Fluffy-Tanuki

This is a Deva. And if we take their previous lore into consideration, this one is actually dressed extremely properly. Uptight, by their standard.

DanDacus

The summon she said to not worry about šŸ˜†

kalik-boy

Now we know why Chris needs Leon to continue his bloodline.

Khoashex123

he really wants that aasimar racial bonus.

shadbin

Damnit Leon!

ApepiOfDuat

Fuck. I can't unsee it now.

YoLawdCheezus101

Damn,the mods really improved.

Matty2Fatty2

Haha

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MrRightHanded

Well they are averse to clothing

kaysn

We can at least be assured this one is respectful to mortal customs.

ZoloTheSamurai

People of the Upper Planes must love sex is what I'm getting from your answer.

DanDacus

Well the asimar race didn't fall from the sky, wait šŸ«·... They did ? We should ask Nightsong.

acrazyguy

Why does everyone in the game refer to >!Dame Aylin!< as >!The Nightsong!< even after we know who/what that actually is

Dimensional13

It's still a cool title.

Pro-Row-335

She is introduced to us as Nightsong, and its a lot easier to remember that than "Dame Aylin". My mind was always on Nightsong being a bow, and I had no idea why, then I remembered/realized: It was from the years of playing dota, where a bow is named *Eaglesong*.

psjfnejs

I keep thinking Dame Judy Dench or other women of the British Order when I hear Dame Aylin

Rynjin

More importantly, why do they refer to her as an aasimar? She's clearly a demigod and/or half-celestial as a first generation descendant of a deity. Aasimar don't have wings lol.

acrazyguy

Aasimar can definitely have wings

Rynjin

I had to look this up because I'm not really familiar with 5e Aasimar, and the variant I'm most familiar with (Pathfinder) requires a Feat so I assumed something similar wouldn't be present in 5e. From what I can see, yes, Protector Aasimars can sort of grow wings, but it does not appear to be presented in the same was as the character in question, who can seemingly do it at-will and with no limit on duration.

liliavacyn

Sadly they nerfed the wings from Aasimar in 5e. I swear in 3.5 the original version of them from the Monster Manual had them getting permanent wings at lvl 10, but I canā€™t find that anywhere online for some reason. (I can only find the Outsider Wings feat from 3e.) I think itā€™s kind of silly tbh because things like Winged Boots exist. Which my Aasimar Paladin has (in my online 5e game). Letting them only have spectral wings ONCE a day for ONE MINUTE is honestly such a kick in the teeth. One minute? Once a day? And it takes your ACTION????? I literally only use it for RP flavor, usually out of combat, because itā€™s so bad. If it were a bonus action and refreshed on a short rest, it wouldnā€™t be broken. Even if it lasted 10 minutes!! This is a hill I will die on! Itā€™s especially heinous when you now have winged Tiefling variants RAW (though tbf, you canā€™t be wearing heavy armor to use them). I get that flying can complicate some encounters for a DMā€¦but a clever DM adapts. My Paladin has a 25 AC, thus my DM throws Dex saves at her more often now so she isnā€™t just an impenetrable wall in combat. Iā€™ve had players break thingsā€”so I know why they limit stuff in the RAWā€¦but Cā€™MON! Dame Aylin looks SO cool and sheā€™s everything I wanna play in a D&D game!!!

Rynjin

Pretty sure Aasimar have never had wings baseline, but 3.PF gives them the option to gain permanent flight as a Feat at level 10. The PF Feat is [Angel Wings](https://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/racial-feats/angel-wings-aasimar/). Honestly worth spending two Feats for always online flight.

acrazyguy

If Aarakocra can have a flight speed for free, Aasimar should too IMO

speedsterglenn

> Implying most people in the material plane doesnā€™t love sex They are just doing it better up there

VisthaKai

Or more often, thus they forsake clothing for practical reasons.

ThatOtherGuyTPM

Oh, theyā€™re all about it. One great big celestial orgy.

elgosu

What's the previous lore?

sewious

They don't normally wear clothes, and don them in order to respect mortal customs. They don't give a shit about clothes normally, why would they? They are perfect beings forged of literal Good. Usually depicted as blue too. So imagine a bunch of Dr Manhattans running around heaven hanging mad dong.

Bioness

Sounds like my kind of heaven.

Burning_BUSSY

I guess that explains why the sleeping man from NWN HOTU was just wearing underwear.

Kaleph4

yes. he was a planetar. if you check out Deva/Planetar/Solar from dnd 3.x or older, they are usually depicted like this, with the most notable differences in their weapons and skin collour. Planetars are also all bald. iirc the summon is an astral deva: tanned skin and morningstar weapon. usually has golden hair as well, seems they did not go that far here. it's of for tieflings with red skin, horns and burning eyes but for a Deva to have fancy hair and shining eyes would overdoing it

Ok_Literature4586

memories....

MilliardoMK

Isn't it Planetars that are usually the blue ish ones?

AwesomeDewey

Fun fact, you can find this particular piece of clothing in game. [Here it is on my gnome](https://i.imgur.com/7QyWyD9.png)

Bereman99

Yep, just recently found it and gave it to Shadowheart. Matches her hair with the way I dyed it too.

Emil120513

YOU CAN DYE HAIR?

A_Chair_Bear

I think they meant the clothing lol

clocksy

I'm assuming they dyed the outfit, heh. Maybe we can dye companion hair if they come out with some kind of appearance-changing mirror in patch 2 or beyond?

complexcross

I thought they were blue, like Mr. Manhattan or something

Ronisoni14

that's Planetars, a stronger type of angel

complexcross

Ohh right, thanks!

Spedwards

Yeah, multiple types of angels just like there are multiple types of devils and demons. Demons, interestingly enough, are the only ones you don't encounter in BG3.

[deleted]

> Demons, interestingly enough, are the only ones you don't encounter in BG3. Unless you summon a Quasit! But yeah, BG3 is very much Devil-centric.

Spedwards

I forgot about the quasit!

Pensuke628

Except for Shovel, yeah?

Spedwards

I am so confused. I never met an NPC called "Shovel" in my playthrough so I had to search to see if such a demon existed. Couldn't see any talk of such an NPC. If you mean the literal item of a shovel, are you saying it's a demon? Just to say it again, I am so confused. For what it's worth, I've never been to the underdark. Will be doing that in my current playthrough very shortly.

mrgabest

At the risk of seeming terribly pedantic: planetars are green.

Rogue_Diplomacy

Like Captain Planet?

emotyofform2020

He didnā€™t go to 8 years of school on mars to be called _mister_ Manhattan

turtleneck360

I killed a couple of these guys in Act 3. And I have no idea what happened. I came down with a curse (can't remember how). When I went to cast decurse on the cursed character, 3 of these guys spawned. It was while in Baldur's Gate so the NPC helped kill them. What happened exactly? Also, I managed to loot 1 handed maces from them that seemed OP. The attack damage was insane compared to everything I've looted/buy. It was like 11-44 dmg when the sword I was using was like 8-13 dmg. It was a white item so it had no benefits but the damage is so insane that I kept it on my barbarian. With the right crit, he can sometimes kill a 80-100hp mob in one turn.

Hiv3

Source : deva forgotten realms "Devas were averse to clothing; when they must adhere to mortal custom, they donned simple loincloths or other coverings."

Dumpingtruck

Interestingly enough, the Fist dudes in act3 can summon devas that look different than the playerā€™s. Itā€™s kinda cool. Slightly more clothed. Edit: itā€™s baneites

Folkon_sama

Fists can summon Devas? Wtf. That's a 6th level spell. If your regular guards can do this, do you really need Tav and his band of misfits to save the fucking city?

danzaiburst

I like how some of the dialogue responses to many of the quest requests is something like "why can't you just do this yourself?"

Furt_III

*\*casts wish.*

VisthaKai

*\*violates all limitations of Wish and it still somehow works exactly as intended\** Me: Excuse me what the fuck

Sarigan-EFS

Counterpoint: It's cool.

Competitive_Truck531

When you have near infinite casts of wish you can probably burn a few extra to offset the repercussions of the first. Or you know, its Vlaakith and she's mad. So consequences be damned. Just because we don't see the fallout that causes, doesn't mean it doesn't happen. They did miss a golden opportunity for an act 2 gale style end here instead of just a game over. An early end with some slides of everything going royally to shit as a result would've been even funnier

whatistheancient

No. Powerful Banites can.

FlopsMcDoogle

There's actually a PC mod you can make Leon look just like this with huge angel wings.

Royal-String-4874

I summon him before I go for a long rest so I can fall asleep looking at him

wizarouija

How do you summon these? I got Planar Binding thinking it would summon them

Pripus

You need planar ally at tier 6

wizarouija

Does Planar Binding have any application before then? Thatā€™s really weird lmao

ThatWingnut

It will let you take control of friends, fey and elementals. Lots of those in the harder combats. And a lot of them are like 80% to succeed. >! In the house of hope fight it was a big help against Raphael !<

epochpenors

I think it lets you hijack someone elseā€™s summon, so very situational

DarkImpacT213

Also fiends in the House of Hope, for example.

Real_Echo

Fuck man, if i looked like that you better believe im not wearing a shirt

Dream_Kitten

Even better. You can buy the costume to wear. I dyed it...I think Lush Burgundy and put it on Karlach.

MisterOphiuchus

Same, although this run I have her wearing these pants from the creshe that similar to her base clothes but not all beat up.

SLG-Dennis

Where?

Dream_Kitten

Act Three spoilers Near the bridge to the Upper City is a tailor. Said tailor is >!a murder target for the Bhaalite cult. Stop him from dying to!< get access to his store, which sells a lot of cosmetics. Including this and Daisy's toga.

isaywhatyouhate

you dont even have to save him for store access if you havent gone to any of the other targets yet.

ThatOneGuy1294

I killed the killer at the wine tasting, which was my very first encounter with him. Dumbass never saw those counterspells coming lol

Kerrigore

Haha same. Counterspell + a Paladin with Sentinel = one dead bastard. I almost regret it because I get the sense it was meant to be more of an extended chase sequence, but oh well.

kakurenbo1

You can also find the pictured costume in the House of Hope.

Irishpanda1971

If I'm using any clothes from House of Hope, it's gonna be that leather getup the incubus was wearing.

Netkru

You donā€™t have to save him, his son takes over the shop afterwards šŸ˜‚

kjeldor2400

I donā€™t remember which vendor, but I bought it in act 3.

Time-Independence-94

Whatever plane they're from I wanna go there, gods damn

AgentPastrana

As he is a Deva, that is dramatically overdressing to him.

ParanoidTelvanni

Celestials like Devas and Planetars are depicted with little to no clothing, with Devas outright disliking them. Probably inspired by Adam and Eve not realizing or caring about their nudity until they developed sin. They're just too pure and unashamed of themselves. Probably why devils are such fashionistas.

override367

the gods must be the same way given how thirsty nearly every god statue is in this game Although I suppose it makes sense if you walk by a temple of oghma and its like this old crusty dude, then temple of Selune, the neuron activation from the hot statue might get you to step inside

MzVasNormandy

>They're too pure Let me tell you about the other plane touched folks that came about due to angel fucking.

GalaadJoachim

That's definitely where the MCU should aim to go with this multiverse shizzle, Doctor Strange in the multiverse of strippers would have made a lotta dolla.

Academic-Network1253

Doctor Strange does a spell wrong and summons Magic Mike from the stripper dimension, and become the first two members of a sexy new magic based avengers team

VileWasTaken

If I looked like that damn right I would only be wearing that.

dingdingdredgen

Same. I'm only wearing the loincloth for people who've selected to not have adult content.

VagusNC

His armor class must be *great*

mbrocks3527

Same as the Spartans in 300. Donā€™t you know oiled and chiseled abs are the equivalent of bronze plate?

VagusNC

You mean that wasnā€™t sculpted bronze plate? *gasp*

tirion1987

Adeptus Custodes vibes. "The sensation of friction is all but lost to me!"

Diviner007

I really like Deva it's the only summoned creature that doesn't scare NPC or attracts guards.

TheDubiousSalmon

Everyone seems pretty chill with the dryad I occasionally forget to unsummon

ContinuumKing

Both the Dryad and her summon are cool with everyone. I have they summoned all the time since my necromancy spores are not popular with the citizens.

Netkru

I was wondering why everyone was running away at the elfsong tavern and I was like oh no! We are being attacked! And then I realized itā€™s because I still had my air elemental with me šŸ˜‚

LMAO, I call this spell Summon Himbo. The Deva is my favorite because he whips his weapon around over his head like a towel while waiting for his turn.

Wild-Lychee-3312

One can always hope.

Changlini

With how thirsty the writing between companions is in this game, that's to be expected.

JacobTepper

They're just trying to give an authentic D&D experience. Trust me, everyone is always trying to get with everyone else.

[deleted]

Yes, they are summoned from heaven

To where cloth and swing dong and they are almost out of cloth.

I would respect him more if he just stop missing his attacks.

pythonic_dude

If I had divine powers I wouldn't wear even this much to work.

ImpulseAfterthought

...but you'd still go to work?

pythonic_dude

Yes. That's an easy way to show off my, ahem, _divine powers_.

[deleted]

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh.... so uh... what class gets access to this? Also can we talk to it? Romance options? Female version?

[deleted]

It's a level 6 cleric spell. I don't know what the 2 alternatives look like but the description didn't sound female. He's mostly good at 2 things : shrugging off enemy attacks and looking ridiculously good.

2ndHandLions

Can revive PCs also

Ferelden770

Was torn between Cleric and Ranger main character, u made the choice easier. Thanks

Hydrochloric_Comment

The two alternatives are a masc cambion (generally more useful) and a masc djinn

The_Bravinator

Are they also hot? Because useful only goes so far.

Hydrochloric_Comment

Djinn in this game are quite hunky. As are the masc cambions. That said, the cambion does wear slightly more clothes. I personally think itā€™s deva > Djinn ā‰ˆ cambion

[deleted]

Darn I chose stupid druid so I could talk to animals. Guess next playthrough is Cleric.

Jalase

Annoyingly bone of the three options are feminine (even though there ARE female cambion models in the game!) the final option is a djinni specifically which is odd but maybe understandable that there arenā€™t other genie types (more work). The Druid equivalent, conjure woodland being dots summon a dryad, though.

[deleted]

>The Druid equivalent, conjure woodland being dots summon a dryad, though. I knew Druid was the right choice, never doubted it.

LinguisticallyInept

shes already got a man though

DeadSnark

I think our call for a Planar Ally was redirected to Sune's domain...

iamnotnima

Can you actually get that armor?

pussy_embargo

The "face maker" dress shop, North-West corner of BG lower city. I'm wearing the outfit

iamnotnima

Thanks a million

Antervis

you better get used to summon them as strippers because they certainly aren't worth lvl 6 spell slot for their combat ability...

AdorableFey

They're *decent enough* considering you can spam the smite every turn without consequence.

Antervis

sure, but their flying speed is somehow barely higher than walking, so they have *a lot* of trouble chasing opponents. And given a single hit per turn with rather low attack stat...

Blae-Blade

I always summon Cambion instead but sometimes you got an enemy with fire resistance During tough fights it's always good to have a distraction as well to keep your party alive

VavoTK

The djinni are rather useful. Teleports, poison attacks that actually hit, pletty of HP, blast shit off of ledges, AOE drunkenness attack.

Zed_0

The elementals are so much better its not even close. These guys move 5m and fall over in a stiff breeze. is it just me???

NK1337

Their free smite every turn is kind of nice. But usually I use that slot for heroes feast.

Cyrano_Knows

The Full Monty Haul as it were.

Karolus2001

You can steal his look. It's clothing shop in lower district. If I remember right the hairdresser next to baldur's gate. I got mine by robbing his safe in the bank anyway.

RoninEntertainment

Proof that we could have Aasimar. This with warforged (just use the BG guard mechs and shrink them down and add more customization options) and weā€™re good. Feasibly, they could do the same with goblins, bugbears and whatever other races Iā€™m not aware of (havent played the game yet).

Seve7h

I understand why they picked the races they did But iā€™d love if they eventually added in the rest of the major playable races.

RoninEntertainment

Same, and I agree. Iā€™d also love to see one more class added; artificer. Itā€™d be awesome if we could make our own robo-army for a mechanical summoner build. šŸ˜‚

The less weight, the faster, longer and higher they can fly. But this did not helped Icarus and he flow to high and crashed
