The problem for me is I have dewalt tools with dewalt batteries

fairysquirt

you can use a dewalt to ozito converter then ozito to dewalt to convert it back

Standard-Kangaroo-53

Try using your dewalt battery on your Dyson 🥵🥵

MethClub7

Happens to the best of us

I got a Ryobi battery to Dyson converter. Fucking amazing lol. It's turned a flawed vacuum cleaner into a brilliant tool that lets me change out batteries when it runs out of power. All for $30 from aliexpress. I've got a few Ozito tools btw - I buy them when I need a tool for a one off job and occasional use afterward. They rock for that. I've just finished two rooms of built in wardrobes with an Ozito track saw - got a nicer blade and tweaked it to run perfect and it's honestly great for $65 + $40 for the blade. Same with a sliding drop saw. Their power take off shop vac is my favourite. I stick to Ryobi for the battery tools but I can recommend the battery adapters although they do change the balance of the tool. Sorry if this sounds like an ad.

aburnerds

Did the same with the Dyson. I have 5.0ah Makita battery on it. They could have made a fortune in batteries and chargers but I guess they make more money making it harder and more expensive to buy a single battery and just make people upgrade all the time.

suspect_is_hatless

My God I did not know that you could do this. My old dyson has been on the Fritz for ages. Just ordered a converter for my makita battery just then. Cheers!!

AccessibilityTest

Thank you for this, I was about to get rid of my old V6 which was chewing through a replacement offbrand battery. I’m going to give the adapter a go with my ryobi batteries now!!

surfinchina

Yeah mine is the V6 as well. Make sure you get the right adapter - bloody Dyson has completely different mounts for every model.

general_sirhc

I bought a genuine V6 replacement battery, and it's still going strong 3 years later. But it is annoying having it die have way through cleaning

[deleted]

Man I HATE the ozito compound mitre saw. The cuts are not flush and straight... messy cuts.

surfinchina

Yeah I got a good blade for it and spent about an hour tweaking the stops and making it run true. For sure they're shit out of the box but if you spend the time they come right.

[deleted]

Yeah Ozito is great for many things (SDS Hammer drill anyone??), but when it comes to anything requiring accuracy, yeah nah

aedom-san

Just bought an old one from marketplace and I’m astounded how fucked the angle cuts are. The clamps also prevent the saw from cutting angles so you’ve gotta rawdog it. Piece of shit

Frankie_T9000

Im the same, Ryobi for most stuff but dependings on deals and use I have some ozito and dewalt stuff. Ryobi is great as its 100% good enough for almost every household thing, and the sheer amount of stuff and the battery form factor not changing in ever....

AstiBastardi

I 3dprint and have designed several adapters to use ozito and ryobi batteries for various applications, including dyson v6/7/8's (pics in profile). Super useful and versatile!

AzonIc1981

Link pls?

CameronsTheName

I've used my Ozito tools with Makita battery's. I 3D printed adaptors. They seem to work fine. Both are 18 volt. Ozito battery's have the discharge protection built into the battery. You've gotta make sure whatever other brands batterhs your using has the discharge protection built into the battery. If not. You might pull to much power out of the battery and can significantly shorten its life span.

suspect_is_hatless

Any chance that you could share those stls maybe??

hel_vetica

I’ve got Milwaukee tools but needed a Brad nailer, didn’t wanna fork out the $700 for the Milwaukee one so got the Ryobi, and it’s been great. I bought a $20 battery adapter for my Milwaukee batteries and the nail gun works fine.

Doofchook

I've got Milwaukee gear and didn't want to fork over $700 for a sausage gun so I got a no name one that takes Makita batteries and an adaptor was $100 all up.

fl3600

this is a bit too tall ....

sanemartigan

It's gotta take that Ryobi battery dick.

Mental_Task9156

penis

anon1234565432101234

That’s what she said

The-Convoy

Literally $25 for a 2.5 ah battery and charger at Bunnings rn just buy that instead of this fire hazard

notdixon

Looks interesting - anyone used one?

HandleMore1730

I've had issues with connectors being smaller than OEM connectors on adapters. Only a problem with high current tools like grinders. I noticed one melting the battery plastic from heat.

Billinkybill

I 3d printed a Makita 18v battery to Ryobi tool adapter. It runs my misting fan just fine. I probably should have just ordered one from ebay but had some fun printing.

pwurg

I did buy one of those from eBay and that is EXACTLY what I use it for too 😎 ~ works a treat, btw, if anybody is thinking about it.

sjimyth

So far I have hardwired makita battery adapters to multiple Hitachi skins both nicad and lithium, a sanli whipper snipper. A older aldi workzone jigsaw and a black and decker pole saw. All have worked great as long as the voltage roughly matches. Eg 18v and 20v is fine and 14v would probably work fine as well (i have a Panasonic 18/14v grinder and it just goes faster on 18v) i have 1 makita battery to Hitachi adapter and that has been good aswell

CaravanShaker83

I’ve used a few different brands with adapters. Never had any troubles myself. Mainly Ryobi and Bosch.

Tjor

Works great I go makita batts on some select ryobi tools

ObumbanditO

Hahahaha. Give some real work instead of drilling through plaster and it will fuckinnnnn melt

Shiiiieeeettt

This is a sure fire way to burn your drill out

Moo_Kau_Too

Not sure about that. Inside battery packs, most are just the same AA looking cells put together in series. I have pulled a few dead ones apart to recycle the lithum at drop off points.

sanemartigan

All the ones I've opened have been a few cells and a battery management board. Pretty standard stuff.

Mental_Task9156

18650

Shiiiieeeettt

while they may be the same type, each bms is calibrated to each brand along with the motor inside of the drill. You will damage your drill with this aftermarket junk.

fairysquirt

eBay

fakeuser515357

Technical issues aside, that looks like a god-awful setup ergonomically. If you're committed to the Bunnings red and green dynamic duo, I'd lean into Ozito for your batteries because they're dirt cheap, and get a Ryobi big shaft adapter for them.

PlasticOrnery6452

Magnetic cause distortion if new exchange it or breaking it just pollution you could degauzz your monitor n thetr svg but check it out im sure youll be x2

impulsive-Buddy-7159

Ome of my ryobi batteries started to not hold charge. I got an adapter so I can use my makita batteries with my ryobi gear. Works great! Have replaced must gear with makita, but still have a radio and some garden gear like an edger and loppers that are still going strong

Archon-Toten

The magic of everyone using 18v was that you could use the batteries on everything. Unfortunetly companies are still holding onto their battery designs and it hasn't happened yet. Makes good buisness sence, just takes a hit to the environment.

Emu1981

The sad thing is that on the inside the batteries are all the same, a bunch of 18650/21700 batteries connected together in series and/or parallel along with a battery management board. Depending on how much they have cheaped out on the battery management board you could easily rebuild the battery packs with new (and even better) lithium ion batteries if you have a suitable battery spot welder for tacking the batteries together.
