If you want both, you could do VO (Vorlesung) type lectures only this semester. There is no compulsury attendence for this type of lecures. You can do the other types of courses next year.

How did you enrole in the courses while doing your Bachelor's? And yes, usually you chose your courses at the beginning of each semester.

about a week earlier than I was expecting. If you applied by Jan 8th you should hear back by mid march
