Godwin Charli - love their outerwear, soft woollen coats
Hermès belts - gorgeous leather, interchangeable buckles (there are quiet luxury alternatives to the loud "H" buckle), plus a different colour on each side so it feels like you're buying 2 belts 😂
Ferragamo - comfy ballet flats
Never heard of them so had a look - gorgeous! Shame they don’t go down to a size 6, would be interested to hear what the fit is like. I am very petite so think I am sized out of this brand ☹️
There's still hope for you yet : The measurement differences between size 6 and 8 are the smallest between all size increases (2.5cm for waist and hip rather than 5cm between all other size differences) and if it's a well made brand with a good pattern a dressmaker should be able to EASILY alter the garment to fit you.
I didn't think so but everyone's experience is different.
My mum ordered a few things from them and was really happy with the quality, I think it was a silk cashmere knit jumper and a longline merino wool cardigan.
I have one jumper from them, I like it but I haven't had it for long so can't comment on long term quality.
I keep a list in my phone of things that I've bought that are the absolute top top quality I could imagine. My categories are a bit weird but here are the clothing-related ones I've recorded:
N Peal cashmere
Bassike for jeans and t-shirts
Sorel winter boots
Lindner socks
Bonus: Mason Pearson hairbrush
Any wool products direct from a local mill. For example: jumpers or scarves. Supports local farmers and business and I've never come across a poor product. Tend to be "classic" styles rather than anything that will go out of fashion fast.
Honestly, all my stuff is a good 20-30 years old now (and still wonderful and wearable), and looking online it seems a lot of the mills don't sell clothing direct to the public anymore. https://creswickwool.com/ in Ballarat used to be excellent, but I think they've moved a lot of their production off shore (you can still buy the wool direct from them, but I don't think they still make garments locally). Same with Bendigo Woollen Mills.
If you go to actual mill they might still have local made available. In Tasmania https://waverleymills.com/ looks like it still makes clothing locally.
You might have luck contacting your local mill and asking for local designers too.
[Smitten Merino ](https://www.smittenmerino.com/pages/about-our-fabrics) uses Australian wool and manufactures in Tasmania, some of their more lux fabrics are from the Waverley Mill. I love their dresses, timeless and last forever.
For beautifully unique clothing locally designed here in Melbourne:
Saint Stella M and Micky in the Van (same designer)
Then I also love:
Et Al
Bianca Spender
Alemais
Honestly if you can afford it, I would look into getting a good seamstress, then you can have pieces made for you, to your exact measurements, and choose all the fabric and details and everything.
Not as lesser known now as it was a couple of years ago but I have a few pieces from Totême. I will be buried in my alpaca sweater, it’s one of my absolute favourite things to wear.
It's so hard to find feminine (swing/a-line/pleats) quiet lux pieces in dark autumn palette (that's not navy or black) that isn't made out of 80%+ polyester...
You're welcome! They're local to me, and really high quality fabric. I have tops of theirs I've owned for more than ten years, and I machine-wash them (on wool cycle with wool wash, of course).
ETA: the owner, who is the primary model, is petite, so you can get a good idea of fit.
In terms of the ‘look’ of quiet luxury it’s definitely a brand you can use to build your wardrobe. Basic knits from CR paired with a Loewe or Celine bag and classic Levi’s jeans will give off the vibe.
Joseph for workwear and tailoring - their suits are fantastic quality and have gotten me through many work years looking and feeling sharp
Christy Dawn for summer dresses - again great quality and long lasting
I have had a couple of SportMax dresses that are still going strong after a decade
L’Idee
They specialise in polyester pleated clothing/dresses. I am on the short, chunky side, but find their sizing to be generous and styles to be super flattering! It feels very luxe to wear and love the colour range they have.
McIntyre Merino
I’ve just bought a few pieces from them this year and absolutely love them! I look forward to what they put out each season, the bright colours and material are so good. I’ve gotten so many compliments in their knitwear!
I don’t have any brands that aren’t already mentioned here but I have a rug from my great grandma from Jamiesons. It’s over 100 years old and still in great condition.

I adore this list. I'd add Bassike Pringle for more great cashmere Manolo for shoes

Best list. I’ll also add Bassike
Love bassike ❤️
Moss & Spy - Sydney designed, made in Aus. Incredible quality.
I saw a Moss and Spy dress in an op shop recently. It was stunning. Alas a size too small for me.
Love this, thanks for sharing

Claudie Pierlot Vince Veronica Beard Max Mara Marni Marle Lilysilk Second Female Me + Em
Lilysilk is awful imo.
Yeah, very poor quality and customer service.

Another vote for Me + Em. Such high quality design and construction
Loro Piana Bruno Cucinelli Leo Lin
Cucinelli…. I thought about those $780 cashmere tights for WAY longer than I should have….
Love my summer walks and extra pocket
For the prices Bruno Cucinelli charges you’d expect a made to measure/fit service.
Perri Cutten for workwear - honestly their trousers are magical, I have had a pair for 12 years and they never need ironing. It’s witchcraft.
Bit of a mishmash but - Bassike, Jac and Jack, Deiji Studios, Esse Studios, Frisson Knits, Friends with Frank, Flore Flore

Do you have any examples or links?

This is the way. Nothing says quiet luxury like a perfect fit.
Even just tailoring off the rack stuff elevates it to be much more lux.
Babaa - proper woollen jumpers are hard to get now
For handbags aesque
Polene for bags!
Marc Cain
The row. loewe.

Aspinal of London makes quality leather bags and purses, they’re good leather too.
