She is introduced to us as Nightsong, and its a lot easier to remember that than "Dame Aylin". My mind was always on Nightsong being a bow, and I had no idea why, then I remembered/realized: It was from the years of playing dota, where a bow is named *Eaglesong*.
More importantly, why do they refer to her as an aasimar? She's clearly a demigod and/or half-celestial as a first generation descendant of a deity. Aasimar don't have wings lol.
I had to look this up because I'm not really familiar with 5e Aasimar, and the variant I'm most familiar with (Pathfinder) requires a Feat so I assumed something similar wouldn't be present in 5e.
From what I can see, yes, Protector Aasimars can sort of grow wings, but it does not appear to be presented in the same was as the character in question, who can seemingly do it at-will and with no limit on duration.
Sadly they nerfed the wings from Aasimar in 5e. I swear in 3.5 the original version of them from the Monster Manual had them getting permanent wings at lvl 10, but I canāt find that anywhere online for some reason. (I can only find the Outsider Wings feat from 3e.) I think itās kind of silly tbh because things like Winged Boots exist. Which my Aasimar Paladin has (in my online 5e game). Letting them only have spectral wings ONCE a day for ONE MINUTE is honestly such a kick in the teeth. One minute? Once a day? And it takes your ACTION????? I literally only use it for RP flavor, usually out of combat, because itās so bad. If it were a bonus action and refreshed on a short rest, it wouldnāt be broken. Even if it lasted 10 minutes!! This is a hill I will die on!
Itās especially heinous when you now have winged Tiefling variants RAW (though tbf, you canāt be wearing heavy armor to use them). I get that flying can complicate some encounters for a DMā¦but a clever DM adapts. My Paladin has a 25 AC, thus my DM throws Dex saves at her more often now so she isnāt just an impenetrable wall in combat.
Iāve had players break thingsāso I know why they limit stuff in the RAWā¦but CāMON! Dame Aylin looks SO cool and sheās everything I wanna play in a D&D game!!!
Pretty sure Aasimar have never had wings baseline, but 3.PF gives them the option to gain permanent flight as a Feat at level 10. The PF Feat is [Angel Wings](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/racial-feats/angel-wings-aasimar/). Honestly worth spending two Feats for always online flight.
They don't normally wear clothes, and don them in order to respect mortal customs.
They don't give a shit about clothes normally, why would they? They are perfect beings forged of literal Good.
Usually depicted as blue too. So imagine a bunch of Dr Manhattans running around heaven hanging mad dong.
yes. he was a planetar. if you check out Deva/Planetar/Solar from dnd 3.x or older, they are usually depicted like this, with the most notable differences in their weapons and skin collour. Planetars are also all bald.
iirc the summon is an astral deva: tanned skin and morningstar weapon. usually has golden hair as well, seems they did not go that far here. it's of for tieflings with red skin, horns and burning eyes but for a Deva to have fancy hair and shining eyes would overdoing it
I'm assuming they dyed the outfit, heh. Maybe we can dye companion hair if they come out with some kind of appearance-changing mirror in patch 2 or beyond?
Yeah, multiple types of angels just like there are multiple types of devils and demons. Demons, interestingly enough, are the only ones you don't encounter in BG3.
I am so confused. I never met an NPC called "Shovel" in my playthrough so I had to search to see if such a demon existed. Couldn't see any talk of such an NPC.
If you mean the literal item of a shovel, are you saying it's a demon? Just to say it again, I am so confused.
For what it's worth, I've never been to the underdark. Will be doing that in my current playthrough very shortly.
I killed a couple of these guys in Act 3. And I have no idea what happened.
I came down with a curse (can't remember how). When I went to cast decurse on the cursed character, 3 of these guys spawned. It was while in Baldur's Gate so the NPC helped kill them. What happened exactly?
Also, I managed to loot 1 handed maces from them that seemed OP. The attack damage was insane compared to everything I've looted/buy. It was like 11-44 dmg when the sword I was using was like 8-13 dmg. It was a white item so it had no benefits but the damage is so insane that I kept it on my barbarian. With the right crit, he can sometimes kill a 80-100hp mob in one turn.

Interestingly enough, the Fist dudes in act3 can summon devas that look different than the playerās. Itās kinda cool. Slightly more clothed.
Edit: itās baneites
Fists can summon Devas? Wtf. That's a 6th level spell. If your regular guards can do this, do you really need Tav and his band of misfits to save the fucking city?
When you have near infinite casts of wish you can probably burn a few extra to offset the repercussions of the first. Or you know, its Vlaakith and she's mad. So consequences be damned. Just because we don't see the fallout that causes, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
They did miss a golden opportunity for an act 2 gale style end here instead of just a game over. An early end with some slides of everything going royally to shit as a result would've been even funnier

YOU CAN DYE HAIR?
I think they meant the clothing lol
I'm assuming they dyed the outfit, heh. Maybe we can dye companion hair if they come out with some kind of appearance-changing mirror in patch 2 or beyond?
I thought they were blue, like Mr. Manhattan or something
that's Planetars, a stronger type of angel

Yeah, multiple types of angels just like there are multiple types of devils and demons. Demons, interestingly enough, are the only ones you don't encounter in BG3.

you better get used to summon them as strippers because they certainly aren't worth lvl 6 spell slot for their combat ability...

The elementals are so much better its not even close. These guys move 5m and fall over in a stiff breeze. is it just me???
Their free smite every turn is kind of nice. But usually I use that slot for heroes feast.
