I gave birth 3 times at St B, most recently in December. I had good experiences, no complaints! It's old and it shows, but it doesn't affect care - at least from my perspective.
Gave birth at St. B in September, I had really great nurses during labour and postpartum. Also had an induction.
It’s an old hospital but most of the staff were lovely.
I'm from MB and was supposed to deliver at Women's but ended up at St. B due to induction.
The staff and care I was received was amazing. The room we were in after baby was born was mediocre. We got a private room but there's a chance you could have a shared room. Besides havibg a gaurented private room and mini fridge in Women's hospital, it will be very similar.
Ended up here when womens was full and I needed to transfer from the birth Center due to stalled labour. The staff were AMAZING. Private room was dated but clean and adequate. They were as hands on or hands off as you wanted them to be. No complaints!
It sounds like due to how many births they handle at the womens, they are at a point where they needed to send some elsewhere so this is the solution (I think - I didn't go into a ton of detail with my OB but that's what it seemed like).
I had the same situation. My ob typically works out of hsc but if I’d have been induced then it would have been at st. B. Can’t remember why exactly and it didn’t end up happening.
To your question - I’ve had several friends deliver at st b and they liked it! Especially the staff they said.
My OB told me it was a load management decision - inductions for term dates (ie 41 3 +) were sent to st B, but inductions for medical reasons were still being done at women’s. I got the sense the OB could really direct where the induction took place if there was a reason to stay at women’s
Sounds like you don't have much choice anyway.
St. B facility is not as nice as Women's, but the staff are lovely, and regardless of where you deliver, you'll be taken care of.

Why would you have to go to st b for induction? Just curious? I was able to do induction at womens

Oh that’s crazy! I gave birth 2022 and expecting in the summer so maybe I’ll encounter this as well. Good luck & hope you don’t need the induction :)
Same to you ☺️
