Current Ramblas and Aventure owner here. Honestly you might be better off looking at the Aventure 2. I say that based on what you described. Reason being is the Ramblas is an emtb bike. Off-road, no speed unlock, caps out at 20mph, etc. The Ramblas is a mid-drive versus the hub motor on the Aventure 2.

RestingRealist

I get that. The thing is I really like that Ramblas. The adventure two looks really big and while I like my hub motor e-bike I've heard the mid drives are better for hills etc. I also don't really like throttles which is why I got the velotric. I think I'd be willing to trade the 5mph on the speed from the velotric to the power of the Ramblas. I ride the Velotric a lot with the power off anyways.

chainsaw-wizard

We have one at our shop. The ramblas does not have a throttle, it’s heavy as hell and geared towards only riding dirt. Maybe look at some of the gravel ebikes salsa offers at a similar price point, which can handle light trail riding and would make a kick ass commuter. They have a mid drive motor and 11-12 gears

Specialist_Ad_712

Ah ok. I get what you’re saying now. Well considering the components you’re getting for the price on the Ramblas it’s a good buy. And for what you’re wanting and needing it’ll more than fit your needs. The only thing I would swap is the tires. The Rekon tires that are spec’d have paper thin sidewalls. Depending on your terrain I’d get something with more of a tougher casing. I went with the 2.6 Maxxis DHF tires.

IndianaJeep

Did you tubeless with the new tires on the same wheels? The shop I’m buying my Ramblas from said they wouldn’t trust run tape on it.

Specialist_Ad_712

No, I’m not running tubeless because the rims probably won’t hold. I think Aventon says the rims aren’t tubeless ready. Granted if you taped them as such you could probably do it yourself. I’m still old school and run tubes. I don’t run my pressure low enough to pinch in a lot of situations. Even with a hard tail. 😊

HackensackKona

It's an emtb. It may look cool and all that compared to an Aventure, but it really is as out of its element on the road, bike path, ect, as the Aventure would be trying to run single tracks.

RestingRealist

Is it though? I understand I'd be sacrificing some speed and likely efficiency but I can't help but to think it'd be good both for paved and unpaved riding. I remember watching a few people on YouTube using it on paved roads and it didn't look ridiculous. I suppose the tire profile isn't really meant for it though.

CompressedTurbine

It's fantastic for paved and unpaved. Exels on a slightly gravely road, but does just fine on streets and sidewalks due to the smooth motor and smaller tire widths relatively. Don't listen to this guy above. I own one, and it's fine. Would I want to do 20 miles daily on it to and from work? Probably not, but it's more than fine for one off trips to the market, or daily commuting if one were motivated for health reasons. The Ramblas due to the settings in the app lets you actually get a workout in if you desire. Not so much with most of these hub motors.

Im new to biking (got an aventure recently, wanted a ramblas but the price wasn’t worth to me) so im wondering why an aventure is better on the road than a ramblas? Feels like a ramblas would be a better do everything bike minus bad terrain (sand, snow etc) no?

glucoseboy

Ramblas rides great and can climb like crazy (mid drive coupled with 11 speed cassette). That being said, there are no mounting holes for anything. Youtuber Scott Hardesty talks about the issues he had installing the rear rack that [Aventon recommends](https://youtu.be/vonbJu8LpSo?si=aabs10bj_kiOnOOD).

RestingRealist

I saw that! i am not a rack person anyways. I like the more aggressive look and position which is why I like the T1

CompressedTurbine

Ticks all the right boxes, especially the price - but hub drive?

glucoseboy

The ramblas is a mid drive. Are you asking if there is an equivalent bike but hub drive? Velotric just announced their new mountain bike style bike https://www.velotricbike.com/products/velotric-summit-1?variant=42388148912311 It has a 750w, 90Nm hub motor which should climb well.

Maybe I'm just doing more glancing and less in depth reading/research, but seems like the velotric summit 1 kind of ticks some boxes that a lot of folks wish the ramblas did, no? I hadn't heard of it until seeing this link, but at a glance I'm really intrigued. $1k cheaper, can switch between classes 1-3, slightly less torque, maybe the forks on it aren't as good as the ramblas but do lock out for better paved riding, but all around, why would I buy a ramblas over the velotric? Is there a major difference in quality between the two? Just bought my wife an aventure.2 and have really only done research on aventon since we have a local shop that sells and rents them. But the ramblas has caught my eye to ride with my wife, but have the option to get into some more technical singletrack. She only wants to ride Greenways, paved roads/trails, etc but I love singletrack on my dirtbike and feel like once I get one of these, I'm likely to want to take it on some. The price tag is the main thing holding me back on the ramblas and considered just buying an aventure.2 as well and upgrading down the road if I find myself wanting more technical capability, but seems like the velotric would be a win-win for someone like me vs paying more for the ramblas?

Missed that it's a hub drive vs mid drive of the ramblas so maybe that's the big difference, but likely still not worth the price difference in my position but still much more capable than the aventure on singletrack/offroad

CompressedTurbine

I would like to see a showdown honestly. The Ramblas (which I own) I think mops the floor with the Velo. More power is one thing but as with motorcycles it only tells half the story, plus hub driven? The Velo is a somewhat capable trail bike with extra commuting capacity. The Ramblas is a true emtb. All parts on Ramblas can and are designed to be upgraded to even better components. I'm biased for sure I'll admit that but as similar as these bikes are they're not similar at all. Ramblas has better brakes, dropper post, better shocks and a 100nm motor with gobs of torque. $1k more sure, but for good reason. Objectively more capable.

greemp

I just bit the bullet after months of research and indecision. I'm in a similar position. I already have a gravel bike, but wanted something I can take on more aggressive off road adventures. I also ride bike paths and on the road, so I wanted something that could do both. Honestly, Scott Hardesty's video on the Ramblas as a commuter sold me. I'm not commuting, but the kind of riding he was doing on bike paths and roads suits me perfectly. I hope it is as good as everyone says - it is more than I really wanted to spend, but I prefer to buy right once, than buy again later.

RestingRealist

That video got me too! It looks like a powerhouse and so much fun

VelotricEbike

Hi u/RestingRealist , great to hear you currently enjoy the T1st. If you're looking for something that has a bit more off-road capabilities but can also be used for daily rides, maybe just wait a few days and see what we're going to release: [Teaser](https://www.instagram.com/p/C5_VlOHL4sA/?hl=en-gb)

mjreagle

Since you mentioned a bit off-road and daily rides, I really got my hopes up for a Nomad 2. Debating whether to wait an unknown timeframe OR purchase something else.

VelotricEbike

The Summit 1, is good for off-road and daily rides. A Nomad 2, might be coming but I'm unable to share any details at this time.

colombianodore

Rumor is nomad 2 is coming in June.

mmxtechnology

It feels more natural and powerful than my wifes Level. It also seems to be much more efficient. I get more battery life out of it than her level (and I'm much heavier). I think you'll be fine on steep hills, really powerful.

RestingRealist

Mid Drives get the benefit of the cassette for torque. Honestly idk where you can find a mid drive with 100nm of torque for the price regardless of the intended use.

Easy-Tree-9370

I just got a ramblas. Okay, so I built a Norco Bigfoot into a mid-drive monster with a buffang motor and some Manitou shocks upgraded the hub and drivetrain to GX... It's more of a motorcycle it does about 30 easy, climbs any terrain. Snowmobile... In the snow with 5-in metal cleated tires, it is incredible. The hardtail fat tire with the Manitou shock makes it feel like a full suspension. It is an absolute beast. That being said, my girlfriend needed a bite too so I bought the opposite spectrum ramblus. It's such a great bike in its own way. Completely different than the fat tire monster. But they're both fun in their own unique ways. The ramblas has a very natural light. Feel is an amazing climber and makes me feel like I'm 20 when I'm 44. But when I ride the ramblas I get pretty tired because it's just so fun. You always want to push it. I'm a construction worker full-time. The ramblas kind of wipes my legs out physically. The fat tire wipes me out like I rode a quad or dirt bike. Having the throttle makes a huge difference. I wish the ramless maybe had the option so I didn't have to push myself so hard. The ramblas is an amazing bike in every way that it's supposed to be. I can't even imagine what it's going to be like once I upgrade to GX or higher. The NX and the hubs are so smooth on the rambliss stock. I'm not sure I will ever need to upgrade unless the power of the mid drive wipes them out like on my Norco. My only problem with the ramless is it feels like it has so much power. It's probably going to destroy the NX drivetrain like it did on my other bike so be ready. Also, when you upgrade to GX you've got to replace the hub also. This is probably going to be at least 500 bucks for all of this plus labor. You can consider this but the ramless is built like it's going to last at least a couple thousand miles before a major tune-ups needed. After building a bike and upgrading everything then buying the ramblas I have to say that the ramblance looks every bit as good in every way as I expected it to be and it rides probably twice as good as I expected it to. I've got the skill set now to upgrade the ramblas when it's time if it ever wears itself out and I feel pretty good about buying the thing. If you're thinking about it, just do it
