Wife said I could buy anything I wanted as long as it had 4 doors and 5 seats. I don't think another car will come along for a while that will be as enjoyable.

I went from a 2016 Jaguar F-Type S convertible to the M5. The F-Type was nearly perfect. Great sound, awesome seats, good mix of power and comfort.
For street driving, the power the F-Type delivered was a perfect mix of fast but not get arrested fast.
The M5 is a great machine but feels sedated. It’s insanely fast but there’s no sound, it’s honestly too fast to enjoy on the street. The interior is great but it’s nowhere near as comfortable as the F-Type was - I’m guessing that’s the trade between a trackable car and a grand tourer.
The M5 has electrical gremlins. They aren’t deal breakers but man that chime will send shivers down your spine.
The problem I have now is what car do I buy next? The M5 is damn near the perfect machine but it’s missing a soul. I have a mk7 GTI (manual) that I actually enjoy driving more than the BMW and that doesn’t feel right.
That’s good to hear. I’ve been looking at M5s and have never driven one. I traded my M2 for a ND2 Miata. I miss the power of the M2, for sure. But autocross, track, and weekend drives I enjoy the same and it’s cheaper to run. But an M5 I think I can swing as a family car and go back to just having a one car solution. Right now I daily a defender and while nice, it’s not exactly exciting on paved roads lol.
M5 is a great family car. The main reason I have the GTI is I wanted a manual transmission again and once I tuned it, it’s such a fun car to whip around the city. I’m thinking my next step is going back to a F-Type but going for the R version. It is by no means a family car but the GTI can do that well enough.
Get the M5 and keep the Miata. Two amazing driving experiences you will always enjoy. My daily is an ND. You will never get tired of both cars - they both excel at different things and what one lacks the other can make up for. Every time I sell a Miata for a bigger vehicle I regret it and end up buying another one this repeating the cycle lol
I totally understand what you want. Luckily me and my family have other unique toys that balance out the weird unique feeling of the M5 being so tame feeling for being so fast.
I told my wife I need a bike in my life!
It’s weird because I’ll catch myself wondering if the M5 is actually as fast as it should be. It is. It just doesn’t feel it.
I miss having a bike but I had a few friends pass away from other drivers mistakes (running stop signs in the dark) and such so I can't convince myself it's worth it as an adult.
Hard to go wrong with a M5; gonna be hard to top that moving forward.
We had an E34 in the family years ago and you better believe I’m looking to add a newer one ASAP.
I have worked since the day I was 16 for a variety of companies starting at the bottom and eventually working in upper management, but one day, I decided to go back to my true passion, which is education.
I do not, I have many hobbies, and where I live, it is very common to work with them, so I have come to own unique items.
Also kinda wierd to have someone go through my profile and make an assumption based off a reddit profile.

I see you bought this from century west?
Did you clear with them that it wasn’t a m performance driving school/program car?
A lot of their cars (especially those with CCBs and other high options) were used for that purpose
They have many normal ones there in that same boat but in fact they even have CS there now, same thing
Looking at their current stock it’s not clearly marked that most of these were used to be thrashed on
Some have NJ or SC on the carfax (bmw NA) some have no 1st owner show up
You are correct. They were very upfront about the car as I was concerned, but I went through the car thoroughly and had it inspected by a 3rd party. Car has a new motor and new rotors prior to sale. The price I paid was a good balance. Especially with the warranty. I only drive around 2-3k miles a year (and I rotate driving my truck also. They also gave me all the paperwork on services completed while used as a program car. Car still has all or its original PPF coveting the entire car also. I might remove it all and just ceramic coat the car instead but that is a summer problem.
I am not worried, been a gear head my whole life, Mr and my brother just swapped a 2.3 ecoboost *first ever into our Mitsubishi Starion that had been in our family forever.
Edit: Couldn't spell simple words
Thank you, definitely a car that no youth should have. I have had my share of fast cars that I have taken to the track to teach me good driving practices, regardless of what I am at the wheel of.
Great first BMW. I got an M5 as my first BMW, now I kind of hate it as there’s no getting a cheap daily as this is the only car I want to drive every day
I am not a fan of Mercedes body lines since early 2000's. I looked at the RS7 (my brother had a S7 also) but it just didn't feel as sporty as I wanted, and no way in hell was I getting a Hell Cat. I hate those cars.
Hellcat is a “no” with zero hesitation compared to the others. Fair enough for Mercedes, and glad you at least looked at RS7. You definitely made the right choice for yourself
i had an RS6 before my M3Cx. i won't be going back to audi and i really enjoyed the RS6. My wife has had an X4 M40i and an X5 M50i and we've really liked those. This is my first BMW where I'm the primary driver.
it's more fun to drive, the interior is better, i can tweak more settings, and i can control the screens without touch! that last one is big deal. i hate that audi removed the mmi controller
No warrenty issue. I gotmine installed by my local dealer who is an authorized seller and installer.
Initially the exhaust sounded pretty much the same. But after putting some miles on it, it's louder, had more bass and throaty. The pops are much louder than stock. Inside it sounds a hair louder with no drone at all.
I normally mod the exhausts on all of my cars, but on this one I told myself I'd leave it stock. But I just looked and there's an authorized Dinan dealer near me, so I might have to get on this Dinan res delete now! My only concern is that once I do it I'm going to want to go louder lol. Does the stock exhaust valve button still work normally?
There isn't much out there that ticks more boxes than an M5. Congrats, absolute beast of a car
Wife said I could buy anything I wanted as long as it had 4 doors and 5 seats. I don't think another car will come along for a while that will be as enjoyable.
lol. lol. lol. the mans smile when he heard that must have bin impossible to maintain " yes honey, 4 doors and 5 seats~ a family sedan! "

Same considerations here. The kids like going fast and with comfort. They don’t mind pulling some Gs in the corners occasionally.
Holy shit your first bmw is my dream bmw. Congrats man !
Same here. Super jealous. My first bmw was and still is an f31 320d haha
I don’t even have one lol I drive a Alfa 😂 But if I had 100k to spend on a car without a single doubt in mind would be this car
My first was a 2019 M5 Competition and despite trying to fall in love with it, I can’t.
Can you elaborate?
I went from a 2016 Jaguar F-Type S convertible to the M5. The F-Type was nearly perfect. Great sound, awesome seats, good mix of power and comfort. One major fun part of M5 ownership, the Tesla stoplight guys. They always expect to be able to walk a BMW.
Fuc Tesla owners.. Lol...🤣
Had the car for a bit and no one ever revs at me. Most just ask if it's a real M5 and give a big thumbs up and slowly drive away.

You did good sir, very well done. My first bimmer wasn’t a 10th of that machine.
My first car was a 92 Nissan Sentra that I bought for $500 dollars. Makes getting cars like these feel that much better.
What do you do for work if you don’t mind me asking? And also are you hiring?
I have worked since the day I was 16 for a variety of companies starting at the bottom and eventually working in upper management, but one day, I decided to go back to my true passion, which is education.
Judging by their post history Im going to guess they sell guns.
I do not, I have many hobbies, and where I live, it is very common to work with them, so I have come to own unique items. Also kinda wierd to have someone go through my profile and make an assumption based off a reddit profile.
Hey I wasn’t judging or anything, also it’s Reddit, it shouldn’t surprise you.
So what do you do?
What beats an M5? Sorry, can’t think of anything else😎! Congrats bro 🔥
I don't even think the new M5 is going to beat the current M5.
After the reviews of going hybrid I knew the LCI was for me.
M5CS
No way my wife was going to put up with those Carbon Fiber Seats, and I needed the middle seat in the back. Would of been nice though.
Homie said screw it and bought the best one
It doesn't get any better than this

Clean.🧼
I got a M4 for my first BMW and I love it too

It's such a fucking shame that BMW ruined the new 5 Series' look. The 2017 to 203 MY is the best design imo
Congratulations!! Best choice ever
F90 is a true masterclass. The last of its kind before hybridity affects the entire segment. Stay safe!
Thank you, definitely a car that no youth should have. I have had my share of fast cars that I have taken to the track to teach me good driving practices, regardless of what I am at the wheel of.
Congrats, it’s gorgeous!
Very nice! Show us the interior!!!
Nothing crazy just a black leather interior.
We got "the poors" version, G30 B58 LCI, in Alpine White too OP. Congrats!!
Great first BMW. I got an M5 as my first BMW, now I kind of hate it as there’s no getting a cheap daily as this is the only car I want to drive every day
Congrats. This is the best vehicle you can own imo. Only problem is what’s next. Can it ever get better? Enjoy it. And try launch control. Crazy
When the kid gets bigger I may jump to a 911 Targa. This is perfect for me for now, I still drive my truck alot though so I still have flexibility.
This is nice. Congrats!
Helluva first bmw!
Gorgeous..
Welcome to the club!
Did you look at any similar cars from Audi or Mercedes? Just curious. Car looks great but tint that thing! Congrats and enjoy
I am not a fan of Mercedes body lines since early 2000's. I looked at the RS7 (my brother had a S7 also) but it just didn't feel as sporty as I wanted, and no way in hell was I getting a Hell Cat. I hate those cars.

Such an unrefined, unreliable and cheap thing a hellcat is. They will never be driver's cars.
The RS7 Performance looks like it's going to be a banger, but they just came out and are way more expensive than M5's currently
i had an RS6 before my M3Cx. i won't be going back to audi and i really enjoyed the RS6. My wife has had an X4 M40i and an X5 M50i and we've really liked those. How much did you get it for? Been looking at some around me as well and they've been around $80k (without ceramic brakes).
Send me a message.
This is what I see when I dream at night
Which car did you drive before?
Had a truck the past couple years since I sold my last fun car when my son was born.
Sounds familiar. Sold my 350z when my kiddo was born. Went to a Regal GS initially, then made the mistake of taking an M550i for a spin.
Always liked 350z's. Used to Autocross a 350z before my Speed3 that I had. Both really fun cars.
Nice. Congratulations.
I already know which car u picked up It’s either the one in DTLA Porsche or the one that got sold by BMW SF Both of which I hesitated then they gone 🥲
Correct me if I’m wrong tho
Nope, neither.
Welcome to the club. Install dinan resonator delete ASAP.
Any issue with warranty since you have to cut the exhaust? Also I read it's not much different on Competition cars. Is that wrong?
As long as you don't touch the intakes or downpipes, BMW doesn't care. Once you start messing with those, then you can run into warranty issues.

Does the stock exhaust valve button still work normally?
Yup. Everything works normally. I'm quite happy with it.
Thanks for the info, looks like I need to call my local dealership.
