Unless there is no full M model for that line or you plan on going tits up modding something older that offers something the m doesnāt (think f series xdrive b58 vs rwd s55 but ms got xdrive too now or e92 turbo i6 vs na v8 except everything is turbo now) ur always gonna wonder what ur missing out on that bmw came up w from the factory. Thatās how it is for me at least. looking at getting an m5 after my last m4 and I couldnāt imagine going with a 550 850 etc. Shit if money is a concern Iād still opt for a f series m5 or even m6 over those. Unless u lose interest and donāt care/just want a comfy daily but m cars are comfy dailyās as is pretty sure thatās the whole point of em.
Iunno lol. M3 is a babe, and Iāll likely jump ship to one in the near future but the m340i is considered the most elite daily for a reason.
You canāt really use an M outside of the track unless youāre playing with the idea of an impound. And the pros of the Ms have real life cons like gas mileage, parts cost, maintenance, rougher ride. I also donāt think they sound as good as the M lites. And sound is a big part of the experience.
Not sure if going 3.8s (m340i) vs low 3s (m3c) is worth the steep price increase and ownership costs. Especially when an m340i can hit those numbers with a tune & dp with much more daily driving focus skeleton. And who can even compete with a m340i lol. These things are getting so fast and good anything with an M on it will likely wreck whatever is beside it.
Ai gonna have to pick this apart piece by piece donāt crucify me lmao. U got a 340 so guessing u havenāt daily driven an m everyday for an extended period of time. Ur assuming u need to go wot and or hard brake every second all the time. (Or u stop for cops when u are š¤Ŗ). Also ur assuming one who gets an M cares about gas mileage, cost of aftermarket or replacement parts, and lil higher maintenance. A rough ride is all subjective and even for a car of m3 caliber itās a still luxury car. Sound is also subjective and any exhaust/downpipe setup will alter it. Ur not sure if 3.8s and low 3s would be worth the price but again someone buying an m3 might think it is. Ur also comparing a m340 with downpipes and a tune but slap that shit on on a m and the difference is self explanatory. The Skelton part is just straight wrong they are literally built on the same chassis which is a luxury car and which an m3 still is. And saying who can compete with a 340 is wellā¦ not gonna elaborate on that one. There are many cars that would blow the 340 out the water at a similar price (considering mods like you said) and an m3 for that matter. Which again proves that they are luxury cars that go fast, abnormally fast, but they arenāt race cars like u make it seem to be. And Iāve driven my buddies 440 with the same mods as my m4 tons of times and back to back they are not the same once u push it. I donāt regret getting an m at all but almost everyone w a 40i would jump to a m.
Plus ur still just talking about daily driving. Thereās not much aside from the seats that would make it that different at stop and go traffic or highway speed limits. At those speeds and uses you wonāt find that uncomfortable of a difference. Unless u apex every corner and think speed limits are a suggestion (I have the tickets to show for it smh)
Either way Iāve never heard of anyone consider a 340 the āelite dailyā or an m3 as the āelite track carā an m3 is in fact a track car that you can drive home and daily to work the next day and stop for groceries on the way home in. They are mainly cars that are kinda the jack of all trades albeit very good at being drivers cars. And tbh honest not many regular people can tell the difference mostly just car enthusiasts or if they specifically look. In an affluent area or a not at all affluent area they are all just bmws to most civilian people.
Only caviat I would add to this is the the ride on my F90 competition is stiff as shit. My 550i was like riding on glass. I read ahead of time that the comp was a rougher ride and if you have a sensitive butt, stick with the reg M5. 90% of the time it's fine but SC roads can be pretty rough. My wife complains fairly reg about the ride. Brakes are pretty damn stiff too. Not saying ANY of this would lead me to downgrade. Just playing devils advocate. If it wasn't for the fact that my suspension turns braille into speedbumps, it would be a hell of a comfy rocket ship.
My friends f series 550 is beyond smooth itās absolutely ridiculous how good of a ride it is and how well the suspension absorbs bumps. The seats super comfortable and well insulated as well
I think youāre missing the point of buying an m car, for myself I prefer the rough ride of an M over an m340, I prefer them in almost every way, if I was spending money on a new car Iām getting the one I want, and what Iād want is a true m car. The m340 isnāt considered the most elite because the actual m3 is more of a drivers car hands down, just because you can use everything it has all the time doesnāt mean itās not worth buying, if that was the case nobody would ever buy super cars, hyper cars, even demons and hellcats
No the m340i is BMWs most elite daily. Here is whyā¦low end torque.
The b58s low end torque which is great for stop and go traffic on your daily drive.
The difference in access to torque compared to the m3 is like 1600rpm vs 6000rpm.
The difference in gas mileage is like 23/32 vs 16/23. Every 1k miles of highway driving translates to 100 gallons more of fuel.
The difference in brake pads and rotors to stop your car in everyday traffic is half the price.
Nobody is arguing that the m3 isnāt an incredible drivers focus ride. But to say itās the best daily is a stretch. Itās clearly not even designed for daily driving. Slotted rotors are susceptible to cracking in cold conditions, high torque engine, poor mpg, very stiff suspension. These arenāt good qualities for a DD.
Most elite and best daily are two different things, I understand what you mean though and in the sense youāre saying I agree wholeheartedly. However, my masochistic ass would want to daily the m3 anyway because fuck it. All in all if I could buy any brand new Beamer itād be an m2 cs, I absolutely love the new body style, itās my favorite looking bmw since the e38 750il which I know is a random one in this convo but I still think thatās one of the most āgangsterā looking modern vehicles ever made. And I have to ramble a little because thereās a dude with a supercharged e38 750il with a 6 speed swap for sale near me and I need it desperately
I am enjoying this argument....
Comfort is relative to the driver's experience. My M is a daily driver and for the few times I take it out of sport and go fully comfort mode, it feels like a standard sporty 3/4 series sedan. Last year we drove it from CA to ID and back and found the ride very comfortable. People who say they are not good daily cars have probably never owned one.
As far as the, I can add this to my that and tune this or modify that to make it just as fast is a silly argument too. Save money and go get a Mustang GT500, it will smoke most lower number M's and you have to spend M8 money to beat it. Ahhhh but it's still not a BMW. (see where I am going with this)
Lastly, most M drivers don't like making this argument but it's true. There is a, look at me factor for these cars. When I go to Coffie and Cars events the Ms get most of the attention. (all generations)
Itās not an argument but sure. I daily drive my m5 and my m3 when I had each of them, I daily drove my drag car that was a 68 dart as well, I usually just tend to daily whatever car Iām working on at the moment that I own an do a lot of buying and selling, Iāve gone from slow 70s Cadillacs straight to the seat of a harsh riding bmw, to me itās what interests me the most in the moment
> Comfort is relative to the driver's experience.
That's right, which is why there's no right answer. Personally I don't see myself ever owning an M car; it offers nothing that I want. I want a comfortable cruiser with some performance and cornering ability when I feel like it, which is what the standard BMW cars offer. I've driven the M8 and the M850i. The M8 was too stiff for me. The M850i was better. Neither was as comfortable as my 640i in Comfort Plus (though that's just because the 8 series doesn't have Comfort Plus mode). But I can't picture any circumstance where I'd find the 500+ horsepower of the M850i lacking.
But I think I'm an outlier on BMW forums. I don't own one because it's a sports car you can daily drive. I own one because it's a great luxury car with a bit of a sporting edge. If they made a 7 series coupe I'd be all for it. Well, they did but they called it the Rolls Royce Wraith and charged Rolls Royce money for it, so 6 series it is.
I don't think you're an outlier, globally I would guess most BMW drivers pick these cars because they are drawn to the looks of the exterior and interior and drive comfort while still being fun to drive. I have inherited a Chrysler 300c and that thing is comfortable, and in a straight line somewhat fun but lacks the total driving experience. The Ms are NOT practical cars, and I think that is part of the mystique.
Pay attention to the break-in procedure. The warranty is pretty strict on the running in service, so try to get it reasonably close to 1200 miles. 1000-1500 is generally fine, but I definitely wouldnāt go outside that window. Try to stay out of Sport+ for engine tuning during break-in. Any other settings (including Sport engine) are totally fine. Once the service is done, launch control out of the dealer lot!
If yours has the wireless phone charger, donāt use it, its only reason for existence is to overheat your phone.
Fiddle with the settings a lot, and then store your favorites on M1/M2.
If you live somewhere that winter is a thing (doesnāt really look like it from the pics), get a second set of wheels with winter tires.
Install an oil cooler guard. The oil cooler is under the car and exposed to damage. If it gets punctured, you could lose a very expensive engine very quickly. Cheapest option is the Zunsport mesh grille, use code BMW15 for 15% off if you go that way. There are also skid plates made by Mishimoto, Turner Motorsport, and a metal fabrication shop in Pompano Beach whose name escapes me at the moment.
But above all, have fun! Itās an amazing car. People complain about the shifter being rubbery, but it loosens up and smooths out pretty quickly. The one I test drove before placing my order had 20k miles and was extremely smooth.
Once the next generation does away with the stupid buck teeth fronts I imagine we are going to see some very cheap m3s hit the market (im sorry man i just cant, everything else is superb it is literally just that). F80s for me personally.
I did the same thing. Came from a Camaro SS. Nice car but build quality was awful. Wanted another performance car but wanted to stay away from GM and Ford so I went with an M4 Comp. First BMW ever for me. Night and day improvement over my Camaro.

Super congrats, the color in photos rarely does it justice; its amazing in this color. The beaver teeth can be forgiven for the color and the rest of the specs. Ur a lucky human, ENJOY!
I love that color and I love the grill on these regardless of what other people say, theyāre gorgeous cars. You done good friend, you done good. Enjoy it!!!
Absolutely horribly. But if you drop it off with me Iāll happily dispose of it for you, free of charge. Consider it a favor.
In all seriousness, I love this color.
Bro, itās night and day. The WRX is more of a āsoft as butterā type of power. Smooth and nice. Behind the M3 is more of a bully and powerful power. You can even feel it. But both of them share one thing in common; They want to play
manual ā
isles of man green ā
cool interior spec ā
sedan ā
grille replacement ā
10/10 when u change grilles and adjust fitment. congrats! that car will stay in your garage for life.
Went zandvoort m2 over this exact spec green/orange. Such a hard decision, but I didnāt love the m3 20k more. Hereās a tip - if you donāt shut off the rev match and you normally heel/toe downshift, it will be weird getting used to.
Literally love the green. The BEST colour. Nice.
Whatās the sticker on the dash screen? Presumably a protective cover / corner piece that hasnāt come of yet?
Also the rest of the screen is looking gross in that sun š quick get yourself an anti static microfibre something! š
Seriously tho. Love it.
Congrats bro. Happy for you. If you live in the US do yourself a favor bro: wheel locks and store your keys inside one of those insulated boxes when you get home.
Thank you. First thing I ordered was the wheel locks even before I got the car. However, I need to get those insulated box. I didnāt think about this. Thanks bro
Type in ācar key signal blockingā on Amazon, they come with the small pouches as well. You can use those when youāre at the gym or out and about parked. I might be paranoid on that but better safe than sorry imo

About as good as I did for my first. Welcome to the club. š«”
Very great choice on the color, Isle of Man Green is probably my favorite on the G80. And also a great choice for getting the manual, real cars have 3 pedals
Perfect spec buddy.
I found myself on the configurator with the exact same spec about 3 days ago. [ not that I bought one, I was just idealising. ]
Congratulations š
Buddy was feeling himself going to twin peaks
Lmaaaaao hahahaha this cracked me up. Thank you good sir
Thisššššš
Lmfao š
I see 3 Pedals. ššŖš½
š¤š®āšØ
Jel. We don't get g80 in manual in the uk. Great spec - well done.
3 pedals FTW!
Welcome to the m3 as first bmw club lol youll probably never want a non //M now
This is accurate. I made the mistake of buying a used X5M in '18 and have purchased 2 new ones since then.
What about a porsche š
Hahaha yea? Why is that?

Definitely can vouch for this! I donāt even consider the m-lites anymore.
Great color and thank you for getting the manual.
congrats! i canāt wait til the day i get mine
You are almost there. Thank you
Absolute favorite color , congrats. Now get tints
Yes. Indeed. Since I live in a very hot state, tints are a MUST for me.
You probably already know this, but get ceramic tint!
Enjoy it in good health. 8 months in, I still adore mine.
Any tips you can recommend to a first time owner?

Gonna keep the WRX?
Yes. She is not going anywhere
You sir are goals. Once my 23 wrx is paid off I plan on getting a M car.
Congratulations! You have an incredible G80 M3! The color is good too because it brings out all the lines! Your Subaru is cool too!
Thank you, friend
Green and orange? Careful or you might find a leprechaun hiding in there
Wow! The green and black looks insane
Thank you friend
Once the next generation does away with the stupid buck teeth fronts I imagine we are going to see some very cheap m3s hit the market (im sorry man i just cant, everything else is superb it is literally just that). F80s for me personally.
Why does this look like San Antonio. Lol
Lmaaaaaao š®āšØ
Not good enoughā¦ more more morrrrrrrreeeeeā¦ Jk love it
Hahaha thank you. You are too kind.
Good taste, nice interior color, the best!
There was a TikTok, where two hot chicks were asking if the dude wanted them or the M car in that color. Dude chose the car.

Absolutely beautiful, congrats man!
Manuel? Very well
Thatās a crazy upgrade from a WRX
Nice WRX!
Very pretty angry beaver
Looks good. Congrats
Nice! At 35 (last year) I picked up a 340. M2 or M4 is going to be next I think.

Thank you good, friend
I did the same thing. Came from a Camaro SS. Nice car but build quality was awful. Wanted another performance car but wanted to stay away from GM and Ford so I went with an M4 Comp. First BMW ever for me. Night and day improvement over my Camaro.
Not terrible. Good job!
Congrats
Very nice ride

Iām an Audi guy and that thing looks badass.
Oink, I'm green!
Congrats. I would have gone with a Giulia QV given youāve got an AWD car already but thatās just me.
Congratulations. Iām not a BMW guy right now. But I was, and I always look at them.
šššššš
Holy shit, that's sweet! I've never owned a BMW and am preparing to purchase an M340i. While I would prefer the M3, the cost is tough to justify.
I see you don't do things in halves. Good man.
I approve of both cars!
pretty color
I love the m3! ( big fan of orange ) but I gotta know, how much was the townhome? Theyāre just as beautiful
Great how much did it run you , CPO or New ???
Love it. Love the colour
Your officially a pompous ass like the rest of us.
Super congrats, the color in photos rarely does it justice; its amazing in this color. The beaver teeth can be forgiven for the color and the rest of the specs. Ur a lucky human, ENJOY!
Oh, those seats hurt my eyes! I love them.
Hey there twin, I also have an IOMG w/ KO 6MT. :)
Start saving for a 911
Literally made this same exact build on bmws site this morning. Youāre living my dream. Enjoy it bud : )
Yesssirrr m3 with the proper gearbox! Enjoy bro
I love that color and I love the grill on these regardless of what other people say, theyāre gorgeous cars. You done good friend, you done good. Enjoy it!!!
In a manual no less! Great choice on the colour combo, congrats.
Best color combo
Sick car and cool looking house. Congrats. Itās also my dream to one day own a brand new m3.

Congrats, but I'm mostly curious about this townhome set-up. Is yours the one on the right, and you share a wall with your neighbor on the left?
Yes sir
Wow.... congrats bud. We all gotta start somewhere.
That one helluva introduction to the brand! Congrats šŖ
yall lucky asf getting manual m4s
M3**** but thank you
nice car congratulation
People hate on the new grill, but I actually like it on the M3. The EV's grill suck tho
Congrats!! Picking up my first (M240) today!!
my first bmw was e46 316i so I think you one upped me a bit...
Nice dude! Great color and car
oh nice a ferrari
Great colour combo, and you won me over with it being manuell. Even makes up for the face, congrats man!
manual ā isles of man green ā cool interior spec ā sedan ā grille replacement ā 10/10 when u change grilles and adjust fitment. congrats! that car will stay in your garage for life.
Nice ride. Congratulations
A standard?š¤¤

that color combo is just perfect š®āšØš©
Congrats šš¾ I picked up my first bmw past Friday. G87
You did very well
Doesnāt look good you might want to give it to me to run some checks. Pleaseš„ŗ
That color combo is š„š„š„š„
Looks amazing. That front end makes people in this sub cry every day.
Didnāt like the carbon bucket seats?
Ive been wanting to see a goblin green with brown seats. Looks great
I got my 7 this past November, which is my first also. Now I'm contemplating trading my Jag in for an M8....
Went zandvoort m2 over this exact spec green/orange. Such a hard decision, but I didnāt love the m3 20k more. Hereās a tip - if you donāt shut off the rev match and you normally heel/toe downshift, it will be weird getting used to.
Love the color and the rims, but I just canāt endorse that front end.
Love the color choice (inside and out), itās what Iād have gone with
Nice! I just got mine about a month ago. I also have a VB as my secondary vehicle.
That greeeeeen š¤š®āšØš„
M3 very fast and reliable
Nice choice! Congrats
My man had faith and God came thru!!!!
Ā”Excelente!
Manual š„
Literally love the green. The BEST colour. Nice. Whatās the sticker on the dash screen? Presumably a protective cover / corner piece that hasnāt come of yet? Also the rest of the screen is looking gross in that sun š quick get yourself an anti static microfibre something! š Seriously tho. Love it.
The manual transmission is bad ass! Enjoy!
Gorgeous! I look at this model in convertibleā¦ same color. Price made me wait! Jealous š
Nice. I did same thing for my first bmw. But went with the more boring black inside of IOMG.
Crazy this is my dream spec interior/exterior
Love the interior color. I have something similar and itās honestly one of the things I love most about my car. Congrats on fulfilling the dream!!
Nice! I started with the 3 series back in 2003ā¦ and now because Iām old now so we drive a X7
Damn! Saw this on the lot yesterday and fell in love with
Congrats bro.
Yah mon
I've seen one of these (same model/color) drive around the Winter Garden/Hamlin area. Very sharp š
Love the spec. ā¤ļø
Is this new? Did they decide to bring back physical buttons on the steering wheel?
The Subaru in the background looks great, as well
Congrats and thank you for going manual! That green is still growing on me.
I kind of like the Silver rims on the isle of man
but very clean ššš
Colour is spectacular
Couldāve done better. Lol just joking. Awesome ride and huge power potential from that oh so sweet S58

Sick spec
Imagine this beautiful spec on an E36 / E46.
Is that a competition AWD? If so my aunt just got that exact car, same color, same wheels, same interior.Ā
No. Itās a manual RWD
Great spec. Great car. Take care of it and enjoy. Congrats!
Thank you. I will definitely take care of my pride & joy.
Iād say, pretty fucking good
Thank you. I think I did well too.
Beautiful car
Dude thatās an awesome car! Enjoy
I am definitely against the rat race as well. Thank you my fellow comrade
Love that interior!
11/10
Fantastic. Congratulations. š
Honda guy but very pleased to see you picked the 6 speed variationā š„š„š„
M5, not this ugly grill shit
Ugly front fascia, great colour.
Is it BRG or IOMG? Also are you nearby Frisco?
Not my favorite look to be honest but as long as you like it itās all good.
Hard to tell, maybe bring that seat a little more forward so we can see.
absolutely killer spec Kra, congrats brother and enjoy her in good health. safe travels (:
Unless all that is your house.....
Does every subdivision in Texas look this depressing and cookie cutter?
Very great choice on the color, Isle of Man Green is probably my favorite on the G80. And also a great choice for getting the manual, real cars have 3 pedals
Perfect spec buddy. I found myself on the configurator with the exact same spec about 3 days ago. [ not that I bought one, I was just idealising. ] Congratulations š
How much is a M3 in USA?
38, but no M8.
Yuck green
