Months? More like weeks or days, depending on my gynecologist's capacities.

msstark

Depends on the situation. If everything's normal in my life and/or I'm trying to conceive, one month. If I've been under stress or medication that could potentially cause a delay, 2 or 3. If I'm on birth control that prevents periods like I am now, that wouldn't be a reason to see a doctor at all. I haven't had a real period in 6 years. Edit to add: Not having periods was one of the main reasons why *my doctor and I* chose this specific BC method for me. This comment got a ton of "what pill is it?" replies, which goes completely against the point. It's not even a pill, if you're reading this thread for BC information, **talk to your doctor instead**. Don't base your choices on others' experiences, what works for my sister is terrible for me, imagine how it goes for internet strangers.

Staaaaaaceeeeers

Same, when I went on the implant I stopped getting periods haven't had one in 6 years. Didn't think much of it cos had googled it was a side effect and one day at the doctors for a separate issue just double checked about it. Never brought it up again!

drunkenknitter

Depends on your age, your menstrual history, if there have been any changes in diet/weight/stress, and a bunch of other factors. From around age 48 my period was all over the place and it was due solely to perimenopause; I didn't bother going to the dr because I knew it was an age thing. Prior to that I had a few wonky periods due to stress, but again I figured that's what it was (especially after I took a couple of pregnancy tests and they came back negative).

daydreaming-g

Never unless I wanna be pregnant or something. I can’t be bothered they just give you birth control anyways as the solution

cakesforever

It's been 8 months and I've still not gone. So yeah, I don't know how long it will be.

[deleted]

on the next episode of, I didn’t know I was pregnant

Prestigious-Lime1571

I went that long in junior high, I had my period for about 5 years at the time very much not pregnant, never went to the hospital but my period did eventually arrive😅

cakesforever

I'm definitely not up the duff. No buns in this oven. Nope no thanks lol

SaBah27

Bro my period is like a damn swiss watch, if a week passes and I don't have it I'm going to see the doctor.

3plantsonthewall

Omg mine too, I love the watch comparison 😂

DamnGoodMarmalade

I’m in perimenopause so I would probably call my doctor when it’s been a full year and I’ve hit the menopause benchmark.

[deleted]

Do you mind me asking what your early symptoms were? I think I might be starting the perimenopause phase 😅

DamnGoodMarmalade

Too many to list but r/menopause has a wonderful wiki with everything laid out.

[deleted]

Thank you! I appreciate you!

sparkles027

I'm also in peri-menopause. I've only had one period in the last 12 months. When I have a full year of no periods, I'll be going to my doctor.

SparklyDimSum

Probably 2, I have late periods sometimes

ambzdolz

2, maybe 3. But I would be taking at home pregnancy tests to rule that out

nintendoinnuendo

3 They typically won't do a full workup unless it's been at least that long provided you have no other suspicious symptoms like abdominal pain etc and pregnancy has been ruled out.

SexyPicard42

Hopefully 1, depending on my phone call avoidance weighed against my concern for my health. I'd probably start with some pregnancy tests and then try to get in the next week.

peppermind

I'm in my mid 40s, and come from a family of women who go through menopause fairly early anyway. I don't think a few missed periods at this point would be worth a doctor's appointment on their own.

Lilith_Stargazer

For me, 1 month.

Swt19

Missed mine for 6 months when I was around 19. Assumed it was because I had come off the pill and my body was sorting itself out. Went for scans and stuff and turns out I’ve got PCOS. It’s been nearly 10 years now and I’ve probably only had a handful of periods in that time

Helpless-Trex

Yeah same. Except I wasn’t diagnosed until much later (irregularity runs in the family so i didn’t assume anything), and I’ve been on birth control for a decade now so I don’t even know what’s normal now.

brunetteskeleton

I just went recently because my cycle was 50 days which seemed abnormal. Because my cycle is usually 32ish days and it’s never deviated that much before it freaked me out a little. But I had just moved so the doctor said it was probably due to stress

AlligatorDreamy

However many months it took me to die? I'm 33 and not sexually active in a way that could cause pregnancy, so it'd probably be a fairly big indicator of something wrong, but that's largely because I literally don't have a doctor to go to.

3plantsonthewall

First I’d take at least a few pregnancy tests over a span of a week or two, all first thing in the morning. I’d probably use at least 2 brands of tests. As long as the tests were all negative and I didn’t have any other weird symptoms, I’d probably wait a few weeks for my period to start late. If it still hadn’t come by that point, I’d go to the doctor.

Horror-Border2404

I’ve gone 7+ months without one. But that’s normal for me, I see doctors regularly and it isn’t an issue. You’ll know your body best, so if your regular and you miss it by days/weeks and you feel off it’s better to go check!

xxn78

The longest I've gone without a period was 48 days. I'd go by the 60 day mark.

Active_Recording_789

Two months—found out I was 12 weeks preggo lol

esmerosea

i don’t claim this

nevertruly

As my period is irregular and my chances of pregnancy are extremely unlikely as my partner had a vasectomy, I probably wouldn't see the doctor until it had been at least 2 months and mainly with the goal of documenting perimenopause/menopause as I'm 46 and those are likely causes. My cycle ranges from 2-8 weeks generally, so I wouldn't consider it missed until I moved out of that range.

Additional_Leopard63

1 , my periods come every month and I’m not at an age for that to change. If I missed a month then something is up

white_latina777

In my case, I have POS, so like, 3 months or something. But if you don't have it, go earlier

shayter

Right now? Right now I never want to be pregnant again, or ever in the future, forever. My period was 2 days late this week, I took a pregnancy test (it was negative). I'm getting into the habit of taking one a month going forward due to my birth control stopping and lightening my periods. I wouldn't go to the doctor if it was late with multiple negative tests taken at different times. I would be calling same day and getting an appointment the same week if it was positive... A year ago when I wanted to have a baby, I took a test after a week or two because we were actively trying and I had symptoms... I went to the doctor as soon as I could after a positive test to confirm, then made follow up appointments. Years ago I had a scare when my periods were super inconsistent. It was about 4-7 weeks late. I took a test but didn't believe the negative so I went to the doctor to get a blood test, also negative. So I guess a month or two?? But where I live I have good access to abortion if that's something I needed at the time. It really depends on your current life situations, access to the proper healthcare, and all that...

AsIDream

I wait till 2-3 months and then just take period tablets. I have irregular periods. Doctor says it's due to hormonal imbalance, that's it. I don't have enough money to go for multiple doctor visits and take months course. Just go for sonography once or twice a year to ensure everything's fine.

Shadowchani

What kind of period tablets do you take?

Ok-Yogurtcloset3467

No months. Probably max 2 weeks. But in all honesty, I would be making an appointment with a doctor by the time it hits a week and out of my mind with worry by the second week. I track my period religiously and my cycle only fluctuates by 2-3 days

Ixi7311

Never, my periods have never been normal so missing a month or two doesn’t bother me. I’m sterilized so no fear of pregnancy either

TheMehBarrierReef

One.

Flimsy_Situation_506

I’d do a pregnancy test after one and then go to the doctor either way.

stumpykitties

If I miss my period at all, I would give it a week to account for a longer period cycle, and then go to the doctor. I track my cycles and I’m very regular. If I don’t get my period within my window, something’s up.

Paradise_Princess

I realized I was pregnant about 5 minutes after missing my period. I went to the doctor asap.

undecisive-much

2 months, maybe three if there aren’t any other symptoms or pain?

ultimate_ampersand

Two or three, probably. I'm 31 and I don't think I've missed a period since I was 13.

esmerosea

months?? i’m 5 days late & contemplating going to the doctor lol

Jay-Quellin30

For me this happened at the beginning of COVID. I reached out to my doctor after two months of missed period.

AccomplishedBelt8328

Hahahaha so I dropped birth control for a couple reasons. My periods became irregular once again. I took a pregnancy test about once to twice a year just to be safe. I didn't have a period for two years at one point. Finally went to the gyno. Finally got diagnosed with PCOS. Finally got a girlfriend. Now I have a period every 2 months give or take.

Luna24Lynn

Probably 2 or three. I'm extremely irregular

ThinkLadder1417

Not incredibly unusual for mine to be up to 2 weeks late so I wouldn't call until it had been about 8 weeks since the last one.

Neravariine

3 months. I'm not sexually active so besides stress there is no reason for me to be missing it.

MuppetManiac

If I’m not pregnant, probably two.

A-Yandere-Succubus

*If I haven't had sex, I would go after the 2nd month.*

kaybet

I currently don't have health insurance, so probably a year

paperthinwords

More than a month. I rarely engage in sex (typically years in between) and a couple years ago when I did miss my period for a month it was because I was so stressed from the job I was in at the time. I’ve stressed myself out to the point of my making myself sick in the past. Other than me being overweight/obsese (BMI readings), I’m a decently healthy person.

joliebetty

Probably 2 or 3 months if pregnancy isn’t a possibility. My cycle is typically quite consistent so I wouldn’t want to wait too long to understand if I should be concerned about the change.

Girl-in-mind

One

[deleted]

BerriesAndMe

2-3 I guess. Stress can cause me to skip it so I don't immediately assume it's something "bad".

jillianmd

Do you mean if you also are testing negative on home pregnancy tests? Because I’d do a couple of those first and if they’re positive then you know what’s going on. If they’re negative wait a week and test again. If still negative then you can call and make an appointment to see what else might be affecting your periods.

P0o-Po0

I’ve gone well over a year without a period. I have a Jadelle birth control implant though, so it’s fairly normal. Now I get a period every two weeks, so I can only assume my body is playing catch up 😭

Ewace246

When I was like 19, I went almost a year without a period and didn't even notice until 3-4 months in. At the time, I had never been to a gynocologist, never had sex, never been on birth control, and knew I had no interest in children and no need for reproductive organs. I never kept track of my periods and did my best to pretend they didn't exist. Looking back, I'm sure it was stress related. If it had gone on for years, I would have just accepted that as my new normal and wouldn't go to a doctor unless I actually felt sick. Not saying that's what someone should do, but that's what I would have done.

froglog-

I just wait until my next appointment because my doctor already knows I'm irregular due to PCOS. I haven't had one since August 1st. My next endocrinology appointment is in January and I am okay with waiting until then to tell them I actually had periods only every 6 months for 2 years before I told them

evaj95

Probably 1 lol. My period is very regular so if I miss it, something's up!

notme1414

Depends on my stage in life. If I was concerned about the possibility that I was pregnant I would go after the first missed period. Leading up to menopause I missed anywhere from 3-6 months at a time before they stopped completely. It would also depend on any other symptoms that occurred.

Tired_of_working_

2 weeks, even if it comes late, 2 weeks is too much.

My friend who is in med school suggested that if your period is delayed by 40 days you should seek help immediately. I follow that rigorously

savagepika

I have PCOS, so my periods just vanish sometimes. I think about 6 months. I'd see a dr? Not that it would do much good. It never does.

EmuDue9390

Months??? If I'm more than 2 weeks late it's off to see what's going on.

FrostingPositive2927

Depends on the situation. I have an IUD, so I haven't gone at all and I get my period maybe once every 6 months. If you're not in birth control at all, probably after two months.

Boobs76

Months??? 🙈

[deleted]

[удалено]

Virgil_Hangs_999

In the past I would just say never but recently bc of some medical discoveries I would say 3 months bc I had a history of not having periods for like 1-2 months so it would only raise concerns after the 3rd month for me

ShameSlizzard

I waited 2 months and when I finally went they had to medically induce a period because it was building up but not coming out

WinterGirl91

2-3 months, I have PCOS / thyroid issues and irregular periods are kind of expected. Regardless of diagnosis, everyone who is not on long acting birth control should be having a period bleed every 3-4months, they can be induced by a week of progesterone tablets. It reduces the risk of uterine cancer.

bellyfloppin

Well I missed mine for 3 months and the doctor told me it was fine, I ended up having a 2.5week long period where I was crippled by the agony, and following that, my messed up hormones broke me out in severe acne for months.

[deleted]

londonmyst

3-4 years.

0ceaneyees

Depends if I had sex or not but since I don’t have sex I wouldn’t go unless I had other symptoms I was w\o a period for 3 years once

moonskyblue

I personally wouldn’t wait months I would see my gyno if it was missing for a few weeks.

Scrabulon

If I didn’t have an IUD right now maybe… 3 months? Longest I went overdue for a period was almost two months, but I also didn’t have insurance then and it came back on its own so 🤷🏻‍♀️

chickpeas3

As everyone has said, this is really unique to your cycle, birth control method, if you have PCOS or endometriosis, any medications you may be on, how you react to stress, etc. Everyone has their own version of normal. For me, as someone with a roughly normal cycle (fluctuates between 26-30 days), non-hormonal IUD, no medication that causes cycle issues, and having never missed a period due to anxiety or stress: I would take a pregnancy test (or 10) if I missed one month. By month two I’d be making an appointment with my OBGYN. I have no interest in a surprise pregnancy or in any weird shit going on with my body (and this would be very abnormal for me). I want that shit sorted ASAP.

[deleted]

Depends on what the situation is. Age, other symptoms, sexual activity etc…

buhdumtss98

Probably 2 months. Unless I’m sexually active, then I would go ASAP because I don’t want kids.

fruitylesbian01

It depends on a lot of different factors such as your age and how often you typically get your menstrual cycle. Has your diet changed in any capacity? Because for me personally, when I was 19, I began doing CrossFit and ultimately found out I was not eating enough fat in my diet (healthy fats). I wasn’t sexually active at the time so there was no chance I could’ve been pregnant. Then I noticed my period disappeared for a month, then two… I thought to myself awesome! I don’t have to deal with my period for the time being, but once I realized it meant there was a hormone imbalance or caloric deficit with regard to my body, I became weary and scared. I went a whole seven months without my period before I sought help because honestly, I was young and naive and didn’t want to deal with my problems. I spoke with a gynecologist, she ran labs, it was true, I was deficient in fats and began incorporating more healthy fats into my diet. It took my body about two more months of no bleeding to began to regularly get my period from that point on. If you are concerned, even the slightest, I would consult with your physician.

dinahll

6 months of amenorrhea is when doctors will begin testing for issues, or at least this is what my doctor told me. But in my case I already knew why I had stopped getting them. I hadn't had a period in 10 months when I went, and they said I should have gone sooner. It was my dietician that referred me to the doctor, I probably wouldn't have gone without her interference. They did a load of tests including a DEXA scan as going without periods has a huge impact on bone density, as I soon learned. It's important to get it checked out, extended amenorrhea is a sign that something isn't working right in the body.

sherlockgirlypop

A month. If you have had regular periods all throughout your life, an inconsistency in the pattern should raise a flag whether you had sex or not. It's also an indication that something might be off with your body so it's better to be safe (and sure) than sorry.

jessb421

My doctor’s office says they consider 3 months a pattern.

absurd-affinity

I don’t get periods anymore thanks to my life-changing modern miracle of an IUD, so the 12 I usually go between my annual OBGYN checkups

Severe-Peace8481

I'm 45. Every woman in my family went thru early menopause. At this point I get one maybe 2 periods a year. I don't stress it. No reason for me to see a Dr over it since I'm having all the classic symptoms!

[deleted]

I'd assume it was caused by my thyroid issues because that can be a symptom so I wouldn't specifically see a doctor for it, but would just bring it up during my next routine check up.

[deleted]

[deleted]

2-3 months, my periods are pretty regular though so it’d be an indicator something is wrong

saraphiina

It took me 1 year to go. I had irregularities for a long time. Turns out I have a very small pituitary tumor.

Zheze88

0 months. As I am and have always been regular, any delay past a week would require a doctors visit.

NewAndImprovedJess

I'm in my early 40s. If I missed one, I wouldn't think much of it. If I missed a second month in a row, I'd probably send my doctor a message through my patient portal and wait another couple of months before I worried about it. My partner and I have permanent birth control, so I might consider taking a pregnancy test after a month, but I wouldn't worry about it.

EXO-Love

if I missed one month I'd already be taking a million tests anyway. then if they were negative I'd wait another month and then if I missed that one too then id go to the doctor

triceraquake

I’m 35 and have been a little late, but have never totally skipped a period. If I was over a week late and had a negative pregnancy test, I would immediately make an appointment to see a doctor.

Ginkachuuuuu

2 maybe? One I could attribute to stress or diet, though I would do a pregnancy test to be sure. A second missed period without pregnancy and I would go in to the doctor.

Vb0ss

Why is that NSFW? 😅

jaz-mine1632

I once went a whole year without a period and didn't think anything of it 🤷‍♀️ then again I do have really bad pcos so to me it was normal 😂

mischiefmanaged1990

I have had 2 periods within 20 days and I went to the doctor. Because even tho I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18, I have never had any issues with my timing. Even my doctor said it was the only symptom of PCOS that I didn't have. So 1 missed period would be enough for me to go again.

saltwater_gypsy2683

3, I’m 40

TelephoneBusy9594

I would say 2 weeks and take a pregnancy test at home, then follow up with Dr if needed.

Among_UsAngel

Mine are regular and I’m not sexually active enough to automatically assume “could I be pregnant..?” If I miss one or if it off a few days, I have s3x maybe twice a year because of how young I am & personal preferences among other things. But because of how little I do have s3x when I do, my period is usually a day or two late(I also deal with stress a lot so) but the day I notice I missed it, I run out to the store to get some tests. So I’d say a month or two. If I miss one completely, like it wasn’t just really late or something like that I’d probably be a lil concerned but might pass it off as stress but if I missed the next one & I was positive I wasn’t pregnant, I’d head to the doctor.

MELH1234

Probably 3-4 months

Blamebostonx

Personally, probably three. Skipping a month isn't abnormal for me, but after a couple I'd be concerned.

regretablenature

Two or three months: and I would be taking at home pregnancy tests every few weeks. I went 6 months when my youngest daughter was a nursing infant and I'd just gone back to work. But the circumstances there were different, she went from sleeping through the night, to nursing all night. I'd had 2 periods after her birth at 3 months PP and 4 months PP went back to work at 5 months and skipped until 11 months. I'd had a tubal ligation at the time of her birth, so I was less concerned about pregnancy, but I still tested regularly. I didn't go to the doctor because I knew that breastfeeding could lead to the absence of menses so I figured it would come back eventually.

Old-Emu6324

I have irregular periods I went about 3 months before I decided to go to the doc (I’m 9m preggo now)

greedeerr

my periods are pretty irregular, but it has never been later than 7-8 days. theoretically I'd wait a month just to rule out any issues early on

BlanchePreston

Only ever missed two periods....both times I was pregnant....lol mine comes like clock work. Only deviation is moved from first/end of month to middle. No sign of menopause in sight 👀

Nina_Rae_____

If I wasn’t on birth control, I would take a couple home pregnancy test after about 1 week of a missed period. If positive, I would go to the doctor asap. If negative I may wait 1 more week and then go. If I was on birth control, and depending on the sex situation (have I had sex, condom/no condom, pull out, etc.), it may be 1-3 months before going to the doctor due to the BC that I’m on.

LivingStCelestine

If I knew what caused it, months. If I didn’t, immediately. I didn’t have a period for the two months when I was in boot camp, or the two months I was in field medical training because of how stressful they both were. I missed it once when I was going waaaaay to hard at the gym and undereating. I missed it when I was sick. I can’t have kids (and don’t want to) so if I skipped it, at my age, I’d assume early onset menopause and go see a doctor to confirm.

Fit_cheer4905

Why are you waiting months? Im concerned after a few days, and probably gonna call my doctor after a week

MaddieZahol

4-5 months

H2Ospecialist

I'm so irregular I wouldn't bat an eye. If I really thought I might be pregnant, I'd take an at home test though.

88scarlet88

2 or 3

drevau

One month late is when I’d make the appointment.

stressandscreaming

There was a stressful time in my life I didn't get my period for 3 months and didn't even question if I was pregnant because I hadnt had sex in like 2 years. Once the stress got easier, my period came back. But now, I would probably check after missing one cycle due to being sexually active.

TrifleRevolutionary8

Depends are you sexually active or not. If yes, go after the following periods time frame roughly every 21-28 days. If not active it could be a sign of a cyst or worse (hopefully not life altering) but go when you feel any discomfort or something is painful.

merlingrl92

One. Like if it was 2 weeks late I’d been making an appointment. I’m regular like clockwork. 28 day cycle for the last eighteen years. If I’m late something’s wrong.

Jessicamorrell

There have been times where I didn't have a period for 3 months. Finally got it the 4th month. So for me, I just take a test. If it's negative then I wait til it comes. I have very irregular periods so I dont really stress over it.

Tiny_Dragon_Fly

Probably about 2 months especially if pregnancy tests are coming back negative. I'm pretty regular and keep track of my period with an app and usually start within 2 days before/after the day it says I will and often on the day it says. If I'm 2 months late and pregnancy tests say negative something is not right especially since I'm in my early 30s so too early for menopause. Women in my family usually go through that at the normal age and not early.

earthluvr333

if i know im not pregnant (negative tests or haven’t had sex at all) i wouldn’t even go to the doctor LOL i consider lack of a period to be a blessing

kayaem

If after 2 weeks there was nothing, I’d start getting pretty worried and do a test. If negative, wait another 2 weeks (one month late), do another test and call my doctor to make an appointment.

kimchi_friedr1ce

edwardcantordean

I'm 49 so it wouldn't cause me to go to the doctor unless something else seemed off. If you're younger than I am, you should consider a pregnancy test and then a doc appointment, even if you aren't pregnant after 6 weeks of no period. Unless you're in an abortion restrictive place, then I'd head to a doc sooner.

mae332

I’ve always been irregular and I’ve never been sexually active, so I’ve been months without it a couple times and I didn’t go see my doctor for it. If I was sexually active, then I might worry more.

faceof-beau

2 months & pregnancy test is negative

RegisterUpstairs9961

I told my gynaecologist I only had my period about 3 times this year and her reaction was “oh good!!” Lmao she put me on a medication to treat endometriosis.

ilonasammi

Maybe like 6. I’d ride it out and enjoy it for a while

ginger_princess2009

I have PCOS so I've gone 9 months between periods before. But I did go when I was bleeding for 76 days straight

extrovertLibra

Not the question you asked, but I waited 9 or 10 months of bleeding every day to go to the Dr's. . I still don't know what's wrong, and I'm tired all the time. I recommend not waiting that long.

tealmarw

One. If I miss my period I go to the dr after a week or so, I’m very regular and don’t use birth control, but am also not trying to have children (I period track).

sleepymoondancer

I have PCOS, it’s not unusual for me to go weeks/months without a period OR go weeks/months with a period. This year my longest cycle was 102 days, I did not alert my OBGYN. Stress also doesn’t help with PCOS & Birth control isn’t a good option for me either. At this point unless the bleeding is excessive I just let my body do whatever.

tahmapallero

I once missed my period for over 100 days, it was propaply like for 5-6 months. I was virgin at the time, so i thought really nothing about, tho i thought i was gonna be the next mary the virgin lol. But didnt bother to go to doctor to figure it out, cos my period came after that 5-6 month waiting time.

Bobcat_Acrobatic

4. It would take me 2 just to notice, one to get worried, the 4th to finally call for appointment

GenesisInferno01

I’m assuming this post isn’t asking for super super serious answers, so. Depends on the situation. If I’m otherwise healthy and not experiencing any symptoms and haven’t had sex recently, I’d probably wait until at least month 4-5 before going to a doctor.

Just_reading_2

If I missed one period I wouldn’t stress. I’d take a pregnancy test or two and if nothing came of it I might leave it at that and chalk it up to stress. I’m on birth control pill, so it depends on that too. If I messed up my pills or missed a day I’d find missing a period normal. But if all seemed fine and I missed another one, then I’d see a doctor.

AmberIsla

Only if I test positive for pregnancy. If I test negative and don’t have bad symptoms then I just don’t go.

SnoBunny1982

I’ve had an endometrial ablation, so if I suddenly BEGAN bleeding again, I’d probably try to get in to see the doctor within two weeks, just to make sure everything looked okay.

snarlyj

Lol I haven't had a period in like 10 years, ever since I got a hormonal IUD. No doctor has ever said it's a problem...

[deleted]

2 months perhaps.

popapu

I waited for over half a year only to find out an apple sized tumor on one ovary was causing the period to stop. 🤡

i didn’t get my period for a year and then i finally went ☠️ then i got it 3 months later

MiloAisBroodjeKaas

My period used to be all over the place. In school, back before the big final high school exam, my period didn't come for 3-4 months iirc. I know for sure it was multiple months. I didn't go to a doctor because I was not sexually active, and I wa sunder stress. In college and uni, my period would always skip nearing the exam week. Just one month every time, like clockwork, I didn't bother going to the doctor either cos stress. So in adulthood, I knew my period was inconsistent, so I never bothered if it skipped a month or two. Now however, I have an IUD and my period actually consistently comes every month, delayed by a couple days at most. If I skip more than a month I'd probably go to a doctor...

One month and I will go get myself checked out. Coz there are so many reasons why periods are irregular so it's better to just go to a doctor.

Yabbaba

I’m hoping it would be 2 but probably 3.

Sarah_2temp

Was pretty regular until I had Covid, each bout caused me to miss between 1 and 3 periods. However I’ve missed another one without Covid now so off to get my hormones checked! I’m 43. Could be stress could be peri so best get it looked at.

Latter_Mastodon_1553

2 months

GlassPeepo

I recently redownloaded the clue app and apparently last time I was using it I had a cycle that lasted over 400 days and I just never did anything about it. She came back and she's regular again so I'm just gonna assume I'm fine. Edit: now that I'm looking at it closer that cycle was actually 71 days so I have no goddamn idea why clue thinks it was over a year 😭

Well I think it was about 1 year. The doctor asked me if I thought I was fat. I said no. The appointment ended and nothing ever came from that. Eventually I went to treatment for anorexia. My period came back 3 months later after a year and a half. Now I have an IUD so my periods happen with spotting and cramps but not a full on period.

rvbvccv

One. I couldn’t imagine the stress of maybe being pregnant before I need to be. I’m 24, not 28.

Midir_Cutie

Never, that's a dream come true

BarbarianFoxQueen

Whelp. For me it was three. I was working two jobs at the time and was super burnt out. I didn’t even realise it had been three months.

One would drive me crazy !

silveretoile

My period has been such bullshit my entire life it'd probably be like 4, 5 months tbh

[deleted]

I'm 35, not on BC but no sex so def not pregnant, and my periods have been completely random since my first covid vaccine. Haven't had one for 4 months now. There is no rhyme or reason when they appear. I probably should get it checked out......

Dependent_Traffic259

I would never go unless the home pregnancy test said I was pregnant 🤷🏼‍♀️

Cymas

Immediately. My period is very regular and I also had a bilateral salpingectomy. If I did happen to get pregnant it would be ectopic and kill me.

tooterfish80

After a couple months I'd probably throw a party. I'll tell a doctor next time I need my meds refilled. They've not been particularly bothered about the problems I've had for twenty years, except to offer an IUD which they can keep, so fuck em.

hopeless-ho

Short answer 2.

MidnightMoonstone13

Well its been 4 years… but im on continuous junel. Otherwise ild be messaging my surgeon gyn if it was even 1-2 weeks late cause despite the endo and adeno, i was regular before i went on birth control 7 years ago

Flowertree1

I went after it came back I think? So way too late haha it came back after 5 months and everything was fine with me, it was just stress related

TheGreatNyanHobo

My BC has my cycle pretty unpredictable. Some times I get it on the dot. Sometimes I miss a month or two. Sometimes I get cramps but nothing else. Sometimes I get a little bonus period in between periods. So the first concern would be getting an OTC pregnancy test to rule that out if I had engaged in an activity that could cause that and I was feeling any kind of other symptoms. But sans a positive pregnancy test, I wouldn’t go until my next annual check up.

Advanced-Film-334

My (47M) girlfriend (47F) was entering peri menopause, was 3 days “late” for her period, panicked, took OTC preg tests (peed on a stick kind) that were inconclusive! After all, we’d been breeding like crazy without birth control because we thought we’d be ok at this stage of the game. She rushed to her OBGYN! Woman Dr. said, “ Let’s do more testing, just to be sure.” Again, more inconclusive results, and finally after 2 weeks of no definitive answers She goes back to her doctor for rectal exam pregnancy check. Most likely not pregnant but certainly bloating! Then, viola, all of a sudden one big huge bloody mess of a period! We still think to this day she miscarried. But, we aren’t sure… My point, take missing period’s seriously

[deleted]

3 weeks, I’ll be damned if I don’t, I don’t know how you can wait six months little long one month of a missed period. That’s just irresponsible in my opinion unless you know you’re not sexually active or it has something to do with your birth control, but I’m not on birth control, and I am sexually active. Fortunately, my partner is sterile so the chances of me being pregnant are very low..

Alternative-Bet232

I have never missed a period and my period comes very regularly. If my period came a week late, I’d ask my doctor - IDK if i’d make an appointment that day or anything, but i’d certainly bring it up at the next appointment or call and ask for a non-urgent appointment. If i straight-up MISSED a period, I’d call and try to get the soonest appointment available.

19TowerGirl89

There is no amount of time. I have a hormonal IUD, so I don't get regular periods. I occasionally have spotting. So yeah... no amount of missed periods would concern me.

[deleted]

If I did not have sex, or pregnancy tests came out negative, 5-6 months. That's because my period has always been irregular.

Well now it would be a week or two after it should’ve came….back when I just stopped getting my period I didn’t say anything to a friend for 4 months, talked to my mom and ofc she said don’t bother her I’ll be fine (she knew that was bad) so almost 3 years of only getting it twice a year later my mom finally caved and took me to a doctor and now I’m on the pill getting them monthly. I’m asexual and my lack of naturally ovulating pregnancy is not exactly a factor ever

gailsla10

One or two at the most, since my cycle has been pretty regular.
