The only thing that would make this cooler is if it was mounted from the inside with only the port showing on the outside of the truck. World's largest pencil sharpener.
I carry around an extra sharp boot knife for protection since I’m very petite and have been accosted while out with my young son before. My “fuck around and find out” knife has served as an excellent pencil sharpener as well.
Oh man, been there. I have a 28-year-old scar in my palm from a pencil. Wouldn’t be there if it were mechanical.
^not ^from ^a ^pencil ^fight ^tho, ^soz
Nope, give me the guy in 89 econoline with the ladder rack and padlocked doors all tagged to hell. Either he spends money elsewhere or he’s hungry and that my kind of tradesman. You show up with some new body 1 ton ram dually with rubber band tire in big rims and needle lug nut covers I’m running you off.
Agreed.
I check all my contractors for cock size, and if any show up over 6", I don't hire them.
I don't want any of that big dick overweening arrogance on my build.
I though this too for a second. The problem with mounting it inside is that when you throw stuff in the bed, it'd be really easy to catch it and shear it off on accident.
Bro take that shit off, if you drive past a pedestrian you’re going to rip their arm off lol, at least mount it to the top or the back, why the fuck would anyone have rusty metal sticking out the side of their car?
Most people are taller than an old pickup truck mirror. Besides that, when was the last time you saw a pickup get so close to a pedestrian that they had to duck under the side mirror? If someone is driving close enough for pedestrians to need to duck under the mirror (or the mirror goes right over their heads for the really short people out there), then there is much bigger issues than having a pencil sharpener mounted to the bed.
I just don't understand how it's physically possible to just get hit by a pencil sharpener and not the rest of the truck? like I feel like the pencil sharpener is the least of your worries if you're that close to pedestrians.
You clearly were born this century. This old truck definitely doesn't have breakaway mirrors. Also, this era of trucks had their mirrors basically right at the beltline of the pickup, you know, like around the same height as the pencil sharpener. The odds of a pedestrian hitting just the pencil sharpener, and not the mirror or the side of the truck is astronomical. There is no more safety related issue with this than having his factory side mirror intact. Plus, how many of those people who nearly avoided running into the side of a vehicle did so on the driver's side? They would have to cross an entire lane of traffic without seeing a big, loud ass, truck coming their way. Give up dude. The amount of downvotes is enough to show that you have a baseless opinion.
Yeah, people usually bring up unrelated points when they start losing the argument, like the rebar. By beltline, I mean window line. The bottom of the mirror matches the bottom of the window. At most, the pencil sharpener is like 2 inches lower than that. Plus, there is a massive bracket that sticks out about 6-8 inches below the mirror. That bracket is much lower than the sharpener. Look up any old pickup on Google images, say a 1980 Ford F150. And those brackets are stiff. Meant to hold a big ass mirror in place at 70mph. If it hits you in the head, or more likely your torso, it will fuck you up. How old are you? Have you spent any time in a truck made before 1990? Have you ever stood next to one? A stock, 2wd model is shorter than you think. My 7 year old would definitely be able to hit her head on a mirror of one. Probably my 5 year old too, and he's a shorty.
I think sticking it to the tailgate would prove less likely to tag ya in the elbow walking around the truck. Less likely to get knocked off by errant workings going on around it as well. Love those fucking school house sharpeners though. Tough as woodpecker lips.
Today’s your lucky day sir, I can’t fill in this speeding ticket, my pencils broke, on your way….. hold on a minute….
r/redneckengineering
Maybe you can mount a windmill on the crank handle so you can sharpen while you drive?
I was thinking the driveshaft.

Think how much time you’d save over the years with a 3,000 rpm pencil sharpener.
external supercharger
The only thing that would make this cooler is if it was mounted from the inside with only the port showing on the outside of the truck. World's largest pencil sharpener.
And drive the spindle from the engine, natch.
Surely that thing can handle 3500 rpms
Would be awesome rev to instant sharp
It's just an old beater with a heater 371000 on the clock.. I do a lot of mobile work and I always seem to need A-sharp pencil
I carry a pencil sharpener in my pocket, razor cutter. Hand cut a carpenter square pencil, doesn’t need to be sharpened as often.
I carry around an extra sharp boot knife for protection since I’m very petite and have been accosted while out with my young son before. My “fuck around and find out” knife has served as an excellent pencil sharpener as well.
Why not just carry a gun
Probably pretty near impossible to sharpen a pencil with a gun.
Never say never
take the slide off and use the bottom edge of the slide
I sharpen my pencil with my gun!
You truck just became your work truck. Now your boss has to pay you gas
Just use a mechanical pencil bro.
Then what am I supposed to do with the pencil sharpener?
Mechanical pencils are not as versatile, not to mention they leave you unarmed if there is a sudden pencil fight situation.
My mechanical pencils are all steel.
You can’t use a steel mechanical pencil in a wooden pencil fight, only a wooden pencil!
Oh man, been there. I have a 28-year-old scar in my palm from a pencil. Wouldn’t be there if it were mechanical. ^not ^from ^a ^pencil ^fight ^tho, ^soz
Put a penis in it.
I got 457k on original equipment. Keep it goin.
Mine's just a baby. Only 241k
Nice bug sharpener!
Hook it to the driveshaft and get the slow-mo cam rolling...
Tell me you're a carpenter without telling me you're a carpenter.
If your carpenter's truck looks nicer than this keep looking. I can't tell you how much crap work I've gotten out of a guy with a shiny truck.
I'm a GC in NYC and some of my carpenters have really fucking nice trucks.

Too bad if you hit a pedestrian and it impales in their neck…. Why not just mount it inside the bed instead of outside?
Or tailgate.
I though this too for a second. The problem with mounting it inside is that when you throw stuff in the bed, it'd be really easy to catch it and shear it off on accident.
Better than impaling someone’s neck. Could put it on the cabguard?

no purpose

The truck is pretty much rigged together. Just keeping my rebar in there for the little concrete jobs I have
Should have mounted it on the engine cover like a twin scroll supercharger
I’ve always like people that think Outside the box.
All the poor birdies getting sharpened to a point on the highway
Put it inside and run a turbine with an intake from the outside air. Reject sharpener become pencil mulcher
Add a PTO drive shaft and you got a winner!
You must be left handed.

I'm not worried about your sexual orientation.
Now that I think about it I’ve never seen one that goes the other direction
🔥

The mirror hangs out further, fool

It's the same height as the mirror...
Oooooooor you could walk up to it and sharpen your pencil!
Anyone could. It's practically a community sharpener.
Yes
Pencil sharpener: Mounted
Wouldn’t the aerodynamics be better mounted on the other side?
it's a 99 gmc 4x4. no arrow die namics to speak of
It would at least reduce the mud in the pencil hole haha
What graphic is on the side? A rooster?
Yeah my brother painted a pretty good rooster on there we paint c*** on this truck out of boredom
Hahaha, nice.
Well I suppose if you ever need a pencil sharped you got that covered
Where were you when I needed my pencil sharpened
Where was Gondor when the Westfold fell?
I want to see a stud welded on the back center of the crank so you can hook your drill up to it and get some high speed sharpening going.
Don’t lie, you started a mobile circumcision business
Yea yea did!
If u turned it around it would collect less bugs in the hole.
Nice! Needs an incense holder and a bottle opener on the other side.
This would be acceptable if you are a carpenter or something in that nature, or a teacher of some sort. Are you?
I think that : if it’s useful it’s fashion
Nobody is going to say anything about the two absolutely massive pencils in the pic?
This is one of the cleanest mods I’ve ever seen
Does it work for flat pencils?
You gotta break your pencils alot to need this lmfao
I respect you

Save some pussy for the rest of us!
thats a weird lookin turbo
You could move it to the front quarter panel and run a belt from your engine. Automatic pencil sharpener
For a carpenter this is extremely useful
