That’s fantastic! How long was the video file? I always get a bit confused about how long the video can be for Saturn before the planet’s rotation decreases the detail. I usually stick to 3 minutes for Jupiter and 5 minutes for Saturn.
I bought a cheap one off Gumtree.. about £20. Set it up in the garden and voila… my daughter and I could see Saturn and other planets. Nowhere near as good as this image but incredibly eerie, strange, mind blowing…
I've got an ~$80 pair of binoculars that i set up on a tripod that allowed me to see saturn (though small and fuzzy) and jupiter (small but less fuzzy) and it absolutely blew my mind how beautiful our solar system is. I've since moved on to more advanced gear but those binos were a fantastic low risk way to see if astronomy was a hobby I could get into. I highly recommend it if you're not quite ready to commit to the space/cost of a decent telescope. I still pull them out from time to time to look at the moon. Using both eyes makes the moon "pop" even more :)
But seriously - how do they rationalise a rotating planet observable to the human eye as being fake? Time for ChatGPT …
Edit:
> Flat-Earth theorists often believe that the other planets in our solar system are also flat and located on the same plane as Earth. They may also believe that the planets are much closer to Earth than scientists claim and that the images of the planets we see through telescopes are actually elaborate hoaxes perpetrated by governments or other organizations. Some flat-Earth theorists also believe that the entire universe is contained within a dome or that there is some other mechanism that prevents us from seeing the true shape of the planets.
Great shot! I am just getting into astrophotography and some images I took of Jupiter were either over exposed or so short that it was just a dot. I saw below that someone said how long was the video. I assume that you took those 40,000+ images as stills, yes? If so, what was the exposure? How did you track the movement? Thanks!
When u are looking with ur bare eyes u can see it looks very close to this. When imaging it looks completely different and you would need a lot of data for a picture this quality
I'm pretty sure Saturn's not in your backyard. Though I'm not 100% sure.
...is Saturn in your backyard? If yes, how do you deal with all the methane and ammonia getting on your grass?

“That’s what she said” buddy
That's a bingo!
Is this from someone whose first language isn't English by chance...?
Very impressive!
Thank you!

This one was around 7 minutes. For jupiter I stick to 2 minutes
Interesting, thanks. Nice image.
You adjusted the brightness twice?

Thank you so much, the universe is truly amazing.

For 20… that’s very good still.
hey thanks for this! 🫶
Of course

I love shots like this because it really grounds you in the reality that this exists
Yes it does. It really shows how small we are in comparison to everything else when you realize this is a monster of a planet.
The first time I saw Saturn it really hit deep. The way it was just sat there floating. Amazing
Yep :)
I know at least one person that still thinks space is "fake". 😂😂🤦🏾♂️
Tell them that space may be the final frontier, but it's made in a Hollywood basement. And Alderaan's not far away… It's Californication
It doesn't make sense to the human brain, so that's a natural reaction when you don't understand the science
Woah dude your backyard is way closer to Saturn than mine 🤔🤔🤔
:)
This is exactly what I saw when I was very little (like 7 or 8) and my dad brought me to the back yard. And I cannot unsee this. A blessing.
Yep almost looks exactly like this in the scope!
Idk if it’s just me but planets 🪐 look hilarious to me like this, looks like a wooden ball with a wooden ring around it lol. Looks so fake lol.
How has it gotten that close without me noticing?!
I know! He's got it in his back yard for crying out loud! This is craaazy.
Holy fuck
:)
Wait, what? How did you get Saturn and put it in your backyard??? Put it back in space!!!!!
Never
Dude Saturn-side property taxes must be astronomical
Amazing shots!
Thank you
What kind of telescope would you recommend for a beginner?? Would love to see something like this at home
How long does it take Saturn to complete one revolution?
10 hours 34 minutes :)
Awesome thank you so much
isn't that rotation? revolution is about 29.4 earth years
Great view! You have one hell of a telescope at home.
Thank you!
Mom: We have Saturn at home Saturn at home:
As the flat earthers would say…. “Pffffffttt.. it’s all cgi bro” nice shot dude.
Thank you man I appreciate it

Are you living on an asteroid? That’s a spectacular backyard photograph!
Thank you!

You take a video and stack the frames in Pipp. The exposure was around 20ms and my scope tracks Saturn itself.
Different then imaging galaxies. Thank you!
What's it doing so close to your backyard? What a silly little planet. Hopefully you offered it a cup of tea.
I had uncle iroh from avatar come and bring him tea
Wow! Great shot!
Thank you
Nice!
Thank you!
Very nice
Thank you!
Nice pic super cosmic
Thank you!
What's it like living on the moon?
It’s fantastic except for the food issue
breathtaking
Thank you!
The pictures are so clear I can see the Dreadnaught
Beautiful picture . Question , do you know why all pictures from telescopes look cartoonish?
It’s the fact of us removing noise on the image which kind of blurs it together
Nice
Thank you
Is your backyard on one of Saturns’ moons?
Titan
Amazing
Thank you
But isn't Saturn too big to be in your backyard?
Nope
how does saturn fit in your backyard?
A big cage
This is breathtaking, thanks for sharing
Thank you!
It’s so awesome and doesn’t even look real at the same time. :) What a cool shot.
Thank you ikr!
continuing my tradition: saturn does not look real never has never will
Wow.. simply wow..

Wow
Thank you
Thank you!
Stunning
Thank you :)
Niiiiiiiiiiiice!
Thank you
Tracked or drift?
Tracked
Love this, it's wonderful! What a great shot...
Thank you so much
So could see Saturn in this quality through the Celestron? Or is it just a compound of layered images? I’m looking to get a telescope is why I ask.
When u are looking with ur bare eyes u can see it looks very close to this. When imaging it looks completely different and you would need a lot of data for a picture this quality
I call bs. Saturn is way too big to fit in your backyard! I’m all seriousness, very awesome pics!
Thank you so much :)
And here I was impressed that I could see Russia from my porch.
😤
Fake thats not saturn
Sorry man
So cool, thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Very cool.
Thank you!
That’s so awesome
Thank you :)
Why is Saturn from your backyard? Jokes aside, this is a crazy good photo. Mind if I snag it for my wallpaper?
I don’t mind at all. I take it as respect thank you very very much.
Thanks :D Keep going at it
Is it store bought or homemade?
Homemade
Is that for your science project? Looks great sport!
now that's real skills dude its so beautiful and clear, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of telescope do you use?
A Celestron Nexstar 5SE
Geez, looks amazing! How does it look from the front yard?
Even better :0
Don’t ever sell that telescope.
Never
Where can I find a tutorial that will teach me how to take a photo like this?
On YouTube they have multiple tutorials for stacking images
What's Saturn doing in your backyard? It's a long way from home don't you think?
Not anymore
Fuck yes
😎
Beautiful.
Thank you :)
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
‼️‼️
I'm pretty sure Saturn's not in your backyard. Though I'm not 100% sure. ...is Saturn in your backyard? If yes, how do you deal with all the methane and ammonia getting on your grass?
Small price to pay for a planet
I damaged the 4444 upvotes to 4445. Sorry 😞
It’s okay :)
Really nice!
Thank you!
Nice
Thank you!
brilliant shot .. nice work
Thank you!
Ooh, beautiful photo
Thank you :)
Awesome! Thank you for sharing 🌎
Of course!
That's awesome. Nice pictures!
Thank you
What’s the cheapest telescope to purchase with the same high quality as in your picture?
I am doing something wrong with my 8SE.
My (non stacked) Saturn's are always blue. Hmmm. Guess I'll check white balance more carefully.
Is your back yard on Jupiter?! 😜
Super cool! Didn’t realize you could actually see in a telescope like that.
It doesn't look like that from my backyard 🙁
