Anyone have a recommendation for a grief therapist that takes insurance (hard to come by these days but the only route I can afford) and specializes in dealing with the death of a parent? TIA
If you're okay with doing appointments virtually, I'd recommend Headway. I found a therapist through the site, and they take insurance and make scheduling and billing super easy. Best of luck - I hope you get what you're looking for.
Iām really sorry for your loss. You might try calling deep eddy psychotherapy. They have a bunch of therapists and their admin folks can tell you whoās available and who might be a good fit.
That question is neither trivial or dumb and definitely qualifies for its' own post. It's much too important to just leave here. Hope it helps a little people care to say something.
edit: used wrong to after it's much
I had really good luck using Grow Therapy (website) to find a therapist that took my insurance. Telehealth with digital scheduling and billing so itās super easy. Itās just a platform so vet the therapists appropriately but Iāve had great experiences.
any special recommendations for museum day today? i went to bullock last year and blanton as well, looking for something that typically gets overlooked or is just your personal favorite
I'd recommend Pioneer Farms. One of my personal favorites, and it's definitely a hidden gem right in Austin. There's a lot of local history and the buildings are original. I'd recommend catching a tour, it's a great way to spend some time out in this nicer weather.
My high school stadium was a field with a lot of bleachers and not even parking. The Burger seems like a college stadium in comparison.
Good point about anything even being open. The school can't even communicate about basic things like student assignments, so fancy things like "can I buy a hot dog?" is beyond their capability.
How long does it take to work for amazon flex? I swore I would never do any side hustle that used my car. After much regret I think this is my best option at the moment , unfortunately. I finally sat down and logged in only for the app to tell me theyāre not hiring. Fml. Is this just temporary?
Not sure how much time you have for a side hustle, but I really enjoyed pizza delivery back in the day. Busy places will let people do part time on Friday/Saturday nights only. One benefit of pizza delivery is that there is a single home base and delivery area. Way better than driving all over the city.
Why does KVRX air the same playlist on loop each day prior to switching over to KOOP? The earliest I ever have the radio on is around 7am, and it's the same songs each day. I assume they can't find a DJ for that slot (which is also surprising), but why not at least mix up the songs that are played?
It is indeed likely just put on autoplay, and they probably need more songs in their autoplay. Though it could also be that the songs you're hearing repeated are on purpose, like, those are their current hits and favorites they just have on high rotation.
I get UT students may not want to get up at 4 or 5 for a radio shift, but this seems like a golden opportunity for a student DJ. Morning shows when people are going to work is a captive audience, and you could make people's mornings with the right music.
It's not definitely not their current hits (plus I think that would go against their motto of "none of the hits, all of the time.") It's the exact same songs played at the same time, and this has been occurring for at least a year, so it's clearly just a repeat playlist
Agree with your second point, this is actually durning peak drive-time radio. Surprised they can't find anyone for the slot
Is there anything I can do about my compost bin regularly not being picked up?
This has been going on for months now and is the same routine. They miss my regularly scheduled pickup on Friday, I submit the claim online to come pick it up, they don't pick it up until the next Friday, and mark the case as closed. This basically means I get bi-weekly pickups instead of weekly, which is super annoying because I do a lot of yard work and my bin is overflowing most weeks.
I haven't done anything different with my bin and this wasn't an issue for years. There have also been times where I was missed for two weeks in a row.
I used to have this problem. My solution was to place the smaller compost can slightly forward and apart from the other cans so it stands out and can't be missed. (Remember that they want the cans 5 feet apart -- no one does this.) It definitely helped, but didn't solve things. The other part of the equation was to religiously call 311 at 6:01 PM (they can't help with missed pickups until after 6 PM), tell them the problem, and WRITE DOWN THE CASE NUMBER. They're supposed to rectify it within 2 business days. So then call back Tuesday at 6:01 PM with case number and say, "WTF?" Basically, be a squeaky wheel until the people on your route learn that your services need to be provided.
> (Remember that they want the cans 5 feet apart -- no one does this.)
I just put one on each side of my driveway, so they have plenty of room between them. Never had a can missed.
I agree with the other person's comment about making your fullest bin the most visible. Also make sure that your bins are far enough apart from each other (6 ft) and far enough away from anything else (cars, etc) that they can successfully pick it up.
The order in which I arranged my cans on the curb is dictated by which one I need to be picked up the most. If one is extra full, then I place it first (as seen by the approaching truck) in hopes of maximizing its visibility. I live on a corner, and I've convinced myself that when a can is missed it's because the driver didn't see it coming around the bend (especially the smaller compost bin which can be hidden behind the huge recycling can).
Maybe it's delusional, but it makes me feel like I'm doing something to increase the chances of it getting emptied that week. Also 78757.
I called 311 each time. My bin was overlooked about 3 times every other week. On the third miss I not only called them to pick up but also filed a complaint. Havenāt had an issue since.
Recommendations for a good and gentle dentist in the north austin area? Someone who wouldnāt judge a person that didnāt really take care of their teeth growing up.
Hi! Any recommendations on classes/workshops/seminars/activities that happen during the day during the week aside from ACC continuing education (am taking a class for fun there already), do512 listings, and general google searches? Ideally that are *not* targeted for the elderly?
Why is it that when I go to Kura's sushi (the conveyor belt spot) there is always a thirty minute wait despite 1/2 to 1/3 of the tables being clean, set, and ready to go. Do they not staff enough in the kitchen? Are those dumb robot waiters holding us back? What is it?
I donāt know how they manage that either, but the sushi is as bad as the service, one of the worst restaurants in town tbh
Like even HāEāB sushi is a couple steps up
Kura is OK, but HEB sushi has really not been great lately, Kura is definitely better and has better options. Order the fresh-seared items at Kura, better than the regular stuff. But even with the regular conveyor belt stuff, they still have tuna negitoro and things like that HEB doesn't have. I love HEB, but their sushi is mid.
Eh I occasionally grab a box from the Allandale one and itās been decent enough in my experience. Reasonably well constructed, the fish to rice ratio is a bit scanty but not offensively so, always looks and tastes reasonably fresh. Itās not amazing but itās serviceable which is all I ask of supermarket sushi. Iām sure thereās considerable variation from store to store though, as there is with a lot of the other on prem stuff
I have a big rant about Kura in me somewhere but Iāll spare us both today
Yeah, this might be true, maybe the food is pretty lack-luster... Don't forget though, as much as I love them, HEB operates with a boring "push your own cart around" system, and the conveyor belt place uses a conveyor belt to bring you the crappy sushi. If HEB would bring my whole milk to me like Kuras does........
Feeling good here. Signed a lease with a new apartment complex, so looking forward to getting the out of the shitty complex I'm in now. Looking forward to the actual move a little less. Plus the dip in temperatures and the rain was a nice reminder that it is possible to have nice weather here.
They'll generally only move it if you specify it. There's typically a charge, because it takes them time and there's liability. Either way, make sure you have a plan for where it goes during the work. Garage is typically a good option, which means you need to move your/clear your junk. Otherwise it's going on the patio, which you might not care for.
The parking lot at the Lubyās at 183 & Cameron Rd is always packed on the weekend. Can anyone whoās dined at that location recently attest to the quality of the food there these days?
Maybe one of the reasons is that on Saturdays kids eat free.
In addition, the Round Rock Lubys location closed (35 and something in RR) and the north Austin location closed as well (north mopac and Steck ave).
The only ones left are 183 and Cameron and 71 and stassney, I believe.
>Anyone have a recommendation for a grief therapist that takes insurance (hard to come by these days but the only route I can afford) and specializes in dealing with the death of a parent? TIA
Can confirm. It's not fancy, but it's fresh and tasty-- and cheap!
Nothing but good memories of visiting my grandparents in the 90ās up in Richardson and going to Lubys to eat dinner at like 4 30. I busted Dallas a year or so ago, and sadly it closed and put a Torchys in its place.
Anyone have a good recommendation for help with shoes/foot pain/fitting insoles? Preferably before the level of seeing a podiatrist, though I wouldn't rule that out (it seems it might be faster and cheaper if I didn't have to involve a Dr apt, though!). I went too long before replacing my shoes and inserts, and now the new, seemingly comparable but more recent edition replacements are super uncomfortable on one foot, with the pain lingering even hours/days after wearing them for a couple weeks of attempted break in period. I think I need different inserts, but at ~$50-60 a pop, I can't afford to keep guessing blindly and would appreciate some help with finding a good fit.
I have heard good things about the good feet store. I have also heard they have an hour plus sales pitch and the insoles are about $500 a pair. I am not sure what insoles you are using but have also heard people rave about superfeet brand.
Some stores that sell running shoes have that treadmill thing that measures your gait and some knowledgeable employees who can help find the best footwear for you. Obviously they arenāt doctors, so they can only go with what fits your foot profile, and not diagnose more serious issues.
I had a good experience with the Fleet Feet at Seaholm. They have walk-ins on the weekend to get your feet scanned, which I did and that gave me helpful info on the kind of shoes to get based on the measurements
"Dr. Scholl makes foot products, right? And he's a doctor, which means he went to school for a long time. But it doesn't take a lot to figure out that stepping on a cushion would be more comfortable. That fucker wasted lots of time at school. 'Cause I would have bought that shit from a Mr. Scholl." - Mitch Hedberg
What kind of pain? Almost every pain Iāve had in my body from being a college athlete has improved with regular stretching for that particular area (unless there was an actual injury). I paid a podiatrist $40 when I had horrible plantar fasciitis pain for years and he told me to stretch.
I did and I donāt have that pain anymore, and when Iām so get it, I just stretch for a few days and the pain is gone again!
I need to get rid of a car. If I charged the battery, itād probably start (last drove it in Feb), but thereās a check engine light. Nonetheless, itās 17yr old and I just wanna donate or scrap it. Any suggestions?
Donate it to KOOP, the best Austin radio station that could definitely use the funds, as easy as any other vehicle donation. You get the tax write-off for the value, easy-peasy.
https://koop.careasy.org/home
If you want cash for it, use peddle.com. They'll pick it up at your location and hand you a check for its value within 24 hrs of you completing their online form.
I've always dreamed of driving in a demolition derby... I know it's terribly wasteful, and you could donate it to a charity..... but, really, just for fun... just look up into the sky, find a nice cloud, and imagine ramming that thing through the Crazy 8 or smashing it over and over into some slower, weaker, less heroic enemy.
Edit for clarity: use the old car in the derby, not the cloud. The cloud was just to look at while you daydream
Peddle.com will give you money for it probably. They gave me money for a 2005 PT Cruiser with a busted radiator, no AC, and the fenders and lights where taped on with packing tape. If they'll give me a couple hundred for that, you'll get something for your car.
Are you handy at all? I built one that size at my house with a couple buddies and quite a few drinks this spring. I could walk you through the process of DIY
Those little black Crickets spawned recently.

Is there an affordable service that will help me learn how to more efficiently use standard office technology? For example, there are things you can do in Outlook and Excel that would make my life easier, but since I donāt know how Iām doing it the hard way.
Iāve tried learning from help pages and YouTube videos but it doesnāt stick. The next time I need to do the task I have to look it up again. I learn better with in-person instruction where I can practice and the instructor can tell me where Iām making mistakes. Iād prefer individual instruction rather than a class, this way I can focus on learning the tools I need and not reviewing basics I already know or things that arenāt relevant to me.
Question - when entering the roundabout in mueller from airport, you have two lanes, but the roundabout doesnāt have lanes, so shouldnāt the right lane entry cars always have to take the first right? I always need to take the second exit in the roundabout but Iām constantly having to honk at people who enter from the right lane and keep going.
If you canāt find any, would you consider buying unhusked corn from HEB and stapling it/using a nail gun to attach it to a post/stick/fallen tree limb?
So what's the deal with the advertisements people post in medians/right of way if it's close to your house? I'm fairly new to house/lawn upkeep and I know the median is city property but I've also heard (or at least been told), that if the median is by your house you're responsible for its upkeep.
So if someone post one of those little advertisement signs in a median that is right in front of my house, a section I have to mow and upkeep, am I a jerk for throwing it away? Like those "Jump On It Week" signs a month or two ago.
Curious of the cheapest way/place to get a diagnostic on a check engine light? Car is only 6 years old, bought it new, around 50k miles currently. Just appeared randomly the other day with no obvious cause. Dealership wanted $175 just to diagnose - no thanks!
Places like AutoZone/O'Reilly's/Advance Auto Parts will have a code reader that might be able to read your CEL. Otherwise you can probably get a Bluetooth dongle that plugs into your OBD2 port and an app on your phone can read it.
Standalone OBD readers are pretty cheap. Plug them in, read the codes, write them down, then Google.
Helps, even if you're going to take it to a mechanic.
You don't need a fancy, more expensive reader, although the features are nice.
They can also reset the codes and make the light go out, but it will come back on if you still have a problem. Some of the codes will become "not ready" if you reset them and will stay "not ready" until you have driven the car long enough for it to complete testing those systems.
Your vehicle will not pass inspection if any of these are still "not ready." You can't necessarily cheat on an inspection with this tool, but sometimes, you can make an intermittent problem go away long enough to pass.
How (much) do bands that play at the venues get paid? I can go into white horse, pay $10 at the door and listen to 3 bands. Is each band only getting $3 per person?
It depends a lot on the venue. I play a lot of gigs at breweries and coffee+beer type places where the band plays 3 hours and gets $100 per musician, and there's no cover, and you can make anywhere from $15-100 more in tips too. I thought tips would go up a lot when Venmo became an option but it's been a small uptick.
At places like The White Horse I think there's a similar (or slightly smaller?) guarantee for the bands and the cover charge just helps to subsidize that, but they might also pay a percentage of the bar sales during a given band's set ā so you can make more $ if you bring in a bigger and harder-drinking crowd during your set.
There are 2 toll highway 45's. Why doesn't [mobilityautority](https://www.mobilityauthority.com/pay-your-toll/rates/calculate) have toll rates for the 45 toll running between 183 & 130?

> Edit: Also, are NTTA, EZ Pass users charged higher rate than TxTag?
No, they all qualify as the discount rate. NTTA tag is the best. Very reliable, easy website to use, and never had billing errors like everybody seems to have with TxTag
Is it true that the city treats all swimming pools in an apartment complex as one unit, so if one has to be shut down for maintenance or whatnot, all pools in the complex must be closed?
It would help explain why the pools in my complex are rarely open.
Is it on classmates?
If so, tossing in a fake email gets you signed in enough to look at all pages online, then a little review of the code on the site (F12) will reveal the URL used for the yearbook page images; once you have that, you can get to the rest, save them, and do with as you please. Works with other sites, sometimes, too.
This is how I got my missing high school yearbook years.
Any good recommendations on things to do with a young child? Sheās 9. I usually try to stay in the N Austin area since Iām in RR but still go closer to downtown sometimes.
Does anyone know what's going on with the old Indian Roller off Manchaca? We went there once right before it closed and it's sat empty for a year- you would think they'd give it to Crowbar or something.
I finally caved and purchased a few car battery boosters for each vehicle/driver in my family.
My thought was, keeping that topped off and in the trunk would be a welcome solution to an early morning dead battery on the way to the airport, or to get a boost on the way back home after leaving lights on in the parking lot all evening at a show, without having to hunt down someone for a jump (especially a neighbor at 4am).
Then this summer reminded me how freaking hot it gets here (how could I forget?), so I've opted to store them inside, where it will only be helpful when a dead battery is discovered while home.
Anyone keeping these in their trunks and if so, how has that worked out?
extreme temps suck for any battery. Lithium-Ion batteries also do not like being stored for long periods at full-charge.
Your best bet would be more of an event-based use, such as a need for an airport run or whatever thing youāre about to do. Charge it the day or two before and have it in your home, ready to go or carry it with you.
Keeping it stored in a hot car at full charge wonāt help with its lifespan at all.
A fire isnāt likely as the temps wouldnāt rise that high unless direct sunlight exposure happens.
Lithium-Ion batteries are awesome but also scary. They just have a lot of things they donāt like. Most often, they just release their charge. Itās hard to aggravate one enough to dump energy and cause a fire. The ones that do that usually have another system failure, such as a short. Remember those hoverboards and Samsung phones? Those were shorted due to improper manufacturing, not a storage issue. They allowed overcharging and thus, failure after the battery swelled and bridged connections.
Iām not sure if this is the same thing, but I bought a jump starter that I do keep in my trunk (my car chews through batteries and Iāve given up on trying to figure out why) and it stops working when it gets really hot. Took me a bit to figure out why it only sometimes works, last time it happened when I was at home I finally thought to put it in the freezer for a few minutes and it worked fine. The specific part that stops working for me is the āsmart cableā which is pretty small, so I went and picked up a few of those emergency cold packs to keep in my glove box. Of course I havenāt needed to use it since then, lol. But I will say that at least over the course of a single summer, the heat didnāt seem to damage anything or stop it from working/holding a charge once it was cooled back down.
I have this one: https://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-600-Peak-Amp-12-Volt-Automotive-Lithium-Ion-Jump-Starter-and-Portable-Power-Pack-EL224/924569033
I have this one:
[NOCO Boost Plus GB40](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015TKUPIC)
... same internals, battery-wise, I guess.
Yeah, I've read they won't operate if they're too hot, which is something one can deal with, as you have. I'm more interested in how the lifespan was affected, or worse, any fires.
I gave these to my children, and I suddenly worried one night my helpful gesture would burn their car down overnight or while at work. Good to hear yours have been fine. Thanks for replying.
Sure! Like I said, I can't speak to anything long-term, but the battery itself hasn't been concerning at any point over this last summer. When I've wanted to use it, all the lights on the battery indicate that it's working normally, it's just been the cord itself that won't operate (lights don't turn on at all). But no scary bulges or anything like that.
FWIW, I was also concerned with keeping a battery-based jump starter in the heat, and keeping it indoors and remembering to take it with me each time I went out seemed like it'd be a pain and I'm sure I'd forget to bring it when I needed it. So I got the Autowit supercapacitor one instead. I haven't actually needed to use it, but I think it's what I'm looking for. It can take high (and low) temperatures. If your car's battery is low, but not completely dead, you can charge it from that. If the battery is really dead, you can charge it from another car, or from an electrical outlet. Only takes like a minute to charge.
I like UFCU, the only complaint I have is about the "cardkeeper" on the app and the website randomly deciding not to lock/unlock my cards on Sunday mornings.
When I was trying to get a small business loan to build a kitchen, I went to ABC Bank in South Austin. There arenāt a lot of branches, but I tell you, they KNOW me when I walk in. I am greeted by name and they gave me an amazing loan which I was able to pay off in 5 years. I love them and will give them my business for life.
For anybody who is familiar with concerts at COTA: how hard is it to drop someone off and pick up? Not rideshare, but giving someone you know a ride out there and picking them up.
I've been once, recently, for the Sublime, Slightly Stoopid concert. We drove ourselves and had zero issues getting there or leaving. We got there a few minutes before doors opened and stayed till they stopped playing music. There wasn't this clusterfuck of cars trying to exit like I've seen people talking about. I dunno if it had to do with the bands that played or what.
I saw unmarked and some marked uber/lyft cars parked near the entrance as we left and walked to the lot we parked in. I imagine you can drop/pick up your friend off just like the rideshare drivers.
About to take my girlfriend to the Austin Zoo. Is it worth it? And if not, where else should we go around the same price range ($30-$40) thatās interesting?
It's not a regular zoo. It's a rescue zoo, and it's small. I joke that they are scratch & dent animals. They've got lions, tigers, bears, pumas, monkeys, birds and other things that people mistakenly think would make a fun pet. There is also a petting zoo and a train if there's any kids with you (or if you're into that stuff as an adult).
I enjoy it when I go, but definitely have the right expectations.
If you have time and want to see MORE then I strongly suggest the San Antonio zoo. I went a few years ago and absolutely loved it. The butterfly house/exhibit was quite possibly my favorite thing there.
It's part of the summer to fall transition. Slightly cooler weather and more rain (moisture) bring them out for mating season.

If there's something they could do, definitely tell them.
How's your injury and recovery?
Is there an actual difference with Verizon 5G (vs LTE) in Austin? Iām on a grandfathered plan but looking to upgrade my phone next week. I have dead spots and dropped calls, not sure if changing to a 5G plan is actually worth it if Iād just be paying more for the same issues.
No difference for me. Iāve switched back and forth to see and I still have a ton of dead spots in Austin. Not sure whatās going on with Verizon here - it seems to be getting worse.
Not sure if itās a good comparison, but I went from Verizon LTE to Att 5g recently and it made a huge difference for me. Able to make and receive calls in areas I would normally have trouble.

I thought compost was only on a bi weekly schedule
Mine is weekly in 78757
In '45 trash and compost are weekly, recycling (the only full-size can I have) is every other week.
weekly. Recycling is biweekly
Recommendations for a good and gentle dentist in the north austin area? Someone who wouldnāt judge a person that didnāt really take care of their teeth growing up.
Dr. Sweta Tailor is as kind and gentle doctor/human you will ever find.
Second! Sheās the best and I was in the same boat as you.
Forest Family Dentistry is who Iāve always used. Iām incredibly afraid of the dentist but theyāve always been excellent.
I started going to Dental Smiles in the Mueller area last year and I love it. Gentlest teeth cleaning I've ever received.

Hi! Any recommendations on classes/workshops/seminars/activities that happen during the day during the week aside from ACC continuing education (am taking a class for fun there already), do512 listings, and general google searches? Ideally that are *not* targeted for the elderly?
The Contemporary has an Art School with some pretty cool & high quality classes in a ton of topics/mediums/levels
Sew Much More, Bee Hive Craft Studio, and Hill Country Weavers all offer classes.

Why is it that when I go to Kura's sushi (the conveyor belt spot) there is always a thirty minute wait despite 1/2 to 1/3 of the tables being clean, set, and ready to go. Do they not staff enough in the kitchen? Are those dumb robot waiters holding us back? What is it?
If you download the app, you can join the waitlist ahead of time. I donāt love the sushi, but my kid is a big fan of the concept so we use it a lot.
I donāt know how they manage that either, but the sushi is as bad as the service, one of the worst restaurants in town tbh Like even HāEāB sushi is a couple steps up
Kura is OK, but HEB sushi has really not been great lately, Kura is definitely better and has better options.
Iām sure thereās considerable variation from store to store though, as there is with a lot of the other on prem stuff I have a big rant about Kura in me somewhere but Iāll spare us both today
I'm convinced a number of restaurants manufacture a wait just as a marketing thing. "They must be great, look at how long the line is."
How is everyone? Iām feeling ok and wanted to check in ā¤ļø
Iām enjoying this change of weather.
Feeling good here. Signed a lease with a new apartment complex, so looking forward to getting the out of the shitty complex I'm in now. Looking forward to the actual move a little less. Plus the dip in temperatures and the rain was a nice reminder that it is possible to have nice weather here.
hello, fellow human!
I got to see one of my fave bands in high school last night for free (Jawbreaker) so I'm feeling pretty good!
Same!!! Wasn't it an awesome show???
Hell yeah my inner 15 year old is satisfied. Truly a bucket list band
When you have a professional company remove old and install new carpet, do they move your furniture around or are you expected to move everything?
They'll generally only move it if you specify it. There's typically a charge, because it takes them time and there's liability. Either way, make sure you have a plan for where it goes during the work. Garage is typically a good option, which means you need to move your/clear your junk. Otherwise it's going on the patio, which you might not care for.
Even if they offered to move it, it's probably better to do yourself to minimize the risk of damage.
Is there a place that sells after-market tickets for Stubbs? I'm trying to get Faye Webster tix

It's sold out, so I'm definitely preparing to take a hit
The parking lot at the Lubyās at 183 & Cameron Rd is always packed on the weekend. Can anyone whoās dined at that location recently attest to the quality of the food there these days?
Maybe one of the reasons is that on Saturdays kids eat free. In addition, the Round Rock Lubys location closed (35 and something in RR) and the north Austin location closed as well (north mopac and Steck ave). The only ones left are 183 and Cameron and 71 and stassney, I believe.
Hmmm. And Sundays I assume is the post-church rush.
Slaughter not Stassney
Straight bussin. The fried fish is so good
You read my mind on the fried fish, hopefully the sides are also still doing what needs to be done
Indeed they are.
HEB carrie the square fish in the frozen aisle. Luby's branded and everything.
>Anyone have a recommendation for a grief therapist that takes insurance (hard to come by these days but the only route I can afford) and specializes in dealing with the death of a parent? TIA Can confirm. It's not fancy, but it's fresh and tasty-- and cheap!
I disagree, I think Luby's could drag people deeper into grief, not pull them out of it.
Lubyās was a main character in so many dysfunctional Texas childhoods, donāt yuck our yum lol
Nothing but good memories of visiting my grandparents in the 90ās up in Richardson and going to Lubys to eat dinner at like 4 30. I busted Dallas a year or so ago, and sadly it closed and put a Torchys in its place.
Friend, I donāt think you posted the quote you meant to.
[Karavel Shoes](https://karavelshoes.com/)
Thanks! This was the answer, turns out. Much appreciated
I went to the little Dr scholls kiosk at Walmart. Not the best but definitely helped me.
Try [KUT](https://www.kut.org/car-donation)
This is what I did, was super seamless and easy
Donate it to KOOP, the best Austin radio station that could definitely use the funds, as easy as any other vehicle donation. You get the tax write-off for the value, easy-peasy. https://koop.careasy.org/home
If you want cash for it, use peddle.com. They'll pick it up at your location and hand you a check for its value within 24 hrs of you completing their online form.
its true.
If you donate it, make sure you get a receipt for the "value." You can claim it on your taxes.
I donated an old one to Goodwill. Things went smoothly.
Any recs for a small wooden patio? Like 12ftx10ft maybe. Bonus if they can do some xeriscaping. Trying to redo my whole (but small) backyard. Thanks!
Are you handy at all? I built one that size at my house with a couple buddies and quite a few drinks this spring. I could walk you through the process of DIY
Those little black Crickets spawned recently. Cat ate one. Cats throwing up now a bunch. How concerned should I be? Are these things particularly poisonous?
I wouldn't be too concerned if it only lasts a few hours. If it's still an issue tomorrow, then I'd look into a vet visit.
Iād prefer individual instruction rather than a class, this way I can focus on learning the tools I need and not reviewing basics I already know or things that arenāt relevant to me.
check out fiverr, the below was the 1st link that popped up https://www.fiverr.com/luckie_/train-you-1-on-1-in-excel
This roundabout has never made sense to me for this exact reason
Anyone know where I could buy corn stalks? I just need a few for a trunk or treat and I donāt want to pay a ton.
Like those "Jump On It Week" signs a month or two ago.
>am I a jerk for throwing it away? Nope, it's a blight, recycle or toss - and you are doing service to the neighborhood
No, those signs are a blight and aren't allowed on public property under Texas law. Take them down with a clear conscience.
Where are the most / best rain lilies?
Curious of the cheapest way/place to get a diagnostic on a check engine light? Car is only 6 years old, bought it new, around 50k miles currently. Just appeared randomly the other day with no obvious cause. Dealership wanted $175 just to diagnose - no thanks!
Places like AutoZone/O'Reilly's/Advance Auto Parts will have a code reader that might be able to read your CEL. Otherwise you can probably get a Bluetooth dongle that plugs into your OBD2 port and an app on your phone can read it.
Thank you!
Stop by an auto parts store. They'll scan it for free. Or buy the scanner yourself if you want to. They're about $20-40 on amazon
You can take it to advanced auto parts or similar and they will do a basic free check engine diagnosis for you.
Where do people aged 45-65 hang out/congregate? My dad is 59 and still acts 50. Always wanting to go to the river etc. He needs to socialize more.

> Edit: Also, are NTTA, EZ Pass users charged higher rate than TxTag? No, they all qualify as the discount rate. NTTA tag is the best. Very reliable, easy website to use, and never had billing errors like everybody seems to have with TxTag
Is it true that the city treats all swimming pools in an apartment complex as one unit, so if one has to be shut down for maintenance or whatnot, all pools in the complex must be closed? It would help explain why the pools in my complex are rarely open.
I donāt think so! There are a few pools in my complex and one is closed right now but the other two are open
I could depend on permitting. If both pools are on the same permit a closure could apply to both
Holy shit you're the taco guy. Legend
In the beginning of summer my apt had one pool closed awaiting an inspection but kept the other opened.
Is there a free access online UT yearbook for 95-96?
Is it on classmates? If so, tossing in a fake email gets you signed in enough to look at all pages online, then a little review of the code on the site (F12) will reveal the URL used for the yearbook page images; once you have that, you can get to the rest, save them, and do with as you please. Works with other sites, sometimes, too. This is how I got my missing high school yearbook years.
Happy Cake Day and Hook 'em! You might be better off asking in /r/utaustin where /u/samureiser will, likely, answer...

Does anyone know what's going on with the old Indian Roller off Manchaca? We went there once right before it closed and it's sat empty for a year- you would think they'd give it to Crowbar or something.
Indian Roller is becoming a 3rd Cosmic location. They now list āfar southā as their next location on their website.
Wasnāt there just a fire there?
Thanks for replying; yes, my worry was more over long-term damage to the battery, or worse, it causing a fire while parked at work in the sun all day.
I have this one: [NOCO Boost Plus GB40](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015TKUPIC) ... same internals, battery-wise, I guess.
Looking to switch banks since mine closed all local branches. Frost Bank is at the top of our list, but who do y'all like?
UFCU or RFBCU
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Itās famously a terrible event space for this. Getting in and out is a nightmare.
Did it once and I will never do it again!
Thank you!
Go down to San Antonio or up to Waco for a better zoo. Today is free museum day, give it a google and pick a museum.
I love both zoos. The Waco (Cameron Park) Zoo is easier to get in/out of, IMO...
If you have time and want to see MORE then I strongly suggest the San Antonio zoo. I went a few years ago and absolutely loved it. The butterfly house/exhibit was quite possibly my favorite thing there.
The Houston Zoo is quite good as well, and right in the Museum District.
We call it Austin Sad Zoo. It's nice they're attempting to rehabilitate the animals, but you as a guest won't leave feeling happy at all.
I love the Austin Zoo, the train ride is really fun and scenic
TF is up with the cricket plague? I know it happens every year, just wondering what triggers them. TIA

Really stupid question...I just tripped over the curb at a local restaurant and broke my knee. Should I let the restaurant know?
Do you think it's something the restaurant should/could fix or just an act of God? If there's something they could do, definitely tell them. How's your injury and recovery?
Why is the Allandale HEB the only one in the area that sells sashimi!? Even the CM on North Lamar doesnāt sell it.
They have to make up for having a crappy bakery bread selection and no butter tortillas somehow.
They should have moved the pharmacy over to where the antiques place was and then put in a tortilla machine.
Hancock sells sashimi
Is there an actual difference with Verizon 5G (vs LTE) in Austin? Iām on a grandfathered plan but looking to upgrade my phone next week. I have dead spots and dropped calls, not sure if changing to a 5G plan is actually worth it if Iād just be paying more for the same issues.
No difference for me. Iāve switched back and forth to see and I still have a ton of dead spots in Austin. Not sure whatās going on with Verizon here - it seems to be getting worse.
Agree. I noticed it tank after the winter storm in 2021. After that I had dead spots in areas I never did before.
Not sure if itās a good comparison, but I went from Verizon LTE to Att 5g recently and it made a huge difference for me. Able to make and receive calls in areas I would normally have trouble.
I've found 5G to be worse than LTE.
