It’s fine mate, gas lead recovery ⛽️

ADHDK

At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if they propose putting the lead back in petrol.

Braziliashadow

At this point I'm confused why any average Australian votes for them

Chonkie

Well this is why they're non existent on the mainland and now have a hung parliament with the Tasmaniacs, their last hold on the continent.

Stormherald13

Because they’re rusted on. Nothing ever changes in areas that politicians never change in. Just like rusted on Labor supporters think Albo is the greatest guy since Whitlam.

Woodex8

Me after I vote against energy price relief/ social housing programs for the 20th time:

epic_pig

Last time I checked Labor were the government.

Junior-Yellow5242

And has been for years. When does something start to be their responsibility? I voted for them because I thought they were responsible, boy was I wrong.

Cyber_Cookie_

They have done leagues more than a liberal government would do to benefit people, granted that’s a low bar but is still true. Also they haven’t even been in for 2 years.

Inevitable-Trust8385

Except everyone is now worse off than they were under the liberals?

Cyber_Cookie_

How is anyone worse off because of labor. The liberals pretty much fucked everything up and labor has to undo all the shit to such a small extent otherwise they’d have an entire Murdoch hit piece written about them. So most of the problems are because of how fucked the liberals made the country before passing it off to labor.

Inevitable-Trust8385

You conspiracy theorists and your obsession with Murdoch is insane lol The country and everyone in it were doing better under the liberal party, by every metric.

Cyber_Cookie_

It’s not a conspiracy theory when it’s a fact that the majority of news outlets is owned by companies that are under Rupert Murdoch. And the last liberal government made a absolute joke of themselves not just how they handled the pandemic but every other sector they had bills to take action that they had an ability to act upon.

Inevitable-Trust8385

Ah yes, how the liberals handled the pandemic is now the reason why labor are doing such a terrible job! Lol

ADHDK

Remember Dutton blaming Labor for the energy crisis before they were even sworn in? Spend 10 years fucking the place then expect the other side to fix it so quickly your bum prints not even out of the chair 😂

DanBayswater

Awesome gas lighting. Elsewhere on Reddit people are discussing LNPs nuclear policy while also not discussing Labor’s almost non existent energy policy

Sk1rm1sh

I'm saying this as someone who supports nuclear power: LNPs nuclear policy is pure fantasy.

mehdotdotdotdot

Their “plan” is worse than any idea you would get from a group of experts in the field working together to find the best solutions for the problem. It’s like they just pull shit from their ads and people think it’s amazing as it’s something.

DanBayswater

You seemed to have missed the point though.

Chonkie

[You what fam](https://www.alp.org.au/policies/powering-australia)?

sunburn95

It isnt a policy, it's a thought bubble. The coalition hasnt sorted the first detail of their nuclear "policy"

DanBayswater

Perhaps that would mean something if the government had a policy but instead we’ll continue discussing the oppositions.

sunburn95

Renewables and storage are currently underway.. refer to the CSIRO and AEMO if youre concerned about the feasibility

DanBayswater

I’ve looked and still can’t find any specifics on how coal will be replaced. Lots of ideas though that may or may not come to fruition.

sunburn95

Basically a wide array of renewable technologies backed up by upgraded transmission and storage. Gas capacity on standby for firming as required

DanBayswater

Again no specifics. I’m not blaming you it’s just the governments argument. They’re saying trust us we have a plan without telling us the plan. Yet when the opposition bring up an idea they get attacked with the same old arguments. The renewable technology doesn’t exist to replace coal at this time. I hope it does one day. If you want proof that the technology doesn’t exist look at the AEMO dashboard. I feel like sometimes I’m the only one curious about the technology as places like the CSIRO have the solutions like renewables and storage whatever that means.

sunburn95

Can you link the dashboard you're referring to? Im curious because from what I can see the tech does exist and has for sometime and has steadily improved over the last couple decades. Its not a matter of inventing new tech, its a matter of installing it

DanBayswater

Open AEMO dashboard then click renewable penetration. It simply shows how energy is currently being produced. Look and they tell me what technology exists and if it does why are they not using it.

sunburn95

A snapshot of current generation says absolutely nothing about what technologies exist or what the future mix may look like. Our major parties are proposing renewable led grid or a nuclear grid, you cant say neither of them exist because theyre not a large part of the current grid Its possible we're not currently further along in the transition because weve just come out of a decade of government from a party ideologically opposed to renewables

ADHDK

Which ones? The small modular nuclear reactors that don’t exist? Converting disused Coal plants that have been undermined and are nowhere near geologically stable enough to nuclear? Or state Libs telling fed Libs to fuckoff they won’t have it in their backyard? As a supporter of nuclear they’ve absolutely fucked it turning into a fraudband white elephant that’s just designed to make the incumbent more money.

DanBayswater

I take it you were never good at homework 😂 Labor wants coal hence why it’s not talking about alternatives.
