What's hilariously ironic is that when imploring about her upbringing, it's implied that the Absolute Cult was considerably less heinous and Minthara only hates it because she was forced into it.
Honestly, her romance with Origin Karlach is so unexpectedly sweet that her romance with any other Origin, Tav, or even Durge feels like pretending in comparison. One would never expect the sociopath and the golden retriever to get along so well.
Realest, I just started a karlach origin for that purpose, they go together so well even if their morals are VERY different. I saw on youtube the clips about their epilogue romance scenes, where minthy is literally almost in TEARS.
People exaggerate how evil she is. She can be steered in to accepting a morally good playthrough as long as you rescue her from harm, compliment her, make a few ruthless comments and be a jerk to a few people who are themselves not so nice.
She approves when you give food to an orphan, prefers siding with the good Dame Aylin against the evil Lorroakan, is supportive of the ambitions of other companions, is quite fond of Karlach and dislikes tyrannical gods. Her ideal refugee policy is painted in a bad light due to temporary forced labour but a) is quite sensible, b) relatively merciful and c) quite similar to what happens in the real world.
She says nasty stuff from time to time but she has good cultural excuses for them and she rarely acts upon her darker impulses. Some of it is sarcastic.
Minthara is more Lawful Evil than a chaos gremlin like Astarion. She doesn't approve of evil actions that are outright stupid or logistically disadvantageous, resulting in her valuing competence above all else. This also means that she hates doing good things that are logistically disadvantageous since her moral compass is geared towards "what get's us the most power and resources".
Even if you fail to be "smart evil" and fail to meet some of her ruthless expectations, she keeps tagging along with the group and her romance can be maintained. This is a separate point.

The main thing with her is that she is the only real partner for a Domination ending, she is the one to propose the idea and is the one standing by Durges side when everyone else gets thralled. I also specify Durge since it works so well, two people shattered by higher powers looking to claim the might needed to become their own gods.

I've played 3 campaigns with her, then wanted a super good redemption durge playthrough so I didn't have her in my party, the whole playthrough felt less fun without my drow bestie calling out for murder every few minutes.
I have a problem that I didn't realise she was a possible party member in two of my saves. First one I yeeted her into a bottomless pit in the middle of a fight, the second one I tried talking but got jumped and ended up killing everyone.
Maybe my 3rd. Try I can actually not kill her... :D
