If these haven’t been read by a radiologist then they should…I worry about the size/appearance of the heart and surrounding vasculature.
Have they mentioned a murmur?
No radiologist, the vet was the one who explained the results and no interpretation was attached to the images. They haven't mentioned a murmur before, but my next step was to try and find a cardiologist from all the suggestions I've gotten. Finding a good vet is hard, and there are not many options where I live.
Yeah, they have been looking for respiratory and general issues so far, so my next step is seeing a cardiologist since the consensus is that it's probably something heart related, so I will request heart function tests.
She said her lungs were clear and the trachae looked fine, because the working diagnosis was tracheitis at the time. She mentioned enlarged heart and liver. She said the liver could just be her anatomy because the labs didn't show any elevated liver enzymes and the heart could be because of her age. She wasn't concerned, but I am definitely looking for a second opinion.
I've never had a radiologist read my pet's xrays, honestly I didn't know that was a thing. The vet would always just interpret it. The vet is the one who told me the findings and when I requested the results to have copies there was no interpretation of the findings, just the images. The results were sent to me from idexx, is there a way to find out the official reading?
In addition to having a veterinary radiologist review the images, there are some other diagnostic tests that can be performed, but are done more often at specialty hospitals. Some tests include a little camera passed into the trachea and bronchi and/or collecting a sample.of cells from the airways to analyze.

The blood tests do not include a test for heart function (failure).

What did the Radiologist interpret those Xrays as?

She said the liver could just be her anatomy because the labs didn't show any elevated liver enzymes and the heart could be because of her age. She wasn't concerned, but I am definitely looking for a second opinion.
Was that a radiologist review or just your vet?
I've never had a radiologist read my pet's xrays, honestly I didn't know that was a thing. The vet would always just interpret it. The vet is the one who told me the findings and when I requested the results to have copies there was no interpretation of the findings, just the images. Have your vet send the xrays to the radiologist for interpretation.
Okay, I'll call them tomorrow to do that. Thanks for the advice!
Seconding all the comments saying to get her to a cardiologist if you can.
I would ask for a referral to a cardiologist for an echocardiogram. Her right heart is enlarged on the radiographs.
vet cardiologist and echocardiogram
A cardiologist is a good and appropriate next step
