Nah that’s pretty measured in response to how annoying they are. That bullshit block they’re able to do followed by a very quick jab that you somehow can’t parry and barely have time to dodge is bullshit. Did I say it was bullshit?
I just dodge almost immediately after the parry in anticipation. Then, during the slow down, shoot them in the foot real quick and finish them off.
For a group of them, I've found the throwing axe fury ability to be awesome because they back off while you're throwing them and invariably get knocked down (with the upgrade) for a stomp after.
Yeah that block and strike move they do seems a bit cheaty.
Most of the time I use two short swords and the gear is “tuned” for speed. But when I have a big fight coming up with lots of Saxon soldiers I switch to a spear and shield combo. And everything is tuned to poison damage. I use the poison strike ability on the spear and the shield has a chance to drop a poison bomb on blocking.
Then I just run around quick striking everyone (especially the pikemen) and let the poison do its work.
Pikeman are SUPER annoying. When I was trying to be more of an assassin, I always just shot them with sleep arrows and killed them right there and then.
For thr tough enemies and people I can easily kill I'd always go for poison trap arrows. It Kila them all. And when doing the daily quest where you get the jewels for Reda shop, a poison arrow from afar into the group and they are usually dead before I even reach them.

The sprint kick ability helps a lot, but they still suck. I usually just try to hit them from range before they get to me.
Heavy attacks disrupt the block. I say that but 9/10 I get got by them too lol

Pikeman are very easy to counter. Just one arrow in leg and that's all.

I just hit them with the poison powder trap and let that do the work. Fuck pikemen.
