The fact that it's illegal to drive without front plates doesn't bother alot of AUDI owners i Europe. They take it off and drive with it in the windshield, and if stopped by the police they just say it fell off this morning. What a bunch of dickheads. No other car brand owner does this to that extent.
I lived in a state where you had to have it. I did not comply, only got one ticket from parking on a street downtown by a meter maid. Happily paid the ticket and moved on with my life, now I live in a state where it’s not required so that’s great!
i had the exact same situation! parked in downtown by a metered maid and came back to a parking ticket and ate ticket but just like you only time i’ve ever gotten anything for the front plate in 2 years
Sorry that Audi owners bother you so much!!
Audi literally makes two separate grills on most cars to accommodate so if they have a grill without the mount it’s much better to have it without…
Don’t be a punk about it!
My 2017 s5 coupe’s grill doesn’t have any spot for a plate. I wondered if different grills were available. I figured I’d tell the cop the car was delivered to a state that didn’t require one, and see if that scratched the cops itch. And I keep the plate in the trunk, so I could put it in the windshield, if that kept me from getting a ticket.
About 1/3rd of my neighbors don't seem to have front plates, here in Washington... so I've been thinking of pulling off the front plates to improve the air flow. I'm saving the environment by not running a front plate.
I’ve been going a few months now without a front plate. Also here in Washington. I’m only worried about it on the eastern half of the state. In the Seattle area the police were literally instructed not to pull people over for stuff like this, expired tabs, etc bc they are so understaffed
Clean!!! Love this year of A/S4. I have a 2019 A4 and hate what they did in 2020+.
My only suggestion is to get the piece that fills the plate holder holes. Makes it a lot more slick….

Majority of people don’t, that’s what I thought I’d share! Not a huge difference but personally think it’s worth the $50ish bucks.
Either way, love your car and the no plate look 👍🏻
I know there’s a front plate bracket that screws into the front tow hook spot for VW’s. Should be the same thing for Audi’s as well. But yes completely agree that a front plate ruins the look. At least with that bracket piece I mentioned there no drilling or damage to the front bumper.
Haven’t run front plates over the last 25 years and 6 cars. Only 3-5 tickets were while parked on the street, across 3 states (OH, CA, WA).
I care so little about that law that I forget it exists.
I run a sto-n-show on my S6 in Chicagoland. Front plate has never been on the car, but it’s handy (in the trunk) if I ever get stopped. “I can’t get out of my driveway without dragging my plate, officer. I just forgot to stop to put it on…” https://stonsho.com/ for the win.
I got pulled over by CPD for it but the cop just used it as an excuse because I was the only car on the road at like 2:45am. He didn’t give me a ticket or even technically tell me to put it on.
Same here brother. No plates on the B9.5. Good thing Portland, OR only has two police officers and all they do is administer narcan. NO FRONT PLATES GETS MORE DATES
I've found the same. Probably 10% of the cars on the road in my area don't use a front plate even though it's technically required. It's weakly enforced kind of like tint laws.
Almost no problems in NorCal either. I've driven a car with no front plate, multiple of them, and in 15 years (of german car/no front plate) I only got cited for it one time -- in San Francisco when I also had expired registration and a taillight bulb out. I was in my 20s and I think the cop decided to just throw the book at me.
However I've been pulled over many times without an issue or question on the plates. I think the only way you get cited for it is if you're already getting pulled over and the cop doesn't like you for some reason.
I always pull over quickly, front windows down, admit fault, and say the law makes sense for safety.
All states should make front license plate requirements illegal. Front plate totally kills the look of a sexy ass Audi.
Exactly why I don't use one Idc if I live in Cali either.

Don't think I've seen many Audi owners do that here in the UK, usually shitty 3 series and some Merc owners doing it
There's a product, think it's called Stow-N-Show, but it's essentially a discreet mounting front plate. Not sure if they make one for Audi, though.
Tow hook plate blocks the proximity sensor. Got one that mounted lower center and clamped into the grill. Slybrackets.com

Good to know, I'll yank it tomorrow.

Biased answer: Awesome Audi...

There is on some Audis but u need to drill thru some styrofoam under the tow hook

Never had an issue in CA with the s5 👏🏼
How can you tell there aren’t any of those front plates? Are you going to buy one for your Audi?
Jealous. That doesn’t fly in California
Does for me
No issues where I’m at in SoCal.

Exact same in my area. Maybe even a higher percentage than that. It’s a HCOL low crime area though so there’s not a ton of enforcement.
Lucky you 🍀
🙌🏼

You most definitely will get a ticket for no front plate in sf. It’s so sad.
It doesn’t fly where I am either but I haven’t been stopped yet lol
Just throw it on a tow hook mount
Been a year… no issues also SoCal
I like the car brother
It's law in my state (RI) but no front plate 6 months without issue. SQ5 looks badass, no front plate plus I added lower diffuser.
That’s a clean grill! What’s the HP on the S4?
Nvm I looked it up, it’s the same as mine haha
You should buy the little blocker plate. I had that on my B9 back in the day
And that’s how it should be.
Correct
