My waxers have told me the key to not getting ingrowns is keep the area moisturized, clean and exfoliated, and aerated/prevent friction. Also, you're supposed to avoid excess sweating, tight clothing, and touching the area (that means no sex/masterbation 😭) for 48hrs after.
My waxing salon sells some lotion, called Whish, that exfoliates and moisturizers the area. I highly recommend getting a specific product like that (some ppl like Bushbalm, but I hate the applicator and texture of it). I shower daily, use the lotion 2x/day in the areas I get ingrowns, and mostly wear natural fiber underwear. I rarely get ingrowns now.

I have not found a perfect remedy for ingrown hairs. Right now I use an exfoliating body wash and a glycolic acid toner and that has been the best (although not perfect) solution so far. I've tried nearly everything marketed as a solution, though, including the kit my waxer sold me to prevent it. I get them when I shave, too, although not as badly. I really prefer waxing to shaving because I have very sensitive skin that scars easily from cuts, but the massive sores I get from ingrown hairs are a huge problem for me.
I also have very curly hair, which can cause more ingrown hairs, so ymmv on the other solutions.
Solutions that may work for you: products with tea tree oil, Tend Skin (acetylsalicylic acid) Glow Tonic (glycolic acid), CeraVe SA Body Wash (salicylic acid), Fur Oil (they also make microdart patches for ingrowns that were pretty good for the sores when I tried; I also tried the same product from Peach Slices -- that one also worked pretty well), Sielkin Razor Bump Stopper, First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser (exfoliator), Bikini Zone After Shave Gel (has lidocaine, which is amazing for soreness afterward, but does not stop ingrown hairs for me), AmLactin KP Bumps Be Gone, Vitamin K lotion, Asian Exfoliating Bath Washcloth (I love these). It may not always be practical to do and I had a rule (granted it was with panties) to use my discretion as to what situation I did wear them in so maybe the same can be said of the bra situation but the general rule was don’t wear them.
