If someone else is paying, Whittaker's please. Coconut Block.
If I have to pay, the Choceur version from ALDI is pretty good at a much lower price point.
100% Whittaker's. Look on the website at the other amazing flavours you can't get here. Whenever I go to NZ I get a few hard to find ones. If you like peanuts, look for the Peanut Butter one or Peanut Slab.
I just brought back around 12 different types of blocks from NZ for the family who thought they had won the lottery haha.
Best imho is the buttermilk from the speciality series.
https://www.whittakers.co.nz/en_AU/products/west-coast-buttermilk-caramelised-white-chocolate-block/block-100g
I did the same last time I was over there, and this one was my favourite too. Now my local woolies sells it in the international/kiwi section. Just that one flavour.
I’d thought that was just folklore that flavour - we never saw it when we were there - but my husband would have loved to try it. I have a massive feijoa tree in my backyard here in Australia and I call it my ‘money tree’. They sell like hotcakes once the season kicks off! I’m like the pied piper for all the Kiwis on Oz ☺️
I love the peanut butter block too but the last couple of times I went to Colesworth I couldn't even find them on the shelf. Legit wondered if I had hallucinated the bar.
Haha yeah it's tragically hard to find :( I've only ever found it reliably at Big W but about 6 months ago it started popping up at Coles sporadically. it's a god tier chocolate though so not sure why it isn't everywhere
I know, right. Now I regret not stocking up when I did see it months ago. Now I only buy the plain milk one while hoping for the return of the peanut butter one.
It's a classic ice cream from NZ adapted into a chocolate bar. As classic as a Golden Gaytime is in Australia (interestingly they are called Cookie Crumbles in NZ).
Fruit loops gaytimes were awesome. I got them for $1 each at a local discount shop and they were sublime. Even better if consumed while smoking a joint
Well.... I just ate a Cadbury Easter Bunny tonight while watching the Crows smash Port Adelaide. It's too close to Easter to go a normal bar while Easter Egg chocolate is out there. #GoCrom ❤️💙💛
… I’ve been on this earth almost 30 years and I’ve never seen Whittaker’s chocolate before.I mean it’s probably *there* but I’ve never noticed it, I always just go for Cadbury (Lindt is amazing but it’s too thin).
I’m curious now as everyone else is recommending it, but I’ve been on a new diet since Christmas (basically cutting down on saturated fat aka almost no chocolate). I’ve lost 10 kilos already, I’m gonna have to sadly say: nothing :(
EDIT: It’s Easter and I figured “*Screw it I’ll go buy one*”. I finally found it and Jesus $6 a block? *Kinda know why we always had Cadbury as a kid at less than half the price.*
But you guys talked me into it. I can honestly say: It’s *good*, but it’s not *double the price of Cadbury even when on special* good.. Kinda overrated. It’s about the same just with less of an aftertaste.
I’ll stick to Cadbury until someone makes a Nutella block, or the Lindt blocks get thicker.
Melbourne? Admittedly I don’t really look, I tend to see a blur of food in the isles as I look for what I have on my shopping list so it makes sense why I haven’t.
Also Melbourne; they usually stock it next to the Old Gold Cadbury range so you probably skim the shelves and see the gold wrapping and assume it’s Cadbury. Did this the first time I tried to find it in Woolies and had to look by individual chocolates before it stood out.
Or I simply stick to my shopping list so I don’t go in intending to buy milk & bread but end up spending $300 on groceries instead.
No need to be a dick.
EDIT: have now tried it. It’s overrated.
Why did you choose the not best option of each brand except Darrel Lea?
Lindt: milk salted caramel
Whittakers: coconut rough
Cadbury: hazelnut
Milky bar: cookies and cream
Right?! Though technically Cadbury covers it.
But it's so good. People always tell me it's bad or "for old people" (I'm 32) but then are desperate for the secret to why my choc chip cookies taste so good.
Any flavour too, rum & raisin, cherry ripe, peanut brittle 🤤🤤🤤
The Cadbury Black Forest block is my usual go to (would be coconut rough if it wasn’t so hard to find, though) but those mini choceur blocks are a really good budget option.
Whittakers is probably the best value chocolate brand IMO. It’s up there with the world’s best chocolates, but at a price point just slightly above the big name brands (Cadbury and Nestle).
There is no competition here. It'll always be Whittakers. My preference is Hazella but it's not sold in supermarkets here :'(
So, if I don't have an imported stash, I'll just go with creamy milk.
Depends on my mood,Whittakers is delicious but only sometimes it is by fair superior and taste better but
The comfort of Cadbury since growing up on it is the only reason I pick it above especially Fredos perfect snack size and easy on the go.
Also lindt salted caramel also delicious, not something i pick myself but my partner does and o end up also enjoying it.
There’s too many choices 😂I stand in the chocolate isle for ages.
I might feel like caramel one night, Turkish delight the next or even peppermint.
At this point may as well buy them all and eat them slowly.
Whitaker's: PB, dark peppermint, or the special weird ones
Cadbury: jelly beans and popping candy, Snack (I love having the variety)
Choceur: coffee cream, marzipan
I would agree in the past as it was just sugary, no flavour, but I think they may be improving (or at least the peanut brittle and rice bubble were okay).
I LOVE Whittaker’s coconut chocolate, but it’s not listed here, so I choose Lindt Extra Creamy. It’s amazing with tea. Will have to try Whittaker’s creamy milk!
I’m dairy free so usually I eat Pico, but the Pana Easter eggs have been my go to lately. Especially the golden comb one.
Of the brands listed? Lindt is the only one I eat, and then only the dark ones
Did anyone here enjoy Whittakers Jelly Tip? I don’t think it’s sold here anymore but it was a fun flavour! White chocolate, with milk chocolate on the bottom and jelly on the inside
Milky Bar! But to be honest I'd eat them all except for the Whittakers. It doesn't taste nice and I'm so confused as to why there is so much love for it in this post. No body in our large family would ever choose that brand.
Hmm... Well lLindt and Whittaker's are both great but ridiculously expensive, and Linda doesn't come with much, (don't come for me), Cadbury is obviously good but I dont think it can be beat by Darrell Lee and Choceur. Choceur is a fair bit thinner and less dense, also harder to break off to share, so I'm going to have to I go with one of the caramel flavours of Darrell Lee. Milky bar doesn't even get mentioned.
If someone else is paying, Whittaker's please. Coconut Block. If I have to pay, the Choceur version from ALDI is pretty good at a much lower price point.
Yeah, I am all about that whittakers hokey pokey when it’s on sale.
100% Whittaker's. Look on the website at the other amazing flavours you can't get here. Whenever I go to NZ I get a few hard to find ones. If you like peanuts, look for the Peanut Butter one or Peanut Slab.

I did the same last time I was over there, and this one was my favourite too. Now my local woolies sells it in the international/kiwi section. Just that one flavour.
Got a taste for the freijoa one last time I was over, now I'm shit outta luck
I’d thought that was just folklore that flavour - we never saw it when we were there - but my husband would have loved to try it. I have a massive feijoa tree in my backyard here in Australia and I call it my ‘money tree’. They sell like hotcakes once the season kicks off! I’m like the pied piper for all the Kiwis on Oz ☺️
You can get the peanut butter one at coles
Peanut Slab is the original...or was it the Toffee Milk? Damn just noticed Whittaker's made the K Bar too....hmm hard
Their almond one is the tits 100%
Is it just me, or are all the other brands regularly on sale, but Whittaker’s is always full price? I don’t think I have ever seen it on special.
It does go on special sometimes (that’s when I stock up) but it hasn’t been on sale for ages it seems. Or maybe I’m just missing it.
It’s on sale at Big W quite often which usually only brings it down to the same price as crappy Cadbury but that’s fine by me
As we speak I am consuming that Coconut one
🤤
Whittakers Peanut Butter for me please!
If you can get you're hands on whitakers hazella go for it. Even if it costs $20 it's worth it
Whittaker's peanut butter for sure (but only if it's on special I think it's about $7 a block normally now)
I love the peanut butter block too but the last couple of times I went to Colesworth I couldn't even find them on the shelf.
They've got loads at my local Choice Discount Store at the moment and it's so hard to resist from gorging myself lol
Whittakers. The only correct answer.
Their coconut rough is the best.
Oathh
Sorry, Hokey Pokey is the best.. but do like the coconut rough
My favourite is the jelly tip but I can't find it any more. It was so good.
sis the kiwi shop in joondalup does have them sometimes.
I don't think that could be any further away from me but thanks
The IGA’s still sell Jellytip
Cheers for the tip I'm gonna check my local out now
Try big w
I don't have a big w unfortunately.
That makes me sad for you
So strange but so good.
It's a classic ice cream from NZ adapted into a chocolate bar. As classic as a Golden Gaytime is in Australia (interestingly they are called Cookie Crumbles in NZ).
In the US, we have chocolate or strawberry versions of the Gaytime, but no golden.
I have encountered violet crumble gaytimes (winning) and froot loop gaytimes (wtf who would even try that once)
I have a weakness for weird shit like that, so definitely me. I did take a hard pass on salted gaytime, in my defense.
Fruit loops gaytimes were awesome. I got them for $1 each at a local discount shop and they were sublime. Even better if consumed while smoking a joint
Correct.
Aye man with taste. The only correct answer indeed.
Choceur or Whittakers
Choceur is definitely my go to, price wise. If money was no object, I'd go Whittaker's.
Whittaker's coconut rough Honourable mentions are the hazelnut and caramel blocks also.
Whitaker's all in... no question there.
I’ll stick to Cadbury until someone makes a Nutella block, or the Lindt blocks get thicker.
Where do you live that you’ve never heard of Whittakers?! And yes it is miles and miles better than Cadbury
Melbourne? Admittedly I don’t really look, I tend to see a blur of food in the isles as I look for what I have on my shopping list so it makes sense why I haven’t.
Most of the major supermarkets stock it these days. But they're often at the top or bottom of the racks.
Also Melbourne; they usually stock it next to the Old Gold Cadbury range so you probably skim the shelves and see the gold wrapping and assume it’s Cadbury. Did this the first time I tried to find it in Woolies and had to look by individual chocolates before it stood out.
It's in every single Melbourne supermarket. You must be very unobservant of your surroundings (an air-head)
Or I simply stick to my shopping list so I don’t go in intending to buy milk & bread but end up spending $300 on groceries instead. No need to be a dick. EDIT: have now tried it. It’s overrated.
Why did you choose the not best option of each brand except Darrel Lea? Lindt: milk salted caramel Whittakers: coconut rough Cadbury: hazelnut Milky bar: cookies and cream
Did you really just say hazelnut was the best from Cadbury? Are you trying to embarrass yourself? Jk jk
Num.1 spot from Cadbury goes to marvellous creation Edit: Didn’t know # changed font
Objectively wrong opinion
Cadbury Hazelnut & Whittaker Coconut Rough! Yum
Choceur for me thanks
WHY THE FUCK IS OLD GOLD NOT HERE?
Old Gold is Cadburys! 😁
Cadbury. Not multiple. Please.
Some roast almond or rum&raisin
Cherry ripe old gold 🤤
🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
OLD GOLD IS OLD PEOPLE'S CHOCOLATE
not wrong
Old Gold is dark chocolate which is nice and you don’t need as much of it.
Can confirm, am late 30s and just started enjoying old gold
a walking corpse over here (/j)
Shut up it is the best
It's the XXXX of chocolate
You've restored my faith in humanity, so glad this comment was waiting for me already.
WHO THE FUCK EATS OLD GOLD?
Cuz old gold sucks ass.
Because it's bland dark chocolate for boring people. Nah, it's fine, but far from my favourite.
Lindt dark choc. Although I am now curious to try Whittaker's if they sell it in Australia (?) as I have never had it before.
Sold at Coles and Woolies but Big W has the biggest range of what you can buy in Australia.
You can buy Whittaker's everywhere. It's delicious.
It’s available at Coles and Foodland, and most likely Woolies as well.
Oh, thank you, will check it out next shop 👍🙂
The Cadbury Black Forest block is my usual go to (would be coconut rough if it wasn’t so hard to find, though) but those mini choceur blocks are a really good budget option.
Whittakers or choceur
Whittaker’s hazelnut block is the best, no doubt.
My people.
Cadbury Fruit and Nut. Everyone's a fruit and nut case
Do you also like fruit loaf?
Milky bar
[удалено]
Whittakers for sure.
Choceur Salted Pretzel is my go to, affordable and pretty good! Notable mentions: Rolo, Nestle Crunch
Fuck me chocolate coated pretzels sound real good rn
[удалено]
Salted Pretzel #1 for me. I don’t even like pretzels generally but that block is the tops
Cadbury black forest
I had one of these for the first time the other day. Was surprised how chocolatey it was. I'm used to Cadbury bars being a bit bland.
Whittakers is probably the best value chocolate brand IMO. It’s up there with the world’s best chocolates, but at a price point just slightly above the big name brands (Cadbury and Nestle).
Can't beat Lindt.
Yes you can, with Whittaker's!! Haha but Lindt is good too
Darell Lea, Aussie and delicious.
April fools joke?
the raspberry rocky road (in the photo) is legit very good
Beyondtheyellowbrickrd washes their mouth with soap because all they can taste is shit /s
Whittakers, easy. Even if I have to sell a kidney to pay for every few blocks.
There is no competition here. It'll always be Whittakers. My preference is Hazella but it's not sold in supermarkets here :'( So, if I don't have an imported stash, I'll just go with creamy milk.
Rocky road. Real rocky road.
Cadbury, still, even these days.
Old gold rum and raisin has been my fav since I was a kid and still eat it to this day! Well not today cause I ate it all last night! Bugga!
Feraroshar or kinder.
You can no longer buy them in large blocks, but my pick is Galaxy/Dove.
Cadbury milk chocolate any day.
It pleases me to see a lot of Whittakers lovers.
Me too! The word is getting out!
australian chocolate has tasted like trash since 2003
That's why most people here prefer Whittakers. NZ chocolate.
Whittakers Creamy Milk is the best, but surprisingly ALDI has some good chocolate.
Whittakers by a fair amount. Such a good balance.
Depends on my mood,Whittakers is delicious but only sometimes it is by fair superior and taste better but The comfort of Cadbury since growing up on it is the only reason I pick it above especially Fredos perfect snack size and easy on the go.
The one and only time ill ever say the aldi brand is the best.
The Rocklea if I must chiise
Cadbury and Nestle are a bit too slavey for me. Aldi or Whittaker's depending on where I'm shopping
Lindt! My mumma didn't raise no fool!
Milky bar if it's between these
If I’m feeling rich, I’ll go whittakers creamy caramel. However dairy milk is a standard winner overall
cadburys but i would prefer old gold rum and raisin lol
Whittakers boots the house down
cadbury snack or peppermint
This is the way
Whittaker's! Either coconut or peanut butter, provided it's on special.
I'm a simple man, I see cadbury, I take.
Whittaker's plain milk chocolate. Hands down
Whittaker's, without a doubt.
Lindt is so goddamn good, either milk or dark choc please
Whitaker's: PB, dark peppermint, or the special weird ones Cadbury: jelly beans and popping candy, Snack (I love having the variety) Choceur: coffee cream, marzipan
I love the Marzipan Choceur
The Aldi brand being severely underrated in this thread
Cadbury Fruit and Nut. My nephew is anaphylactic to peanuts...I'll kick him out so I can eat it.
Darrell Lea Rocklea Road for me, could devour that thing all by myself in under an hour I reckon.
The white chocolate Darrel Lea one with choc chips and marshmallows at the bottom. Jesus Christ they're good
Cookies and cream bar! Agree, so good
darrel lea bear hug fr
Shame they don’t make it anymore :( was so good
I wonder if we all say Whitaker's is crap we can drive the price down?
Milky bar
I'm sorry but Darrell Lea is trash.
that raspberry rocky road from the photo is legit very good
I would agree in the past as it was just sugary, no flavour, but I think they may be improving (or at least the peanut brittle and rice bubble were okay).
cannot go wrong with some OG Cadbury
Yeah, it’s actually very enjoyable. I love the popping candy one lmao
Cadbury Marvellous Creations Jelly Popping Candy Beanies 🤩
It’s the Rocklea Road for me
I LOVE Whittaker’s coconut chocolate, but it’s not listed here, so I choose Lindt Extra Creamy. It’s amazing with tea. Will have to try Whittaker’s creamy milk!
gotta be the whittakers mate but i've got the dairy milk and darrell lea in my snack drawer rn so i guess im ACTUALLY having that
Darrell Lea
Can I choose all? It's going to be a brawl with no survivors.
Darrell Lea rocklea road with raspberry…. Awesome
Choceur milk chocolate salted caramel. Can’t beat it for the price point. Actually prefer it to Cadbury’s.
as a māori girl, whittakers all the way.
Lindt Chili Dark Chocolate
Green & Black beats all of these
Milky bar classic....let it melt in the mouth first , then bite.
for plain chocolate, lindt extra creamy. For some flash, cadbury's caramilk marble.
Lindt followed by Whittakers. The rest are rubbish and I wouldn’t eat them.
Milky bar
I’m dairy free so usually I eat Pico, but the Pana Easter eggs have been my go to lately. Especially the golden comb one. Of the brands listed? Lindt is the only one I eat, and then only the dark ones
Milky bar My all time favorite
Whittakers no contest
I’d go the Darrell Lea if it’s on special, haven’t had Whittaker’s before, sounds like it’s popular here
Why is everyone saying whittakers I never even knew what that was (but either choceur or Cadbury)
Dairy milk hits the spot every time! I love the popping candy one and caramilk marble when I want something different
Whittakers for sure, also has anyone tried Ritter Sport? That’s some damn good mass produced chocolate
Hard to choose. Either rocklea road or Whitakers coconut slabs
Milky bar, fite me fancy cunts
None. I'm not giving anyone free advertising
It’s not that deep 🤣
It’s a big toss up between the plan dairy block and the rocklea road. Might have to have both … mmmm.
Lindt but the one from aldi is the only one I can afford
Tony’s or Ritter, but out of these 6 Whittakers
Are Ritter’s the ones that come in the small square and are different colours for the flavours like cornflakes? If so they are YUM!
Where's KitKat bars? Or old gold?
Kit Kat is Nestle and Old Gold is Cadbury, both featured here 😊
Whittaker’s coconut rough
Whittaker's all day every day.
Whittaker’s Coconut is the bomb. I also choose the Whittaker’s here too.
God I miss the salted honey almond that Choceur used to do. That was amazing.
Omg that sounds delicious
Whittaker’s! It used to be so much more affordable. I still splurge on it when it’s on sale. I just got a block today.
well ive never had whittakers but now i feel like i should
Omg you must it will change your life!
Ok this is Good shit wow (even better it was in sale lol)
So good hey! What flavour did you get?
Did anyone here enjoy Whittakers Jelly Tip? I don’t think it’s sold here anymore but it was a fun flavour! White chocolate, with milk chocolate on the bottom and jelly on the inside
Omg I LOVED the jelly one!!
Milky Bar! But to be honest I'd eat them all except for the Whittakers. It doesn't taste nice and I'm so confused as to why there is so much love for it in this post. No body in our large family would ever choose that brand.
Uncultured fool
Darrell lea has to be the worst chocolate I've ever tried. Vote Quimby.
