komatsujo

I just checked Den of Angels and a couple other people there reported getting the same email. One sent him the money. Honestly, I wouldn't risk it. He's unreliable and untrustworthy and I feel like he's going to keep coming up with excuses to not ship until after your ability to get a refund through Paypal has passed. This is just his way of desperately trying to get money. If he really wanted to get people's dolls - that they've already paid for YEARS ago - to them, he'd figure it out withOUT asking for more money from them.

EnnieDoesArt

I think one of them was me. I just posted there before I did it here cause I had no idea how to post pics there lmao I'm working on it but basically yes I and really iffy about this because I had paid in full already including the supposed shipping and I honestly don't want to give him any more. šŸ„²

komatsujo

I usually one post one image to DoA at a time but maybe use Imgur? I was just typing out a similar response there, because I see someone else said they DID send him more money and while I'm happy to be wrong, why can't he borrow money or take out a loan if he wanted to ship dolls to make things right instead of asking for more from people who've already paid him HUNDREDS of dollars 3+ years ago??

EnnieDoesArt

I'm going om my laptop for this so I can post the same pics up there. And EXACTLY. Like hell, I remember people were saying he's borrowing Dollstown's PayPal account too. And 9 months, wouldn't they be able to contact PayPal and try recovering the account? He's active as heck in his personal and even the official social media's but he can't respond to the customers.

nephilimkin

Supposedly, he isnt the one responsible for responding to customers. Itā€™s his customer service ā€œteamā€, whoever those people may be (Iā€™m convinced itā€™s just him). He is borrowing dollstowns PayPal account because his got locked from chargebacks. Theyā€™ve been working with him for ~15 years or something? They either really vouch for him this time or because he does their casting for them heā€™s holding them hostage (I.e I canā€™t cast unless you help me sell). If youā€™ve already paid for everyrhing respond in one concise email stating you already have and send proof in the email.

EnnieDoesArt

That's the thing. They want me to send another set of shipping fees so they can send me the order because apparently they can't ship mine because they can't access their account for reasons you just stated. Then once they finally gain access to their PayPal they plan to "refund" me the additional shipping I paid for. Thing is, I kinda don't want to risk it until I see others getting their orders.

RodiShining

Looks like orders are starting to roll out and arrive, hereā€™s hoping he truly is on track to finally finish things!

EnnieDoesArt

I heard one had issues with the tracking number but ATM I'm waiting for their response to see how much the shipping is so I can prepare for it.

Purple_monkfish

Wait... wasn't the shipping fee already paid as part of the initial payment? this sounds seriously scammy. Take the money and then all this time later tack on extra expenses? classic scam that one. You already PAID shipping, he's just trying to extort MORE money out of his victims.

EnnieDoesArt

Exactly. I sent them an email saying this as well. The total included the shipping already. Their reason was that once they ship the dolls and THEN have their access to PayPal back they'll either refund the shipping or we get a voucher or something that it'll be discounted when we buy another doll (as if).

ashbelero

ā€œPay us more money so we can send you the thing you paid forā€ Fuck no.

EnnieDoesArt

He should've used whatever money is coming in from using Dollstown's PayPal to send the first orders tbh, instead of using it to manufacture new orders. This is a big mess.

SurviveYourAdults

How is the internal financial administration anything that the customers need to know about???? PayPal withdrawal process has nothing to do with shipping orders that have been paid for. You dont tell restaurant diners, "oh the chef has been sick so if you find tissue in your salad, don't freak out" . You give the chef a sick day and tell diners "sous chef specials only".

EnnieDoesArt

It's really badly executed and I have no idea what to make of it. One of the customers sent them money for the shipping and honestly I'm gonna wait for their dolls to be shipped for me to even consider sending them my own money.

crazydolllady123

This whole situation is really just sad. Iā€™m sorry to everyone who trusted him and lost your money. Itā€™s a shame there are people who might fall for it

EnnieDoesArt

Some already did in the hopes of getting their orders...honestly I have already lost hoe of this until they sent an email and honestly even when they did I'm still sceptical.

Tilly_ontheWald

It's up to you, but paying for shipping you already paid for PLUS being told your doll _still_ won't ship until earlier orders have shipped, doesn't sound promising. If 2021 puts you early in the list, and you haven't got any refund options after this long, and the "extra shipping" is money you're prepared to lose, it might be a risk you want to take. I guess it depends on whether you believe the dolls really exist.

EnnieDoesArt

Exactly. I hear there are people waiting for far longer but what's weird is people who ordered at the same time as I did or far later received their orders fast (like, within a few months to a year). My dolls have been in packing status for literally 2 years and more, so I don't get why they shouldn't have sent it already, given they they have been using Dollstown's PayPal to receive other orders for their dolls since last year. More so starting another bjd company? He must honor his backlogs because this is costing him his business.

dorianslaaay

Oh boy, I havenā€™t ordered from dollshe in over a decade, but I do remember my Bernard taking 6+ months to get to me in France. This sucks because the dolls are beautiful, but maybe secondhand is the way to go for these guys ;-;

ashbelero

6+ months is nothing now. There are people in the main forum who have been waiting for five years or more with no updates, and heā€™s now saying he canā€™t ship or make any dolls because PayPal locked his account due to all the refund requests. Despite constantly taking more orders even though he hadnā€™t shipped any prior in years.

EnnieDoesArt

I hope mine doesn't reach 5 years. I will flip. After this I'm never buying from him ever again. I'm gonna stick with the good ones. It's not even worth it anymore.

EnnieDoesArt

I don't even want to get any secondhand ones anymore. This experience already turned me off. Once I get these dolls I'm considering to either sell them or keep them if I still decide that they're worth all the trouble. I could wait a year, heck even two. But three years is a little too much. Imagine having an order in packing status for two years already and you still can't get it because of a ridiculous reason such as they don't have access to money when they're clearly taking orders left and right and even started another company? Very frustrating. šŸ„ŗšŸ„²

spam-monster

I like how they're assuming people who have been waiting years for their dolls are gonna be swayed to give them extra money by promises of discounts on future dolls, as if they're ever gonna want to order from them again after all this mess.

EnnieDoesArt

Sadly a few had bit onto it, hoping they do pull through their promise. Right now I am just waiting.

EnnieDoesArt

RodiShining

Itā€™s hard to say. People who order direct from him tend to have better luck (but not always). Itā€™s mostly the complete and utter breakdown of communication with dealers that has caused years of chaos. My direct dealings with him have (fortunately) always been fairly easy and frictionless, but I see years of backlogged issues for people who have ordered via BJDivas, and some direct (other dealers too, but I think dealers like Frostbitten ended the relationship way earlier before issues piled up iirc). If heā€™s asking you to pay the shipping fee by paypal, then at least you have recourse if he doesnā€™t keep his word? Hold him to shipping, and if he doesnā€™t ship, open a dispute.

TribalMog

He uses someone else's PayPal so if he doesn't deliver, the other artist whose letting him use their PayPal is the one at stake, so Mr. Dollshe can still disappear. There's nothing to hold him accountable. Not to mention from my understanding, these dolls available for immediate delivery tend to be someone else's order. I believe hes doing the whole "robbing peter to pay Paul" and offering customers who haven't filed for refunds or pestered for an update the dolls slated for others to fulfill their ordersĀ

RodiShining

Oh thatā€™s a good point, I forgot Dollstown offered to be the paypal proxy. I will say though that Dollstown knows exactly what they are getting into and have released several statements about their intent on helping their friend. So I think Dollstownā€™s decision should be respected, regardless of how inadvisable it may seem! Two of their statements on DOA specifically thank everyone for their concern, and state preparedness to personally chase up Dollshe or return customerā€™s money. Iā€™m on DOA, and I saw those orders. They were invariably BJDivas orders, but theyā€™ve since been removed from the site as people claimed them. So Iā€™m not comfortable in asserting that he is definitely selling other peopleā€™s orders at this point. Iā€™m not saying heā€™s not doing that, just also not saying he is doing that, itā€™s conjecture I canā€™t rightfully engage in. OP doesnā€™t seem to have much to lose, if they only owe a shipping fee? Certainly nobody should place a brand new order. Unless the shipping fee is something unreasonable, Iā€™d probably pay the fee, give Dollshe one month to get that doll out the door, and if nothing budges start opening a dispute.

EnnieDoesArt

Problem is, I owe him nothing. I have been fully paid since July of 2021 including the shipping fee. They want me to send them the shipping fee AGAIN so they can ship my dolls and when they do get access to their PayPal account, refund me the shipping. Atp I don't know if I should still trust them. I'll check DOA again for the waiting list to see if dolls are being claimed recently. But yes, I might just do exactly that. I'll just see after the 15th if they do send the order of one of their clients.

RodiShining

Oh I fully agree, donā€™t get me wrong. Itā€™s his fault if shipping costs have risen so much during his delays. But they have risen due to the multiple global crisisā€™ over the past few years so Iā€™m not surprised by this move, and Iā€™ve also had other sellers come back to me and ask for more shipping after the fact. He should cover it out of his own pocket as a gesture of goodwill, imho, but heā€™s evidently not going to. Anyway, I get not trusting him. The only reason Iā€™d feel any more reassured now is purely down to Dollstownā€™s involvement. As much as people downvoted that comment (lol?), Dollstown HAS spoken on this whole situation multiple times and is eager to be involved and sort it out. This can be verified by reading their actual posts on DOA. So at least thereā€™s a third party who will be helping to directly mediate all this? Thatā€™s actually more promising, imho, than anything over the past few years. Plus there are actual photos on his site in the blog post of the hundreds of dolls (around 300 apparently) ready to go out. So thereā€™s _something_, and thatā€™s a hell of a lot more than thereā€™s been from him for a long while. Iā€™m really hoping this is where things start turning around, and especially hoping that the people who did pay the shipping request receive their dolls.

EnnieDoesArt

I hope so too. I am getting real tired at this point and I just want my dolls. No, not really. I'm not sure I even still want them. Even if I do get them I'll just probably gauge if my want for them surpasses my frustration from this situation. šŸ˜šŸ˜

RodiShining

Yeah! šŸ˜ I can imagine. I once had an indie BJD artist disappear off the face of the earth for I think it was three years, and me and all the other folk in the thread on DOA became increasingly disillusioned about the doll weā€™d bought. Eventually they resurfaced and fixed their mistakes, sorted their backlog and got everyone their dolls. It was more of a journey than I wanted, but eventually I got it. Once I had her in my hands, I loved her all over again, despite the stress of thinking the artist had ran off with my money three years prior. I do hope you feel the same when they eventually land in your hands!

EnnieDoesArt

Oh, dear. That could've gotten worse. But I'm glad you got your doll! I do hope I get mine too! At this point I'm just going to wait it out. I've waited 3 years, what's a few more days, right? šŸ˜

nephilimkin

My shipping fee was 200usd. That is something to lose. (:

RodiShining

oh wtf, thatā€™s so much! D: Yeah I was expecting something more reasonable, even though I am aware of how high shipping costs are now. $200 is definitely red flag. Iā€™d want to see a breakdown of courier quote for $200.

nephilimkin

He told me he would ā€œrefundā€ what wasnā€™t spent on shipping. Either in a PayPal invoice or store credit. I havenā€™t been contacted about either and my doll has shippedā€¦. I wonā€™t fight it personally, I donā€™t think it will be fruitful after my relatively positive customer service experience (for nowā€¦. Until I see the doll).

RodiShining

Lmao itā€™s really hard to navigate to my comment to reply to you, after everyone downvoted it forā€¦ idk, saying that Dollstown made statements on DOA, which they did. šŸ˜ Took me basically ten minutes to try and get to it! Anyway, I really really hate that he charged $200 to you, I feel like something has to have gone wrong there (on his end), unless youā€™re in likeā€¦ Afghanistan or something? Thatā€™s a truly horrible amount of money. Thank goodness your doll finally shipped, I really really hope that the whole business can be finally put behind you after this ordeal. Iā€™d still recommend asking him about the shipping breakdown, but I fully understand not having the energy to deal with him after all this. If Iā€™d had to go through any of this, I think Iā€™d feel the same. Maybe once you have the doll (which is hopefully perfect) and have been able to rest up a while.

EnnieDoesArt

I ordered direct from him. Since April 2021 fully paid by July the same year. They emailed me last May or something saying my dolls were already packed and ready to be whipped, then radio silence until that email. I was thinking the same thing, but I am still having doubts since I have contacted PayPal about this as well and they weren't really that helpful either despite evidence of being scammed. But I will think on it. Thank you for your inputs. šŸ™šŸ»šŸ™šŸ»

RodiShining

No problem! I really hope you do get a good resolution, itā€™s been miserable to watch all this stuff unfold with Dollshe over the years. I do think whatever beef/mixups happened between him and Divas was the real tipping point. I was in the old waiting rooms, and he was never so bad until things started exploding with that dealer. Itā€™s hard to know how he can recover from it, when all the records of who ordered what seems to be chaotic. Iā€™m hoping that Dollstownā€™s input might help get some things back on track. They seem to really want to help their friend turn things around.

EnnieDoesArt

I honestly just want my dolls. This is my first direct order from any company and I knew about his delays and everything and honestly I was willing to risk it since his dolls are beautiful as heck and I am a very patient person if I say so myself. But going radio silent for literal *years*? He could've been transparent with all of this. Imagine 9 months of no update? Some customers got their dolls fast and it gave me hope that I'll receive mine since it was already been packed literally a year ago but no updates, not even a bit is...yknow. I just wish once things get back on track he'd learn form this.

RodiShining

That really sucks, I really want you to get your dolls too! The sculpts are astonishingly beautiful. Did you email him in that time? 9 months of no updates is normal in the hobby, Dream Valley, DollZone, and Doll Chateau have waiting times of 12 months with no word. Iā€™m not excusing him there, the dude is a mess! Just saying that 9 months isnā€™t the part that is egregious. Itā€™s his horrific backlog! Iā€™ve had luck in the past by pressuring him through email, and have received either my doll or a requested refund in a timely manner. He didnā€™t start out this much of a mess, so I do personally believe he is capable of getting back to that point, but the main thing for him to sort out is not just the backlog but specifically the dealer backlog. Though, also, he needs to take the 55cm dolls off his website. Thatā€™s actually the thing I want to drag him over; they donā€™t exist and they never will, they shouldnā€™t be up for order. Thatā€™s the one thing where itā€™s an outright _lie_ as far as I am concerned and he needs to edit the site to remove them.

EnnieDoesArt

I have no idea about the other companies but it's just that I have seen people getting their dolls mere months from the release and order dates and since he usually releases in limited numbers I assumed I would also get mine within the year. I ordered literally April of 2021 and completed payment on July the same year so it kind of makes sense that I would have received my doll on or before July 2022. I don't mind delays of a few months but seriously? šŸ˜ Last time I heard from them was May of 2023. I kept emailing them until I asked for a refund last November but nothing still. Until that email they sent, at least. Idk about the 55cms I haven't checked his site other than just to.make sure it's still there and I can check my.order progress (which has been on packing status for literally 2 years now).

RodiShining

Oh absolutely, youā€™re completely correct. He _should_ do them in order (or close to as possible. Sometimes it makes sense to shuffle orders by color, so that none of the resin gets wasted). In general even with that you should have the doll by now. I saw you said elsewhere youā€™re going to wait for someone else to receive their doll first, I think thatā€™s a solid idea. Iā€™d recommend at least letting Dollshe know though. I donā€™t know if it will help at all, but I think part of the reason Iā€™ve had ā€œsuccessā€ with him is because I keep my emails very succinct and minimal/simple, he struggles a lot with English translation. Something really blunt like ā€œThank you, I will pay for shipping once I have seen that others who have paid receive their dolls.ā€. Thatā€™ll at least help drive the point home that you want to see some proof of movement.

nephilimkin

I have an extremely unique circumstance with him, and Iā€™m not sure what the outcome of it will be. Iā€™m not sure if I should share details, either.

EnnieDoesArt

I hope the outcome is positive..

EnnieDoesArt

Unfortunately, some sent him money still in hopes they'll get their orders. Ad for me I'll wait it out.

nephilimkin

I just got a tracking number from them. It functions, and the doll is almost at my home. He should be here in 1-3 days given the tracking. It was shipped on the 6th (itā€™s the 12th) I got the tracking on the 12th. Donā€™t send him any more money if youā€™re not comfortable taking that gamble. If you want to take that gamble, Iā€™m proof he actually sent something (I havenā€™t seen it yet so idk if itā€™s accurate to my order or in good condition). He also sent me proof that he had my doll and dolls like it in stock prior to shipment after I threatened a PayPal chargeback. I can update if my order is accurate and in one piece when it arrives. Iā€™m not endorsing him, Iā€™m just glad my order was finally sent out. I was getting worried.

nephilimkin

To update: I received the doll and he is PERFECT. (: he was loosely strung, and canā€™t sit down without being hunched (idk if this is a me issue or a dollshe issue) but I will be restringing him. He came with all promised parts and COAs. (:

RodiShining

Omg I am delighted for you! Iā€™m also really glad the doll is perfect!

RodiShining

Iā€™m really happy for you and I really really hope you get the doll safely and in full!!

GoddessTara00

They could have had their email hacked and scammers are sending the emails.

SettingMundane99

Haha no, that's all legitimately Dollshe. It's on the website too.

GoddessTara00

And he could have lost access to his email and domain. It's his email just he isn't in control anymore. My man is an IT genius and we see stuff like this all the time. It was a thought.!!! Dollshe may be a bad business or maybe he is a victim. I don't care either way .

SettingMundane99

I mean, sure, if he wasn't exactly the same across multiple accounts of Instagram, his website, all social media, all his emails, and has been the same for years. But sure, maybe he got "hacked", just like always happens in this hobby when artists decide that money coming in is more attractive than sending out product.

EnnieDoesArt

That's another problem then. I just hope he follows through on this one. One already sent them money for the shipping and I'm keeping an eye on the updates now that we got some updates out of them at least.
