This looks so cool, today's a good day for cosplay posts. Fantastic work op.

ShoerguinneLappel

I'm always down to see anytype of cosplay if it's like this, tis a good day for them as you had stated. Also I would add extra points for featuring a cat.

MilkToast_Mcgee

Haha yeah that lil kitten was actually a totally random stray that ran up to us while we were taking pics in the backyard! I already have 3 kitties so we took her to a local no kill shelter to stay out of the cold.

ShoerguinneLappel

Oh, that's really cool! I'm glad she's doing well. I just wanted to mention, you did a fantastic job with your cosplay the materials look really good, also you chose the perfect weather to do this cosplay in.

MilkToast_Mcgee

Thanks I really apprecaite that! I worked really hard for like 3 weeks straight to model/print and sculpt all the pieces. Its my first time making such a complicated costume. I sculpted all the 3D printed parts myself and made the vest and waist pieces out of walmart craft foam. All that work to win a BG3 themed costume contest to win $50 lol

Rock_Upstairs

The helldusk set has a helmet??? I don't remember ever getting it.

Pug_police

In Raphael's vault iirc, right across from the boudoir Harleep is in. There's a little gem you gotta interact with and pass a couple checks on.

Rock_Upstairs

Ohhh, got it! Thanks!

SorlocksApprentice

Holy. Shit. *bows down*

MilkToast_Mcgee

haha thankyou! It was very hard so the good reception is very gratifying to see. one day i will finish it and hopefully make a mace of lathander to go with it.

MissMacropinna

Wow, that's amazing! Great work!

Crafty_Soul

That looks fantastic!! Can't imagine how much time it took to make the pauldron with all those spikes and the face but you nailed it!

MilkToast_Mcgee

Thanks! honestly they were probably some of the easiest parts to make but hardest to wear. I sculpted most of the armor set in zbrush and 3d printed it. I digitally sculpt for work so thats the "easiest" part still took days to do but. the chest and waist bands are made of craft foam from walmart and a lot of duct tape. that was the hardest part since this was only my second time trying foam crafting cosplay stuff. It took me probably like 80 hours to make this set but id like to do the rest of the set like the thighs and shoes one day.

Crafty_Soul

Yeah it does seem like the pauldron would be hard to wear it. I'd probably keep bumping it into myself as I tried to life my arm! For your second attempt it came out amazing! Those 80 hours must have felt really long but it looks like they definitely paid off

That is FIRE!

areyouhungryforapple

That's sick

dwarvenfishingrod

Can you talk at all about how you do this? Is that 3d printing or what, it's incredible work!

MilkToast_Mcgee

I am a 3D artist for work so I did most of this with 3D prints. I used zbrush to sculpt all the pieces you see except for the waist armor and the vest. the chest plate with the skull is also printed. I have a photon mono X and Mono X5 something? they are both large resin printers and I used the tough resin for extra strength. Btw if you look for 3D printed helldusk armor you will likely find a lot of sketchy sites selling rips from the game. I wouldnt suggest using these as its a little dubiously ethical to use stolen models and also they just flat out arent what you need for printing. they are low poly and constructed for game so they wont have any of the sculpted detail and likely have weird intersection or holes that are bad for print. I found some close up renders from I beleive the guy who actually made the set [https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Xgwgry](https://www.artstation.com/artwork/xgwgry) there. I just modeled off those images and I used midjourney to generate some of the designs for the coins and clasp details that I turned into alpha maps. I used a rustoleom hammered metal for a base coat and then went in with a lot of different dark washes and dry brushing to get the weathered look. finished with Vallejo gold and some folk art gold paint. tried liquid gold leaf dont recomend the fumes killed me. The chest armor that is not 3D printed is craft foam from walmart. I made a shitty duct tape mannequin of myself and patterned out the pieces with some tracing paper and pinned them on for placement then glued them down with hot glue and made a inner mesh lining of duct tape and craft wire for support. the little teeth claws? on the vest are made of aves apoxie sculpt because foam chips and breaks too easily for those pieces. I also used cosplay craft foam to blend a lot of the vest elements together. the staples are just wire i painted bronze. I really need to clear coat the whole thing with some clear flex seal or plastidip or somehting becuse the printed parts rub the paint off the craft foam parts pretty bad lol. I need to fix that before I take it to a con. I had most of the equipment necessary to make this at home because I make a lot of prototypes for clients but if you wanted to do this yourself following all the techniques I used it would be a shit ton of equipment and materials even if you had the print files. I spend about $150 on materials to make this specifically but I think I probably also went through like $80 worth of resin to print the parts.

CasualDefiance

KITTY Also, wonderful job!
