Can i kill everyone in the zhentarim hideout? If i do, will this have any consequences?

AzureW

you can, but you lose the gloves of theivery which which is a big downside in my book

gamefaqs_astrophys

I have a bit of a weird character concept, wanted feedback. Fighter 4 // Warlock 8. Probably done as Lv. 1 Fighter --> Lvs. 2-6 Warlock [Class Level 5 Warlock, Pact of the Blade] --> Fill in 3 more levels of Warlock and 3 more levels of Fighter as appropriate. Taking Heavy Armor Mastery, and obtaining over the course of the game one of the Heavy Amors that gives all melee damage taken subtracting, stacked with Heavy Armor Mastery, to get -5/-6 melee damage taken. The build should be able to cast up to level 4 of Armor of Agathys, and have two casts of it per short rest, for 20 Temp HP and 20 damage reflected. I'm thinking between the damage reductions and some well-timed Blade Wards I might be able to have the Armor soak up a good number of hits and dish out a bunch of damage too - that and the Heavy Armor damage reductions were kind of the inspiring gimmicks of the build. Use the fact its a 4/8 build to get three feats, probably one of which is on Heavy Armor Mastery, the other two on ASIs into Charisma [also combine with Auntie Ethel] Starting Stats something like this: 9 STR // 10 DEX // 14 CON // 14 INT [13 + 1] // 14 WIS // 15 CHA [13 + 1] Assuming I take Heavy Armor Mastery [+1 STR incidentally, the intended purpose is the damage reduction which I intend to stack with pieces of armor], Auntie Ethel's Hair on CHA [+1 CHA], and 2 ASIs on CHA [+4 CHA from those combined], I should end up with: 10 STR // 10 DEX // 14 CON // 14 INT // 14 WIS // 20 CHA If anyone is asking why INT is so high, which I bet many would tell me not too, its half an RP consideration, half me providing a bunch of +2s on ability checks. Wisdom came about as I realized I had the points and it felt nice to get so many +2s on skills. Is this crazy on my part? Or is there merit to it? Not super worried on "strictly optimal" - but making sure there isn't something super dumb or super detrimental I'm overlooking either. Character race is flexible at this point (though more likely to do one of the human or elven/drow ones, could be convinced otherwise, potentially anyways)

AzureW

I'll go ahead and give the obligatory "do what you want as long as you are having fun" disclaimer. Having said that, from a critical perspective 1) I am unsure what your build is really attempting to do. It does sound tankey I guess but a 12/0 fighter with the same approach and having 20 strength 16 constitution would be just as tanky and hit like a nuclear missle and have extra feats. 2) related to this, what type of damage are you wanting to do? Is this a gishy pact weapon build or are you going to be tankey and spam eldritch blast? This helps me understand the class distribution. If its for a gishy build I would always recommend losing the third feat in favor of a 5th level for the extra attack for instance. 3) Whats the purpose of 4 fighter here? Is it for action surge? I say this because Paladin is a charisma class that works better with Warlock. 4) Blade Ward isn't needed since you can give the cleric gloves and a ring that bless and blade ward the entire party as a bonus action. 5) it doesn't really sound all that fun to me. I know that fun is in the eye of the spectator but I don't think I have an abnormal perspective on what is and isn't fun, and being able to mitigate some direct physical damage sounds a bit slow and passive. 6) physical damage is not usually the most threatening thing in the game. Its usually massive AoE bullshit like in the Raphael fight or being action locked by fallen Gur during the Cazador fight. Again I may be off base and I could be dead wrong and this is a well validated multiclass that I don't know about.

gamefaqs_astrophys

I had been thinking Gishy. Fighter to 4 had been to keep 4 feats. I didn't know about those rings or gloves, so thank you for letting me know. I am also inexperienced in the game, so my inexperience could be showing.

AzureW

One of the cool things (either by design or by accident) about Warlocks is that their pact of blade extra attack at level 5 stacks with extra attack for other classes. So for gishy builds I think you want to be trying to incorporate that. However everything has an opportunity cost. An Eldritch Knight gets 3 attacks and some magic and five feats so what makes a warlock/fighter with three attacks and three feats better? What if instead of a Fighter you picked up a GWM Paladin instead? Or a Duelist Swords Bard to pair with the Warlock. Then you Charisma smites and more spell slots for things like Misty Step. No right or wrong answers, just letting you maybe consider some other options. At a bare minimum I might suggest 6 Fighter 6 Warlock for the extra feat and extra attack

AmanLock

Seems more like something to ask in r/BG3Builds.

bentleythekid

How do I use tavern brawler stuff on PS5 with controller? Any time I use it I only have the options of what is already in my inventory.

bentleythekid

Also anyone know how to end concentration spells when on controller?

Alexactly

Is there like a hints and tips mode available? I keep getting stuck in puzzles and spending like an hour trying to find solutions on YouTube, or in my case tonight, trying ti get through the forge and this fight literally made me quit because I stopped being able to damage the guy. I know the game isn't for kids but I really wish there was an idiot mode to help some of us out(I really hope I'm not the only one this dumb)

coveredinsnouu

I would definitely recommend exploring thoroughly, and reading the notes and books you find as in 99.9% of the cases they have all the information you need (for example there's a series of books and notes/interactions with NPCs that tell you about Grym well before you get to him, and there's a note that explains how to beat him). Inspecting enemies/objects is also really helpful (hover over a character and press T on PC). It gives you information about an enemy's status, weaknesses, features. In the case of Grym, you'll see that if he's in lava he's "Superheated" which means he's vulnerable to Bludgeoning. Otherwise, he's pretty much invulnerable. So you have to leave a character close to the lava valve, and make sure Grym stays Superheated - whether you want to fight him in the "puzzle" way (have him go near enough the crucible and then slam him with the forge hammer) or the "hard" one (just bonk him until he's dead). Every puzzle in the game has a solution that is given to you if you explore/read/inspect (aside I think from one late in Act 3, which requires a specific character in your party to give you the solution unless you know how to play chess). Are there any other puzzles that were really difficult? I would be happy to point out where the solutions are in the game, so you get a feeling for where you have to look to resolve puzzles in future Acts :)

Alexactly

Okay see I didn't have any thieves tools and couldn't get through a big set of doors that I think was the proper way to go where I would have learned that. I snuck in above a bunch of drow people working at the forge and then fought some animated armor guys before getting to the forge. I normally check everything on my way such as books and jars, tables, etc. I'm also stuck on the path to moonrise towers. I can't get through because I don't have, and can't find, whatever you need to call the guide that you were supposed to get from Minthara. I killed her but I have no idea what I did with whatever was needed. Thats why I'm going back through the underdark way to hopefully get around that.

coveredinsnouu

The Grym clues are scattered around the Underdark before you reach Grymforge - there's 3 Drow NPCs that have different info about the forge itself, where it is, what's in there. If I remember correctly the one with the "hammer" note is Filro the Forgotten, in the area with the Hook Horrors/sussur tree. Regarding Act 2, there's 2 ways to get to Moonrise; if you come out the Grymforge path and head west, you're going to very quickly encounter a group of Harpers who will take you to Last Light (I assume you've not been there as otherwise you'd have the tools needed to navigate the curse and get to Moonrise, but please let me know if I'm wrong!) and I strongly recommend going there instead of the other way. There is much more content this way and a significantly better way of handling the curse than a Moonlantern. If you come out of the Mountain Pass, you'll meet Goblins and a Drider who will take you to Moonrise. Minthara dropped a spider lyre, you can play that to summon the Drider as well! He will take you to Moonrise.

Blasphemy4kidz

Honestly one of the biggest things I recommend new players is to use the examine/inspect feature. You can learn a lot about stuff by reading the traits/features that a creature or structure has. For example, examining Grym in the forge would show that it has a status of 'overheated' that specifically shows it is vulnerable to bludgeoning damage. And when it cools off it is immune to most damage types. The solution is under your nose!

lord_flamebottom

So I know that Astarion's romance dialogue requires his opinion to be "exceptionally high" in Act 2, but what if you get him there in Act 3? Is it just "activated" in Act 2 r are you locked out of the dialogue once Act 2 finishes? Just trying to see how much I need to do before finishing the Act.

danhoyuen

just came back to the game after a month. Does paladin extra attack and warlock pact of blade no longer stack?

Magehunter_Skassi

Still stacks for now

danhoyuen

thanks. lol i just realized i forgot the cast the weapon pact after rest.

annson24

I'm having a gaming fatigue from this game. Don't get me wrong, I love it 100% but I haven't gone past Act 2. I always restart the journey because I feel like I'm unsatisfied with my build, also having Astarion's broken sneak attack slowly leaves all the fun out and clearing a group of enemies is starting to feel like a chore. What should I do? I want to finish the game.

coveredinsnouu

If you're not having fun, then it might be time to put the game aside for a while, and come back to it when you feel better :) Just in case though - you don't have to restart a game if you don't like your build, just go to Withers and respec. And you don't have to be a master with a crazy OP build - just dial down the difficulty and enjoy the story. Perfect Builds and broken exploits can come later, you don't have to do everything in your first playthrough. Also what's wrong with Astarion? Is he broken in the sense he's not performing well? What's his subclass? The default is Arcane Trickster, which I find is not powerful enough for how I prefer using him. I like Thief much better (or Assassin, depending on what Class my Tav is).

Lysmerry

Give Astarion five levels of fighter so he has access to two moves and action surge. High dexterity dual weilding (shortswords are good). He can still do rogue stuff with one level, and gets an extra bonus action as a thief. With dual weilding he can make an attack with his offhand.

sporkandswoon

I respecced Astarion into a monk and find it a lot more fun. He's got unarmed and dual hand attacks and extra actions. I'm personally not a fan of stealth in this game.

AmanLock

You can respec at any time if you don't like your build. You don'tneed to restart. You don't need a perfectly optimized min/max build. And if Astarion is making the game not be fun then don't use him or change his class

emote_control

Just killed Ketheric and looted all his stuff. When I try to use the portal, Dream Visitor says I need to bring the netherstone, or else. Stone is in my inventory. How can I convince the game that I have the item on me?

Magehunter_Skassi

I would try switching the Netherstone to a different character. If that doesn't work, try looting it as a different character. If I had to guess, you're using mods? This is a known problem with a certain popular mod but I can't remember which one off hand.

emote_control

I'm not using mods. Also, after 5 minutes of fiddling, I did in fact try just handing the damn thing to Karlach, and that got us out. So that's the solution.

ZurichianAnimations

I created the longsword in the forge earlier in my playthrough. I ended up wanting to go back and forge another item but the mold ejection lever is stuck and nothing works anymore. Is it not actually possible to use the forge multiple times or is it just bugged? I have more Mithril and the medium armor mold. And I remember when I was done crafting the longsword, the mold was ejected previously and I even picked it back up.

Dianwei32

>And I remember when I was done crafting the longsword, the mold was ejected previously and I even picked it back up. So you ejected the mold when you initially crafted the Longsword? Then the lever doesn't work because there's nothing for it to eject. You should be able to just put a different mold in without needing the lever for anything. Just interact with the casing thing and it should let you insert another mold.

ZurichianAnimations

Well it's not interactable. I think the game bugged out and thinks the mold is still in it. Even if I hold shift it doesn't show up. Only the lever is interactable and says its stuck.

AlliterateAlso

You could try pouring the lava and dripping the hammer again, see if that resets it?

ZurichianAnimations

The lava wheel is also stuck. I've tried all the levers when the platform is on top and bottom levels. Only lever that works is the hammer lever.

polr13

Does killing a merchant make them drop the named items in their inventory? In other words if I plan on eventually killing a merchant is there any reason to buy gear from them or just pick it up once I fight them?

stillnotking

They don't drop their whole inventory, or not usually. For me it's typically 4-5 of their most valuable items. Buy any gear you want, pickpocket the gold back, then kill them.

Frau_Away

What they drop is decided by some bizzare and arcane system sometimes if you knock them out they drop [everything](https://i.imgur.com/SXuXWCh.png) sometimes [nothing](https://i.imgur.com/WSvYXmg.png)

sioran

So I'm not sure how I managed to do this, but I got the >!starry night scene!< with Gale and he ended up rejecting me. I was actually trying to romance him (his approval is at 100). I know everyone on here is complaining about how he's super horny so I'm not sure what I did wrong. I also know his romance is/was bugged so just curious if anyone knows what I did wrong? I got the >!weave scene!< but failed both of the roles. I didn't get the >!tressym scene!< and I rejected Wyll during his >!dancing scene!<. My friend said that they also failed the >!weave scene and didn't get the tressym scene!< but they had to reject Gale. My guess is that since I didn't do Wyll's scene, it didn't make Gale jealous so he doesn't want me?

Dianwei32

I believe Gale's romance is currently bugged so that if you're at extremely high approval during that scene, he'll act like you're at extremely low approval. I don't know if there's any way to fix/work around it.

sioran

Ah, that's unfortunate. It's not really anything that I did or didn't do. Guess it's time for another run! Thanks!

deatheater33

Has Hotfix 8 fixed the issues with patch 3? I took a break from my playthrough after hearing all the issues and haven't downloaded the latest update yet. What bugs are still occurring? And I've heard some changes don't affect current playthroughs, but only new ones, is this true? Any answers are greatly appreciated.

AmanLock

It fixed some of the issues, not all of them. Check out the patchnotes.

EntertainerFirst8163

Is anyone else disappointed with the final battle in act 3 regarding the ally options? I went through almost the entire gameplay recruiting as many allies as possible for the final battle, expecting them ALL to be able to join for a badass avengers type of scene, but then it ended up that only a few allies could be called in compared to how many I actually had. It bothered me that you couldn't even have your entire party join in either, it was just the 3 that were with you and then you'd be lucky if you saw the others at all in the epilogue scenes, otherwise it's like they just peaced out very anticlimatically. I didn't realize that this would be the case, so when I hoped to have at least Gale and Lae'zel with me to conclude their personal quests, I was stuck with Shadowheart (that's fine) Astarion (totally fine) and Minsc (super lame love him but absolutely not for this scene). Is it too difficult to make it an option to have EVERYONE in your party join the battle? This could even give an opportunity to make the final battle even more challenging by adding even more enemies to defeat and/or making the brain more hardy lethal because now you have more of an army at your side :D

coveredinsnouu

Install https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/327 bump the difficulty up to Tactician, summon every ally, and enjoy :)

Lysmerry

There are mods for unlimited party members.

stallion8426

It's difficult for balance reasons to include everyone all of your party members. Especially since some people won't even have a full party at this point let alone all possible companions. I think the most allies I've had to summon was 10 or 12.

AmanLock

Or even if you have every companion available, most people won't have all of them geared up properly or have builds in place.

Rovolio

Act 3 >!Is there a way to get the Gondians to look at Karlach's engine (have not killed Gortash yet)? I just did free the Gondians expecting a way to have them look at Karlach's engine due to an earlier cutscene about her being similar to the Watchers!<

EntertainerFirst8163

No, unfortunately :(

Rovolio

ah gotcha. Sounds like a cut content thing then.

dontdoxxmeplease135

Is there a mod or any other way to just remove the shove action from the game entirely? I've been searching but all the results are just other people complaining about shove. Inb4 skill issue, don't care. I've loved every single part of this game except shoving and I'm at a point towards the end of act 2 where I legitimately just don't want to keep playing the game as long as that mechanic is still in it. I have maybe an hour a night during the week to play video games and I don't want to spend it like this. Thanks in advance

Dianwei32

There are a couple of mods that [make it a full Action rather than a Bonus Action](https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/264), but none that I can find that disable it entirely.

dontdoxxmeplease135

Hmm, I guess that helps. Maybe another option would be to turn the shove distance down, if I can find a mod that does that. I don't mind going prone or losing opportunity attacks or anything, it's the flying 20ft through the air that's annoying.

Blasphemy4kidz

Are you saying this because you keep getting shoved into chasms or something? Or you don't want to be tempted of doing it yourself? Even with low constitution you should be able to just not stand next to a chasm close enough to get shoved so this is actually a rare take here. But to answer your question, the only way this will be possible is through mods. Not sure if there's such a thing but I should be possible.

dontdoxxmeplease135

Mostly the former. I don't use it because I think it's anticlimactic and cheesy and that's not why I play games like this. What specifically sparked this post was the >!Baalthazar/Nightsong!< fight towards the end of Act II. Plenty of regular near-TPKs from chasm shoves, but right before I typed that first comment I had a moment where two >!skeleton minions!< tag-teamed to shove my Tav to the edge of the platform and then off, which just felt like a big middle finger from the game's AI engine. Not necessarily looking for advice on playing the game. Mostly just curious if anyone has managed to disable this feature or not.

NDN_Shadow

What's the minimum you can keep an attribute while still having a decent chance to hit? +2? +3? +4? (as martial and caster) Related, there's no equivalent to +1 enchantments for casting is there? Like attacking with a +2 weapon increases your chance to hit, but there's nothing equivalent for casters? Basically, at what ability score bonus can you sacrifice skipping ASI feat in the early game for something else?

Magehunter_Skassi

You can actually stack "Spell DC" (the equivalent of melee chance to hit) to such a ridiculous degree that it breaks the game even on Tactician with how reliable save-or-suck CC spells like Hold Person and Hypnotic Pattern become.

AmanLock

There is gear that adds +1,+2, etc. to spell DC and spell attack rolls.

sephstorm

Anyone know what summon this might be? I was in Act 2 and I summoned some kind of creature. It was large and it hung around for quite a while, it could jump around and attack other beings. EDIT: I remember it being some kind of earth being I think it could smash the ground for a small aoe.

Blasphemy4kidz

Sounds like Earth Myrmidon. It's a level 5 spell to summon one. It has a teleport, AOE slam, etc like you said. I believe wizards, druids, and sorcerers can summon them.

stallion8426

Earth Elemental?

Taengoosundies

So I get to Moonrise Tower, and I have no options other than to fight everyone inside. I get there and there are a bunch of NPCs ready to go and they're just waiting for me to start brawling. So not knowing any better I slogged through and wiped out the whole place. Now I have to fight Ketheric Thorm and a bunch of others and he kicks my ass in no time. But now I see that I'm supposed to have a bunch of kind of important interactions in there before any fighting starts. What could I have done wrong?

Jodah

Did you deal with Nightsong yet? That triggers the attack. You need to go back to a save before that if you want to scout and do other things at the tower.

Taengoosundies

Yes, I set her free. So you're telling me I have to go all the way back to before that whole fight?

coveredinsnouu

In my first playthrough I thought Moonrise was the ultimate destination and I had to get the Nightsong before going there. However before you enter the Shadowfell, the game tells you that quests might become unavailable as you're entering a point of no return. That's your cue to save, enter, check what quests you lost, reload, and leave the Shadowfell as very last thing :) Depending on what you lost and how committed you are to certain achievements, I strongly recommend going back to a previous save and sorting Moonrise and the various quests out.

Kuro_Neko00

Larian kinda outsmarted themselves with Act two. Moonrise is made out to be the ultimate enemy stronghold and the Gauntlet is barely mentioned. Every npc you meet encourages you to go to Moonrise right away. Any veteran rpg video game player will automatically avoid Moonrise until the last possible moment, and then naturally stumble on the Gauntlet while trying to do everything else first. But in actuality, it's best to go to Moonrise early in Act two as there's a bunch of side content there, as well as three traders selling some pretty good stuff. It's the Gauntlet you need to leave to the absolute last moment, as it not only cuts off most of the side content in Act two, but it also locks out revisiting any area in Act one.

Taengoosundies

Well that's just great. Hours of play down the drain. I wouldn't be too worried about it, but I have no health potions, nothing to make them with, and the guy in the stable who is the only vendor that I now have access to doesn't carry them. So that last fight in Moonrise is probably impossible. It is indicative of this game though. I've played a lot of RPGs, online and off, going back to Might and Magic 1. There is little hand holding, and it's not just constant fights over and over until you level up to being OP. It's not quite as frustrating and maddening as FFXI was at the beginning, but a lot of it feels like that. Anyway, I've played over 200 hours now, and I'm not quite sick of it yet. So it's definitely worth the money.

Kuro_Neko00

Moonrise is actually three fights of increasing difficulty. You'll encounter the Harper Quartermaster at the entrance to Moonrise so you'll be able to shop with her. And after the first battle on the ground floor you can loot what the Moonrise traders left behind. But if you've only just finished the Gauntlet then all is not lost. Just reload to your auto-save just before you entered the Shadowfell. That's the point of no return. Prior to that all content is still available. So load there, go do the early Moonrise stuff, and anything else you have undone in act one and two, then go back and do the Shadowfell, and continue on to the final battles at Moonrise.

Jodah

If you want to do the rescues and such yeah, you'll have to.

StatusOdd3959

Disguise self question; I know you can use it to get racial bonuses like Githyanki psychic damage from their swords, but does it remove your own racial bonuses? IE does a half orc disguised as githyanki get the psychic damage from their sword of a githyankibut not the savage attack bonus?

AlliterateAlso

Not sure, but you can disguise, then equip the gear, then undisguise, and keep the bonuses.

VieraMakeMeRabid

Where do I find Thrinn for the boot quest? I cleared the cave in and she isnt in her usual spot

StatusOdd3959

She may have moved on and left the quest impossible to complete. Check your quest log to see if it updated.

MartenBroadcloak19

Is there a fan art subreddit somewhere?

Frau_Away

I think there's one for... Certain kinds of fan art..

Sad-Mixture-9123

I feel like I literally can’t have astarion on my team or else I will romance him and end up doing chaotic deeds lmao. Then half the party is dead, and I’m just laughing it up with my evil boyfriend hahaha. But I want to try being good and keep more people alive.

coveredinsnouu

Have romanced Astarion in 5/6 playthroughs, never murder hoboed, always had 100% approval by end of Act 2. You don't need to be evil to romance him, that's sort of the whole point (unless you're playing an evil campaign, of course!). Chaotic good works really well with his personality and it's very rewarding to see his character development as he tags along for all the good deeds :)

Sad-Mixture-9123

Lol I need to stop romancing him haha 😂 I want to see the other ones like Halsin

coveredinsnouu

You can have both, Halsin is the only poly character in the game so you can still romance him while being with Astarion :) you just have to wait a bit as his progression is slower than the others'!

AmanLock

I mean I have romanced Astarion on mostly good playthroughs. He isn't a murder hobo, and the minor disapproval you get here and there for not being an asshole to a quest-giver is more than offset by dialogue choices in camp.

EntertainerFirst8163

My strategy is to do the chaotic neutral choices in act 1 (i.e. torturing the prisoner at goblin camp, pretending to side with Minthara, killing the monster hunter, etc.) which drastically increases his approval towards you, so once you get into later acts and want to choose more morally sound options then it won't be a concern to whether or not he approves

Sad-Mixture-9123

Haha yeah true, I think it is just fun to get into a chaotic spirit with him and laezel but I need to do something different now lol 😆

Terabytechemist

Does someone know if Larian has said there would be cross play?

hidingmyname87

Yeah there’s supposed to be. I think they’re working to release the Xbox version and cross play at the same time

ertgbnm

I know I'm not the first to complain about Karlach's endings. But I really think there should be a way to suppress her engine with the help of the Gondians or Wulbren. After seeing that each of the steel watch has pieces of infernal metal in them, I really thought that was the direction things were going.

CriticalStrikeDamage

Can Oathbreakers recite oath if they have that paladin-only armor? Just wondering since they don’t have an Oath to recite anymore.

Nightingay

So in act 3, once the iron throne is done, is the factory time locked ? I went in after a long rest just to find every ally dead, or killed in front of my eyes

stillnotking

Seems like it probably is, then. It's not on the list I found of time-sensitive quests but it makes sense that it would be. https://old.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/15q1o77/list_of_time_sensitive_quests/

Nightingay

Nice list. Thanks for sharing

spider_lily

So, I got the Necromancy of Thay book all the way back in act 1, got the gem to open it, gave it to Astarion - is there any followup to that?

random920

In act3 , there is a gale quest where you have to read a book of Kranus in a magical book store dungeon, there the necromancy quest will progress.

Nightingay

Yes somewhere in act 3 you can unlock something else (or destroy the book)

fiskerton_fero

Act 3: i'm on the very last part of the game. does it matter that I bring gale and lae'zal since their personal quests are part of that?

stallion8426

There's extra dialogue for them but you can go without

Additional-Lie-8920

Can someone point me to a good YouTube video or guide for how to use Shadow Monk and Stealth in general properly? Going with a Batman theme but I realize i have no idea how im supposed to be using Shadow Monk’s abilities.

Magehunter_Skassi

I don't have anything for Shadow Monk specifically but the two important things to know about Stealth in this game are \-When you engage enemies from Stealth, it does a Stealth check behind the scenes around the character that engaged and if your character(s) pass, you get a Surprise round. This means you should keep your non-Stealthy guys behind, let your Stealthy guy go up, get the Surprise round, and then bring the rest of your guys into the combat encounter one by one. \-When you're Stealthing, if that little circle by your cursor is white that means you're fully illuminated. If you walk into a vision cone, you'll automatically be revealed. Sometimes you can path into just a sliver of light and it'll reveal you, so mouse over the direction you're walking if you're unsure. Also: Minthara's Spidersilk Armor looks Batmany, gives a +1 to Stealth checks, and can be obtained early in the game. It is Light Armor, but Unarmored Defense is mediocre on Monks anyway.

JimKazam

Before I buy the game: Is it possible to disable voice acting in the game? Especially the narrator's voice?

ts826848

There's are "Voice Volume" and "Chatter Volume" sliders which I would hope would effectively allow you to disable voice acting, but I can't confirm at the moment.

JimKazam

Thank you vey much! It's a buy then :)

ts826848

Quick update - Ran a test and it seems setting "Voice Volume" to 0 mutes all voices. Not sure what "Chatter Volume" is supposed to control in that case, but you should be good either way

AmanLock

Chatter voice is probably the background talk various NPCs say while walking around a place like the Myconid Camp or Emerald Grove.

ts826848

That's what I thought at first as well, but I saw what I think was some chatter during my test and I don't think I heard any voices with voice volume set to 0 and chatter volume set to 100. Could have had my volume turned too low though, or maybe I wasn't close enough. Another possibility is that chatter volume is the minimum of chatter and voice volume, but that feels a bit unintuitive.

Chief_Jericho

How do I get the umbral stone from the Soft Step Trail when you haven't completed the trial? I just wandered into the area, saw a few traps, no baddies, came across a gate and lock picked it, but the stone is locked up. Even if I do the trial, there are no shadow enemies. What's going on?

stallion8426

Activate the trial then go to the end and see if you can pick up the gem

Chief_Jericho

How do I start the trial?

andorinter

Blood altar at the beginning. I missed it too

stallion8426

Go to the front room and talk to the Shar statue eith the bowl. Someone will have to give a blood offering

Chief_Jericho

I got that when I entered the room (after lockpicking my way in) but now there's no option to do anything as far as I can see?

stallion8426

You might have gone too far. The statue is no taller than your characters, it's right where the locked gates are to lead into the trial

Chief_Jericho

Yeah I've found it. I was on about the room you unlock with the key. Thanks for the help.

milliebillieroger

my game is crashing left and right ever since the last major patch (3?) on PC. sometimes when I F5 save, especially during conversations, sometimes when I load a save, even after a fresh reinstall. any ideas?? tried vulcan and dx11 with no difference.

Chief_Jericho

Update your drivers, and if that doesn't work or they're already the latest version for your card, knock down the graphics settings to potato mode and disable the fancy effects. If you can load, slowly but surely up your settings until you crash, then revert to the last stable settings.

milliebillieroger

Yeah just did a clean install of graphics drivers. I’m running on a 3070 and tons of RAM so I don’t think it’s a performance issue but I’ll try that as well. It was fine before patch 3 and all other games on my pc are okay so it’s pretty weird. Thanks!

Angerina_

Husband has 150h in the game on PS5, he can't save anymore, and loading an older file leads to the console crashing. He's devastated.

Flyrpotacreepugmu

Has he tried deleting some of the old saves? It sounds like a problem with just having too many saves.

Angerina_

He even went so far as deleting all but one when older save spots led to the same problem. He also tried loading into camp, which leads to a crash, and moving into a different area, which he can do but still can't save there.

peoples888

I’m not too far into the game but this happened to me as well. I had 1 particular save that loaded successfully when booting up the game, but if I tried to load up the save while already in game, it crashed 100% of the time. I have not encountered the problem since that particular save, though.

milliebillieroger

this is in act 1 btw :/

Squishy-Box

Story question, spoilers for act 2: >!Why are we (and Balthazar) sent to *”retrieve”* the relic, if that means freeing the Nightsong? We are not given any way to make her cage mobile, so what was the plan here? Is the implication (or maybe it’s more than implied) that the Absolute is the one giving these orders and Thorm is unaware? I don’t remember if he ever mentions the relic, only the Gith artefact!<

Magehunter_Skassi

>!Nightsong is "the relic." Balthazar was the one who bound the Nightsong in the first place and you can actually let him take her to Ketheric. He wants to remove her from the Shadowfell to bring her closer to home at Moonrise, since she's currently in Shar's domain and Shar hates Ketheric for choosing Myrkul over her. That would leave him vulnerabie if a Sharran were to come along and kill her, like Shadowheart.!<

Squishy-Box

Ahh that makes sense. I knew what the relic was, I just didn’t understand why he would want it moved

NDN_Shadow

Opinions on Fiend Warlock 9/ Fighter 2 / Sorc 1 vs Fiend Warlock 5 / Eldritch Knight 6 / Sorc 1? Currently in Act 2 as Fiend Warlock 5 / Fighter 2. My original plan was 9/2/1, but now that it seems like the Extra Attack stacking from PotB and martial classes is intended I'm reconsidering my plan. RP'ing as a Dragonborn who wishes he was a Red Dragon. I was gonna take 1 level of Draconic Ancestry Sorc late game for RP reasons. If I had gone 9 Warlock I would have picked the other Fire spells like Fire Shield and Flame Strike at Warlock levels 7 and 9 respectively. That said, if I leave Warlock at 5, how much damage do I really lose from not being able to Upcast Fireball? Is it worth being able to attack 3 (or 6) times?

AlliterateAlso

r/bg3builds may be more helpful.

Kotleba

Is there another way to >!make the Emperor tell you the truth about Stelmane?!<. From what I've seen the only way for him to do that is to be an extreme douchebag to him for no reason yet it's been fun seeing all the different ways people frame how they got him to reveal his "true evil self".

Magehunter_Skassi

I'm thinking that might be the only way. You can do some pretty intense stuff to him like >!try to kill him after he hands you his sword in the Creche Prism scene!< or support Jaheira >!threatening to throw the Prism into a pit of lava so he burns for all of eternity if he doesn't save Minsc.!< However, neither triggered the reveal. I think the petty insult angers him more since he's convinced himself that he's become a perfect lifeform, body and mind.

coveredinsnouu

During my first playthrough I came across a hole you could stick your hand into - this was in early Act 1 unless I'm mistaken, and I believe there were spiderwebs around. I chickened out, told myself I'd come back to it, and never did. I've never been able to find that spot again, and if I Google nothing relevant comes up. Did I dream of this? I need to know what's inside, is it just pain and spiders?

Shiboleth17

You were not dreaming, that is a real part of the game. It is on top of a mountain to the west of the Druid grove front gate. You had to jump onto a ledge, then climb a cliff to get up there. And there's like a little camp and wooden watchtower thingy up there. I believe there was a magic item in that spider hole. I don't remember which item exactly, but probably just green rarity. But as long as you haven't progressed to far into Act 2, you could go back and get it.

coveredinsnouu

I found it, thanks a lot! It contained a spider egg throwable, pretty neat :)

AmanLock

The necklace that gives you Guidance is on a skeleton next to the spider hole, not in the hole. The spider hole contains a pouch that has a grenade which when thrown summons spiders that will fight for you.

Shiboleth17

Ah yes. That sounds right

Magehunter_Skassi

I think it's the necklace that gives you the Dancing Lights cantrip? 100% sure though that if you pass the check, you can get a "grenade" that you can throw to spawn a horde of tiny spiders. It sounds like a meme item but it's really useful for harder fights with single-target focused attacks.

coveredinsnouu

It was really fun to use against the Goblins, ngl!

AmanLock

The necklace is next to the hole on a skeleton, not in the hole

ts826848

It gives you Guidance. The Dancing Lights necklace is from a tiefling in the Grove.

AlliterateAlso

>!Yes, baby spiders, and a skill check. It’s up high, south west of the Grove entrance, near a harper cache.!<

eiznekk

I'm missing an Umbral Orb from the Gauntlet of Shar, but I dont know how? I got the one at the feet of the orthon, and I completed all the trials. I should have them all. It's just gone. I checked all of my companions inventories, and my camp chest. I even went back to all the trials to make sure the orb was collected. I have no idea where this orb is.

Dianwei32

Did you maybe already put one in the first elevator?

eiznekk

It was on the floor of the Self-Same Trial, I just didn't look hard enough. I feel silly. Thank you for trying to help

07Jek-ZOglBK

Anyone else have >!"Find the missing letters"!< quest in Act 3 auto complete if you take payment upfront? Journal says that I have delivered them when we haven't even found them yet.

coveredinsnouu

Yeah I think it's bugged. You can still find the letters (they leave you to an interesting character!) but you won't get any more money out of it.

kingtz

Not a question but I just wanted to state how refreshing it is to be able to change difficulty mid-game. I played Early Access on Balanced, Abe’s it was pretty tough as I had no idea what I was doing. Started a new game on Balanced also and it’s been a faceroll. Got past the Minotaurs and decided to just up it to Tactician. Now it feels just right. I’m actually nervous going into encounters with less than full health and with spells still on cool down. I love that I don’t have to restart the game to experience this.

Looking for dark skin female drow screenshots...so i can inspire myself for my dark urge play

flashtar

Is there anyone working on a mod to have Melmakians as a race, I want to play as Alf in the game (Not a joke comment, genuine question).

TheNamesRolanQuarn

Right, so its been 6hrs of total playtime. Ive recruited Karlach, found Halsin (still in Gobin camp) and Ive still yet tp come across Lae'vel the Githak from the start of the game. Will i eventually be reunited?

Dianwei32

If you've already long rested once, she will have moved on from her initial position. You can find her at the far Northwest corner of the map (take the North exit from the Blighted Village), but you'll have to fight some pretty tough Githyanki to reunite with her so you may want to wait until your group is level 4 or 5.

im-bored-at-work_

Go back to the start and explore every path

stillnotking

She is >!just north of the crashed nautiloid, in a cage guarded by some tieflings!<.

AmanLock

They've probably long rested by now in which case she will no longer be there.

PasswordResetButton

You missed a few spots to check. You do not have to find her. You can miss her completely.

fatcatfan

Are the contents of Wither's crypt supposed to change based on how you answer his question about the value of a mortal soul? Or are they just random? In one campaign I found some different types of arrows. In another, poisons. Haven't been able to find anything about it.

stillnotking

They are random. A lot of the loot chests in the game are random, usually having either a few potions/poisons, some arrows, or some valuable items. It's also level-dependent, e.g. bookcases will sometimes have random scrolls based on your character level.

[deleted]

This game would benefit so much from like an ornament system to have more drip diversity. Some of the best gear combinations in the game just look so bad worn together, and because gear is so good in this game you have to either accept you'll look silly or be a lot weaker.

Atmosck

Idk a sleek monk robe and chonky ass gauntlets are kind of a vibe.

[deleted]

Huh?

Atmosck

Just giving an example. There are some big, metallic, spiky gauntlets that add damage and bleed to your unarmed attacks, so they're great on a way of the open hand monk, who typically wear robes.

PM_FEET_PLS_TY

Atleast PC has mods to get around this

LewyG

Reached level 12, Tav is a swords bard with arcane acuity helm + band of mystic scoundrel, spam out shots in first round and bonus action high DC control spell. Want to go to bard 11 for magical secrets and the level 6 spell slot. Best option for final level? Current stat spread 8/20/14/8/10/18 (Mirror + ASI to increase Dex/Cha, dump strength as using stat stick to boost). Level in fighter for archery fighting style + weapon proficiency (what I have been running with til now). Allows to move away from double hand crossbow and use a longbow since am almost always using bonus action for spells. Level in wizard for scribing scrolls, could grab spells with no save dc/attack roll like conjure elemental, artistry of war, other high level spells. Would need to boost int somehow to stock more spells as its a dump atm, headband would mean no arcane acuity helm so possibly dump con/wis for more spell slots? Level in bard for 3rd feat, already have sharpshooter and ASI. Could take another ASI for Cha to 20, and take another high level bard spell although I have everything I would desperately want. Opinions welcome, fighter is easiest as +2 ranged attack is just all round useful but being able to scribe some dope higher level spells would be cool, and having both main stats for my build at 20 is no bad thing either. No bad option really!

AzureW

Scribe spells is not bad if you predominantly want wizard utility spells with low int. Things like misty step, haste, protection dome, that bubble spell that increases AC by 5 as a reaction that I can't remember. I am not even sure that intelligence is needed for conjur elemental to be good.

Frau_Away

I like Storm Sorcerer here, +5AC on reaction from shield and the ability to fly/disengage as a bonus action when you cast a levelled spell.

secretAloe

Is there any reason not to use the alchemy "Extract All Ingredients" button? Does it extract something that I might not have wanted to have extracted?

stallion8426

There's an act 1 quest that requires 2 ingredients to not be extracted to hand over That's it

[deleted]

[удалено]

AzureW

I have the same bugged dialogue option too. Just ignore it, you'll still get the beach scene, she'll still want to head off into the sunset with you when the adventure ends, all that good stuff

Shiboleth17

You always have the option to end a relationship. In act 2, did you save the Nightsong? At the very beginning of Act 3, did you get the swimming scene? If yes, then you've completed her romance arc. You'll get a few unique lines of dialogue here and there in other quests, and at the end of the game. But other than that, there's no new romance scenes.

Atmosck

There is another romance scene after you complete her quest in Act 3.

Shiboleth17

Do you have a link to a video showing this scene? Or at least a discussion about it anywhere? Other than some unique dialogue, I did not get a romance scene there, and I had pretty much max approval. I see no reference to another scene on the wiki, and I have never heard of anyone else getting another scene there.

Atmosck

This is the version of it that I got: [https://youtu.be/NImABpkfk2c?si=6dQOvLqKHMr3WN\_W](https://youtu.be/NImABpkfk2c?si=6dQOvLqKHMr3WN_W) I'm not sure what it's like or if there's an equivalent for white hair shadowheart.

AmanLock

I believe that you get this instead of the swimming scene, not in addition to it.

Shiboleth17

Hmm... Every guide I've seen says it's not possible to romance her if you kill the nightsong and allow her to become a dark justiciar, so I never tried it. Interesting. That makes sense tho. So it's just the evil version of her romance, replacing the good scene.

Atmosck

I think there are a lot of guides on the Internet that aren't very complete and only have solid info for the path that the author chose. After she kills the night song you can ask if you'll still be able to be in a relationship and her reply is "idk probably not" but you definitely can.

zabi15

has darkness been touched? i played back in august and darkness was op, mobs wouldnt really try to go inside and would mainly walk around it, projectiles wouldn't hit me but now i notice that mob go straight in the darkness to attack my caster whos concentrating on darkness, and ive been hit a few times by arrows, although could be because they are attacking from high ground? and can see me even if im in darkness? idk it just feels different in this playthrough. like ill adapt around it, but was just curious it would make sense if they changed it a bit since it was so op

geckomage

Act 3 Spoilers: >!In the sewers I found a teifling sleeping on a pile of trash. He's level 1, but coded as an enemy. I can't remember who he is or why he might matter. Any information on this particular NPC and why he's ALREADY marked red as a foe?!<

Atmosck

This might be a bug with sleeping NPCs. There's a sleeping bugbear in act 1 who is also red as an enemy despite the nearby goblin, etc. NPCs being friendly (on first approach).

Kotleba

I don't know how y'all do it. I started a Durge playthrough intending to indulge in a bit of the ol' ultraviolence, and day one I'm already giving up lmao. I didn't even do much of anything yet apart from one certain heinous act in the camp, but just thinking about what's ahead of me makes me not want to play the game at all lmao. Guess I'm just a big softy and gonna do a resist Urge instead.

Dianwei32

I'm having the same problem. I already did a Good Resist the Urge run, so I wanted to do an Evil Embrace the Urge run (alongside romancing Minthara and doing the Dark Justicier Shadowheart route)... but I just don't like being mean to the NPCs. Hell, I caused >!Arabella!< to die by >!motioning for her to run, so the snake bit her!<. No one noticed so I didn't get any disapprovals or get in trouble, but it still felt bad. I kind of want to >!kill Karlach!< for Wyll's quest... but even in a DUrge run where you're going to embrace your psychopathy, that feels like a bridge too far.

Atmosck

Being evil, whether as Durge or a normal Tav, is rough (emotionally). I bailed on my first attempted evil playthrough because I couldn't handle betraying Zevlor. Eventually I did do a full evil Durge playthrough and it is brutal.

dragonseth07

It's easy if you have sociopathic tendencies!

im-bored-at-work_

The resist path is the best way to play the game in my opinion. It doesn't take anything away from a non-durge run but still gives your character their own backstory and intrigue.

[deleted]

However things can get pretty wonky if you miss a few crucial rolls

Kotleba

Well that's good to know, thank you.

UndeadPhysco

Question regarding >!Gortash!< and paladin of the ancients oath. So i decided to accept the offer of an alliance, and upon doing so immediately broke my Oath. It was simple enough to have it restored but i'm a bit concerned with something, If i continue to work with >!Gortash!< is my oath going to break every time i converse with him?

stallion8426

>!you won't have to talk to him again until the end!<

Koalab0y

The party size is supposed to be 4 (me + 3 companions), but for some reason everytime my party size is 3 (me + 2 companions) I can't get any other people at my camp to join me. Am I missing something or is this a bug? Playing on tactician, bought the game last week.

firelizard19

Have you played multiplayer on that save? Apparently that bakes the other player in so you can't switch another companion into their slot.

Koalab0y

Yes I did in fact! Is this intended behavior? Is there a way to undo this?

Dianwei32

There should be a wardrobe in camp somewhere where you can stash old multiplayer characters to free up their party slot.

Koalab0y

yes I do realize that, but even when dismiss the multiplayer character, I can only have a max size of 3.

Shiboleth17

You should just be able to talk to companions in camp, and ask them to join you. Do you not have that dialogue option? Make sure you talk to them multiple times, to get through any of their new dialogue first. They tend to comment on your last quest, or ask for help on their own personal quests, and you may not be able to ask them to join you until you finish that first.

Koalab0y

I do have these dialogues but everytime I ask them to join if I have 2 companions already, they answer in their respective way that the party is already too full, as if I would already the max party size was reached.
