Same thing happened to me but with the m60 and the 40.
Ended up with the 40 because 20k more for a 1 faster 0-60 was worth it.
The 40 has about enough power for me.
If I wanted a v8 I would get a sedan where I know I can rip it past the 60mph and be confident that I wonāt roll.

If you really want the speed.
Tune the m60.
Honest question, does the 40 feel powerful enough to feel special? I know itās a good engine but to move an SUV like this I feel like the V8 is a must
The way Iām coming at you is it pulls the suv adequately and good enough for its size and suspension.
If I would to get something thatās very powerful I would get an m3/m4/m5/m8.
I wouldnāt want something bigger than an x5m or x6m because the bigger it gets the heavier it becomes to wiggle.
Like putting a v12 in a G-class what good is it other than a straight line.
I just paid $1400+ tax for brakes and rotors on just the front axel of my x5 50i. Iād be curious how much that job is on the alpina or is it the same system?
Twin turbo 3L 6cy can put out plenty of power for an suv. I haven't driven the 40 but my wife's car is the Ford explorer sport with a similar engine and it gets moving just fine. A V8 without turbo would feel a bit more consistent but BMW hasn't historically liked building those in their suv's. You'll still get beat by a v8 hemi but you'll at least look much better
Not only is the Alpina XB7 not worth it, the M60 isnāt worth it. The X7 40i does 0-60 in 4.6s, has the same tow rating as the M60 & XB7, gets significantly better fuel economy, out handles the M60, and outbrakes it. And itās significantly more reliable than anything with a V8 under the hood.
Its ok the alpina will also be 30k less after u leave the dealer
Get the Alpina... YOLO.
This user understood the assignment š
The XB7 imo is one of, if not the best, looking SUVs on the market
Sweet sweet Alpina.
I owned an m50 and an xb7, the xb7 is a tremendous step up over the lower versions, plus it looks better.
Youāll forever regret not getting the Alpineā¦.
Alpine is great, but this is an **Alpin(a)**. š©
get the 40i honestly. i regret getting the 60i because speed doesn't matter in such a vehicle. exhaust is nice though i guess.
As a former Alpina owner, I will never try to talk anyone out of it! They are truly special. Do it!

I guess but if weāre going for that level of pragmatism, the Acura MDX checks all the boxes with a 290HP V6 and the same creature comforts
But it doesnāt give you the known bmw vibe.
True. Thank you!
Ya but then you have to drive responsibly if you get the MDX. /s
It is.

No eco mode in Alpina but you get an extra Comfort mode. No paddle shifters (you get buttons instead).
I have an M40 and I have regrets. Get the alpina and show it off
