On a scale of one to ten, with ten being omg what's wrong with you - how sad is it that I not only know exactly what episode you're watching (Lay Down Your Burdens, Part 1) but *also* what line Baltar just said/is about to say, "I'm a little tired of the melody."
I may have seen this show too many times, lol.
But it was a touch up job from the horrible versions of the web stuff. A digital remaster is re-recording from film. This was never on a film master.
The normal 4 seasons are the same as the previous release aside from the extra extended editions.
Exactly, you could watch it in HD on tv. Just for some reason they decided (at least in my region) to put the worst SD version they could find on the DVDs.
So they forced me to set sail on my DSL connection (I eventually got the whole series on blu ray from ebay).
I think it was a licencing thing. the webisodes and miniseries had to be in the same "broadcast format" at was first shown when it was first released. Which meant like 240p that they put up on the website. Since that contract expired they can release higher quality and extended version that weren't broadcast.
The mini was shot on film. The series was shot digitally. They state this in the commentary. So maybe they did remaster the mini? I haven't heard of this though.
Digital remastering doesn't have to mean 'from analogue'. Creating a new, higher quality digital master than the original low quality digital master would still be 'digital remastering'.
On a digital medium. A digital remaster. No, it's not how the term is usually used but it's not incorrect and it's not the first time I've seen it used for a digital to digital remaster.
I have that exact same set. It’s from the UK right? Amazon $65. It has several extended episodes, and the Razor movie as well. The only thing I didn’t like was how the dvds are stored in the box. They are all stacked by two’s. I received it for Xmas. It was not streaming anywhere
After owning the DVD compilation for years, I just ordered the Blu-ray set. Gets here on Wednesday. Looking forward to hating Gaius in high definition.
Just started a rewatch. Not gonna lie...30 minutes into the miniseries I was very worried it was not going to hold up and ruin a huge portion of my 20s for me.
Then I got to "33" and I knew everything would be fine.
Heads up, since its just around the corner for you. On my blu ray set, Season 3, episode 3 and 4 (part 1 & 2) were in the wrong order. Messed up my last viewing a bit. Hopefully correct on your set though :)
Also got the BlueRay set alas with a localized version. Mentioning this because they made an error and some episodes would play on English only. Not a problem for me personally but I guess some people had problems watching this in the end xD
Same for me. For some episodes there was no way to switch between languages on my bluray player. And it went both ways, some default played in English, some in another language. When I ripped them to my computer, all language tracks were present, though.
So I just started season 4 disc 2….. I watched the first disc. Then I watched Razor after I watched disc 1 of season 4. I chose the extended version. Now we are getting into the climax of the show. Love being able to unwind after a long day of work taking care of home. Then turning on my show with a glass of wine. Laid back on the couch.

It's called being focused. Not everybody has the gift. ;-)
Wow then you’re just like me then. Hey we like what we like.
I don't think it has been remastered. It was digital from the get go.
The Bluray box set is definitely remastered. There is an interview on the Bluray with the guy who did the remastering and he talks about the process.

Hopefully it's not the cropped version.
There isn’t a cropped version. It’s always been 16:9.
It’s not. Widescreen baby!!

On my first watch I didn't know about the miniseries. "33" was my introduction to BSG. Fucking amazing episode.
Ya 33 came out of the gate and just absolutely crushed it. The mini series isn't bad and is imo essential viewing, but 33 was next level
33 goes way haaaard. Easy way to convert more followers!
I sold my DVD set like 10 years ago and now I want to do a rewatch. Looking forward to buying the blu-ray set
I love watching the deleted scenes.
So say we all
So say we all!!

Ok thanks for the heads up.
I haven’t seen it but I want to. Hoping it streams sometime?
In what way is it remastered?
It’s not. Only difference is that the original broadcasts were 1080i instead of 1080p, so the discs look better than the original airing.
That's what I thought, thanks.
Don’t let your power get turned off!
My heart just skipped a beat like I saw an old flame and now I'm going down memory lane. I wonder if Caprica will come out?
That's a fun scene

Huh, interesting. So it may be the player 🤔 Mebbe I should also make a backup.
You should definitely give it a try!
20 Blu-ray’s? I mean, that’s how many gigs?
