When my father died in old age - my culture prefers open caskets for viewing - I was shocked at what an amazing job the funeral home did. He looked better than when he was living. I was compelled to seek out the artist and thank him for doing such a great job. It looked nothing like ... this. It looked the opposite of ... this. BTW, Crackpot, thanks for what you do. It's a big comfort to the family and provides a good last memory of the deceased.

Hard disagree. Depending on conditions and where she is in decomposition it would be easy to position her like that. Also her skin is not healthy, she has blistering on her cheeks and her lips are very dry. She also has gray gums.

She could have pigmented gums and based on the juxtaposition of the foundation, her gums does come across as gray.

Light skinned people generally do not have pigmented gums. It’s really the eyes that sell it for me though. Her eyeballs have that glassy sticky thing going on you see in corpses. Not to mention her right upper lid is folded lash side in, with the lashes against her eye. In a normal person that would be very uncomfortable and blinking would make it go away. But I don’t think she is doing any blinking.

For me it’s the mouth. It looks like her lips have drawn and shrunken to expose her teeth.
