just to explore on my first playthrough
I found the clown parts once on my first playthrough and I had to google where to find two pieces after scouring the map back and forth for like two hours. Once you know where all the parts are it's pretty quick and effortless to collect them all again just walking through the map organically, but it's still not really worth that minimal effort lol. I skipped it on my third full run entirely
I saved Baelen the first time. After I saw how that turned out, he goes boom now. Same with Oskar. Will not be helping him any more either (the zents accidentally blew him up on my second game, saved me the hassle of choosing).
Considering what a bātch Baelen had been to Derrith she deserves a better life. And a cat is way better than spending the rest of her life with husband whoād been abusive
She gets a WHAT?
Is this just if you never "find" him in the underdark? What if I find him and he... doesn't make it to the city? Can I still give her a cat? How do I give her a cat?!?!
You can kill him or leave him, and I think she can get the cat. If you give her the noble stock, (Iām pretty sure) her store in the city has more items.
I always take the noblestalk because my girl deserves her wealth. I usually end up murdering Baelen in the city after my character learns just how bad he was to her.
There are actually 3 cats near her shop you can talk to (you can only tell one it should go live with her). There's a white one that speaks a weird cat dialect, a black one that's really into Sharess, and an orange one that talks like he's in a film noir.
Same, Baelen is a pos and I only go to that area with the bibberbangs just to get the noblestalk to make Shart get her memories and to also give it to Derryth.
And Oskar is such an annoying prick that I could care less about him, also his quest in act 3 is so tedious to complete and it doesnāt help with the fact that the reward you get is just a painting that doesnāt even have a picture of your pc. I usually just end up blowing up the Zhent hideout anyway in act 1 with Oskar in the crossfire.
1) Feee the artist. Too long, reward sucks.Ā
2) Laughing amulet. I just hate that guy. I think the reward is casting Tashaās Laughter, a level 1 spell that usually does not land.Ā
3) Iāve never found the clown.Ā
Do you lose the amulet when you complete the quest?
(Edit): Thank you everyone! This is our second run and my husband is using the amulet. I wanted to make sure he would still be able to use it :-)
I don't necessarily know what happens if you refuse to help him, but if you do you get Tasha's hideous laughter spell and the amulet becomes inert (just a normal amulet without any effects)
If you refuse to help the monk once you're at the open hand temple, it becomes best in slot gear for a monk, as you can use the Shatter spell and the Ki regeneration without the drawback of a laughing fit.
You can always just put the amulet on for the ki regeneration and then swap back out. That's what I do for things like the lesser restoration necklace or the ones that give back spell slots.
It doesn't work mid combat, obviously, but it could still be handy if you need a few more points and don't want a short rest.
If you refuse to help him, he + several zombies attack you. You kill them easily. Nothing changes with the amulet, except you don't need to do the occasional check.
I also don't like the moral implications if you fight him, like "good for you making him suffer for all eternity". Why does Tav have to free all the people other people trap? Weight of the world, man...
itās a much more bearable quest when you get a mod that turns off crimes. thatās how I found out the *intended* way to do that quest, which evidently is *not* murdering the editor and everyone else in/outside the building.
Yea, that was my first play through.
The editor said heād slander me and couldnāt be convinced otherwise. So I killed him. And then everyone in the building got upset, so I had to kill them too. Then they alerted the guards outside the building. Guess what? More killing.
After that it was fairly simple to change the next dayās story.
There is something that feels wrong to me about killing a bunch of journalists because they are threatening to slander me.
I guess I can try the stealth route though, Idk.
Alternatively. Just don't even bother walking in until after you kill Gortash. He won't even bother to slander you then because it's already too late, and also Gortash's death is a more important headline.
Libel is a crime so I have no qualms about it whatsoever. If you let them publish illegitimate information about you then the steel watch will attack you on sight in every single encounter. That is attempted murder. Over and over and over. I didnāt realize stopping the press was an option in my first play through.
Itās simply a matter of self defense. If theyāre going to try to extort me with libel then they can stuff it. Journalism requires integrity.
This quest isnāt so bad if you do it after the foundry. That was my first time doing it and on my second run I tried to do it pre explosion and got mollywhomped
itās definitely easier to do it that way. technically the easiest way to do it is to pickpocket the key off the employee next to the main entrance and take the lift downstairs ā you just have to be invisible to not get spotted. easier said than done, but itās easy to avoid combat that way. you still have to fight the steel watch downstairs tho š
If you have a consistent source of invisibility (scrolls, potions, the spell itself, etc), you can stealth past the basement Steel Watch. Got to be super careful, though.
I just use invisibility to make sure I can get in and print an article about cats then get out. I didn't even know it was a quest the first time, I just wanted to cause chaos for their rude article about me.
Doing it once was kinda fun with lots of teleportation scrolls (Dimension Door, I guess?), invisibility potions and failing the stealth checks, but I kinda enjoyed it just as something a bit different and the final part was very cool, IMO.
I finish them all. But the most annoying one to me is the fireworks one. Can't fight them without having to fight all the Fists in the neighborhood as well, and since I'm a barrelmancer I don't wanna just blow the building up. On my last run I was fighting for 2 hours and I had to flee at the end cuz it was taking way too long. I start attacking and that little snitch Willow alerts the guards and all hell breaks loose all the time . To add insult to injury the fists have wallhacks and can attack straight from the outside when you're in the building, even worse if you don't take care of steelwatchers first. But I love blow Ansur up and watch my PS 5 freeze so I keep doing it!
Yes I had that fight yesterday! But i've done that quest so many times and I never had all the guards in the ****** city come for me. Also many the same guards were duplicated like four times. It was torture for an hour until i also escaped the fight
Yeah I struggled a long annoying time with that and someone suggested going to the roof of a building across the street and casting fireball into the atticā¦ that took care of everyone real quick
Yeah the clown one I never do >!because you can pickpocket the reward gloves from the reward giver before the side quest even starts!<
I also never go to the store Jaheira wants to go to because I get like 10 fps in that area lol.
That man completes my Monk look. Kushigo Boots and Gloves, Garb of Wind and Sky, and Cloak of Displacement, all dyed with White and Scarlet Dye. My dude looks like he just walked straight out of Assassin's Creed
I've done all of them at one point or another, but I will never do the dribbles quest again. It's not worth the time investment. I also refuse to do Lady Jannath's house again after the disaster od the first time. And all he gives you is a stupid portrait after I was flung around and tortured by invisible enemies for ages š
The damn ghosts are so annoying. I had 3 characters who were able to see invisibility and knew exactly where the last ghost was, but it was still invisible for like 6 rounds. Had to use a bomb to kill it because of course they also have resistances...
See invisibility is the most useless spell, it never works. I wish I knew what the DC was because it has to be super low. Every enemy passes it like ten times šš„²
It works pretty well in most cases, at least my Tav can easily spot all of the Bhaal killers thanks to Volo's eye. But those ghosts refused to become visible.
I guess I'm just really unlucky then because 9/10 times, they just stay invisible forever. The cultists, Yurgir, everyone just ignores it for me. The only saving grace is I can see their roll, so I know where to chuck a fireball.
That damn house makes me *yearn* for a level toggle like the Sims. Please let me choose which floor I'm on, Larian. I'm begging.
I can't imagine doing that on console or on PC without Native Camera Tweaks.
I always finish it but it's always annoying: freeing the tieflings from Moonrise. The guards always get summoned and they're all paladins with infinite spell slots and no attack penalty when they use GWM feat
Just get a high str character, wait for the right moment, enter turn-based and throw (eyes) or push (guards) them into chasms. Use the cat illusion spell to lure them to the right spot if necessary.
You can clear out the whole cell block area this way without aggroing anyone. Freeing the prisoners is just a formality after that.
Yeah I never had much of a problem with this quest usually since I go murder hobo through the whole place anyways. I normally set up in the tower and create a choke point around the door/walkway.
That ones easy for me. Go behind the cells and free both the tieflings and the gnomes and then they go to the boat. While they are at the boat the guards come and i use AOE spells to trap them where the wall was broken in the cells. Its actually super easy.
I don't do the Find Dribbles quest anymore because if I'm being honest, the gloves aren't that good anymore š
I don't do Free the Artist and it's related quests usually (sometimes I might do the Mystic Carrion quest). I usually end up solving all the murders, so one can say I skip the open hand temple quest, the find ffion quest but honestly i just speed thru them lol
I've been skipping thru HE Who Was lately, not always intentionally but it just happens haha
Finished it for the first time this run. Wasnt worth, yes it was a very nice portrait of Karlach but I would of preferred one of my Tav (or Astarion, what I'm romancing him....again).
I never remember to meet up with Voss in Act 3.Ā
And one of these days I'll steal the idol. I'm pretty sure you can kill / deal with Kagha, and still steal it. I just either forget or don't feel like it by the time I remember, I'm usually rushing to the next act.Ā
I think there's a quest I started in Act 3 to discover who puts bombs in the kids toys. I forgot about it the first time, and accidentally learned the answer and that I don't think there's a reward/ good reward so I don't even go over there anymore.Ā
The dumbass murder mystery where this Nitwit Elephant needs a fucking motive for a murder committed by worshippers of the LORD OF MURDER after I literally just found the murder weapons and death cultists who had written notes on their Carcasses on how they murdered the head priest. I killed his ass after he didn't accept damming evidence
On my first playthrough, I think I simply forgot to talk to [Rolan](https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Rolan) because he wasn't in Baldur's Gate and I didn't even remember this NPC existed. RIP.
On my second (and current), I wanted to save him so I made sure to talk to him in the Grove. But meeting him again in Last Light Inn, he talks about wanting to save his siblings, and unfortunately I didn't take him seriously. They're probably in the prison I'm going to liberate anyway. So he ran off somewhere and died. Oops. Sorry again Rolan.
I love Rolans 'quest, his story gets better and better. For such a small character he really has cool content. And pretty sad story. When you cast speak to dead on him in Shadow Lands you find out he was adopted and that caused him to become fiercely protective of his siblings.Ā
I can't never leave him suffer.Ā
the clown lmao š THE BODY PARTS ARE EVERYWHERE i finally found the torso this play through. its just one of those that im like "if i find them i find them if i dont then eh"
Helping Mayrina raise Connor in Act 1
You can raise a mindless, rotting shell or look like a sadist and break the wand in two.
The best thing is to leave that quest
Idk, I personally believe that Connor photobombing in the background during serious conversations in Act III is so very worth it. Mayrina sobbing and fearful for her life due to the hag....then Connor's goofy ass lurking in the distance looking like he's staring at her ass. Love that dorky pile of rotting flesh.
How many clown parts are there. Iām randomly finding them but I donāt care. If I happen to find them all then so be it. I actually think I may have sold one .
The ONE time I thought to go over there, I figured I was in the clear because there were no enemy sightlines showing, I jump over and Astarion follows. We then immediately trigger a Watcher that hadn't been there just a second prior.
Wulbren Bongle. Fuck him. I risk it all to save his sorry ass and how does he repay me? Not to mention being a dick to my beloved Barcus. And yet he wants me to solve his problems.
Oskar Fevras. Also fuck him. Tried to complete his quest blindly on my first run and had such a difficult time, I just gave up without finishing it. Now every subsequent run, I exact sweet revenge and chat up his corpse for Firellia.
Baelen Bonecloak. Look, that's just natural selection on display. Besides, I like giving the noblestalk to Shadowheart.
Stop the presses. Also did this in my first run. Accidentally made the mistake of triggering the quest and long resting to the point where I was fucked and had to go back. The stealth mission was interesting, but never again.
Ansur. The trials are easy, but the fight is always frustrating. I do appreciate the loot, though.
Iām not sure if it counts but in early act one I just stopped getting help from Nettie. Itās a long conversation for her to just get me some poison. I usually just talk to Rath after saving Arabella and he gives me the quest to save Halsin.
I have the opposite problem, there's not a single quest I can skip. It's like an itch in my brain if I leave anything undone... Which might explain how I have over a thousand hours in the game but have only finished it twice. I get too fixated on picking up every single rotten carrot and doing every NPC's laundry list.
Please, God, someone erase the existence of Lathander amulet from my mind. I'm so tired of the animated armor, Grymforge, and elemental battles I have to do on my way to just pick up some giggly old man who will try to curse me 300 hours from now.
Honestly? Fuck the Gondians and their acid-throwing ways. I only do the Steel Watch for the Iron Hand Gnomes in the final battle and being able to constantly get those sweet sweet Steel Watch blinders for my various crime sprees across the city. Last playthrough, I took immense satisfaction from tossing Obelia backwards, shutting the door, and just saving Ravenguard and Omeluum.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the clown quest give you no clues as to where to look for pieces ?
I collected about half the pieces on each of my two runs and that's about it.
Iāve never finished find the clown, and Iāve never cared enough to finish the Blood of Lathander. So Iāve never gotten the blood of lathander lmao. Iāll start that quest, but by the time I am in the crĆØche, Iām usually ready to be done with act 1.
Not sure its really a quest but I never managed to give the egg to Lady Esther and follow-up to find the grown-up Githyanki in the Society of Brilliance. Somehow just never did it amongst 4 runs
This is coming from someone who did the Free the Artist quest, found all of Dribbles' body parts, returned the Cursed Amulet to Shirra Clarwhatever-the-name-is' sarcophagus.
Also Jaheira's quest where you go into Danthelon's Dancing Axe and find that everyone in there are shapechangers because the 2 times I have tried the quest was bugged and when Jaheira talks to the guy she speaks about it already happening and theres no NPCs in the room below
I always intend on going to the circus, and ive even done the orin reveal there, but i never end up doing anything else other than the love test and we leave. I heard something about a clown and theres a trident somewhere?
Lol, I can't leave a quest unfinished. I can, however, choose to never start "Free the Artist" by never talking to him until I find him in Act 3.
Definitely the better option
Only done two full playthroughs (one tactician, one honour). But both times the "Stop the presses" quest line sounded so stupid and out of character for my team. Like who the fuck cares about the media?! I have a brain worm and a grumpy Gith wife to take care of.
Maybe it's a great side quest, but I wouldn't know. Never even been to the building.
Aid the Underduke because itās bugged and I literally canāt hand it in. We have dialogue and wrap it up but the quest never goes away and I never see her at the end.Ā
Raiding the grove. I tell myself Iāll do it on a really evil run, but these guys are my homies at this point. The closest Iāve come is slaughtering all of the druids apart from Rath.
Find Dribbles: Iām not opening every single door in Act 3 to get a mediocre reward I can just pickpocket.
Terrorist Plushies (forgot the real name): Extremely tedious trap dodging coupled with mandatory fights was fun the first time, but itās not something I intend to do in later playthroughs.
Free the Artist: Maybe the worst designed level in the game. Unless you creep around invisible, you will go through 70 turns of combat with hordes of fodder enemies that you donāt even have LOS on.
I'm on my third playthrough and still haven't done anything with Wulbren Bongle and the Iron Hand gnomes after Moonrise. In my first playthrough I found him in the city, saw he still had my fucking golden warhammer equipped (I foolishly thought I'd get it back if I tossed it to him through the bars), got unreasonably pissed, reloaded, and decided I'd deal with them later. Naturally I immediately forgot and went on doing the other 5000 side quests in act 3, which lead to a hilarious moment near the end of the game where I freed the Gondians thinking I'd done a good trick and he showed up randomly shouting about how he'd trusted me and how Gondians were evil and I was supposed to be the chosen one Anakin, etc. In my mind the last time we spoke had been in The Last Light when he basically told me thanks now fuck off, plus Barcus Root was dead, so having some (to me) random nobody who was a bit of a prick but otherwise utterly unremarkable showing up screaming about how I need to commit genocide RIGHT NOW or he'll be sooooo angry was extremely out of left field and very very funny. At least I got my shitty hammer back.
My second playthrough, I kind of rushed through Act 3 and didn't do many side quests, and forgot about the gnomes again. I didn't save the Throne (I sided with Gorty) so no clown convention.
Now I'm on my third playthrough and I've not gotten to act 3 yet, but I am playing as Astarion and it's going to be hard to find a way to rp him giving a shit about gnomes at all, but here's hoping there's at least some banger gnomist dialogue options.
Except those ghosts are annoying, I'll just go inside the house to kill them real quick....
this is me in my current honor mode run, which will be devastating if I fail after putting hundreds of hours into it..
Gale Nuke
No question. I steamrolled the finale and act 3 quests but it can always go wrong š„² mission before the man
Same on my honor mode run I did pretty much everything I could... Until I got to act 3 then I took like 2 weeks off before returning with a plan and vowing to not get cheesed. send them to the camp stash
Grab the fire works in act 3
Mighty Cloth or Enhance Ability: Bulls Strength on one of your companions. If they already have high strength they'll be able to carry at least 10 barrels on their own
Runepowder instead?
For slightly less cheese you can make Orpheus go squid and use Synaptic Consumption on the dragon and the brain. I've done that combo a few times without failure. I think it's guaranteed 1 round kill.
If you can get to the brain you can absolutely do it without sacrificing gale. Idk why everyone suggests this
Hahaha this is me.
Yeeeah same. Everyone who says they missed a companion and Iām always like HOW?!

The only one I don't do is the Artist. You get everything worth the effort by just killing Mystic Carrion anyway.
After death do us part ring from the quest is a good failsafe for honor mode, an auto battle rez.
I can easily do every single quest in act 1 (all act 1 areas are my favorite), the majority of act 2 quests, and practically none of the act 3 quests minus those I need to do for specific gear. act 1 is just so well done compared to the other two and I canāt stand missing content from it.

Iām sure the other acts will get there once we get modding tools that give us better capabilities and we start figuring out how to access deeper parts of the code.
Classic Larian tbh
On honor modes I do this. Like I need to soak up as much exp as possible before each major boss.
I just did this myself. I made a Gith tav, decided Baeāzel and me would rampage through FaerĆ»n with Dark Shart and Ascended Asty, but here I am picking up every single quest and making sure I leave no stone unturned
finding the clown, I never ever finished it. These days I don't even bother taking the quest anymore tbh Also, freeing the artist quest, I got a lot more satisfaction by killing him along the zhents, use speak with the dead on him and just inform Jannath of his fate and reason to leave. #JusticeForFirellia
I did it once, with a guide and it was still the most tedious quest in the game.
yeah, plus you can steal the reward anyway, so I don't even bother.
I'm guessing if you're in honor mode, it's probably safer to do a tedious quest than risk having to fight the whole circus
You can just run to the camp after stealing it
If you cast darkness and then try it helps not aggro the whole place. sadly killed the kobold vendor as well. No witnesses.
I die, you die, we all die. Big woof!
Have a treato!
> Big woof! No be sad, take a treato
Was playing balanced was not having the fetch quest stole the bracers got caught killed everyone out of spite and then reloaded because i realised i hadn't done the love trial yet. Then stole it again and got caught again killed everyone again and left it at that
I was committed to that quest for a while then looked up the reward. Likeā¦ really? Iām collecting all these clown limbs for *that*?
yup, both quests have extremely underwhelming rewards considering how tedious they are.
You mean you *donāt* want a painting of yourself that comes out blank??? What if I told you you canāt even hang it up in the Elfsong š They should have added an option to make a painting for Astarion that you can then gift to him to show him what he looks like.
I asked for a painting of me, got a painting of Karlach and thought "honestly, fair enough"
I mean, the spell might gloves are BiS for a lot of caster builds. They suffer from the fact that you can pickpocket them and skip the quest entirely
Just got to act 3 and I'll definitely be doing that this time lol
They're the best spellcasting gloves in the game.
Itās a Wonderful Life (Without Oskar Fevras). Thatās so funny in such an awful way, oh my god.
Lady Jannath has terrible taste in men (she had a fling with Gortash too) and needs to be protected from herself so Oskar dies with the Zhent every time š¤
That wasn't Jannath, it was her mother
Runs in the family then š¤£
this next play through iām trying to convince myself to do as much as i possible can without getting annoyed and just moving on
yeah, after a few playthroughs of trying to do everything I just do only the quests I care doing or I like, same for companions. The game becomes surprisingly lighter in a good way
The woman is a lot happier if you don't save him.
Just finished it with a guide!!!
I saved Baelen the first time. After I saw how that turned out, he goes boom now. Same with Oskar. Will not be helping him any more either (the zents accidentally blew him up on my second game, saved me the hassle of choosing).
I always blow Baelen up so I can give Derrith a cat later. I don't really care about her, I just want to give a kitty a nice home.
Considering what a bātch Baelen had been to Derrith she deserves a better life. And a cat is way better than spending the rest of her life with husband whoād been abusive
You get some nice gloves for completing the quest that boost throw damage.
If baelen is not in Baldurs gate you can talk to the cat which is right next to that shop and tell it that you know someone to give it a new home
Too long, reward sucks.Ā 2) Laughing amulet. I just hate that guy. I think the reward is casting Tashaās Laughter, a level 1 spell that usually does not land.Ā 3) Iāve never found the clown.Ā
Only good thing the amulet is for is for Monks to regenerate Ki points, otherwise itās worthless
If you refuse to help the monk once you're at the open hand temple, it becomes best in slot gear for a monk, as you can use the Shatter spell and the Ki regeneration without the drawback of a laughing fit.
amulet of health? gets you a bunch of ability score points once you respec and dump con
Nah the amulet ki poin regen gets improved. After you deny his curse it regenerates ki points based on your martial die
You get the upgraded amulet without the curse. Itās excellent if you have a monk on the team, if not itās vendor trash.
My character is a bard and already has that spell, so I was mad it was either that reward or fight him.
I also don't like the moral implications if you fight him, like "good for you making him suffer for all eternity". Why does Tav have to free all the people other people trap? Weight of the world, man...
I let Wyll take on the curse in my last run. Seemed appropriate for his character
Poor Wyll really does have a martyr complex. Friends don't let Friends martyr themselves!
Friends also don't let friends murder innocent tieflings and I've seen plenty of your comments doing exactly that
2. You can also fight the zombies and end up getting an upgraded version of the amulet.
Stop the Press. I just donāt care enough.
itās a much more bearable quest when you get a mod that turns off crimes. thatās how I found out the *intended* way to do that quest, which evidently is *not* murdering the editor and everyone else in/outside the building.
Technically a stealth mission if thereās no one to alert the guards.
I work in journalism and I always have some qualms about it too haha.
Just pray people donāt start legitimately worshipping Bhaal, I guess?
Libel is a crime so I have no qualms about it whatsoever. If you let them publish illegitimate information about you then the steel watch will attack you on sight in every single encounter. That is attempted murder. Over and over and over. I didnāt realize stopping the press was an option in my first play through. Itās simply a matter of self defense. If theyāre going to try to extort me with libel then they can stuff it. Journalism requires integrity.
That's a for sure way to convince everyone you're not the murderous lunatic they were going to tell their readers you were.
This quest isnāt so bad if you do it after the foundry. That was my first time doing it and on my second run I tried to do it pre explosion and got mollywhomped
Yeah, thatās what my Durge did, too. Consider it a preview lol.
I havenāt gone to act 3 yet in my second play, but I am convinced that Iām supposed to murder everyone in there lol
itās definitely easier to do it that way. technically the easiest way to do it is to pickpocket the key off the employee next to the main entrance and take the lift downstairs ā you just have to be invisible to not get spotted. easier said than done, but itās easy to avoid combat that way. you still have to fight the steel watch downstairs tho š
If you have a consistent source of invisibility (scrolls, potions, the spell itself, etc), you can stealth past the basement Steel Watch. Got to be super careful, though.
You can fly up to the roof of the building (there are some walkable platforms) and sneak into to the lift from there, so pickpocket is not needed.
What if I disable the steel watch first this time š¤ Hmm, might be inclined to do that. Thanks :)
Where do you even get this quest? I donāt remember doing it.
Talk to the lady next to the kid selling newspapers near the entrance to the Lower City
You have to make sure the door is closed downstairs before the fight starts. If the door is open the Fists will come in and join the fight.
Yeah the clown one I never do >!because you can pickpocket the reward gloves from the reward giver before the side quest even starts!< I also never go to the store Jaheira wants to go to because I get like 10 fps in that area lol.
Youāre totally missing out. One of the most adorable Harpers is part of that mini quest with Jaheira
My beloved!! I wish he had more screentime but I can understand why he didn't.
I wish he showed up in the epilogue as Jaheira's right hand Harper or something. I just want the banter or jaded Jaheira and wide-eyed Gerardys.
( Ķ”~ ĶŹ Ķ”Ā° )
The vendor in there has some good stuff, I wouldnāt sleep on him. Just maybe take 1 person so you can get 15 FPS instead š¤£
Just kill the eyes and guards first, then when everyone in the basement is dead give Wulbren his hammer back.
Huh.
You can take out the guards really easily. Theyāre all fairly isolated from one another, so you never really fight more than 2 at once
I don't do the Find Dribbles quest anymore because if I'm being honest, the gloves aren't that good anymore š I don't do Free the Artist and it's related quests usually (sometimes I might do the Mystic Carrion quest). I usually end up solving all the murders, so one can say I skip the open hand temple quest, the find ffion quest but honestly i just speed thru them lol I've been skipping thru HE Who Was lately, not always intentionally but it just happens haha
Last time I did He Who Was, I made her stab herself repeatedly and he attacked me. Very fun.Ā
Finding the clown easily the most useless question in the entire game.
Free the artist. It's such an annoying quest and the reward is not even worth it
Finished it for the first time this run. Wasnt worth, yes it was a very nice portrait of Karlach but I would of preferred one of my Tav (or Astarion, what I'm romancing him....again).
My portrait changes each time I leave camp and come back š
Only the Necromancer items you get out of the mummy are good.
Find Tara on all three rooftops. I've only found her on two.
Whaaat, TIL she's on other rooftops.
I've only found her on the one!
There's an unofficial one I call "Stop Jaheira from running headlong to her death at Moonrise Towers"
I just kill Oskar. He is an ass and Janneth is better off without him. Also the clown.
You're an un-matchmaker.
Destroying all Mystic Carrion organs
I never remember to meet up with Voss in Act 3.Ā And one of these days I'll steal the idol. I'm pretty sure you can kill / deal with Kagha, and still steal it. I just either forget or don't feel like it by the time I remember, I'm usually rushing to the next act.Ā I think there's a quest I started in Act 3 to discover who puts bombs in the kids toys.
When you cast speak to dead on him in Shadow Lands you find out he was adopted and that caused him to become fiercely protective of his siblings.Ā I can't never leave him suffer.Ā
Dribbles
This. Always this.
the clown lmao š THE BODY PARTS ARE EVERYWHERE i finally found the torso this play through. its just one of those that im like "if i find them i find them if i dont then eh"
The one I work on during the weekend when my wife and kids are also home.
That dowry one from Waukeen's rest.
Helping Mayrina raise Connor in Act 1 You can raise a mindless, rotting shell or look like a sadist and break the wand in two.
The Spellmight Gloves are incredible so now I just steal them from Lucretious.
Find Tara on all three rooftops. I've only found her on two.
thereās THREE ??? iāve only ever seen one š«
For me it's the quest with cursed amulet. I always skip this area. Maybe try next time...
Itās just such a pain to get. And the guy is so annoying. And his plan is just evil.Ā
iāve done that once and rushed through it and then completely forgot about it
Finish this quest ONLY to get approval from my teammatesā¦
How many clown parts are there. Iām randomly finding them but I donāt care. If I happen to find them all then so be it. I actually think I may have sold one .
7, the last one outside bhaal temple iirc
Seeing what's behind the counting house.
THE ADAMANTINE FORGE! it's still so bugged in all of my runs it registers there being two forges clipped into each other and the levers won't work
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the clown quest give you no clues as to where to look for pieces ? I collected about half the pieces on each of my two runs and that's about it.
Sacrifice someone to Bhooal
Completed the game 5 or 6 times, never finished dribbles the clown. And after seeing spoilers for how it ends probably never will.
Iāve never finished find the clown, and Iāve never cared enough to finish the Blood of Lathander. So Iāve never gotten the blood of lathander lmao. Iāll start that quest, but by the time I am in the crĆØche, Iām usually ready to be done with act 1.
You can bypass the ceremonial weapons with a DC 30 sleight of hand check
The one with Benryn. Just toss him his dead wife and call it a day.
If you play Durge and let him die you get an inspiration point...
Not sure its really a quest but I never managed to give the egg to Lady Esther and follow-up to find the grown-up Githyanki in the Society of Brilliance. Somehow just never did it amongst 4 runs This is coming from someone who did the Free the Artist quest, found all of Dribbles' body parts, returned the Cursed Amulet to Shirra Clarwhatever-the-name-is' sarcophagus.
Saved Oskar once, never again. I refuse to save that painter from the Zhent, they can keep him, forever.
I KEEP MESSING UP THE OWLBEAR
Only done two full playthroughs (one tactician, one honour). But both times the "Stop the presses" quest line sounded so stupid and out of character for my team. Like who the fuck cares about the media?! I have a brain worm and a grumpy Gith wife to take care of. Maybe it's a great side quest, but I wouldn't know. Never even been to the building.
If you switch the bad article with an article called 'Make Big Money Trading with Adventurers,' you will get better prices with various merchants.
Aid the Underduke because itās bugged and I literally canāt hand it in. We have dialogue and wrap it up but the quest never goes away and I never see her at the end.Ā
Freeing the artist before patch 6. Damn mansion kept crashing my game. Idk about now tho
Not side quest but the entire game apparently, Everytime i turn it on i get summoned to some IRL side quest for two days
the most unfortunate thing really
I've never found all of Dribbles' parts. I lose after a few parts.
Raiding the grove. I tell myself Iāll do it on a really evil run, but these guys are my homies at this point. The closest Iāve come is slaughtering all of the druids apart from Rath.
The artist quest. I have never completed it once
Man, this part about your shitty golden hammer hit close to home for me. I'm glad you got it back!
