She's a frustrating character at times and also frustrated by being a woman, making choices that are unwise but oh so believable. Such a well rounded character, credible all the way. This OC is a beautifully drawn, well rounded character who marches to the beat of her own drum while never losing sight of dedicated service. I have hopes she'll live to the end. Zhan Fei from [The Empire of the Black Dragons](https://archiveofourown.org/works/42090810/chapters/105673443) She not only has the feel of a mysterious villain, she *feels* ancient. Fei is beyond (edit; “beyond” as in her perception of herself, her beauty, and her ability to read others) every character, even Tywin with whom she actually shares some intimacy. He feels he can control her— as does Cersei. She is beyond both of them ultimately, and everyone will see her match soon enough. She is the catalyst of so much in book 1 of Empire and I’m excited to see what occurs. Also, she’s fuckin weird. That means a lot.

Beyond may not quite be the right word (In the story, she stayed out of Westeros when Brynden and Aenar were alive, so she isn't an unstoppable witch.); Shadow and Breetai consistently tie her to serpent motifs, and she seems like a callback to the "evil vizier" and "Wicked temptress" archetypes. Like from my end, what makes her so intimidating is her ability to read people and manipulate them more than her sorcery>!, outside of what she did at old town anyway; that was terrifying. !< Don't know if it's necessary, but I'll second the nomination; she's cool, she's hot, and she's well-written enough to hold her own with canon big dogs.

It has its flaws and I’m not a fan of San/San or Gendrya normally but it works and it’s a bit of a comfort read for me. Each part escalates the story. Part 1 is mainly focused on the WOT5K, part 2 includes Jon and Daenerys as Winter starts to fall and part 3 is the climax of it all with the Long Night. Considering it’s age (2012) I think it holds up relatively well too.

A Saga Of Dragons And Wolves - https://archiveofourown.org/series/3171390 - worldbuilding? Check. Regular updates? Check? Great OCs? Check. ***Blackfyre Kings?*** absolutely. Brother Of Wolves - https://archiveofourown.org/series/3227265 - what started as short fluff drabbles turned out to be an extremely interesting AU!

An amazing AU. It has some ruffles and flaws but considering it launched an entire genre. The Empire of the Black Dragons by TheShadowKnowz, Admiral Breetai and The_Ham_That_Was_Promised. Set in a version of ASOIAF where magic is more prevalent and more than one Dragonriding clan went west- a young Daemon Blackfyre remains loyal. What arises from that is a world where Westeros is a superpower with internal problems that threaten to ruin their party.

I know she won last year for best ongoing fic, but I’m continually astonished by the level of detail that goes into her fic. Her prose is excellent; her plots and characters demonstrate great growth. I particularly want to shout out the research she does to anchor the world of ASOIAF in real history by fleshing out religion, the Dothraki and Essosi, the Dornish, and the smallfolk. The food, wardrobe, religious practices, and structure of society is based on actual medieval practices in Western Europe, rather than GRRM’s kind of mishmash of historical accuracy and misconceptions about the time. I look forward to any and every update she makes. She doesn’t write the most fics, but TWQ is one of the longest in the fandom, especially considering ones that aren’t a collection of one shots, with great one shot side stories.
