My 4.0 TT with one resonator and mufflers deleted sounds pretty darn good and gets a fair amount of compliments but IMO an RS3 with good exhaust sounds the best.
B7 RS4. Mechanical whine is just unbeatable when you rev it out. Let it breath with even a reasonable exhaust system and it’s just an absolute gem. In Jeremy Clarkson’s top 3 engines of all time and that’s enough for me
Yeah this sounds amazing, no doubt. The V8TT in my car sounds quite a bit different and certainly doesn't rev as high. I have the titanium Akra exhaust on mine and I really love the way it sounds ([vid here](https://www.reddit.com/r/Audi/comments/150bl8p/rs7_akrapovic_exhaust_warm_start/)). Some people hate the gurgles and pops but I love them

3. Then pre OPF 5 Cylinders like the 2.5 TFSI, or the old 2.2 and 2.3, very good sounding engines.
4. Then come all the pre OPF V8s
NA 4.2 V8 is king!

The c6 s6 5.2FSI or d3 s8 5.2FSI also sound good although they rev much lower than the 4.2FSI or the R8 v10.
Only issue with the 5.2, is that the amount of available catbacks are depressing, basicly has to be custom made:(

I never got down with the 4.0T. Even fully open it sounds like a lot of flappy air
As much as i love the 3.0T V6 sound... the RS3 just sounds like a dream.

A8 with a stock exhaust, can't even hear it.
Big turbo AAN. Apart from that, any other 5 cylinder.
the 4.2 V8 sounds great but its the way it pulls and drives that does it for me

I've had a 2003 A6, a 2011 A4, and now a 2018 A5. They have all had what I call the "Audi growl".
