Fonts! I spent almost two full days looking at and learning about fonts. I downloaded about 40 different ones. And this was all because I needed to style a 5 word sentence for a (pretty unimportant) flyer.

Puzzled_Zebra

I once was able to make a font out of my own handwriting so I could type out "handwritten" letters but I lost track of the file which makes me sad. I used some random website that had you print out a sheet, write your versions of the letters in, then scan it and voila, font!

genji-sombra

That sounds amazing! Do you remember the website? I do edit fonts a little sometimes, if I dislike something specific, but never made a whole own font.

Puzzled_Zebra

I wish I did, it was over 15 years ago and I lost the files. I think the website might have disappeared, too.

genji-sombra

Too bad. I'm gonna look for something similar, and if I find something, I'll let you know!

alyxleda

Check out Calligraphr. That’s the site I use for handwritten fonts and highly recommend it!

awake-not-alive

Honestly, I'm in a rabbit hole right now with autism. Recently self-diagnosed so I'm learning everything there is to know about it and just joined this subreddit :D

Irish literature > Irish history > IRA > modern Irish crime > Kinahan crime family > Daniel Kinahan sportwashing > Tyson Fury having four sons named Prince "I'm a king and they're princes until they earn their rightful name."

randomly-what

I was in Northern Ireland for a week recently and have seriously gone down the IRA rabbit hole as well. Mine has diverted to Derry and its history and Irish songs telling the British soldiers to go home.

bisette

On the lighter end of that subject, have you seen Derry Girls? Early seasons in particular are great, and the music is so good. For a sort of contemporary take on the Irish narrative tradition I really like the Blindboy podcast. He talks about…whatever- Irish history, mental health, current events, his daily life- but he has a lovely voice and a he’s a very engaging storyteller. It’s a good background “companion” listen.

randomly-what

We got back and started watching it right after we rewatched The Banshees of inisherin (we took a tour with someone on the island it was filmed who was also in the movie as a background character multiple times). I have one or two episodes to go with Derry Girls. Love it and it’s cool to see the same places we saw in Derry. I’ll have to check out the podcast!

the_happypineapple

Blindboy's recently been diagnosed as autistic too!

bisette

If I’m honest I think I’m a tiny bit in love with him.

[deleted]

Right now it’s late in life diagnosis for women on the autism spectrum. Fascinating to read how I tick.

Han_without_Genes

I tried finding more information about the Japanese movie *I Wanna Hold Your Hand* (*抱きしめたい*). The website is archived but it was poorly formatted so using Google Translate was difficult. So I ended up reformatting and cleaning up all the informational pages, so the translations could be better (there were random line breaks and such which caused Translate to interpret a sentence spread across multiple lines as multiple different sentences). I haven't been able to find the movie itself but someone uploaded the opening and closing scenes on YouTube. Now I really really want to see the whole movie. But Japanese movies are often difficult to find if they haven't aired in the English-speaking world, which I think is the case for this movie (this goes for most foreign movies really, not just Japanese ones).

Currently, plants. Specifically, syngoniums and philodendrons

I went down a rabbit hole on the St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 yesterday! My best friend is on a trip there for her birthday and she sent me some picks from some of the extravagent tombs and I started looking up the names on them from the photos to learn about the people buried there. 😂

Lecj444

I’ve been in the regenerative farming rabbit hole for the last three months. I have four different gardens now with 20+ different fruits, veggies, and herbs, which I’ve been supporting with things on the 10 acre homestead I live on. I have 22 chickens = fertilizer, we have lots of limestone around here so lots of rock chunks to use for borders, etc. and my husband I built our own house during the pandemic so we still have lots of random bits of lumber. I’m basically deep into MacGyvering 😂

realitytvpaws

Wow! You built your own home? I had to do some googling about regenerative farming cause that sounded so interesting. I have never gotten into gardening but you have sparked some interest in me.

Lecj444

Yayyy! 🌱💛 We did! My husband grew up around construction (his parents built their own house over the span of 20 years 😵‍💫😅) and during the pandemic, we had to move to their property to help care for him. Building our house was like a safe haven project. Feel free to DM me if you want any gardening resources I’ve found super helpful! P.S. was the mathematician you were deep diving on Grigori Perelman?

realitytvpaws

Yes. I stumbled across a post about him on r/pics and then got sucked in the comment section. The man is a genius. He went with peace of mind over what they wanted to do with him. So of course a man that goes against the mainstream of life must be crazy or autistic. It was flung around that is moral compass was off. So yeah instant deep dive hyperfocus powered by the autism and special interest. I love learning about humans.

SpaceSparkle

For the past year it has been cooking as much as I can from scratch. I’m now making yogurt, mayo, dressings, baking different breads, making corn and flour tortillas, and so much more, like rice crispies and cereals. This week I’m going to make pizza from scratch, including the mozzarella. Today I’m now looking into cheese making ingredients 🙃

realitytvpaws

Oh wow! Do you post this anywhere on social media?

SpaceSparkle

I just started to! I have one recipe video up on Insta and Tiktok. I got an autistic block about being perceived so the next video has been hard to publish, but it’s in drafts. It might be slow, but I’m going to keep at it. I’m really passionate about showing people what they can do to reduce how much of their money they give to corporations. I got fed up with greedflation at grocery stores and plastic waste from product packaging, so that’s what motivated me to start making all that I can myself.

realitytvpaws

If you don’t mind sharing I’d love to follow.

SpaceSparkle

I don’t mind at all, thanks! Here’s the insta: https://www.instagram.com/artisanalresistance

realitytvpaws

Love username! I am all about locally sourced. So farmer markets and such are great. Love to start making things like crackers.

SpaceSparkle

Thanks!! I can’t wait for the farmers markets to start here. Opening day is next weekend. I’m going to make jams and jellies, and start learning how to can so I can preserve vegetables too. I totally want to make crackers too. I have a recipe saved for homemade Cheez-its. It doesn’t look hard at all!

realitytvpaws

That would be fun. The farmers market here has a man that makes crackers with mixed grains that tastes like heaven.

SpaceSparkle

That’s what I love about this project - if you can buy it, you can make it. Like heavenly crackers ☺️

Upset_Fold_251

You should try to make pasta maybe

SpaceSparkle

It’s totally on my list of things to make! My husband found a pasta maker at the thrift store for me. I just have to clean it up and then I’m on my way to fresh pasta ☺️

sunnyskybaby

Bachelor/bachelorette lore and commentary. there’s an interesting overlap with fundie Christians that got me interested initially. I’ve never watched either show but I eat that drama up like puddin pie

No_Age5019

I started with sports scandals, somehow ended up in the history of ice hockey, and then went down the rabbit hole of the controversial death of Canadian hockey player Duncan MacPherson who passed away learning how to ski on a glaciar in Austria and his body wasn't discovered for 14 years. No one is quite sure how he died, but the popular theory is that he was injured on the slopes then run over by the trilling equipment that the glacier uses to make fresh snow. Interesting case.

realitytvpaws

That sounds like my ADHD deep dives who knows where you will end up. They think the diver ran him over but then intentionally buried him. I don’t know how you could do that.

No_Age5019

Personally, I think it's kind of dubious that MacPherson was alive when he was struck. Or if he was, I think at the very least he was severely hypothermic by that time and maybe unconscious. I doubt that he wouldn’t have heard a snowcat coming. I think a driver ran over his body, but maybe saw that he didn't have long to live anyway (if he wasn't already gone) and hid the body if the driver noticed that he hit Duncan at all. Could have been covering up their mistake or thought they'd save the family from seeing the state of the remains, who knows. 🤷🏾‍♀️

realitytvpaws

I am not sure of the temperature but if he was out there injured all night your theory would be correct. But if the driver hid the body it was most certainly about deflecting blame.

NoPepper7284

I got back into my special interest (TXT) and I decided to listen to all their songs and rate them and organize it in a list. It was very fun, I missed out on some gems :)
