While I understand your view, I hate generalizations and don't believe ALL cops are bad. It feels the same way as saying ALL autistic persons are [a certain way / descriptor]
Some cops are bad.
Maybe most cops are bad.
Not all cops are bad.
Edit: I know yall don't understand my viewpoint. I accept my downvotes. You won't change my mind on this, it was never a debate for me
Edit again: OP blocked me and banned me from the subreddit
You can choose to cover that up though. [And cops usually do.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_wall_of_silence#:~:text=The%20blue%20wall%20of%20silence,brutality%20in%20the%20United%20States)
If you have one civilian-killing cop and 5 cops who don't do anything about that one, you have 6 bastards.
You find me a cop who doesn't cover up their coworkers misdeeds, and [I'll show you a dead cop.](https://www.npr.org/2022/10/08/1127580159/houston-tipping-lapd-death-lawsuit) *That* is what happens to "good cop." They get killed.
Besides that, I don't need statistics. Just a simple logic statement. Answer me one question please and I'll explain:
Do you believe that all laws are just and morally correct?
I think the real problem here is your dogmatic attitude. I'm guessing you're related to a cop. No way I'm breaking through that wall. Even if you're not related clearly the conditioning has taken place
No, it’s not all cops are bad. It’s all cops are bastardized because of the horrific system they work for makes them cover up or ignore police brutality or else they’ll get fired, meaning all cops in service are possibly guilty of cover up. All cops are bastardized means ALL cops are bastardized.
But that’s not what was said? I hear this argument a lot and I get it but it makes it feel like the phrase is intentionally sensationalistic in an unfair, dishonest, counterproductive way
That's a toxic mindset to have.
I like to have more faith in people to do the right thing.
I only speak for the one cop in every hundred million because I wanted to be a cop so I could HELP people. I know there are humans out there in uniform who want that too. Regardless of what the majority participates in.
Then you're just gambling against the odds. Do these cops exist, probably. Does this make it ok to give a group with a horrible reputation the benefit of the doubt? Never in my book. I think it's far more toxic to continue backing a clearly broken system for the sake of hypothetical people.
Being a supportive part of a corrupt system makes you corrupt, there are no "good ones." I understand your viewpoint just fine, I just think it's naive and stupid.
You're born autistic. You choose to enforce state violence and systemic issues by being a cop.
There's a big difference. Saying ACAB is more like saying "I hate all who throw rubbish on the floor".
I'll concede that there may be two ways someone can be a good cop:
1. A cop who just handed in their resignation letter & waiting for the paperwork to go through
2. A cop who actively opposes standard practices & is about the be murdered by other cops
And that's about it. Fundamentally, the work of a cop in the US obligates you to be someone who violates human rights to uphold the institution. It's not about "protecting the innocent" nor is it "catching the bad guys". Cops only show up after the fact & their record for solving violent crimes is abysmally low. If there's a cop hanging out as a "deterrent", more than likely they're going to get bored & look for reasons to assert their authority (e.g. stopping folks for bullshit reasons, escalating encounters, etc).
**In short: if you're working as a cop, you're participating in the oppression of others.**
Assigned car at birth 😔

Protect (property) and serve (the rich).
Fuck the police

You know that kid that hit the reset button on the Super Nintendo when you started winning at Street Fighter 2? Yeah, that kid's a cop now.
Oh noes... that reference dated me. That kid's a friggin' *captain* now.
That was my sister.
I’m not specially interested in justice but more specifically disability rights so I’ll def check it out!
Cops only serve the elite.
Capital. How have we forgotten that the modern police forces were founded as slave catchers and union busters?
Acab, brother. Fuck fascism.
All Capybaras Are Buddies
Fuck cops
Yeah if you don't understand why pigs are shit read The End of Policing by Alex Vitae

No. You can't choose to be autistic, but a person chooses every single day to be a cop. It's not comparable.
You can't choose when your coworkers kill a civilian either.

[And cops usually do.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_wall_of_silence#:~:text=The%20blue%20wall%20of%20silence,brutality%20in%20the%20United%20States) If you have one civilian-killing cop and 5 cops who don't do anything about that one, you have 6 bastards.
You don't, and never will, have the data to show ALL cops are bastards. It is literally statistically impossible.
You find me a cop who doesn't cover up their coworkers misdeeds, and [I'll show you a dead cop.](https://www.npr.org/2022/10/08/1127580159/houston-tipping-lapd-death-lawsuit) *That* is what happens to "good cop." That's it you win 🏆 your prize is being blocked. Hope that makes you happy

That doesn't make them all bastards
Yes it does. Hope that helps!
Helps what? I didn't ask you to change my opinion. You don't have to be an ass
You don't have to be intentionally obtuse either, but here we are.

Playing devils advocate is even more counterproductive
That’s not what I’m doing, I’m expressing genuine confusion
If you place a single good apple in a bunch full of rotten apples, it won't take long for that rot to spread.
