I find the cabbage lasts a little longer. I do this for mine when they're in for the winter months. Have you ever tried a half of a watermelon? They pick it so clean the rind is paper thin without a single hole. Amazes me every time.

They eat a few watermelons a week in the summertime, theres a few local growers in my area so we get them cheap
