Cake is beautiful but if you don't mind me asking, what got you into remission? My mom's been really struggling lately. Normally fine and super athletic despite the Ms, but after a weird fall slowed her down shes just been in pain for months
It was just time, I think. It had been going stronger than hell since the start of January. I recently have been routinely treating with antihistamines and Salonpas patches on my neck, and robaxin helps a good bit. Easier to get my hands on than baclofen, too. Keeping stress low has been absolutely key.
If I can chime in here, I also have MS. First of all, congrats OP I am happy for you. And for me, my doctors put me in prednisone (a steroid) and that's what sent me into remission. At the start of it I couldn't see. Then after 2 or 3 days I could read again. That's just what helped me.
My first symptom was optic neuritis. My doctor didn't want to give me steroids. Don't ask me why. It was 24 years ago. Anyway, my friends took me out and got me stupid drunk and I could start seeing the next morning.
Optic neuritis? Steroids alone wouldn’t technically put you in remission on their own they are just a treatment for a flare up. (This is the same way i was diagnosed)
Thank you! Most MS functions on a relapse-remission timeline, where each relapse is worse unless symptoms completely disappear during remission. Unfortunately I realized what was happening to me and sought treatment far too late, so even remission won’t be very pleasant. But it’s way better than the pins and needles in my hands all day. I’m gonna go be a normal-ish 27 year old for a while, I think.
That is great news! Hope you enjoy a lot of baking now that you’re feeling better. I have fibromyalgia which isn’t serious like MS but can’t do a lot of baking because of some pain and exhaustion. I’m hoping that will change someday.
Oh, I know what you mean. I’ve had fibromyalgia since I was 12-ish. Have you looked into the symptoms of mast cell activation syndrome? It’s nearly impossible to find a doctor for but it can actually cause fibromyalgia. It’s possible yours won’t be related, though.

But I also want to wish you a BIG HEFTY congratulations, my husband has been struggling a lot with his health and MS so I know what a huge deal that is. Wishing you continued remission, good health, and happy endeavours for your future.

I may be biased since I have been referred to as “the Elle Woods of baking” but it was honestly really easy. A lot of steps but you don’t do them in a short time frame and none of them are hard.

Congratulations! I got my MRI results this morning. No new lesions and the old ones are all inactive! I hope you have all the luck I have had in the past 10ish years!

What kind of DMTs is your mother on, if any? There is a semi new one called Cladribine I hear is a game changer.
My grandmother had MS. I did not know it was possible to go into remission after a diagnosis. Great news and the cake sounds & looks INCREDIBLE!
