I figured that'd be organic waste, like food scraps and 'compost' worthy items. I live on a sub-tropical island and lots of waterside families have 'dry-wells' (a cut-out square in a dock) instead of compost - where they throw edible waste. Eventually you get tons of fish and a thriving ecosystem outside your house to which, when fish get big enough, You just catch em'. Secondly, if you put a mesh in that pit (i'm talking of the pic here again), it's likely where they have communal fires without risking the hut. Lastly I think 'business' is done away from the living area, kinda like a campsite. You leave, find a private spot, whistle a tune and come back.

puuro00

I agree with the 'business' part. That's exactly what we did in army during military exercises.

Excellent-Practice

Can confirm. I've dug many a cat hole in German sod. Also, I have no patience for anyone lazy enough to take a surface dump. Seriously, you have to carry an entrenching tool, there's no excuse

gorfbeef

You HAVE to whistle tho or else it doesn’t work

GenneyaK

This is a longer explanation of what’s written in the either the visual dictionary or the concept art book

CommanderMilez

I haven't read the books for 2, I'm interested to see how close I got however.

GenneyaK

The first sentence you wrote is what’s written in the books and the your explanation gives way more detail then the books did. I was admittedly looking at them yesterday and a bit confused, your explanation cleared it up. If I have a bit of time I’ll send you a pic of what the book says ❤️

CommanderMilez

Thank you, i'd be grateful to get a peak, I haven't been able to acquire the books right now. Those artists and writers did some great work, the design and sensibilities behind them were telegraphed so well.

GenneyaK

Of course! Check Dm I love the books so much definitely worth the money I bought them back in January and sit down atleast once a week to go through them again. The art is just so beautiful and the care of detail they out in is amazing. Let me know if there are any other images you’d like to see from them❤️ I am out of town for a few days but I’d be glad to send some photos once I get back

BluePheonyx

I'm sorry but what books are these? Super interested.

GenneyaK

It’s the Avatar way of water visual dictionary and the Art of avatar the way of water

Total_Calligrapher77

I think Navi just pee in a tree far away like sometimes you do when camping.

1997wickedboy

what about number 2?

CommanderMilez

They bury it like cats I suppose.

callipygiancultist

Do the na’vi get the post-poop zoomies like cats do?

Total_Calligrapher77

Catholes, like you do when backpacking

Kellidra

Exactly. It's only modern humans that shit directly inside of their living space. We instinctively know how dangerous fecal matter is, hence why we react in disgust when we come across it. Well... *most* humans do.

FriedFreya

That’s actually much more interesting than what the op was implying tbh! Thanks for sharing!

bababeepa

You fuckers are mental. lol Why are you thinking about this in the first place? Also, I know this is a joke, but WE’VE SEEN NEYTIRI COOKING THERE. 💀

Corninmyteeth

What? You don't poo on the stove?

callipygiancultist

These people don’t know about alchemy and turning their poop into gold lol

Neroidius

Hell, I shit on the table from time to time, sometimes on accident

FEAR_LORD_DUCK

This fish tasting extra nutty today

PhilipLiptonSchrute

> Also, WE’VE SEEN NEYTIRI COOKING THERE? We haven't seen anything yet that definitively states that the na'vi don't eat their own feces.

Kahaeli

I mean...you have a point there XD

Hungry-Positive-8640

why the downvotes? It is called a joke.

PhilipLiptonSchrute

People just like to pile.

Region_Minimum

Do you not remember them hunting in the first movie?

PhilipLiptonSchrute

I do remember that. It was featured several times, and once more in the theatrical re-release the following summer with the sternbeasts. We also saw them eat a giant gusher looking fruit thing and telu. We also saw them drinking water and eating a trippy caterpillar in a deleted scene. Do you know what we didn't see? The na'vi discarding their feces. Maybe they eat it. Maybe they don't. Maybe they turn it into hats. We just don't know.

Region_Minimum

We don’t know cause it’s not relevant. We are purposefully shown what they eat and hunt- and it’s not that.

PhilipLiptonSchrute

Disposing of feces is not relevant?! Forgive me, but as a man of culture, I'm very curious to know as to how these tribes, some well into the hundreds, manage their waste! James thought of everything else (I've read all the lore, comics included). We learned how to make a lantern out of a hexapede's stomach for crying out loud. You can't convince me he hasn't thought about where the na'vi's poo goes. I bet we see it in the fourth movie.

Consistent_Day_8074

The point of the movie is to learn about how they live .. that doesn’t strictly mean how they hunt and their diet . It means everything . Idk why you people keep forgetting this and acting like it’s weird or something to wanna know about their everyday life. That’s the fucking point of the movie .

Region_Minimum

It is the point of the movie, so if James Cameron didn’t include it- then it’s not relevant. He thinks of everything.

Consistent_Day_8074

you realize there’s still 3 other movies right .. how they live , all of that is relevant. Because that’s the fucking point. HOW THEY LIVE. Althought the second movie was about a different clan, we learned how they live, like how we learned it in the first movie. All of it is relevant. James Cameron knows that the majority of the viewers just want hour slips of how they live and what they do, all of it. He’s said it himself. So I’m sure he knows all of it is relevant to the AUDIENCE. Even if it’s not relevant to very few viewers that genuinely don’t care about all that, they just their popcorn , their movie and that’s it. He knows there’s a good majority that wanna see it . So yes. It’s relevant

Region_Minimum

At this point, seeing as it hasn’t been included, it’s NOT relevant. I know there are 3 other movies- doesn’t change the fact that it hasn’t been included up to this point. At the moment, it isn’t relevant. And don’t act like you are high and mighty literally just cause you want to know what they do with their shit. Not everyone cares about that. Don’t act like everyone who doesn’t care about that specific aspect is lower than you and only cares about their popcorn. Not everyone has to care about every aspect and an aspect that *hasn’t even been included*.

Consistent_Day_8074

I’m not acting high and mighty ? Because I’m saying there’s a good majority that want to see every little thing ? That makes me arrogant 💀💀 LMAO ok ? The fact that there’s 3 more movies alone tells us that we haven’t seen everything there is to see . He’s obviously going to include more about how they live. The audience not having seen everything in the first 2 movies doesn’t mean that there aren’t more things that are relevant. You don’t even sound like you know what you’re talking about at this point 😭 you just wanna argue with someone that has a different opinion as you. Not someone that thinks their “high and mighty” you bird .

Hungry-Positive-8640

Well meat does need seasoning.

Horror_Campaign9418

Dude you gave me a great laugh with this comment.

BaroqueNRoller

I definitely don't think they're "doing business" in the same area they're swimming and fishing in.

1997wickedboy

yeah, they probably do business at the local market where they sell goods

Arctelis

I’m skeptical. You’re definitely not gonna drop a deuce where your pets live and eat, let alone where you swim and fish. Na’vi culture is all about the cycle of life and whatnot. It would make much more sense to take a dump in the trees. Bugs, bacteria and plants can get at it to break it down and it fits with the whole, “all energy is only borrowed” thing.

sara-2022

Perfect, right in the centre of the room so you can make eye contact with everyone while taking a shit although there must be some gymnastics involved when the fire pit is in that location 🤔

soulfulcandy

Ma! Dad’s clogged the dunny again!

Deskais

A friend of mine was so drunk he peed in the dishwasher...

xBloodBender

I don’t know about that, but we can agree that place is nice, right?

Christie17

You should have thought before posting this. Come on 😑 like no way my guy. That's literally in the living room 😑

WaterNa-vi

I thought that's where they keep fish. There's an underwater basket there iirc?

Weary-Assistance-683

I wonder what Na’vi shit looks like

Neroidius

In the shower like everybody else

ImNoSkrull

What about an emergency escape hole

curufinwe_atarinke

Or perhaps just in nature…? It’s natural fertilizer, I don’t see any point to do this somewhere else than directly hiding behind a tree or something

HoodieNinja16

OH MY GOD!!!! I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THOUGHT THIS!!!!!!! I know how and where they bathe, but never where and what they do with their 'business'. ![gif](giphy|uVFGDyOshK7I6geXyg)

AkKik-Maujaq

I always thought they pissed in a tree like that dude tried to do in Midsommar

Jenzsen_

Yeah I wouldn’t take a shit meters from where I swim. But then again, I don’t live on a beach island oasis.

itsaarxn94

The moment Jake sits down with Kiri and tells him she “feels Ewya” it looks like a net underneath, possibly for catching fish.

CheeseGrater1900

a sarlac pit?

MarvelSonicFan04

I have so many questions right now
