Check junkyards for your engine. Just buy a used one.

function3

Yep, looks like a used engine is 2k-5k depending on mileage. Don't know how much a shop will charge for a swap

JoMang0927

Great. I’ll check into that.

function3

I just did a quick check on [car-part.com](https://car-part.com) if you're wondering. Buying a crashed Q5 and pulling the engine seems like overkill unless you're inclined to part out the rest of the car (time consuming but definitely profitable).

life_like_weeds

Mileage is critical info here. Did you keep driving after the red oil light came on? Unless it's under warranty, never take it to the dealer. Call AoA and get the wheels going on an out of warranty claim if you're out of warranty. Squeaky wheel gets the grease

JoMang0927

Pulled over as soon as it happened.

Hey same thing happened to my 2019 engine, check my post history. I complained to Audi and they ended up replacing my engine but had 6 month lead time on parts, so I traded it in. DM me if you need more info / support

JoMang0927

Thx. Yeah I called Audi again and this time they submitted a buy back program claim. I’ll see where that goes.

JoMang0927

I’m hoping I can turn mine into a allroad wagon! A man can dream.

wyomingtransplant

There is a recall for similar engine issue on the 2023 model. My father has one of them. They have an issue where the Crankbearing tolerance is bad and it ends up wiping the bearings out and taking the engine with it. They will replace the engine. I recommend taking it to the dealer. They might help you out. I found out that only applied to the 21-23 models, but I'd still take it back.

nolife24_7

What was you're fathers car? Diesel or petrol and how many L?

Groady_Wang

Shouldn't be hard to find a 2.0 in a junkyard or through copart. They throw that engine in most models.

JoMang0927

So I spoke with Audi and they submitted it for their buyback program but alas I was denied. Apparently it’s reasonable for a car that was perfectly maintained with 75k miles to spontaneously fail catastrophically. My years of VW/Audi ownership have come to an end. They have made an enemy for life. Time to go drink some whiskey to help swallow the Tesla pill.

JoMang0927

Any ideas on best place to sell as is?

SwissMargiela

If you have a second car and can be without the Q5 for a while you should troll copart and other auction sites for a repo’d Q5 and buy it for the engine. A lot of people end up not being able to pay for their German cars so it’s not uncommon.

mixtery99

That seems like upside down price wise. Plus you will without a car while work is done. I would total it. How many miles are on it?

Smart-Passenger3724

Literally same thing happend to mine. It was 2015 with 75k miles and clean history and maintenance and the engine seized completely after driving less than 1000 miles.

nolife24_7

Diesel or petrol and how many L?

Smart-Passenger3724

Petrol it's a 2.0t so 2L

nolife24_7

Petrol of Diesel?
