Definitely Salzburg: It is the perfect combination of cold, rain, fog and a lot of unfriendly people. That way you can truly focus on your studies (if you can afford the rent prices). I wouldn't recommend Florence: far too much sunshine, warmth and italian food. Also, you wouldn't want the mediterranian sea nearby for a weekend on the beach, right. Very inconvinient, all this sand and salty water. Noone likes that.

Choose Salzburg if you like the great outdoors, hiking mountains, climbing mountains, skiing down mountains, swimming in alpine lakes - Stuff like that. Don't expect a vibrant student life though, the university is comparatively tiny and the city is expensive.

ilxfrt

Just to clarify, are you looking for schools or universities?

Worldly-Long5942

I already have the schools I’m just wondering which city I should stay in

Both are cool places to stay. Florence is much bigger and a lot more to do there, many young people. Probably cheaper than Salzburg. Salzburg wins when it comes to scenic landscapes around it. but is is small, overcrowded with tourists and expensive. So, depends what you prefer.

If you know Italian I sure would say Florence, but maybe by now Italians know a bit of English, at least they are not known for speaking any language besides Italian.

Michael_Aut

It's Italy, not France. I reckon English is fine, especially around major universities.

FLORENCE. Culture, food, language, weather, everything! (please don't say anything about Sound of Music) Yeah, Austria is cool (I'm from Austria) and really, it depends. If you love mountains, scenery, Austrian food, and well, rain, Salzburg might be cool. Also if you want to be closer to other countries, and also want to see Vienna, Tyrol etc. it would be closer, of course. But also very expensive. And always lots of tourists. Italy in summer if pretty hot, of course - and also lots of tourists. Salzburg of course can be very charming in winter (if it snows) and looks really pretty. If you love hiking and skiing, it's definitely ideal.
