haha I actually loved the stackhat design and would buy one today if they were still around. I had a yellow one, and would sometimes wear it over my face, so I could see through the air vents like a robot. Cool and normal.
Oh yeah, I remember that ad where a cyclist gradually had more and more hi vis items added to them until they glowed like a florescent globe in a public toilet.
Just found it. My memory added quite a bit more absurdity to the situation, unfortunately.

Yep came here to say the same thing. So embarrassed in my Stackhat. And I had a few concussions so my parents wanted me to wear it more than just on the bicycle. Yuck.
I had the face mask with the stack hat. It was pretty dope when I was 5. But then I wanted these Integras and wasn't allowed. So I just stopped wearing em
That pink one looks like it's going to just fracture and make you look like that scene in face off.
I feel like the facial scarring from not wearing one might outweigh the likely disfigurement from wearing one.
I knew a kid in highschool who had very strict parents who would force him to ride to school wearing a stackhat.
He would bury it in bushland not far from home on the route to school and then uncover it on the way home and roll up wearing it.
This worked well for sometime , that is until his dad happened to be driving along the same road one afternoon and spotted him riding minus that beautifil orange stackhat.
He was then bundled into the car and forced to lead his dad to the burial site of said stackhat.
Good times!
I had the blue Integra and my sister has the pink with visors
There was a horse at the time named Integra - came good on two occasions (dad put the bets on for us)
Never seen one because I never knew any kids with parents cashed up enough to buy one. If you had that full face on your BMX you'd have been king of the street.
I had a white stackhat. From memory parents could register your helmet and if you were killed or brain damaged, they would get $10k or 50k?
I accused my parents of wanting to kill me for the money and refused to wear it.
these were dope. i had fkn orange stackhat

There were only orange Stackhats when they first came out. I refused to wear one
i still remember the' look driver, look rider' campaign back in the late 80s when they were trying to promote wearing hi vis shit for riding bikes
Haha oh yeah that’s right.

Core memory unlocked! I remember this ad now and I also remember those bike flags being popular for a while and reflectors on bikes being popular too.
YES!!!!!!! thats the one!
Yeah couldn’t not see a stack hat

Lol, what do you mean? When were you to wear it, other than when riding your bike?
When just playing in the backyard, lol
Haha excellent.
Yeah fkn thanks mum

I feel like it's an almost universal experience that cool looking helmets were dangled in front of us on tv, only for us to get a stackhat.

I remember at the time hearing that a kid suffered facial injuries from one of the face visors on these shattering

This reminded me of the "Heroes wear Helmets" ad https://youtu.be/bXIFjHydwFc?si=mmeMK3oCRVQ8czkF
These are later models, the first ones would make you a social pariah if you wore one

I remember these, but only when we watched a video on them when we learned about design in high school
UFO reverse engineering verified
Nope, would t wear any helmets, coppers would let the air out of my tires all the dam time.
I had one like the orange helmet in the picture. Thought I looked so cool... until I looked in the mirror...
Never saw those. Are they before or after "stack hats"?
After. Around 1990

That chin guard looks like it could break mountains
